Wow! WOW! food is excellent, feels authentic Oaxacan and very well executed! It's a good value, and I'd assert that the most compelling reason to go might be to have an outdoor dinner with a group. The place is quiet and empty (for now), and makes excellent food! If you haven't discovered this hidden gem yet, you should go check it out.
My girlfriends and I were looking for some good Tex-Mex in Chamblee and Oaxaca was recommended to us. We braved a Georgia downpour and we found free parking and decided to sit on the restaurant's outdoor covered patio. The hostess and servers were really welcoming and our server made some great recommendations. I enjoyed the prime rib tacos(they were juicy and had a habanero sauce on the side). My friend got a shrimp fried taco and she said it was good. We look forward to trying more dishes soon.
I was so impressed walking in the restaurant! The vibes were giving all inclusive resort in Mexico. They have a beautiful covered outdoor patio and tons of seating inside. We came here for Saturday lunch, but found out they also offer brunch from opening to 4 pm. Service started off fine. We were greeted by our server and dropped off water, then we placed our drink orders. I got the cafe de olla and it was beautifully served with tons of sugar that I didn't need. My husband ordered a margarita that he enjoyed too. It did take awhile for his drink to come out since there's one person in charge of both coffee and bar, and more people were coming in. Our server disappeared for quite some time, so we couldn't place our order. When she finally came, we ordered guacamole served with totopos. For my meal, I ordered green chilaquiles with over hard eggs. To my surprise since it wasn't on the menu, she asked if I wanted steak or chicken and opted for chicken. Thank goodness we had the guacamole to tied us over because our meals took forever to come. We were probably waiting 20-30 mins. The guacamole was delicious though and loved the fresh herbs! When our food finally came, my dish was served with medium eggs, not over hard so we had to send that back to the kitchen. The chilaquiles were also drowned in sauce. I've never had anything like it, and tbh, it wasn't my favorite. They did bring me new eggs that were cooked enough but still wasn't cooked over hard. The people I was with enjoyed their dishes though. Our server did apologize for the wait and the error, but the error itself did bring down my experience of this place.
Beautiful spot. Great vibe. Low lighting and music. We only sat at the bar for a round of drinks but I can't wait to go back for food and more drinks. Free parking in the attached garage.
Came in for a drink around lunch time on a Saturday. Ordered the ultima palabra. Received my drink with half of it missing (under poured) and the glass chipped. Mediocre service when I was the only person sitting at the bar. Oh and the pen to sign off on the bill didnt work. Not a good first impression.
We went early on a Saturday after an art event. Sat at the bar with Davod. He was awesome. Knew everything about the menu and ingredients. My friends can't have gluten. The chips are the big ones you break and they were really good and the restaurant was not stingy with them like Bar Taco. The cheese dip with jalapeño's served in a skillet was amazing. You can chose between chips and. Or the tortillas. We got both. We also got a side of beans rice and mushrooms. We mixed these all up and put in the tortillas. I love mushrooms and these were great. The frozen margarita was good. Not amazing. My friends got the margarita on the rocks with the mezcal tequila. She loved it. It wasn't all ice like some bars serve up. Would go again. Also loved the atmosphere.
Five stars across the board for this establishment. We had no idea this place existed in our backyard. This is now been added to our top five list of Mexican restaurants in Atlanta. Their service was phenomenal, super friendly. The food was exceptional, including the the margarita; highly recommend the house. When I wouldn't recommend are the churros, a little mediocre. Can't wait to come back again with friends!
Same country, totally different flavor story. Oaxacan food is like Mexico's deep, smoky, soulful cousin -- and once you've tried it, there's no going back. I was recently invited to @oaxacaatl Oaxaca, Chamblee to try their new menu additions -- and it was nothing short of a flavor fiesta! Bringing the authentic taste of Oaxacan cuisine to Atlanta, they use a mix of locally grown and imported ingredients that make every dish burst with freshness and depth. We started with some stunning appetizers -- equal parts gorgeous and delicious -- and the outdoor seating made it all even more perfect. Sampled - 1- Elote OR Esquite 2- Herb Guacamole ( gorgeous presentation and tasted great) 3- Queso Fundido ( best I've tried ) 4- Ceviche de Tuna ( was really appreciated) Their cocktails deserve their own spotlight -- the Condesa and OG Margarita were instant favorites The Taco Portobello ( was a unique presentation) The Pollo A la Lena The Grilled Truffle Salmon was a big hit!! The Bonemarrow With so many bold and vibrant flavors across their entrees, Oaxaca Chamblee is definitely one of those spots you'll want to go back to again and again.
So this is a really nice spot. If you wanted to have a little duck off and maybe have a small group or a date. It's also a pretty nice spot if you want to have a larger group that could sit outside. Not too large though. But this is a really good spot all together. It's Latin food so keep that in mind when you order, some of it may be topless other ones, maybe full entrees, but you can get the full Gambit of things that you're looking for here. When you come in, you'll be able to do free parking on the street. And there is a structure across the street as well. The bar area is really nice and everything is clean and the aesthetic looks very tropical. We came in for a drink because we had already eaten across the street and been meeting to try it. I had the OG margarita, which if your tequila fan, this will definitely be in your bag. They have a lot of mescal so if you want some smoke they can do that as well. They actually gave us a complimentary Margarita, but I'm not quite sure what it was necessarily, because it's not on the menu. But the fact that you gave me complimentary drinks was a big plus. The Bartender was super cool about it, he tried to explain it, but it overall a good experience.
There was some street construction the day we visited, so finding the right turn for the restaurant and parking garage was a bit tricky. Luckily, when you exit the parking garage, there are small signs that help guide you toward the hotel entrance. We had a reservation, but since it was early dinner time on a weekday, there were plenty of seats available both indoors and outdoors. The decor is really nice, stylish but comfortable. I do wish they had some backup seat cushions for customers who might need them since all the seats are hard, though that seems to be a common design choice in many restaurants nowadays. The servers were friendly, but they didn't seem too familiar with the menu. Once our food arrived, it was a little hard to get our server's attention, but any passing staff member was happy to help when we needed something. We ordered: - Ceviche de Camarón (shrimp ceviche): Fresh shrimp with a nicely balanced dressing, really good! - Esquite (corn off the cob with black garlic aioli, cotija cheese, and tajin): Flavorful and delicious. - Deep-Fried Shrimp Tacos (3 pcs): Super tasty and a favorite at our table. - Pollo a la Leña (half grilled chicken): We had the sauce on the side, but even after adding it, the chicken was still quite dry. The staff offered to add oil and regrill, but it didn't help much since the meat was already overcooked, the only disappointing dish of the night. We also had an octopus dish that I couldn't find on their online menu (forgot the name), but it was very good! It was my parents' anniversary, and they had a great time. We were too full for dessert, but we'll definitely come back the next time we're in the area.
A restaurant on my list for over a year. Finally I was able to give it a try during the fall break! And it did not let me down! Location is Chamblee dt, about 600m from Chamblee station, and it takes ~30min to get there by train. The restaurant had a huge (shaded) patio and a high-ceiling, spacious dining room. Unlike many Mexican restaurants in Atlanta, this one is decorated modernly and I like it. For food, I got the Gringuitas and side mushroom. While their Gringuitas had been triangle-shaped, what I ordered was more like folded taco -- or unclosed quesadilla. Anyway, it is a Mexican street food featuring meat and melted cheese. They put finely diced al pastor, oaxaca cheese and pineapples in it, and served with cilantro, onions, and avocado and tomatillo sauces. Everything was packed with flavor. I especially liked the al pastor -- it was rich, meaty, spicy, and the pineapple added just right amount of freshness and sweetness to it. The two dressings were also a bit spicy. The side mushroom dish was basically mushrooms sautéed with onions. A little bit too oilly to me, but luckily not very salty. The total price was $26. In short, you deserve trying this restaurant if you like Mexican food. Way better than many around Midtown, and meanwhile quite affordable. I may consider taking my friends there next time to try e.g. ceviche, bone marrow tacos, etc.
For Valentine's Day, my husband booked us a reservation here. However, he didn't realize he accidentally selected the wrong date (2/15)! He called and they said that while they were booked for indoor seating, their outdoor seating should have availability, and has heaters for comfort. We decided to give it a try! We approached the host stand and were promptly seated on the entrance porch area--a unique deviation to the norm of back porch seating at most restaurants. I actually like this! The ambiance was cozy and charming. Alexei, our server, was very kind and helpful. He showed us pictures of items we had questions about and was attentive throughout our meal. I started with a cocktail called "condesa" and my husband had "la frozen" (a frozen margarita). Mine had a cute little flower in it! We also shared the chips and salsa trio "salsas & totopos" as well as the "queso fundido." The salsas were nice! My favorite was the creamy green one. The queso was one of our favorite dishes of the evening! So melty and hot and tasty. The chips are rustic with a nice crunch, but you can also choose tortillas to be served with the queso fundido if you want. For other tapas and sides, we shared "chicharrón de pulpo" (octopus) which was very flavorful, as well as the "sautéed mushrooms." The mushrooms also had onions in them which were yummy! The dish over all could have used more spices, but it was okay! My husband got the "octopus tacos dorados" for his entrée. They were plated beautifully and were bursting with flavor! For my entrée, I got the "flor de calabaza quesadilla" (squash blossom quesadilla) and also asked for a side of Mexican rice and black beans (they can do half and half which was great). The "rice and beans" were good. My quesadilla also had that mushroom onion mix inside which helped add texture and flavor. If it wasn't such a unique dish, I'd say to maybe pass on it. Not a lot of flavor here, but visually interesting and fun to try something "different." The salsas served with it (two from the salsa trio we had for an appetizer) helped a lot. Despite being on the blander side, I still enjoyed it. I also got a secondary cocktail ("condesa's kiss") from the Valentine menu which was okay but I preferred the staple "condesa" from the main menu. Over all, a nice introduction to a different Mexican cuisine than what you're used to! I'd love to come back to try more items.
This was my first and only visit. The establishment feels very industrial: from the parking to the decor... nothing is cozy or comfortable. Mexican Coke old fashioned: good drink and I would recommend. Esquite: served in an oversized bowl so that portion seems small. The garlic aioli is overpowering making the first bite good but unable to finish as it became too much. Taco Portobello: another dish where the focus is on sauces and garnish. This could have been enjoyable with more mushrooms and less sweet sauces. I can't justify $7/taco.

It was our first time here, We thought this would be a cute place to celebrate my first mother's day, just to have a horrible experience. It took two hours to get our food! Before we got it, We were so tired of just sitting there so we didn't want to eat there, we asked if we can take it to go and the hosts all in unison said "DAMN" like it was a big problem. Hosts were absolutely rude! When we finally got our order we decided to pay before the server disappeared and she assumed the whole change was her tip...yes she was nice about everything but the assumption was absolutely rude. So i followed her up to the bar and what i assume was a manager walked up to me and asked if i need help i said," i needed my change back, she proceeded to my server, and they were taking a whilee, as they were doing that the workers around them started gossiping and rudely staring! We gave her half of it cause obviously she still helped us. But overall don't recommend. Food was not the best. There was only about one nice male server who tried to help us out while everyone else was making a big deal...overall very unprofessional and disgusting. Food was not good. Music was terrible. F*** this place... If you'd like a recommendation, PATA NEGRA IN ATL IS PRETTY GREAT, THEY HAVE GREAT SERVICE! read more
Came here on a date night, and honestly I'm glad I got to try this place out! The food was great, service was great, ambiance was casual. Seats meh. The seating is plentiful for sure and parking was a breeze. You can park in the deck and then walk into the restaurant. I got to try a variety of dishes and by the end of it I was super full. If you're looking for a different experience rather than just your quick tacos, but want a higher class type of experience I would recommend Oaxaca. I can see myself coming back here to try their brunch. The service was top notch. read more
Oaxaca has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in the area! The food, service, and ambience are always incredible. I have been several times, each time trying something different, and I've never been disappointed! I love this place!! I truly believe the attention that Oaxaca puts into the quality of their food and service is what really makes them shine. The staff is knowledgeable about their menu and is always willing to provide suggestions as needed. In particular, David (we've had him as our waiter a couple of times!) has been consistently passionate, attentive, and helpful whenever we visited! He has really added to the whole experience!! In addition to the restaurant being visually beautiful, the food is truly unmatched. You can taste how authentic everything and their masa comes directly from Oaxaca. Serving size for Mexican is really small. Price is too high for what you get. The corn is interesting but not that interesting. The ambience is nice. Service is good but price is too high. The margaritas were good, Not too sweet. read more

We tried the hamachi crudo, cochinita pibil tacos, and gorditas de chorizo y papa. The hamachi crudo was my favorite with its nice presentation with fresh flavors. We also had the churros. I like the charred corn husk. We couldn't finish the 4 churros so we took the rest home. They reheat well in the air fryer. The chocolate sauce was not sweet at all. Our server, David, was great. He made it a great dinner experience for us. read more
Location/Parking - the front door is facing Peachtree, so it's a great location. The parking deck is easy to access and there's plenty for the retail/office - just follow the signage and you can't miss it! Service - our server's name was Christian! He was very personable. He answered our questions and even recommended a favorite among some of the more regional-specific dishes. Ceviche de Camaron - it was so fresh and flavorful! Tetela de Pato - I'd never had (or heard of) a tetela before, but it was a corn masa pocket. It was similar to tamales, but the shape was a triangle instead of a tubular shape. The mole it came with was also delicious. I'm not a mole lover; I usually find it too sweet or chocolatey for my taste, but this one was smokey, tasted like chiles, and wasn't very sweet. For my entree, I got the Birria de Res. It was soooo tender. I would have added a bit of salt (personal preference), but it really was seasoned extremely well. Five stars to this new restaurant! I was looking for a place to have lunch and stumbled across Oaxaca. They have free parking in the garage behind the restaurant. We did not have a reservation, but were able to walk in and get a table. The ambiance is a rustic look and goes with the theme of the restaurant. They have indoor and covered patio seating. Our server David was EXCELLENT! He went over the menu with us and explained each item we asked about. We ordered the Clandestina and Og Mezcal Margarita for drinks. For food we got the Elote, Dobladitas de Pato, and Carnitas de Pato. The Elote was BOMB! And the rest of the food was delicious as well. I will definitely be back! read more

Discovering Oaxaca was a blessing! The Hamachi Crudo Aquachile was a refreshing starter, and a Flor Calabaza Quesadilla was my main course, and finally a delicious Deconstructed Corn Husk Meringue for dessert. We went in for a quick bite but it turned out to be a 2 hour dinner that we weren't expecting. It was good overall but just know it's not a quick walk in type of place and need a reservation to be seated. Parking wise, you can park in the guest/retail parking in the Attiva complex for free. For a soft opening, everything was great! Service was tad over the top but David did a great job with the descriptions and recommendations. My favorites were all corn related. Elote and the deconstructed corn mousse was amazing! I would just come back for the dessert! I was especially sold on the part where David told us that it was only 60 calories. Hard to believe but ill eat it regardless! The steak tlayuda was delicious with melted cheese, avocados, and dry peppers for some heat and flavor! While the chicken was tender on the Pollo a la leno, I needed little more flavor and this is where I was kind of upset. We had ordered salsa and I wanted to keep the sauces but the server took it stating that the meals came with the sauces. While it did, it wasn't the same sauces that I originally had so I would put your foot down when they ask to take away the salsa. Drink wise, we had ordered the zero proof drinks. I'm not a huge fan of blueberry or cucumber but the the drink with the cucumber was tastier and cucumber flavor was very faint. Overall, I would come back to try other dishes and it reminded me of a relaxed Palo Santos type of place. read more

First timer and it's so authentic that chips and queso is not on the menu. The margarita was awesome as well as the charro beans but the baby back ribs not so much. I understand that it's a cut of meat but a charred flavor is clearly not for me. A sauce of some kind would have gone a long way. The server was knowledgeable and particularly efficient though. Went for Saturday lunch, and was pretty quiet--love the interior decor and ambience, with the plants and fresh wooden feel. I had the fried fish tacos and churros for dessert, both of which were delicious! The fish was very flaky and tender, and I enjoyed the unique sauce it came with. The churros are always a favorite, and the dust coating is a nice addition. Our server was attentive and efficient, and our food came out pretty fast. This was our second time here, and we would be back to support this local business! read more

Everything was extremely delicious! We loved the queso fundido, tostada de tuna, ceviche de camarón, and the duck carnitas. The patio was lovely. Some small fans on the table would help with the flies. Definitely will be back to try more cocktails. read more
Came here a couple weeks ago with some friends for dinner. We made a reservation to sit inside although I wish we'd done the outdoor patio because it was so cute! We started with drinks - they have a great cocktail menu! I got the classic margarita, but would love to come back to try others. I got the carnitas de pato quesadilla and it was so delicious! Excellent, upscale Mexican food! I was caught a little off guard by the prices, which seemed awfully high for the area, but we had a really nice meal here. Their patio is beautiful and service was SO excellent and attentive. We ordered several drinks, two appetizers (highly recommend the ceviche!) and four entrees and were blown away by how good everything was. The highlight of the night for me was my dinner--the two gringuitas al pastor with homemade salsa. They also provided a very nice birthday dessert for us as one member of our party was celebrating a birthday. read more

I met up with some friends for a celebratory dinner in Chamblee, and Oaxaca did not disappoint. The food from the Oaxaca region was new to all of us, and we were excited to try it. Our server, Christian was very familiar with the menu and made some great recommendations for us. We ordered a variety of items to try. My personal favorite menu selection was the Flor De Calabaza. Everything on the menu is marked well for food allergies. I also had a fabulous Mocktail. If you are looking for the traditional American version of Mexican food, then this is not the restaurant for you. But, if you want to experience authentic Oaxaca, new flavors with an amazing, friendly staff - then I highly recommend this unique culinary experience. read more

Oaxaca is the most beautifully decorated restaurant with amazing and fresh Mexican food. The staff is insanely knowledgeable about the menu, the origins of the food, etc. Oaxaca actually imports most of their ingredients straight from Oaxaca, Mexico! The pollo de tinga tacos were so saucy and flavorful. It also came with a side of salsa, so really no need to order the salsa trio as an app! The restaurant itself is gorgeous. The rattan chairs, weaved lamp shades, and tropical plants everywhere make you feel as though you've been transported to another world outside of Atlanta. One of my new favorite ATL spots for sure. read more

We always love to eat authentic food from our country. As Mexican I've been searching for good Mexican flavors in Atlanta. Oaxaca offers authentic flavor from the Mexican state of Oaxaca located in the south part of the country. The place is nice and very clean. Our server was really nice and always ready to explain any dish or make suggestions. The ceiling is very tall and that makes the place really noisy. The sound bounces everywhere and at some point it's difficult to hear the other people in your table. I think they really need to fix this. The food was outstanding. The Tetelas as an appetizer are delicious and authentic. We also ordered pipián and the flor de calabaza quesadilla. Both were good and authentic. Their tortillas taste like Mexico. They bring the corn from Oaxaca and make the nixtamal process and grind the kernels to make tortilla dough. Amazing. BUT....... The alcohol is super expensive. We are foodies we don't drink too much and we never pay the same amount for drinks and food. We were four on the table. We ordered 4 cocktails and 4 glasses of wine. The cocktails were really good but the amount served per glass doesn't match the price at all. All were very well presented but with liquid and ice filling was half small glasses. Probably it's the smallest margarita I've ever seen in a Mexican restaurant. We had 4 glasses of wine (standard tall glass) and those were 100 dlls on the check. The food was excellent, the food price was fair and reasonable. But the alcohol is ridiculously expensive. Be careful. Ask the price of the wine glass before order. read more

Was very impressed with The entirety of our experience! Atmosphere inside looked great but we were dining with a baby so we opted for the patio. The great thing about the patio is that it's completely covered, so when severe weather struck while we were there nobody was stuck under umbrellas running inside. They simple shut the 3 huge garage doors that can open or close to air out or completely close up the space as needed. We were most impressed by the temperature. It's the dead middle of summer in Georgia and it was nice and cool on the patio. Why? The countless fans they have mounted up top for industrial airflow. The service was perfect. There was extra management overseeing every interaction and checking in to ensure things were running smoothly too. The only complaint was that they were so focused on pre bussing and ensuring tables were clear that more than once they took away unfinished plates or drinks from our table. The food was all great. Some a little more "worth the price" than others but we enjoyed everything. The elote was honestly the best part for me. It was perfectly seasoned, and could have eaten two! We both felt drinks were a bit over priced for the serving size. For $14 the cocktails were over large ice cubes in half filled glasses. The presentation was nice but I'd take a beer or water over paying for a couple sips (max) in one of the margaritas next time. Really enjoyed. Looking forward to returning. read more

I was so excited to eat at this restaurant, after looking at the menu, and following them on Instagram... But it was a little bit of a letdown. We shared the elote to start, and it was outstanding. The biggest disappointment was that the poached eggs on all of the breakfast dishes were well done. The flavors were good, particularly with the chilaquiles. The birria was very flavorful too. The patio is very comfortable and makes you forget that you are right on Peachtree. And the service was really outstanding. Ultimately the three stars is because of the food and the lack of execution. read more

Service was top notch - every associate in the restaurant was friendly and helpful. Our server Carla was lovely. Almost the entire menu is gluten free, with the exception of any menu items that have NGF next to it (about 3 main entrees from the menu). Bathrooms are bright and clean. Another beautiful restaurant that lacks quality food. We've been waiting for this Mexican restaurant to open for about 6 months now. My family and I went with high expectations. While the service was definitely up to par, the food didn't measure up. We ordered the elote and the guacamole to start. The corn was probably the best thing we had during our time there, highly recommend. The guacamole was decent, very fresh - maybe missing a bit of seasoning. My fish tacos were terrible, there was entirely too much batter and again a lack of seasoning. I should've opted for a fish that wasn't fried. My cousin wasn't impressed by her burrito and my other cousin wasn't impressed by her adobo steak quesadilla. I will say that the cocktails were absolutely amazing. Fantastic service and the food is so fresh! Definitely more traditional Mexican food and not anywhere near Americanized. If you aren't used to this kind of cuisine, Google and the servers is your best bet for an amazing meal. Take their recommendations! Also make sure to make a reservation in advance. read more

Excellent flavors from Oaxaca. From the fresh masa and spices brought in from Mexico to the hand made tortillas, the flavors from each dish are amazing. The hamachi crudo, hamachi tostada, shrimp ceviche, branzino, carne asada and half or whole chicken are a must try. Great flavors in each and every dish. The duck was amazing as well. I've been at least 4 times now since they recently opened. Happy to hear that they are now open for lunch. From a service standpoint they are doing pretty well for only being open for several weeks now. The service is however, dare I say, a little to aggressive and over the top at times as on at least two different dining visits with a group, we were interrupted a little too often while we all were conversing amongst each other. Additionally, plates were taken away a little too quickly even when there was still food to be had. A little bit more wait staff training will however fix these issues. As for adult beverages, they have quite a few craft cocktails that will please any cocktail aficionado. The cocktails are well thought out and balanced, not too sweet. The drink called Obsession was my favorite although several others came a close second. As for dessert to end the night, the churros are done perfectly. I also tried a corn based dessert, deconstructed corn husk meringue and the tres leche. All three desserts had great presentation and great flavors. Can't wait for spring time as they have a huge patio that will be a perfect spot to have a nice cold beverage. Looking forward to the next visit, Oaxaca. Welcome to the neighborhood! read more

Ambiance, service and cocktails were definitely outstanding. I had high expectations for this restaurant, but unfortunately I was not impressed with the food. I ordered a cafe de olla, Hamachi Crudo, gorditas de chorizo y papa and papas bravas. The masa on the gorditas was dry and flavors could have been richer. Will definitely return and try other dishes. read more
