Food and drinks are solid. The only issue, and I'm not the only one as the couple after us asked the same. You cannot reserve booths or bar setting from app unless you put into the notes. The drinks are delicious, the food is great and the service is quick and competent. The reason for one star is because they only serve, and I quote "lemon garlic HUMMUS olives". The owners should be investigated. Put blue cheese olives in your martninis (at least have them as an option) and I will change my review to 5 stars. read more

Went on May 5 and asked if they had margaritas. Server said he wasn't sure. So we passed...we ordered two entrees and an appetizer...all good. I had to ask For dressing on the salad, there was none. The Bloody Mary was ok and the dirty martini was unfit although the olives were great. I asked for extra dirty but apparently not conveyed/understood. Walked in and gals at front desk looked lost. Asked if I could sit at bar and of course yes. Sat down and antisipated someone would stop by. It took quite awhile as I was looked at but no one said anything. Finally someone showed up. Took order. Not sure if he was a waiter or bar back or what. Beer good. Hamburger not so. It oozed juice, the only thing that kept the bottom bun from being soggy was a piece of lettuce. Which was not good. Fries hot and good. Ketchup a little skimpy as I ran out before I finished my fries. Service not the best. I counted 20 people on staff. Some doing absolutely nothing. The manager was on his phone texting. This place is not very hospitable. You could eliminate half the staff with the same type of results. When I left I asked for a business card. I had a great lunch experience here today, at a lunch with work colleagues. Not only was the food delicious, the service was outstanding. I'm the worst and cannot remember our server's name, but he was well trained and provided service that was on par with a high-end restaurant. He gave good descriptions of menu items, noting featured items of the restaurant. He asked questions about the group and used them to personalize conversation later on. Silverware was removed and replaced between our appetizers and entrees!! And to top it all off, he brought me a to-go iced tea at the end of our meal, without me even asking. I LOVE to-go iced-tea! I really enjoyed the food, too. The meatball appetizers was delish, and I had a burger with brie and raspberry jam that was cooked exactly how I ordered it (medium) and was soo juicy! I've been to Oak & Main twice since they opened. I really wanted to like this place considering we are big fans of their sister company Wildwood in Southlake. We live in Roanoke and try to support local businesses as much as possible. In fact, we were counting down the days until this place opened because we were so excited about it. However, Oak & Main has missed the mark and doesn't serve quality food. The food is bland and doesn't have much flavor. First time we went I got the steak frites, the steak was tough and overcooked. Second time, I got the coconut shrimp and the shrimp was dry, chewy and oil seemed like it needed to be changed. The service isn't great either. Both times we've been there we had to ask for plates/silverware with our appetizers and ask multiple times for our drinks to be refilled. Icing on the cake was July 3rd the night of Roanoke's big 4th of July party we went to Oak & Main to get dinner before the festivities began in downtown. Their internet kept going out so they practically held us hostage for over two hours until they could run our debit card to pay the bill (we didn't have any cash & didn't want to give up our good parking spot to go find an ATM). Not once did the manager come to check on us or to see if there was anything they could do for the inconvenience. Since we aren't able to leave until our bill was paid it ruined our 4th of July plans we had for the night. If this place wasn't so expensive and didn't try to be more of an upscale restaurant I wouldn't care as much but the fact that the situation wasn't handled in a professional manner is extremely disappointing. I rarely ever leave negative reviews on places but this establishment has a lot of improvement to be made and I hope this review helps guide them in the right direction. read more
