Two days into the 2023 winter storm power outages, we were desperate to get out of the house, warm up, and get a hot meal, so we stopped here for the first time. The place was packed but we quickly grabbed a table and ordered several different things. Pancakes and biscuits and gravy were both very good but the Alexandra skillet (Gyro meat, feta cheese, onions, tomatoes, and banana peppers with a fried egg and skillet potatoes) was amazing! Very decent breakfast/brunch place. Relatively small diner with a cosy atmosphere and country feel. I came there with friends Sunday morning and it was a great way to start the day. We ordered few different breakfast skillets (which come with toast or pancakes) and a bacon burrito. Skillets, pancakes and toast were tasty but the burrito was the biggest surprise as it was absolutely delicious! I recommend especially that option. Again I forgot to take a picture until almost all the food was gone:) I will likely visit Oak Diner once in a while. read more

I just have to say this place is AMAZING. The menu has so much stuff it's a little hard to choose. The service is so quick. They say 15 minutes and when I get there early it's already. Everything is so delicious and awesome. I recommend the Campfire French Toast and Banana Nut Waffle or Pancakes. It's one of the best breakfast places to around (written by my son). read more

So I feel like I needed to update my review after eating here a few times already. I was really excited when I first came here and was very impressed with everything. I recently made this a regular breakfast spot to visit. I have tried multiple items on their menu and I have not been disappointed. The staff is so friendly, we typically have the same waiter, Mark, who is such an awesome dude. He has been remembering us and about the usuals we typically get. I can't give this place enough praise. By far, one of our favorite spots to eat at and are becoming regulars here. The quality and price of the food is incredible. They also have different specials written up on the board and it's just an awesome spot. This is a must go to if you're in the area. Their hours are short, breakfast and lunch time only. Sad to say there is new ownership the staff is all new. Prices are up and quality remains to be seen. Things are disorganized and just a bit off. Is anything bad here? No. Everything I've tried from a handful of visits to the Oak Diner has been awesome! They have tons of unique specials and their staff is so friendly. Orders are quick both dine in and take out. Portions are large and ingredients fresh. All of the breakfast skillets are tasty. I've tried a sandwich with turkey and the turkey was pulled real turkey, not deli which was so much better! read more

A hidden gem in Maddison Heights. Extremely friendly staff and fast service. The menu is extensive with lots of delicious looking options including a variety of delectable sounding and waffles, pancakes, and French toast. The friendly staff and neighborhood like feel really make this place. We were pretty happy until unfortunately, despite covid precautions put in place (spaces and blocked tables, staff wearing masks) they allowed a party of 8 to crowd into the small area so that we had the joy of the entire party without masks talking over our table (within 2 feet) for several minutes while they waited. Why they were not asked to wait outside until it was available is a mystery. Why no one felt a large party blocking the walkway and interrupting the meals of patrons was an issue, was disappointing. What started out so promising (my first draft had an extra star) ended pretty unfortunate just for lack of consideration. read more

Walking in to Oak Diner, I was stoked. It was our first time here, and I love nothing more then trying a new breakfast spot. Walking in I thought it was cute and has a bright vibe. They had chalkboards that were colorful and festive and I liked the creativity. The part I didn't like, was the fact we waited by the door for about 3 minutes while a waitress didn't even acknowledge us, and walk right by us. We had to walk up to the bar area before and wait another few minutes before deciding to just seat ourselves. Thankfully we had a different waitress or I probably would have given them a 2 star. The coffee here was great, and the food was even better. I LOVED the peanut butter French toast. It was perfectly cooked and the peanut butter drizzle was delicious. The skillet with the country gravy was also delicious! I think they put a bit too much cheese on it, but I still enjoyed it. I would absolutely recommend both meals! The bill here was average, but was well worth the food! I wouldn't recommend coming here with a group larger than 4. If you're in the area, check this place out. You won't be disappointed! read more

Takeout order review! I ordered breakfast on a weekday for me and a friend. I called my order in advance and it was ready within about 10 minutes.The staff was very friendly and helpful and answered my 1000 questions about ingredients. I ordered the feta and spinach omelet with a side of fruit. It was served with a side of pancakes (which I didn't eat, but they smelled fabulous) and a fruit cup. The regular fruit cup had strawberries and I allergic, so Oak Diner made me a special cup without strawberries! I also ordered a side of nutella for a few cents :) My friend and I split some tater tots and a side of bacon. The bacon was not flimsy like diner bacon sometimes is (lol). Love a good sturdy bacon. There were people dining inside and the staff was all wearing masks when I picked the food up. They offered contactless payment. read more

We hadn't been to this restaurant in a few years, after it changed ownership and names. Not for any reason in particular but we just got away from that side of town. We went today for the first time and I have to say the breakfast was really good and my husband said it was really good as well. The huevos rancheros was absolutely delicious. I wish they would make it with corn tortillas not flour but it was delicious nonetheless. Our waiter was great too. We will definitely be back! read more

I had their pancake, hash brown and a veggie omelet. Food was okay. Hash brown came out nice and crispy but the food overall was very plain and not notable. I liked the previous owner. I think it was taken over by new management. It's good in a pinch but my favorite breakfast or Sunday brunch is definitely the Whistle stop or Fly Trap still. Went back under the new name and management. Ordered the chicken fajita with an up charge for chocolate chip waffles. I was so hungry that the French toast, waffles, hash browns and a turkey Reuben all sounded so good. I ended up ordering the large Greek with the feta on the side and Greek dressing, though I found it strange to be asked what dressing I wanted with the Greek salad...Greek not assumed? I also ordered a side of hash browns with green pepper and onions. Hoping the food is better than the first time I was here when it was the royal Oak diner. The chocolate chip waffle was not bad, super big and fluffy but on the dry side, needs more milk or oil or something to make it more moist. Would be better with some warmed maple syrup. The hash browns with the green pepper and onions were perfectly crispy and delicious. The Greek salad was good as well, though some of the romaine leaves were a bit brown and going bad. The homemade pink dressing is good. My husband enjoyed his chicken fajita and said the chicken was nicely grilled and tasty, though the waitress at first got confused that he wanted his omelet after discussing an upgrade of waffles to his egg order, she added the chicken fajita order after we had all of our food and she had asked if there was anything else we needed. The food overall was good and we will be back for a repeat visit for sure. read more

I think this breakfast was really good! Especially for the price! The sausage tasted very fresh, not like a typical coney diner where the sausage has been sitting around, you can just tell when it's fresh and whatever this did this tasted very fresh! I loved the portion sizes they were huge! The only thing I would change is the amount of oil used to make the hash browns.
