I came here after a long day of shopping since it was on my route home & was dog friendly. We were seated immediately in the outdoor covered patio seating (dog friendly). However, we did wait a little for the waiter to greet us. I had to ask another waiter if we had an assigned waiter. Waiter was nice when he arrived though and food didn't take too long to come out. I was also bummed that they were out of salmon when we got there but maybe that's a good thing & their salmon is fresh... Dog friendly: they allow dogs in the covered outdoor patio area but do not provide water bowls like other dog friendly restaurants do. Parking: free 2 hr street parking close by or right in front of the restaurant Costs: it depends on what you order but it may be on the more costly side. Portions would be adequate for 1 person and maybe not enough if you are a bigger eater. Expect to spend $15-$20+ per person and more if you will be ordering an appetizer. Food Appetizer -Reuben egg rolls ($10): I heard it was good here so I decided to give it a try but I was not impressed. It may be an acquired taste because others with me enjoyed it. Entrees/Salad Baja Fish tacos ($13) - were enjoyed and a good portion as well. Comes with tortillas. Michigan salad salad ($17) - good amount of greens with some shrimp or your choice of meat/fish. O'tooles has been around me for such a long time, so def a classic stop when I want some good food and drinks! There's one in Lake Villa, Gurnee, and Libertyville so I always have one in my area it's no matter where I am in lake county- which I love! The sangria and nachos are my favorite things on the menu but everything else I've had is still very good! My only complaint is that they close SO EARLY! All locations close at 10, so when I'm in the libertyville area wanting to bar hop, O'tooles has to be the first stop. I'd love to see the night life there, at least until 11 or 12. My wife and I recently had our wedding and reception on the top floor of Timothy O'Tools in Libertyville. Our experience was beyond what we imagined. The staff and management was wonderful to work with and the costs were perfect for what we were aiming for. This location is perfect for weddings and all other types of gatherings. My work team recently had our holiday party at O'Toole's and it was great! There is a lot of space in the restaurant with an upstairs space with bar as well. Side note: they had a sign outside that states they have a dog friendly patio & the patio during winter is enclosed and heated which is really nice. We had two servers who were taking care of our group and I thought they were awesome. I can only remember Jessica's name and she was on top of everything! I'm sad I didn't take a picture of my food because it was delicious. I got the bacon jam burger and I absolutely loved it. The burgers are huge so I had leftovers for the next day. As appetizers, the group ordered Reuben egg rolls which were unique and tasty, we had the pretzel bites which were good, and I didn't try the hummus but it seemed to be a hit with the group as well. For dessert we had the apple crostada with vanilla ice cream (yum!) & brownie bites which were just okay. I ordered delivery online. I substituted Caesar dressing instead of the 7day sauce on a chicken sandwich. They put garlic aioli- my friend verified it as well. Being skeptical, I called. Chris, the "manager" who was incredibly rude, insisted he watched his staff prepare it.. and that it was Caesar. I've eaten at that establishment multiple times- always great. This man refused to accept that it was wrong. So, I brought it in. I asked him to show me a sample of the Caesar and garlic aioli. You will see in my pictures that the spoon closest is a pure match to the garlic aioli and the one in the back has a black spec in it. The consistency is disgusting for that to be a sample of their Caesar dressing regardless. I finally told him (after bringing the entire sandwich back and trying to show him) to refund me. The outdoor seating is very nice and we enjoyed cocktails before dinner in the bar. Service in the bar was very good despite it being extremely busy. Dinner service as good, but not great. My husband and I dined here at the bar on a Sunday afternoon. 3/23/25 The blonde bartender was terrible! She barely paid any attention to us. She clearly ordered food for herself and was eating on the floor in front of her very hungry customers, US! She stuffed her face and was chewing in front of the whole bar when she should have been tending to her customers as she walked past us at least 10 times. She then proceeded to pack up and leave her shift for the day without saying a word to us. About 5 min later he just put it on the table and walked away before I could say thank you. They have a kids menu which comes in a little bento box - very cute and convenient to keep all the foods from "touching." I've been here a dozen times and have tried a lot on their menu. Honestly there isn't much I haven't liked. A few of my favorites are the Baja fish tacos, chicken Caesar wrap, the spinach and artichoke dip, and any of the bowls. I'm not huge on burgers in general, but if I am craving one, I come here. They have a bunch of options - one with smashed avocado, another with bacon jam... yes. BACON. JAM. Occasionally they have special events on the patio like pet adoptions, holiday celebrations, and charity events. They are great with a full bar and lots of local craft beers. I approached from the east and found the private parking lot in the rear with ample spots available, so I parked there and entered the restaurant from the rear. It was a little confusing as to where to go from there, but I followed the long hallway through the bar, got to the check-in desk just as my friends were entering from the front, and we were seated right away in a comfortable booth. Our server, Mike, was great -- friendly and just the right amount of attentive. I had the Reuben minus the sauerkraut, since I was having slaw for my side. It was perfect -- the bread was toasted just right, and the corned beef had great flavor. And the chunky, creamy slaw was very fresh and tasty. As with the other location I've been to, the food and portions are always solid. The others in my group had a burger with fries, and another Reuben, and everyone seemed pleased with their meals. The best part? We hadn't seen each other for awhile, so wanted to sit and chat, and we were allowed the room to do this without feeling like we were in the way or being rushed off. I've been to this location before along with the other Lake County locations. I really liked the Libertyville location when it opened, especially the patio. Unfortunately, the service at Libertyville O'tools feels like it's been on the decline the last couple of years. My experience today really makes me question if I will go back. My wife and I decided to have a casual dinner out. It's a nice day out today so we wanted to sit outside if possible. We went for an early dinner at 4 o'clock. We talked to the hostess and asked we could grab a table for two on the patio, which was only about 25% full at the time. She said yes, but the manager took her aside and said something to her. She then said there was a wait for the patio. No worries, we went to the bar to have a drink inside to wait for a table. The drinks weren't ready yet, but my text message came over that our table was ready. I sent my wife over to go grab the table while I was going to grab the drinks and close out the tab. Wife came back to let me know that there was now no seating available outside. I was mildly annoyed, but there were tables in the bar so we just grabbed one of those and I moved my tab over to that table. We looked over the menus and about halfway through our drink. I got a text message from the hostess saying our table was ready. I closed out the bar tab and then went back to the hostess stand and now they could seat us outside. Great I thought so we sat outside and I watched a waiter and waitress pass us without looking at us several times over the course of 10 minutes. No one said anything or acknowledged us and I got to the point where I just had a bad feeling that it was going to be an off service night. We both decided to get up and leave and just go up the road to lazy dog. On the way out, we passed seven staff members crowded near the hostess station all just standing around. They parted the waves as we walked out, and nobody said anything. The truth is, I wasn't even mad, just kind of disappointed. The one thing I will say about this location is that anytime I go to the bar the service is top-notch. The bartenders take care of the tables in the bar area and are always extremely professional. The drinks we had were good but we never ordered any food on this visit. The hostesses always seem a bit scattered but this time it seemed especially disorganized, especially when there were two hostesses and they weren't even that busy yet. I can't say enough about the delicious foods and especially the staff and the event coordinators in Libertyville! Thanks so much to Jennifer and Nicole, (O'Tooles event coordinators) for helping to make the baby shower so beautiful. They were so understanding, accommodating and helpful in every aspect....from menu choices and set up to decorating and clean up. Our event had to be cancelled last minute at Mickey Finn's due to an accident that knocked out their gas line. Before contacting us, Mickey Finn's event coordinator, Kristen (also an amazing person), called O'Tooles, and ironed out everything and luckily between the outstanding cooperation between the two very experienced event coordinates, O'Tooles was able to accommodate us on the same day, same time and menu. The staff at the Libertyville location was extremely rude to our group. We were a group of local moms who stopped by for a drink at 9pm Saturday evening. Given limited table availability, part of our group was standing in the front corner. We were asked to move elsewhere and to another table that was located on the opposite side of the bar. We politely declined and promised to stay out of the way as we did not want our group to be separated. We were respectful and polite and were only staying for a short time. We overheard the waitresses talking about our group so when we left, we let the manager know how we were treated very disrespectfully and rudely. To which she smirked and said have a nice night. We have never been treated so poorly at a local restaurant. I understand they wanted to keep their walkways open, but it is a bar and all the waitresses had to do is say excuse me, and they could walk right on by. We don't have this issue at any other establishment in Libertyville.
