The food is very expensive and seriously lacking flavor. If our waitress had listened to our orders she'd have been dangerous. The fish batter is crying, screaming, BEGGING for salt and the onion ring batter is doing the same for some salt and cayenne...literally ZERO flavor in the dish. My husband ordered a PLAIN bacon cheeseburger and fries...it came out with lettuce, onions, tomato and onion rings...he's allergic to onions. When he was presented with his correct dish his opinion of the burger was that it was crying out for flavor. Salt and pepper are your friends, please don't be afraid of them. read more

My daughter and I split the crabmeat dip appetizer. It was blander than bland. I couldn't taste the scant amount of crab because all I could taste was cream cheese. It had no flavor, no seasoning. It was cream cheese, a little crab and I suspect mozzarella cheese run under the broiler. It was awful. Then to make matters worse I had already ordered the crab cake sandwich.... another disaster. The bun was just barely warmed but not toasted, not buttered at all the one measly slice of tomato was not ripe. The crab cake was flavorless and barely warm. I suspect it was pre-made and slapped on the griddle just long enough to take the chill off. It was so disappointing. Don't waste your money. read more

We really enjoyed the excellent service as well as the quality of the food. I had the wings and chili which were both on point. My wife had the meatball sub which she enjoyed. My daughter loved the spaghetti. We all enjoyed the onion rings! We will return again! read more

What business does not have a banquet room for parties. The original O'Tools does so why doesn't this one. we arrived only to be told that we would have to leave because the whole restaurant was closed for a private party who does this on a Saturday! I've been excited to try this new joint near the hood and was a bit worried after reading some of the reviews. This place was excellent! Met some friends there and the service was excellent, fast and so friendly! Got the pickle chips, wing and the black and blue Cesar. Nothing bad about this place. Absolutely incredible. Ordered a Danny Boy (Rueben and Sailor combined) sandwich. Bread was perfectly grilled with an ample amount of both meats and cheese. Onion rings side was also great. Wife had a veggie pizza and she loved it. The service was great. Danny, our server, kept our drinks filled and made sure everything was good. We have been waiting for O'Tooles to open since we first saw the sign posted. We were excited to finally get to try their food last night. The wait was not worth it. My wife had the chicken sesame salad, which was completely uninspired, and looked and tasted as if it had come straight from a bag with nothing mixed in or added. The vegetable soup appetizer she ordered was dense with soft and soggy vegetables in a heavy tomato sauce that didn't even resemble a broth. She didn't finish half of either course. The Danny Boy sandwich was creative and generous in its portions of Pastrami and Corned Beef. The highlight of the meal for sure. But the steak fries that accompanied it tasted and looked like the bag and broiled ones that come from Ore-Ida. Unsalted, grainy in consistency, and only warm. We may go back to O'Tooles to grab a quick take-out sandwich sometime in the future, but its unlikely we'll be sitting down for a meal there anytime soon. That's too bad. read more

I've eaten there twice since they opened. Both times ordered onion soup. The first time it was delicious hot and plenty of cheese. The second time two days ago it was very crowded I had to send the soup back it was not warm and very little cheese in a different bowl. My husband had a hamburger and fries and the fries were cold. I've been several times at both locations and I've always had a pleasant experience. Bartenders/waitstaff attentive. The sirloin steak consistently cooked to perfection (medium rare) and high quality. Can't say the same for franchise steakhouses. Quality food and reasonable prices. Atmosphere very good. read more

Honestly was very disappointed. I had heard such good things including they had a great crabcake sandwich. It was "fried" but basically looked like fb a black hockey puck...my mother got the same and it was also black. Her fries weren't warm and mine were barely cooked. It was fairly busy and our server was so sweet that we didn't say anything. The sandwich itself didn't even taste like crab. The tartar sauce tasted like mayo and had relish in it with large chunks of pickles. Ended up bring a $40 meal. My mother couldn't finish hers, so it was highly disappointing. This is the kind of place Midlothian needed. Locally owned, casual but nice. Not your typical sports bar. The fish and chips are great and the portion size is huge. Great beer selection. I can't comment on the deserts because I didn't have room. Will be back often. read more

FINALLY got a chance to stop by last night for some appetizers and drinks. We ordered four apps to share- fried mushrooms, crab dip, Asian sweet chili wings & Irish egg rolls. All of them were AMAZING, but the wings were some of the best I've ever had- the Asian sweet chili sauce was to die for. Also, the crab dip was out of this world, as were the Irish egg rolls. I literally cannot wait to go back & eat here again.... not sure how I'll ever get to try their entrees though because I'm going to get so full on the delicious apps every time! read more

My husband and I just had a delicious lunch at the new O'Tooles. We started with a shared large pub pretzel and each got a meal. I got a very nice chicken/walnut salad. My husband got a Guiness and a sandwich (Sailor-Ruben combo) that was so big he took half home. Emily was our server and she was great. I have been to this OToole's before and not had a problem but I was there last week. My friend and I both ordered prime rib and a baked potato. The food was cold.....the potato was hard, I couldn't even stick my fork into it. The prime rib was raw at one end. After complaining, the manager did take money off my meal, but unfortunately my friend's meal was raw like mine and she had to pay full price. I was very disappointed and ashamed that it was my suggestion since my friend had never been there before. It's a nice place so I would sure hate that you have no idea if your food will be good or not. read more

I had an absolutely horrible experience today at O'Tooles. I called to make a pickup order and whoever answered the phone put me on hold. I gave up after 15 minutes and went inside to order at the register. Ordered Fish and Chips, Double Steak Fries and a Brownie Sundae all of which my wife and I were to share. Picked up the food. Immediately smelled what turned out to be very bad fish. Really gross...one small bite and it turned my stomach. The double order of fries were seriously undercooked and bland as could be. Thinking salt might help, I looked in the bag but there was none. We ate no more of the fish and chips. Then we moved on to the "brownie sundae". The brownie itself was literally frozen as hard as a hockey puck, the chocolate sauce was in a pouch that instructed the consumer to heat it in the microwave and finally the "ice cream" was in a package and it was spoiled. No eating utensils either. Thirty dollars down the drain. Needless to say we won't be returning and, if I were you, I'd avoid this place like the plague! read more

Went to dinner last night (Saturday) around 5:30 with my parents. They were very busy with a 30 minute wait for a party of 5. We were eventually seated at a 4 top and when I asked for a larger booth they said they were saving it for larger parties and if we wanted a larger table (ie: one that could accommodate 5 people comfortably) we would have to wait 20 more minutes. So we squeezed in. We ordered 2 bloody Mary's. The first round came in pint glasses. Apparently they ran out of these because the second round came in rocks glasses. When we questioned the server (because we weren't getting a full size) she brought a third Bloody Mary in yet another type of glass to make up the difference. I ordered the fish n'chips. It came out 5 minutes after everyone else's and our salads all came out after our entrees. The fish was so disgusting I sent the entire thing back and went home hungry. Tasted like frozen fish that sat under the heat lamps for about 20 minutes too long. The fries were soggy and the whole presentation (wilted lettuce and a lemon wedge) was disappointing. For an $18 entree from their specialties menu it was an absolute let down. They waitress was super friendly and very apologetic but the manager never stopped by to check on us after multiple fails. Too many other restaurants for me to bother giving this one a second chance. read more

I love that there is a new place for the folks in Midlo to gather. Especially to watch college games and hang out. The success of OTooles opening is in the bar and social aspect. The food and service have a long way to go. I have been twice and both time the servicer was slow (altho nice). It appeared that she was covering the whole place by herself on a busy Saturday night. The food definitely needs an upgrade. The biggest issue is that some items were scalding hot and others cold. I would have said something to my server but I knew that would delay everything even further. I had asked a simple question about a menu item and she didn't reappear for 20 mins. I will definitely go back and try again. I know 90% of the people are there for the social interaction and bar. However the food needs to keep up with that aspect or then it just becomes a watering hole. We need more than that in Midlo please. read more

Great service, terrible food! Onion rings appetizer, no taste. Wife got a Reuben that had next to no meat on the bread and even less sauerkraut. My BBQ sandwich had no flavor. And even the french fries tasted dry and bland no matter how much salt we added. Very disappointed as we are fans of the Forest Hill location. I was always a fan of the original O'Toole's on Forest Hill. Good (not great) food, good atmosphere, good prices. I hadn't been there in a long time, so I decided to give the new one in Midlothian a try last year. The food was mediocre, and the service was terrible - out of four of us, one person got what she ordered. My order was simply lost, and I finally got something about 15 minutes after everyone else got their order. But, thinking that it was simply a bad night, I went back last night. The service was ok, but I have to say they were the worst crabcakes I've ever had. I'm not sure there was any crabmeat in them - certainly not what I expected from a quality restaurant in this region at this time of year.
