I went here for lunch during the soft opening and had a wonderful experience! The ambience is very trendy, with lots of wood and natural foliage. It also has a cute seating area outside that would be nice on warmer days. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive. That was my first good impression of this place. We started out with drinks, margaritas of course! I would've preferred less ice, but otherwise the drinks were tasty. We went ahead and ordered calamari as our appetizer, which was flash fried to perfection. It was very crispy and was nicely complimented with arugula and a light vinaigrette. For our entrees, we got the squid ink pasta (which tasted similar to the Thai dish, tom yum) and the bolognese. Both of these were really good as well. Lastly, we finished our meal with the hazelnut torta, which was a great way to end the experience. I loved the gelato and toffee bits. I hope to be back soon! read more

Service - Abysmal. We were the largest party there for the night, but didn't get good service. We waited 45 minutes for the waitress to take our order. She didn't refill out waters nor did she get the refill for soda or get straws we asked for until near end of our time. Many people in our party also sensed an attitude and passive aggressiveness. She did not check on us during our meal to see it everything was alright. She put everything on one check, but didn't ask if we wanted to do that. It was not feasible for us to pay on the same check so we had to ask for separate checks. She gave more attitude after that. Food - I got the roasted salmon. Apparently you can only get it cooked medium for some reason. It tasted good, had a strong lemon flavor which helped because the Farro was very salty. That being said, not the best Italian food and drinks I've ever had in terms of flavor. I got the Fiore Scarletto cocktail, which was fruit-forward and smooth...and the Veni Vedi Vici cocktail was also smooth for being so citrus-heavy, so I was pleased with both of those. Our table split a few dishes and he has the kitchen split the portions out before being to us which was a very nice touch. For appetizers, we had zucca chips, calamari, heirloom tomato and burrata, and white truffle garlic bread. Came here for dinner with a group of friends. Had to make a reservation for eight - which is fine. Our table was ready when we got there so the wait to be seated was minimal. But, it took a little while for our server to come. When he did come he didn't bring out enough water for everyone. Some of my friends ordered drinks from the bar and those took only about 5 minutes to come out at first, but the second round they ordered took a good 10 minutes to get to us. I ordered the short rib cavatelli which, the meat itself was cooked nicely and had a pleasant taste, but the pasta and the sauce were bland. The salt in the salt shaker is too big to actually come out for some reason so you have to unscrew and take off the lid to get anything out. It took about 20 minutes for our order to be taken and once it was it took 25-30 minutes to come out. It looked like many tables were getting their food kind of late. The place was busy but 25-30 minutes for the food to arrive busy? No. There was definitely enough staff on hand. Our server was friendly enough but the lag in getting the drinks, getting the food, etc etc - and only once did someone stop by to apologize for the second round of drinks taking so long. Their breakfast/brunch menu is served on Saturdays and Sundays and is really sophisticated and well thought. It was really pleasant atmosphere and service was great and attentive. Smoked salmon avocado toast was delicious!!! Crispy marinated onion was nice touch and whole thing was topped with shaved fresh horseradish. We were seated at a booth in the bar area and my dining experience was between mediocre to poor from start to end. The bartender serviced me and my guest and paying attention to details is not one of his strengths. He did not bring lemon slices that I requested for my water and also neglected to add it to my iced tea. I asked for it second time and he still forgot to bring it. I ordered their burger and asked for medium well. It came out medium rare so the restaurant staff bringing my plate took it back to the kitchen to redo the burger, which took another 10 to 15 minutes. There was no apology from the server and no one from the management came by either. Was quite disappointing. Thankfully my guest's pizza turned out well. The server did not check in on us after coming by to make sure the burger was cooked at my requested temperature. After trying to signal him to request refill on my iced tea several times, I finally took my glass to the bar to request a refill. Specially the fungi one is my favorite. Right amount of cheese with perfect seasoning. Very soft but still chewy crust. Most importantly it comes steaming hot from the heart oven. I've been to North Italia at the Boro four times now and I think I can write a solid review. First of all, this is the cutest restaurant in the Boro, think perfect for a date night. The service is consistently good, staff is friendly and efficient. I love that they have wine specialists that can talk to your ear about the best wine choice you should make for the night. I've had the seasonal vegetable salad and the Italian farm salad and was delighted with how creative they were. The pizzas are individual size but definitely possible to share between two. If you love to try new flavors I'd recommend the prosciutto pizza, which is topped with fig and goat cheese and arugula - could it be more interesting than that? If mixing sweet and savory is not your thing, the cacio and pepe pizza is another solid choice. In honor of being completely transparent and impartial, the bolognese which is the house specialty did not blow me away. The bolognese was lighter in texture and flavor when compared to traditional Italian bolognese, which made me suspect it's healthier for you. Their mixed drinks are also a huge success. In one occasion I went off the menu and ordered a spicy margarita and the bartender delivered a delicious cayenne packed marg that was super refreshing. The ability to create a drink off the menu earns an automatic A+ from me. I love coming to North Italia because their menu options are so much fun to explore. There's so much to try and the richness of flavor is evident. They are also extremely accommodating to guests on indoor/outdoor seating choice which is pleasant. Got the arugula salad, ink pasta, and the fungi pizza. Ink pasta was a huge disappointment, and fungi pizza was also terrible. Food 2/5 Service the waitress we had was absolutely terrible, she was not attentive and I had to constantly try to grab her. We had a cake and when she brought it out she ripped the box, even though while she was having trouble we asked it's okay but she insisted and literally ripped it open. My family sat down, and as we took our first bites of the lemon donuts, I heard my mom murmur, "This is the most delicious thing I have ever eaten." This place ABSOLUTELY blew me away. We started off with some mimosas and Bloody Mary's, followed by the aforementioned phenomenal lemon donuts (you must try these if you go, I do not make the rules). We each tried various breakfast items, the Pollo Frito, Short Rib Hash, Americano, Farmer's Market Scramble, and Grilled Beef Tenderloin and Eggs. Everyone was so impressed with every flavor on the plate. One of my favorite parts were the crispy potatoes added on the side of a few dishes (also available as an add-on side) - which were formed into perfect little fried potato balls. I went today around 3:30-4:00 and it wasn't super packed. I got seated very quickly but then just sat there for an unreasonable amount of time before anyone came to the table to just ask if I wanted a drink or anything. A friend once told me that finding good pasta is easy, but consistently incredible pasta is hard. Similarly, North Italia just barely misses that incredible mark for me, but still has some great options if you're ever craving pasta! This restaurant offers both outdoor and indoor seating. We ended up sitting outside since it was a beautiful Saturday afternoon, so while I only got a glimpse of the indoor setting, the restaurant in general has great ambiance and modern décor! The staff was also excellent - our waiter in particular was very enthusiastic and attentive to our table. As for the food, we ordered the prosciutto pizza, squid ink mafaldine, short rib cavatelli, and strozzapreti. The prosciutto pizza had fantastic flavor - the thinly cut prosciutto paired nicely with the tang of the goat cheese and the sweetness of the fig. However, the crust occupied too much of the pizza for my taste. All the pasta was perfectly al dente! The short rib cavatelli and strozzapreti were both great creamy pasta options, the cavatelli having emphasis on the short rib flavor (of course) and the strozzapreti having a stronger mushroom profile. The squid ink mafaldine fell short for me. Although I thoroughly enjoyed the bite and taste of the squid ink pasta itself, the tomato-base sauce that was paired with it was too acidic and overpowered the wonderful squid ink flavor. We ended our meal with butter cake and sorbet, which were both amazing! Overall, we enjoyed our meal and I believe this place definitely has a lot of potential.
