A lovely spot for small group meals or a date! I had brunch here with family and it was the best decision to start the morning off with an espresso martini. I highly recommend their ahi crispy tuna tacos. I grew up eating Wonton Chips at Chinese restaurants but I never imagined consuming them with fresh tuna. The lightweight crispiness of the Wonton chips complimented the tuna very well. I also recommend their short rib tacos and calamari! read more

Laguna Beach is stunning! I had no idea! Several of us went to Laguna Beach on Friday and dined at the OAK restaurant/bar. We enjoyed the view and the food very much! There was excellent customer service and a friendly atmosphere. I enjoyed the OAK burger very much, the wagyu was cooked just right, the ingredients were fresh, and the fried egg and avocado complemented the burger perfectly. This was a great excursion to a "new" part of town, and I have no doubt we'll be back. read more

First time at Oak in Laguna Beach and we liked it. Service was great (thank you Javier), food was tasty, except for the vegetable stir fry. The vegetables needed more flavor and were extremely al dente. What saved this dish was the chicken that ordered with the vegetables, which was very good. The shrimp ceviche was really, really good. I was not expecting such a good flavor, but I was surprised. Clam chowder was also very good, but the star of the night was definitely the dessert: a delicious brioche bread pudding with rum sauce and vanilla ice cream. I would go back just to have dessert. Deceiving ~ Husband and I went to Oak Laguna Beach for Valentine's dinner. The waitress presented us a Valentine's menu which was a three-course meal. The only two prices listed were under the main entrees: Lobster Ravioli ($100) and Surf & Turf ($125). We specifically clarified that our choice of S&T of $125 serves both of us. What a deal, right? What the waitress failed to mention was that the appetizer and dessert in this set menu had additional pricing - which were NOT listed. I would think that the general expectation of a set meal is that the price includes the whole menu. Is it our job to suspect hidden fees and ask for the pricing of every item? According to my chef friend, this deceptive practice is apparently a routined restaurant trickery to take advantage of patrons during special occasions; they're counting on folks being caught up in the celebration that they either won't notice their inflated bills, or make a scene arguing over their deceptive charges. We did try to get to the bottom of things when we got our bill. Our waitress spoke to the manager and came back essentially not being able to do anything about it. We ended paying over $300. The additional surprise charges did not break our bank. But we noticed the many young couples indulging themselves with the same meal... I'm sure they were duped like us by their shocking bills. Shame on the restaurant for taking advantage of people this way!! I would've rated this restaurant with only 1 star for their dishonest ploy, but the additional star is for their undeniably delicious meal. So that's that! (Excuse the horrible photo of the menu... I should've taken a better picture.) *** In reply to Carmen's message: Our waitress specifically said the $125 was for TWO people. Our final bill had one entry of $125 and listed the appetizers and desserts separately, which resulted in a total price that was more than $125 X 2. We came in on a Thursday night for dinner for the first time. The service was great as we had good guidance on drink and menu recommendations by our server, Dillon. The menu is a bit smaller than I expected but what ordered a few things - tacos, wings, salad - and it was all really good. The drinks were decent but nothing that I felt was really "stand out". They do have whiskey flights you can order they seems to rotate monthly. A good choice to try some new stuff. If you come in before sunset you can get an ocean view table. They have a small balcony / outdoor seating area which we really liked. We are looking forward to coming back. read more

New to the area, we wanted to explore the local cuisine, and Oak did not disappoint! They offer a prime rib only on the weekends. We ordered the outer cut which was just right. Not over salty, yet flavorful and juicy. The garlic bread alone, is worth it's weight in gold! It was fluffy, buttery and extremely garlicky...just the way our taste buds like it! Our server said the recipe was just changed that day, and we would return just for the bread alone! The yellowtail tacos also made for a satisfying appetizer. As it was nighttime, the coastal view was not visible. Host and server were very welcoming, food came out fast. Appetizers: Local albacore stack was perfection with tasty mango topping & just enough kick from the tajin sauce. Calamari was good but nothing real special. Creamy tomato soup was great. Both the food and service were on par! Javier, our server, was very attentive, but not intrusive. He had great menu recommendations which we really appreciated. The burger is amazing! The Sea Bass was delicious - swapped out the cous cous and had the chef prepare it on a bed of mashed potatoes! The pork chop had great flavor, but it was a little tough - overall it was very good. We had a quiet table on the railing outside and though it was a bit drizzly and damp out, the patio heater kept us cozy. Great vibe going on inside near the bar area too. INCREDIBLE dinner and service last night on Valentine's. Dylan was our server and he was outstanding. Kind, charming, knowledgeable and always had a smile on his face. Great sunny disposition. The entire staff was wonderful. For the drinks, we loved the V-Day special Strawberry Margarita and their signature Lagunarita. Scrumptious shareable Grilled Artichokes. For salads, the J.P. Italian Chopped and Chef Fabian's Burrata Beet Salad were light and delicious. Entrees - the Seabass dish melted in my mouth and had tons of flavor. Covid19 outdoor dining review: I mean, what's so good about this place that everyone gave 5 stars for? The service? Slow. Waiting to get our food? Slow. Waiting to get a change of plates? Slow. Refill on water? Slow. Getting the check? Slow. The food? Mediocre. Literally the only person accommodating was the hostess in the front. They were out of oysters and the only thing that taste good was the calamari and the Pinot noir ha. The clam linguine had this weird textured noodles and extremely salty. Came here on a Sunday as a walk-in and super happy we did! Brunch is not easy in Laguna! The hostess was super accommodating and we were able to quickly sit at the bar for drinks while waiting for our table. Holly was a great bartender and very social which made the experience so much fun! When we were seating we got greeted by the most enthusiastic and welcoming server, Bryan. He made us laugh the whole time and recommended some amazing dishes!! He honestly made the visit that much better. At the end, he was even able to get us a fun brunch shirt (purchase) that they had extra on hand!! Nicest guy. As far as food everything was absolutely delicious!! My favorite was the ahi tuna tacos. They weren't soggy and tasted sooo crisp and fresh. My boyfriend and I shared the chilaquiles and calamari. Not pictured is the ceviche which was also super fresh and had just the right amount of citrus. Probably the only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the ribs. They have pieces of cartilage in them (obviously non-negotiable they are ribs) but I just wasn't a fan of the texture. As far as spice, I'm pretty sensitive and the ribs were not that crazy hot! Just hot enough for you to still be able to taste the flavors. 10/10 would come back for the vibe, the view, staff and the yummy food! It's also fairly priced which is a big win! read more

I love oak! It's one of my favorite spots to visit when I'm in Laguna Beach. I love stopping by for lunch. The atmosphere is really nice inside and you have a view of the ocean. The prices are pretty fair as well for the area. I've tried their chicken sandwich and Caesar salad both of which are great. Dashes of worldly influence often flavor this amazing New American menu which had me salivating early.  We tried the Kurobuta bone-in Pork Chop with apricot chutney, bacon and red wine jus. Came here just in time! A party had just canceled and we got their reservation. Party of 5 and only had to wait about 5 minutes. We sat down and got our drinks pretty quick. Then we ordered food and it was all so good! While we were in the middle of our dinner our server disappeared on us. We were wanting to order more drinks. We did see her come out and checked on her other tables quickly and again gone! My husband had to get up and go to the bar to order our drinks. I had just realized I never finished my review. This experience happened about a year ago. Anyways I would come back. Something must have happened to our server, but something must of happened. This is easily one of my all time favorite restaurants by the beach! GO HERE! The drinks are to die for, and normally when I go to restaurants I never finish my food but I never have a problem here lol The servers are very knowledgeable of the menu and they always recommend great choices which I love... whenever we go after we are done we walk right across the street to the water and sometimes come back right after for round 2! Love the vibes and it's near other great spots that you can walk too as well! If you can, definitely book ahead and come early for parking, they validate here so you can even park in the parking garage right underneath the restaurant and take the elevator straight up to the entrance! I'm such a pumpkin aficionado that I had to try the smoked pumpkin old fashioned. So yummy with just the right touch of pumpkin. The burrata cheese was okay, but I am picky with my burrata brands! Shrimp tacos (5 stars): Shrimp were cooked perfectly! They crisp the cheese at the bottom which gives it something extra!
