I really like Rib Eye, I should have asked for it cooked medium but I asked for it medium well, my mistake it was tough, dry, grisly and for some reason very salty. They attended us badly. Close it up. Felt that we were neglected as we were a big group which should be no reason to take any longer or treat us with any bit of less respect. As we felt disrespected by the treatment it ruined our dinner that we initially had hoped to have as a good experience as it was our first time visiting Fort Bragg. The audacity to treat us any lesser for a mistake we made is completely neglectful. It took is forever to get our drinks and our entrees. As they took so long we had all chugged down our drinks and scarff down any bread and fried calamari we could before our headaches worsened. My own nephew was falling asleep as he waited so long to get his food which was served at the very last. I'm never coming back and has changed my view on the entire area. read more

So we stopped in Noyo River Grill for lunch after reading great reviews about the restaurant. First things first - don't be fooled by the outside, the inside of the restaurant is beautiful! I'll post pictures with this review but from the outside, it doesn't look like much but from the inside - brilliant design with stadium seating of tiered tables so everyone gets to enjoy this fantastic view. Really smart. My wife and I had a light lunch. She went with a burger that was beautifully prepared but the ground beef was a little on the gristle side which was disappointing. I had a 1/2 dozen raw oysters which were Fanny Bays and they were fresh and tasty. They serve and interesting citrus-based vinaigrette which was unusual and very good. The views were, of course, fantastic. Our service was 5 star. So the 4 star review was based on a slight bobble of the burger and the fact we really didn't dig deep into the menu. However, this is a strong recommend, and we will be coming back for dinner on our next trip. read more

We were in town for a sunset dinner and were pleasantly surprised by the delicious food and wine. My friend ordered the crab cakes, another friend ordered the rock cod. The food was good and the view even better. Had the Rock cod Piccata for my entree which was solid. The flavor was good although the veggies were a bit dry. The fish was tender and the capers gave the fish a nice bite. The seared scallops appetizer was the real star for me. I should've gotten two orders of that for my meal. Full transparency, scallops are my favorite food so I'm definitely biased. I was surprised that the scallops came with a caper, mashed potato, and bacon base. It was good but a little too tart for my liking. The scallops though, so good. My family all enjoyed their meals as well. Definitely recommend. On a side note, they had a gentleman playing guitar on the lower level. It was a little too quiet. More like background music. Would've liked it to be a little more lively. Went to have dinner on New Year's Eve. Reservations were easy to make online. The ambience was so cute still with Christmas decorations and had live music played by a gentleman there. The food was amazing and so good! Our waitress was very nice and attentive along with the others, making sure our water was refilled and if we needed any bread or any other things. A review was written (it was not positive) by my wife on Noyo River Grill website but I'm guessing the administrator probably would not allow it to be posted . I have decided to relay her experience on Yelp to convey what should not have even happened. On a Friday afternoon Noyo River Grill was called to make a dinner reservation for the two of us to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary for the following Tuesday. Naturally a table with an ocean view was requested and promptly replied with a " I cannot guarantee that". After reiterating that it was a 25th wedding anniversary along with explaining that our seating time was very flexible, once again the reply was " I cannot guarantee that". But for that fact that the reply was given in a nonprofessional attitude and lack of caring for the celebratory occasion which made my wife feel insignificant, sad and confused why an establishment of supposedly high caliber would treat potential customers in such a fashion? The person taking the reservation sounded young, so maybe lack of training could have been the reason? But never the less Noyo River Grill will never be receiving a phone call from us again and rest assured friends and family will be made aware of this experience. read more

This review is directly related to what I ate for dinner tonight. Maybe other things on the menu were better. To say the cioppino was disappointing is an understatement. Way too many shells. The bowl was at least 90% shells, muscles. Obviously the kitchen had a surplus of shells and wanted to get rid of them. They put them all in my bowl. What wasn't shells was way overcooked. The fish was dry and rubbery. You know fish is overcooked when it's bathing and liquid and it's still like eating the soul of a shoe. There were three little scallops no more than two centimeters in diameter. They too were rubbery. There were a few shrimp, And they were flavorless except for the liquid. For an additional $6 I got what was marketed as fresh pasta. It was so overcooked it was basically a pasta soup with a few solid pieces. Service is quite good at this restaurant. The dining room is clean and comfortable. But unfortunately the food is just not that good. read more

Dinner last night. The food was low quality. Clam Chowder a 1 rating. Ordered a bowl of clam chowder (instead of a cup) for the larger quantity. The bowl was quite small. The menu stated it came with fresh bread. I had to ask four times before the bread arrived. Sadly the chowder has a sour aftertaste. It tasted like commercial chowder with bacon added. It was edible but not enjoyed. Spinach Salad a 2 rating. The salad was supposed to have beets, mandarins, candied walnuts and blue cheese. The salad was tiny. Spinach spread in a single layer over the plate. It covered the plate flatly. Two tiny pieces of beet, a dab of blue cheese, three mandarin pieces and red onion. The 'candied' walnuts were an embarrassment. Very old and stale. Old enough to have that beat up grey look. Asked for blue cheese dressing. It was a glop of gunk the consistency of thick mayo. Sigh..... Am only providing an overall rating of 3 because the people working there were pleasant. Enjoyed eating at this restaurant when it was down in the harbor. Don't plan to return. read more

Fantastic! We were in Fort Bragg for a couple days and we were given a list of local restaurants. This one sounded great, so we decided to give it a try. We did take out. A combination plate and the Sticky toffee dessert. The shrimp was divine, the scallops so scrumptious and the fish was excellent! Everything was hot, well battered and full of flavor. Arrived between lunch and dinner (about 3:45). We waited almost 10min to be greeted by our server once seated. We ordered two waters and an Aperol Spritz which was listed as a special cocktail. It took another almost 10 minutes to get our waters and the Aperol Spritz. The fried calamari was good and the breading was nice and light! I ordered the combo plate and everything was cooked to perfection. My boyfriend ordered the Noyo burger and added cheese and bacon and he said it was the worst burger he's had in California. Mixed review. Clam chowder was great. Combo plate was good for what it was. The fish was fresh. Caesar salad was not good if you like a taste of anchovies and garlic. I had to ask for anchovies fillets to add to it. Location and ambiance is very nice with view of river, bridge and ocean. All tables have a view. The worst part was server was new and very slow. Took long time to get everything! She also said the kitchen said there was anchovies in dressing and they might have to charge me for additional anchovies. They forgot the customer is always right. This restaurant is blessed with fantastic views of the Noyo River meeting the Pacific, and it is clean and comfortable. Service was quick, accurate and friendly. Dinner, however was slightly less successful, though the lack of success was partly our fault. We each ordered the fried seafood combination plate. The scallops were wonderful, and the shrimp were very good. The fish was a little less on point, and the fries were not very impressive, but the problem was the sheer volume of unrelieved fried food! There was nothing at all on the plate to cut the heaviness of the fried food. There was a SMALL bit of shredded cabbage, but no dressing of any kind. Unfortunate. Here for 3 days from Roseville. Tried this restaurant before and all was well. Went tonight to just have a lite dinner. Ordered Clam chowder and salad with an appetizer. The soup came and I guess one shouldn't order clam chowder at the end of the month as the clams and potatoes left till March. Pretty plain broth as well. Salad was tasty but very oily. The appetizer was prawn cocktail. Seems the cocktail sauce took off with the clams The bread was warm and the butter was frozen but you find that everywhere. Guess the odds were against us as we've had pretty good food there in the past. We visit Ft Bragg 3 times a year. Hate to exclude this eatery in the future. Maybe it was a calendar thing. Those I have a review of this restaurant before they moved from the location in the harbor but I guess not. Fabulous food again! Had the crab fettuccine with mushrooms. So good! Service was fantastic as well. Check to see if they take reservations. We didn't need them, but they asked if we had them. I thought they did not take them but maybe they do. Parking is tough at this new location. I remember the previous restaurant it was the same issue. Had to park a little down the road which was fine, but just be aware parking is extremely limited right outside the restaurant. Thank you for a great meal! read more

Went here for a rainy Saturday night dinner when visiting for a weekend get away. Was recommended this place from staff at a breakfast restaurant (David's) in town and it did not disappoint. The restaurant is large with plenty of seating options and had a live band. Our server was friendly and attentive to our needs. Beautiful location. Backstory: A couple of years ago I made a reservation for a Sunday brunch at this establishment. I heard they were excellent. I was reserving for a special occassion. Showed up and the doors were all locked and was told the chef had quit and no more brunches. Disappointed. So now it's a couple of years later and I noticed they were open. Instead of heading to Mendocino for lunch, I decided to turn the car around and stop at this place. They have a picturesque view of the Noyo River and ocean. It is taco Tuesday, but no break on the fish tacos. It was good, but I always recommend that chefs use two corn toritllas instead of one. Otherwise they fall apart easily. Save the trees! The margarita was excellent and they used a paper straw. Yay! Service was good. They do have to walk lots of stairs. I was seated quickly and waitstaff was friendly. Wait staff didn't check on me while I was eating, though she had the opportunity. The desserts looked rich and scrumptious. At least that's what I observed at a neighoring table. I was too full to fill anything else in there. I will return next time I'm in the area. read more

Omg. The food here?!? Phenomenal. Period. Just phenomenal. The best calamari I have EVER had. Annnnd I've eaten a lot of calamari. We get it as an appetizer at every restaurant we go to if it's offered. My dinner?! Holy hell off the charts, Prawn Scampi. I ate every single bite on that plate down to the arugula just because it had the scampi sauce on it!!! My drink?? Guava Bundaberg, a sparkling drink. Oh my gawd, it was so good, I have now ordered 8 (2- 4 packs)more from Amazon!!! Bahahaha truth. We went early (4:45pm) so it wasn't busy yet but our server was fantastic, service was impeccable.
