Great sushi spot! I can see why people are saying that this is a staple in Newark. I like how they have a variety of offerings like uni, scallops, along with their signature rolls and simple sashimi. Sushi here is fresh and sliced well. It was just delicious bite after bite! Not too fishy and not too firm. Their sashimi here is just done right. Their price point is reasonable for its location. Staff here are very welcoming and accommodating! They are attentive and give good recommendations.
Food: 4.1 Service: 4.5 Very Efficient & patience Monthly Haircut for my wife means dinner with my FIL. With dad aging & slowly down, he's becoming more predictable with food, but we keep challenging him to order for himself and reading the menu. Even having him tell us what he will order, he forgot when it was time to order, but the waitress was very patience with him and guided him through the process of ordering his food. 3 bento boxes and one sushi burrito ordered. The food came out very quickly: soups for the bento boxes then bento boxes followed about 5 minutes later along with my sushi burrito (like I said efficient). Everyone enjoyed their food and my FIL ate more than usual which made me happy My wife had tonkatsu leftovers which I gladly ate for a snack the next day. The sushi burrito was excellent and giant hand roll is the best way to describe it. BTW: we've eaten here for more than a decade and food has always been tasty and consistent.
Solid sushi spot - a staple here in Newark. I recommend their bento boxes for a good bang for your buck OR the O'burrito which is basically a sushiritto!! They are pretty known for that here. A very consistent place, again, a staple for us tri-city natives. Nice service overall and a very homey vibe if you were to eat in. They are very known to the locals here and is *the* Newark sushi spot :)) Also complimentary edemame and green tea ice cream!!!
Delicious and Affordable Japanese Bento and Sushi in Newark California. This business is along baskin robbins and Mandro/Snow Ball store. It caters to dozen of types of sushi wether raw,baked or deep fried. We loved their lunch or dinner bento as it is super tasty,affordable and fresh.. Service is excellent as the staff is so friendly and accomodating.. area is clean,simple and organized. this is a family and kid friendly restaurant.
Yay trying a new sushi restaurant in the area because we can't just go to Mioki all the time right? lol Got to try the local spots when we can. O' Sushi has been here for years. The oldest review here is 2014. Why I haven't tried it growing up in the area? I don't know. The restaurant is in the same plaza as Safeway and its close to MandRo Teahouse. It's a busy plaza but they have plenty of parking. It is also conveniently located by a freeway. We walk in and are immediately greeted by staff. I was having a bad day when I went but that changed quick. The staff is so friendly. They let me have my drink from outside (because I came here right after Truewin) and I appreciate it. We ordered the oyakodon and sushi bento. I got used to seeing oyakodon as chicken and egg over rice that this confused me a bit but I knew the name translates to "Mother and child" so it made sense. I honestly liked it. Great amount of food for me who wasn't insanely hungry after boba and a souffle cake (I know, dessert before dinner how dare I). The sushi bento was also good. Great amount of food for the price. Overall I liked this place. I think it stood out more because the staff are so kind. And sometimes that little boost is what you need to get the customers to keep coming back. Highly recommend!
I've been a patron of O'Sushi for years, and I'm thrilled to report that their food quality has not wavered at all over the last decade that I've been going. The sushi rolls are fresh, delicious, and innovative, and the servers are extremely attentive. Sushi rolls are on par for the area in terms of price; $16 for more specialty rolls, $8-9 for classics (California, Philly, etc.). I love that they still have hand sanitizer pumps at each table (a pandemic practice that I wish they still instituted in restaurants across the Bay Area), and I observed the staff's dedication to cleanliness when they wiped down each table using an antibacterial solution. There's not one thing I didn't enjoy about O'Sushi, and I look forward to returning!
The food was excellent and flavorful. Very generous portions of sashimi which I appreciate. The assortment of fish were so fresh! The server was friendly and did not rush us at all in ordering. It's a small place, decent inside. No need for grand decorations when the food speaks for itself. Definitely satisfied our sushi cravings
Small Japanese restaurant with good service and nice decorations. We got the chicken katsu dinner, Kiss of Fire gourmet roll, and veggie tempura. Chicken katsu was crunchy but might have needed more seasoning, gourmet roll was pretty good - jalapeno gave a slight kick, veggie tempura could have been better. Nothing really wrong with the overall experience, pretty decent food for decent price, good to come back to if you don't know what to eat for a night.
This is my 2nd time here. the first time I got the sashimi boat and it was okay. I think it's more worth to get the rolls because they are good! This time around, we ordered the #1 roll, rock n' roll, & smile lemon. The rock n' roll was my favorite!! #1 roll was good as well. Smile Lemon was fine - I think the white sauce they use is a bit different. They also have complimentary green tea ice cream for dessert as well. Service was fine & parking lot is a bit small. I would come back here to try more sushi rolls! Thank you, O' sushi!

Ambiance The place was not too crowded on a Father's Day and relatively quiet compared to most Asian restaurants in Newark. Food The chicken and beef were cut super thin. The California roll was a little dry. The salad dressing and salad were decent. The rice was fine. The lion king role was OK too. Nothing stand out or superstellar was just disappointed at how thinly cut the meat was, but the BBQ sauce was yummy and there to compensate for that. Service All the stuff for attentiveness for giving refills of water and tea. Overall it is an okay restaurant just not my top recommendation for sushi and bento since the meat is less than stellar. read more

We loved the rolls! Usually when going to eat sushi and ordering multiple rolls, they all taste about the same. We were pleasantly surprised that each of the rolls we ordered had a somewhat different flavor from the other. Recommend trying any rolls they have on special. Those were our fav. Will come back for another date night or for lunch/dinner with a friend! You can also get 10% off Baskin Robbins a few doors down by showing your receipt from O'sushi there :) read more

I came here on a week night with a friend and we really enjoyed the customer service here. We received a complimentary side of edamame to start and some strawberry ice cream at the end as well. The dishes are reasonably priced and all very well made. I got the 3-item bento box with salmon teriyaki, sesame chicken, and California roll. The salad dressing was great and the miso soup was also nice. Everything was cooked well with a good amount of sauce. It was nice to get crispy chicken as well. They also provided both warm water and iced water, which was nice. I would definitely recommend this place and be back in the future. read more

Came here on Valentine's Day to grab a quick dinner. This is in a shopping center so there's plenty of parking. We wanted to do take out, but we kept calling for over 20 mins and we couldn't get through so we decided to just go in. It was crazy busy for take out orders and they were running over 20-30 mins behind. We were seated right away, but our appetizer did take over 45 mins to be served and our rolls took over an hour. The servers were nice and I was trying to be understanding that they were running behind and already had some really rude customers that had screamed at them. Chicken Karaage - 5/5 - the chicken was good and crispy when it came out and I really enjoyed the dipping sauce. Philadelphia Roll - 4/5 - the portions were pretty big considered to other places California Deluxe Roll - 4/5 - pretty basic #1 Roll - 4/5 - it had a lot of flavor and tasted really fresh. read more

The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was impressively quick! I'll definitely be returning for more - it's clear this place knows how to deliver exceptional flavors. Been coming here since it went from old town to new town sushi to o sushi. Used to be such a great deal but pandemic made things way more expensive. Decent sushi and portions. We mostly order 3 item combo. It was such a good deal for lunch. Less so for dinner. Typically saba shioyaki, tempura, and chicken katsu. Salmon Lover is probably my favorite salmon sushi roll. It used to be #1 roll, but it keeps getting smaller and smaller. Sashimi boat is something I just get whenever we have enough people. Parking can be a little difficult during meal periods. read more
solid sushi spot with quick service and wide variety of rolls! cozy ambiance with decent amount of seating. veggie tempura roll: this was delicious!!! the ingredients and the roll themselves are simple, but the taste combined is immaculate. i'm a meat eater myself, but i didn't even notice the meat missing. each bite tastes complete, and it's also packed with veggies! spicy garlic edamame: generous portion and garlic sauce infusion with a sweet aftertaste. not the best edamame i've had before, but a solid dish that satisfies my edamame cravings read more

Hands down our FAVORITE sushi place ever. My kids and I actually found this place a few years back via door dash. Food was always fresh and delicious we couldnt wait to try the actual restaurant in person. The quality of food is excellent and hasn't demished from all those years ago when we first tried this place. We came right when they opened at 11:30. We ordered 7 rolls and we had nothing to take with us other then the bento box. Service is great, very attentive and kept water refills flowing. We drink a lot of water so that's my biggest pet peeve when we go out and have to keep asking for refills. Restrooms are clean and accessible for disabled. Booths are extra long and comfortable sitting more then 2 in one row. This place is a must! Worth the travel. They did add in the tip because of our party of 6 (I have 4 kids) im used to the tip being forced upon me at a 20% rate, I know some people aren't fans so heads up. They added 18% which was totally fair. read more

My husband and I's favorite place to go when it comes to getting sushi. We typically come here right when they open so that we can get a table because they open near lunch time, and it does tend to get busy due to people coming by to get lunch. We typically order from their bento section and get 1-2 rolls to satisfy our hunger, and most of the time we bring our leftovers home. The staff here are really nice and check on you regularly to make sure that everything is going well and if you need anything or need refills on your drinks. The parking area is rather small, but that doesn't affect the service of this establishment; just an fyi. read more

Food Kappa chirashi - unique and delish! Very fresh fish and seasoned sushi rice mixed with mushroom, and various items. Udon w tempura - subtle taste and we'll made tempura. Complimentary edamame, tea and ice cream after dinner. Service - fast, friendly, attentive. Ambiance - nice, quiet environment with 2 large screens showing sports. This will be quick because I just want to let my friends know to not order the #1 roll. It just doesn't work for me. It's way too much imitation crab. There is little to no contrast of flavors or texture. It was certainly overly sweet for my liking. I'm sure their other rolls are fine, but unfortunately this was the only one we ordered. My wife ordered a simple sashimi lunch. It's a nice little plate you can share with your kids (if they're into CA roll). It comes with salad and soup. She was more than Ok with it. I wasn't too hungry coming in hence the light ordering. I'll have to try their bento and other rolls. Just because you see 3 stars doesn't mean it's bad. It's just my experience and I hope for it to be better next time so I can update this review. read more

O' Sushi does take out and you can eat inside the restaurant. My favorite dish is the bento boxes because of how customizable they can be. You get miso soup, rice and salad along with 3 entrees of your choice. The chicken teriyaki, salmon teriyaki and California rolls are my usual picks. There's so much food in the meal and for such a great price. read more

I've been to O' Sushi a couple of times and it's always a great, relaxed place. The restaurant is on the smaller side, so if it fills up, it can get loud. The servers are super quick in getting food to the table and help with any dietary restrictions. I ordered the miso soup, spicy garlic edamame, and Spicy Tuna Tempura roll. The soup and edamame are always great and super filling. Any time I've ordered a deep fried roll, however, the texture of the rice is so crunchy that you can't bite into it properly. Overall, I'll be coming back to try some of the non-deep fried rolls soon! read more

Food: 10/10 Wait time: no wait on a Saturday afternoon Portion size: large Value: 9/10 Service: 10/10 First time coming here with our friends and I really enjoyed the food! Hubby and I ordered the charashi bowl with fresh sashimi over a bed of rice and the bento box with 3 items: sashimi, sesame chicken, and chicken katsu. Everything we ate so so fresh and amazing! Charahi bowl came with so many different types of fresh fish! Some the I knew were salmon, tuna, scallops, hamachi, shrimp and more. Pretty much all of them were tender and melted in my mouth. It is also a great deal for all the fish they give you too! About 16 pieces for about $24! It also comes with a side salad and miso soup. The 3 option bento box was also an amazing choice! It was so big that hubby couldn't finish. Both the chicken katsu and sesame chicken were crispy on the outside and tender and soft in the inside. The sashimi was also high quality and came with salmon and and tuna. Definitely coming back here! And trying out some menu items! They also have a parking lot with plenty of spaces and it's in a plaza with good dessert options! read more

My brother and I came here for dinner on a weekday. We ordered 4 rolls to share among us and it came out to be 60~ total for the entire meal+tip. For the quality of the fish and amount they give you, I feel like it's a steal! I was very impressed. I am a regular at a sushi place up in Concord and I haven't been able to find a sushi place where I'm not so picky about the quality of the fish, but these guys made their rolls delicious. Their lion king is probably one of the best I've had so far. We also ordered the shrimp tempura - I thought they'd give us more, but it was just okay. Would love to come back here for a sushi again! read more

I've been coming here for about 2010 And I'm done! I get take out every Friday night. I order the same item Red Dragon roll and sashimi salmon appetiser. Tonight after being out of the country for two months I was looking forward to dinner at O' Sushi. I ordered the same thing I did say dragon roll because well there's only one roll with the word "Dragon" in it. They staple the paper bags shut so you can't see your order before leaving with your to-go items..... I arrived home opened the bag and there's the sashimi perfect and the roll not so perfect. It's a Super California Roll, I go back to return it and I the customer am met with "that's a Dragon roll" I said really? Yes I said sure looks like a super California roll. The young man says "that's a Dragon roll" I said "there's only one Dragon and thing on the menu" he agrees I said "then what's a red dragon?" He says "oh well yea blah blah" then says "are you ok with that?" If I were "OK" why did I come back to what high five you on a job well done or..... maybe just maybe I don't want this? Well he looks at me says we can make it over if you like WOW, front of house schooling a customer and then lastly decides to offer a redo? First: I returned with what I didn't want Second: I'm told I'm wrong (which I'm not) Third: I'm asked to keep it Forth: Offered to redo. I was done after number 1. So I said no as I'm turning to walkout he says "ok then next time" my response was "Oh there will be no next time" Now that idiot ( this is the kindest way I can refer to someone in the service industry that has no skills) can explain to the owners why a decades long customer is no longer purchasing their product and is telling everyone he knows not to patronise the establishment. I've been out if the country for two months and return to a wrong meal and inept service and I get to lose 30 minutes of my life returning a problem product promptly with no resolution but instead an argument! I imagine they won't be in business long with this attitude I AM very disappointed and displeased I even tip these fools over 4 dollars for takeout and that's the service I get! We'll never again!!!!! read more

We had take out from O Sushi a few times. Today's order was underwhelming in flavor for me. I enjoyed the two unagi specialty rolls best. Unfortunately my dad's bento box had burnt chicken and a complimentary hair in it. That sort of ruined the meal for us. Additionally, the take out packaging could be improved. Something (I think it was the soup (?) Spilled on the bottom of the bag and the cold rolls were placed directly on top of the hot chicken? Idk if this is standard practice to package like this but I would have preferred to keep the hot and cold items separate. read more

Haven't been back since the pandemic started. It has changed quite a bit. The good: the value is here. You do get a decent amount of sushi for the price and the wait staff are friendly. The fish is still fresh. The flavors are no longer authentic. It is now under new management and although the interior decor remains unchanged, the flavors of the bento boxes have declined. Even the rice used to make the sushi is no longer the same and lacking in flavor. I give it a 3 star overall (1 for good price, 1 for amount of food, and another star for service). read more

It was our anniversary and a busy working day. We both were craving for sushi. Quickly decided to look for nearby places and we only had disappointment as the ones that were open had 40 minutes wait or were going to be closed soon or they only have take out. Driving around from Fremont to Union City to Newark, we finally found this place where there was no waiting though it was fully packed. Very courteous staff, served us and helped us to select some spicy ones and we got out as a happy fulfilled customer. They really have good options if you love sushi but if you don't then you can still enjoy their chicken karagae and sesame chicken or any other vegetarian options. read more

I'm not sure why this restaurants says "unclaimed" but this restaurant it's a solid 5/5. Service here it's super friendly and fast. The environment and design gives you a really calm vibe. I been here 3 times already and food it's always fresh. This time I tried their Beef udon noodle soup and it was delicious and had a lot meat on it. The broth was perfect and flavorful. I ordered their Alaska roll and the salmon was fresh as always. My partner ordered the vegetarian Bento dinner box and their potato croquettes are a must! I highly recommend this restaurant if you are craving really fresh and good Japanese food. read more
We went to O's Sushi and immediately searched for a more zesty flavored sushi, similar to a refreshing Peruvian experience. I love sushi that incorporates lemon, and that is exactly what I chose. I also opted for the Lion King roll because, now and then, I think something cooked isn't too bad. The salmon sashimi melted in our mouths like butter. Loved it! read more

Quick place to grab some Japanese style food. More often than not they are able to seat you - I've never been here on a weekend dinner rush though. If you're looking for top service with top Japanese food - this isn't really the place (or the price! Lol) for that, ozumo in SF or Santana Row is my suggestion. My roomies and I normally grab a table and our own orders with some rolls to share. It looks like a vietnamese family bought it - our room mate used to work here. Service reminds me of a Pho restaurant If that makes any sense to you. Cut & dry - menus on the table. Place order. Refill drinks. Pay for the tab. Which I'm fine with and is expected for that price range & I love going to Pho places (like Pho VN for you Union City peeps) Just for a comparison of service. We know what to expect and it's just fine. I got the dinner set 1/2 rice bowl 1/2 ramen. I got my miso soup and salad first - both good. My udon was a bit small and disappointing but wow the chirashi / sashimi bowl (1/2) was bigger so I feel like I won out on that. My roomies had Fried chicken Gyoza Yaki Udon Veggie Sushi Set All fire. Great quick dinner. read more
