I enjoyed my experience here. I especially liked watching the head chef?/expediter call out the orders to the chefs right out in the open for all to see. It was obvious the kitchen was in tight control, so that was a good sign. It smelled great in there. We tried the "famous" fried clams, which I was surprised to see the WHOLE clam, "sack of guts" attached and all, not just the tips, like I was expecting. I wasn't crazy about those, I actually wished we would have gone with the calamari. However, despite our preferences, they were cooked perfectly and the sauce was great. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted for my entree, but since my husband had the lobster macaroni, I decided to go with the haddock dish in a corn broth with roasted tomatoes, clams and mussels. It was presented beautifully, but not what I was imagining. The skin was still on, and the fish looked incredibly fresh, but for some reason I was imagining a pan seared filet with a bit of caramel. What I got was a fresh filet seared, alright, but with minimal seasoning on top of the real star of the plate, the shellfish and tomatoes in broth. All in all, my dish was fresh and delicious, even though not what I imagined, and I felt like I had a very filling, healthy fresh dish. Surprise! The lobster mac & cheese was quite good, with a nice sharp cheddar bite and the celery mixed in gave it a great complimentary flavor to make it stand out. They weren't stingy with the lobster either, large pieces scattered generously throughout. The kids' chicken fingers and fries were really good too. The chicken was tender quality breast with a perfectly light and crispy breaded texture, not greasy or with a thick batter like some places. The fries were just like McDonald's fries in shape and size, only not as salty and hopefully not made with preservatives...on that count I was skeptical, but everyone else liked them. The kids' mac & cheese looked just like a box of Kraft, which always irritates me at fancy places, but the sauce tasted like it was prepared in house, so I shrugged and my husband declared, "It's what kids love." I concur, but for $5.00 I could buy 5 more dinner servings at home. LOL This place is located near Bethany Beach, which we found to be seemingly snooty in a pink polo shirt & bermuda shorts-wearing, upper crust republican family vacation sort of way to even bother going to, so we headed south to Ocean City. We figured we'd fit in and have more fun there. Truth be told, the traffic was just too awful to stick around Bethany area, since it was not only 4th of July but the single lane roads were just not adequate for the traffic around there. BOTTOM LINE: It was cool to try this place, but I would never brave that traffic or go out of my way to come back to this place again, but they put out a great effort and the place is really bigger and nicer than it looks in the pictures. Give it a try and try the salmon dish! It looked really good. read more

This was one of the worst dining experiences we have ever experienced in Bethany. Our waitress brought my meal to the table and the fries were soaked in a mustard sauce which was part of the salmon entree. When I asked her to bring another order of fries not soaked in mustard sauce, she was extremely rude.... told me to take the salmon off of my plate and put it on a small bread plate. I then waited approximately 10 minutes for a new serving of fries. By this time, the salmon was cold. I never received a normal sized dinner plate for the salmon. The waitress never apologized for the way food was served and was extremely rude. It is ridiculous to pay so much for a meal at this restaurant with such substandard service. read more

This place is amazing! We only had a short 15 min wait on a busy Sunday evening. Our server Tia P. was an excellent server not only was she responsive to our requests but she was polite and very efficient. Now to get into the food. The Frose was yummy and strong! I had the scallop primavera and there was so many scallops. Such a dream! The pasta was creamy and tasted sort of like alfredo. We will be returning! read more

Went here for reviews. Great experience from start to finished. I work in restaurants most of my life and a manager myself. I went with my grandma and the server was very attentive and nice. We got there around 6 and it was starting to fill up. He greeted us and feature the specials. Food came out quick and hot. I had the crab Mac and cheese and it was so good I couldn't finish it. I believe two managers were helping out running food and attending tables that also went to our table and were very nice and help the waiter as it seem to see he had a lot of tables. Great hospitality and great food. Will come back again when in the area. The only thing i notice was there wasn't a host at the host stand when we left. Last impressions make a big deal. I'd had a taste of a co-workers homemade butternut squash soup, earlier in the week, so matter-of-factly, I said "do ya have any butternut squash soup?" She said "Yes we do!" I couldn't believe it! This place doesn't take reservations, but if you have to wait a long time, grab a drink at the bar. The cocktails are delicious and not too expensive (under $16). I was in a party of 9 we happily killed time by hanging out at the bar. The restaurant is large, clean, and decorated beautifully. The house made bread is phenomenal, especially with their honey butter. My boyfriend and I ordered the seafood stew to split. The boyfriend also ordered a wedge salad and I got a side of brussel sprouts. The brussel sprouts "side" portion was very large so I actually had leftovers. The seafood stew was just ok. I didn't really like the fish in it, but the stew itself was nourishing. A classy establishment. Highly recommended for if you're in town! read more

We've enjoyed all the SoDel restaurants we've tried to date, but we were really very pleasantly surprised out how much we enjoyed NE Seafood Kitchen. Don't let the limited menu fool you, the prize dishes were all specials and on the day we went they had many to select. We started with a spiced watermelon that was an interesting take on a classic. We then had steamers and our only complaint was we wanted more than the baker's dozen. We ordered trout from the fish board that came with mixed veggies that were superb. The stand out of the evening, however, was the street corn, which was served off the cob but had captured the flavors of the best street corn to perfection. Major yum! read more

Still outstanding. However perhaps I ought not to have had that second glass of wine and thus would have looked at my bill more closely. Fortunately they did not charge for the Brussels sprouts which had sounded interesting, and which never appeared. But they were supposed to skip the Cole slaw completely (they did) and substitute the mac and cheese for the fries: I got both although I told at the waiter at the time that had not needed them. And I was charged for the Mac and cheese. Not a big thing in the grand scheme of things, but a little careless on bothy part and that of the waiter. And yeah, of course I will go back. I rarely write restaurant reviews, but I felt NSK merited one. On the strong recommendation of several friends, we had dinner with 3 other guests last night. We had reservations. First the good points: We were brought to our table promptly as soon as one was available, even before our reservation time. Waitstaff was ok. But on two occasions a waiter was bringing a steak knife to a table, and he was holding it by the handle, tip pointing down. This may work in the back of the house, but a more proper way to do this in the dining room is to place a cloth napkin on a plate and place the knife on the napkin - it not only looks better, but it is probably safer as well. Happy Hour appetizers - Mussels, Clams and Calamari were delicious. The toasted croute served with the mussels and clams was a nice touch, but because it was essentially a soft, brioche-style bread it quickly became soggy. A nice, thick-crusted, open crumb artisan-style bread would have held up better to the delicious broths. I know good bread is hard to find in lower slower Delaware, so I can't really fault NSK for this. Based on that I ordered Fish and Chips, others had the Halibut special and the Trout dinner. The chef preparing the appetizers must have been on break. All the fish was overcooked. side dishes were uninspired. The small white potatoes where undercooked, the cauliflower purée that accompanied the Halibut and Trout was runny and lacked flavor - as if frozen cauliflower was defrosted, boiled in salted water and just had cream stirred into it at the last moment as it was being puréed - so of course it separated. The price for Fish and Chips was $21. It had a nice helping of fish - 1 1/2 fillets. But the battered coating was soggy, as were the generic frozen french fries. Disappointing at best. Maybe the order was ready first and it sat in the window until the other orders were ready. But all that matters is that it was overcooked and soggy by the time it got to me. I was hungry so I ate some of the fries and two pieces of fish, but did not bother to eat the third piece or the rest of the fries. I was looking forward to the house pickles, which never materialized. In contrast, the Fish and Chips at Go Brit! are the real thing - super-crispy/crackly, gossamer-light beer battered, full-sized cod fillet with hand cut chips, just as you can find in Great Britain and Ireland - and a bargain at $13. For $19 you can get two fillets. Dinner was a letdown. I can recommend the NSK for Happy Hour or a light meal made up of appetizers, but I'd skip on the fish entrees, at least until they figure out how to manage their timing better - either on the fire or in the window. read more

I highly recommend NSK. We met friends here a few days ago. My husband got the fish and chips and I got the hot lobster sandwich. Everything was so good. One of our friends got the sausage on potato salad. We are going to go back and try that dish before we leave next week. They are practicing social distancing. We did eat inside as it was about 94 degrees outside and humid. We went back for the sausage dish on Saturday evening. It was as good as it looked! We shared that dish and another fish and chips. We stumbled upon this restaurant and absolutely loved it. Service was very attentive and timely. We dined on the patio and enjoyed the ambiance including the music. Everything we ordered was delicious from the salads (beet and Caesar salads), lobster fries appetizer (big chunks of lobster!), entrees (swordfish special, Baltimore shrimp, fisherman's stew), and dessert (bananas foster bread pudding and two different ice creams that were so tasty). I had seen a sign for NESK and looked it up on Yelp. Ok reviews but I like to check things out for myself. We sat outside on the patio bc it was a beautiful day out. I started with a water and a Grapefruit Crush. My crush was pretty awesome (strong) as where my boyfriends was watery. They tasted good either way just inconsistent. I got the Calamari as a starter and Nick got the Caesar Salad. I'm a bit of a Calamari snob...it was great! Melt in your mouth and not chewy it all! I was so happy! Nick also said he enjoyed his salad. For our meals I had the Grilled Swordfish which came with Zucchini, Carrot, and Squash ribbons and Mashed Potatoes. Everything was absolutely perfect! Nick had the Baltimore Fried Shrimp with French Fries and he said it was one of the best fried shrimp he's ever had! Our server (I never remember their names) was very attentive and nice. I need a 3.5 star button! This place is sleek, delicious with great service. I had the ipswich clam platter with fries and coleslaw. The lobster sandwich with bacon was also amazing. A particularly nice app was the smoked trout dip. This doesn't sound like much but it was very refreshing and delicious served with homemade chips. We did not try dessert. My only complaint would be that it's quite pricey. A kids meal without a drink---that would be a bowl of pasta for $6? It was a bit much. read more

Had a great first experience at Northeast. My husband got the salmon with the Boston baked beans and I got the Connecticut lobster roll. Both were absolutely amazing! It's one of those meals that I'll continue to think about and crave until I'm able to have it again. The service was also great. Avery was our server. He was polite and always checking in during our meal. We sat outside on the patio and really enjoyed ourselves.
