Unfortunately, I can no longer leave the 5 star review intact. Very sad, this was my go to donut place for many years. Maybe it is time for retirement. Old photos of their donuts are sort of misleading and they do NOT have the double raised donuts of my youth that I've been trying to find, but they DO make a darn fine donut. I ordered a chocolate glaze, a cinnamon sugar raise, and a raspberry filled, as well as a dozen donut holes. ($5.50ish) I definitely think the jelly donut was the star, they fill them to order and they have like 7-8 options. I do wish they had a powdered sugar option, instead of just a glazed. I think that would be even more amazing. None of them were too sickeningly sweet, and the chocolate only has a hint of chocolate flavor, but they do make a double chocolate cake, that looks yummy if you're wanting more chocolate flavor. My cinnamon sugar raised (which is what I came in for) is good. I'll likely be back to get one again the next time I have a donut craving. This is the best one I've found so far. I visited N'Star Donuts on Parmer Lane for the very first time and it will also be the last time. It was about 7am on a weekend morning and while looking at the selection in the display case, I see movement. It is a roach crawling on some kolaches. Apparently this place has a severe roach infestation. I don't want to eat food from a place that has roaches crawling over everything. I took some photos of the roach I saw crawling around and then after I got back home I contacted 311 to make a health department complaint about the roach infestation. read more

I bought these donuts for a client and they made them sick. Not entirely sure what happened, but I will definitely never make that mistake again! Coming in to pick up the donuts was a very quick and easy process, but the woman who assisted me was definitely not the friendliest person at 7:30 in the morning. The donuts are also quite affordable, but I will stick with Shipley's donuts in the future as I have never had anyone have an adverse reaction to their donuts before. I can't talk about the flavor of the donuts as I myself did not eat them, but from what my clients told me, they were fairly tasty although not so good as Shipley's. Ah well. Now, this was the first time I've visited this location/donut shop, but I can't say there will be a second time because giving my clients an upset stomach is definitely not something I plan to ever repeat again. I ordered a dozen of the sausage and cheese and they may have been some of the best ones I've tasted. The bread was sweet but almost pretzel bread type, I can't even explain it the way it tasted other then amazing. Mmmmm now I want more. I also got a dozen of donuts that I randomly picked out and every single one was outstanding! This place is my new go to spot near my office. I will be back! They even had egg rolls and maybe a burrito, it seemed random but I have a feeling they would have been delicious also. I stopped here once before on a weekend to grab a snack and there are a good variety of items. I stopped again today to get a dozen donuts for work. It's a little hard to get in and out of during morning traffic, especially since I was going the opposite way. The service here is always super nice. I ordered a dozen glazed, mini kolaches, and donut holes. The donut holes were very light and fluffy, they were large for donut holes too. The mini kolaches were good the dough was good. They have a ton of kolaches in a variety of sizes. I would definitely come back and recommend this place. read more

Stopped in around 11am on the way home from AutoZone. The women working behind the counter were super friendly. I did not know what I wanted and they were very patient with me. I ended up ordering a cake glazed donut, a breakfast taco and a coffee. The coffee wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. It was similar to Folgers, but brewed just right. The breakfast taco was what I expected: American cheese, a piece of bacon, plain scrambled egg and a grocery store flour tortilla. The donut was amazing! I do not particularly like donuts. I eat maybe ONE donut a year. That darn plain glazed cake donut has me craving donuts for the first time in my life. Really it was a life changing donut. read more

Yay! Back on track with my monthly donut splurge. Last month was very unfulfilling. I had a morning appointment and accidentally left the house too late to visit the shop I had in mind. The kolaches I got instead were pretty awful. All that to say, this morning's donut date was particularly crucial. I debated heavily with myself about revisiting River City Donuts 2 for their awesome apple fritter. Something new won the battle. I arrived around 7:55AM on a Saturday morning. Some of the other Yelpers mentioned the parking. Oh my, yes. Parking is a huge issue with this place. I just kept thinking there must be more parking around back, or... Thankfully, there weren't any other customers there indulging in fried bread, sugar and fat, so there was no trouble find a space, or being quickly served at the counter. I wanted to try another apple fritter--just to compare with the glorious creation over at River City-- and then selected a glazed old fashioned for my second delicacy. Total was $2.38. This fritter could be a contender for River City's title. The outside edge was just perfect, but it got quite a bit doughier towards the center. I only ate half, so must reserve final judgement until I investigate that middle section a little more thoroughly. The old-fashioned wasn't quite as enjoyable. Something was just not quite right. It seemed awfully sweet, and the texture wasn't quite a dense. Probably won't stop me from eating it though. Overall, it was good, but I wouldn't go out of my way to revisit. Especially given the access issues. One final note, I was a little concerned when I noticed the shop smelt kind of like burnt cooking oil. Thankfully, the donuts weren't burnt, but don't expect to enter and be greeted with a lovely donut aroma. **As others have mentioned, there is a $5 minimum for credit cards.** read more

It took me 4-5 months of working in this area to realize that N'Star was even here! Why? It's in a smaller strip just before Parmer and Mopac and easy to miss if you're not looking for it. Getting in and out can be a real pain in the butt and so can parking. This place has the best Kolaches in the area and they also have delicious donuts to good, I guess that's a duh comment. They also have breakfast tacos but I've only had kolaches and donuts. The prices are perfect and the portions are HUGE. read more

So we stopped by this morning very early about 530. There was only the one little lady working my husband ordered two tacos she didn't seem thrilled to have to make the two tacos. She said it would take about three minutes. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant which was pretty decent. I also got a Bavarian cream stuffed doughnut. It was good but not as good as last time last time the young man super stuffed it this time it didn't really have a lot in it. My husband was disappointed in the tacos and did not even eat them. If we would've had time he said he would've taken them back. They were super cold. Even after a couple of hours you can see the cheese never melted.
