    2006 LR3

I recently purchased a 2006 LR3 and needed a knowledgeable mechanic to help me. I spoke to Junior over the phone and knew that I had found the right shop to service my LR3. I am looking forward to becoming a long-term client of OC Rover! RG-

"ABS pops up if over 50 mph" . Not true. I could be going 5-10 miles per hour and the ABS will pop up.
    Troy P.

I came to this shop because I read good reviews and so I was comfortable taking my LR2 to get my AC fixed, Fix the ABS light that wouldn't go away, and try to figure out why the "low coolant level" light came on even when I was filling it everyday. So I brought it to OC Rovers, they were really cool and friendly, asked questions about the repairs and soon enough I was leaving my LR2 there and went home. About a day passes and they text me saying they have the invoice for all the repairs they were going to do and charge me for, paid over $1000. Yes they fixed my AC which is one of the main issues I was having, but on the invoice I was very confused because they charged me for a "Radiator Plastic Tank" because apparently the radiator was leaking coolant so they replace the plastic tank that holds the coolant when they clearly wrote on the invoice it was the radiator that was leaking the coolant? So that's $500 for the plastic tank I didn't need and $500 for labor. They removed my left rear wheel hub bearing for whatever reason and replaced it and charged me for that. So I pick my car up. The AC works, awesome! But the ABS light is still popped up when I specifically said the AC and ABS light were my only concerns and they wrote that on the invoice but didn't fix it and charged me a ton for a part I didn't need and labor that wasn't necessary. Also, my car was at that shop for nearly a week and everyday I would text asking if the car was ready and I was just getting told no no no everyday, not like I need my car to go to my job ya know? They were never able to figure out why the ABS light wouldn't go away they said they "think" it's the ABS Module that needs to be replaced but I couldn't pay another $500 for that so I didn't get that fixed. ABS light is still on, now my check engine light is on when it was not before I took my car to them. Never had it pop up on my dash before I brought it to OC Rovers. They didn't fix anything. I paid $1000 for some half ass labor. Very very frustrating. Now my car is over heating if I drive around with the AC on for too long like it's 500 degrees outside and if I want to drive my car I probably shouldn't turn on the AC so it won't over heat which it does every time. I TRUSTED YOU GUYS AND YOU DIDN'T FIX MY CAR AT ALL YOU MADE IT WORSE. Even on the invoice they stated they weren't able to fix the ABS light popping up so like what were you guys doing the whole 4-5 days my car was there???? This place shouldn't be given so much credit they're not trust worthy.

One of the most impressive places I've dealt with in years. If you have a Land Rover product, you better bring it here. I'm a first time customer, and will now be a lifetime customer. Responsive, fast, friendly and most importantly very very experienced. Worth every penny. Thank you.

Huge thanks to Gerry and Junior for installing the 2" OME lift on my 03 Discovery 2. Awesome customer service! You earned a loyal customer today. Best part is the kids love their "monster truck"

Time for another service, need 2 catalytic converter ( stolen ) and some engine . Wouldn't take my car anywhere but OCrovers, the crew is knowledgeable about the brand and always treats me like a family friend. Thanks Lou

    New expansion tank.

These guys are great. I've been taking my 04 Discovery here for a little over a year with no issues. They never upsell or try to dig you out over extra repairs. I had them put in an expansion tank over a year ago and recently took my truck in for a transmission service and they noticed that the expansion tank they put it was cracking again and swapped it out for a brand new metal expansion tank at no cost. Pictures of the before and after are attached. Shop is good people, timely work and good prices.

Some of the customer cars bring worked on.

It was not. He was wedged in there for 12 hours with no food, no water, and zero litter box access. He was absolutely losing it. I ran through every option. Fire department? Busy with the actual chemical explosion rattling all of OC, fair. Animal control? Ghosted me. My cousin, currently out of the country, tried Tesla Roadside Assistance through the app. Tesla's answer: their technicians are not trained to rescue animals. Noted, but deeply unhelpful in the moment. Two other mechanics passed too. Jesse was my third Yelp attempt and my last real option. He showed up within two hours, no fuss, and got straight to work. He tried everything - the frunk, underneath, removing the right wheel - methodically working different angles for an hour and a half because my cat had chosen the most inconvenient possible position to be chonky in. Jesse stayed patient the entire time and got him out safely. My cat is home. He is fine. He is completely unbothered, as cats are. Jesse showed up when nobody else could. That is not something I will forget. Oh, and his prices are insanely reasonable. If you need a mechanic who will actually show up and problem-solve, Jesse is your guy.

My experience was called to book on Monday morning, quoted the price based on easy to describe work and an appointment for Wednesday at 8AM. So I adjust my schedule and am ready. No show, no answer calls or texts until a call at 930 - where he apologizes for issues on Tuesday and will show up at 5PM. Fine. I'll adjust my evening plans too. An organized person would have adjusted plans and communicated Wednesday if they had issues/delays Tuesday. Then, at 2PM calls back and says looking more like 530PM. And then he says... oh? Did I give you a price already? Oh that's actually a lot of work and says it'll actually cost 60% more. That was enough to call it quits. While I can't speak to his mechanic abilities, he fell short on: 1) being able to accurately understand and estimate work before quoting, or worse, stick to his quote when he gets busy 2) ability to plan his schedule and communicate reasonably. I hope he learns from this and other experiences and reaches his potential through better consistency.

Unfortunately, it looks like I missed the hay day of this service. I attempted to book a spot online. When I never received a confirmation I called the shop on Tuesdaty. I was told they were short staffed, but the guy on the phone confirmed me for 10am on Sunday. I asked him to make sure there would be a lift available since I was coming a distance. He said there was plenty of room. Fast forward to Sunday. I show up at 10:00 and no one is there. The place looks like it went out of business by the looks of the grounds. Weeds growing out of the pavement, random trash and debris all over the place. However, I decided to give him a chance and wait to see if maybe he's a few minutes late. When he doesn't appear by 10:30 I call, no answer. I call again at 10:45, once again no answer. At 11:15 I give up and head home. At 12:15 he finally calls back because he just got to the garage and tells me I can come back. I let him know I'm already on my way home and to far to come back. This is a classic example of a great idea run by someone who is to lazy to actually run a business.

I chose them because they are well rated, specialize in BMW and are close by. I dropped off my car for an inspection and shared with Noel what occurred at the dealer. The inspection was performed in less than 2 hours and the list of recommendations was similar but came in at a fraction of the dealer "urgent" repair work. Discussed all with Noel and based on our situation (keep or sell?) he helped us make our choice. Appreciate their transparency and advice. They are professional and straight forward.

Finding Ronin Autowerks was the exact opposite experience. Noel Carbajal has been my service advisor twice now, and his transparency is incredible. He takes the time to walk through every recommendation, clearly distinguishing between immediate repair versus those that are safe to hold off within a certain time frame. No pressure, no hidden agendas--just straightforward, professional advice! Just recently, I went to the dealership because I have the 3-year pre-paid plan. However, they refused to help with an "oil top-off" warning and tried to charge me a $319 diagnostic fee for a potential leak. I drove straight to Ronin Autowerks and even without an appointment, Noel took care of it immediately. Ronin Autowerks is a small shop. Don't expect a lounge with selection of free beverages and spread of snacks while you wait for your car, but here is the bottom line: I would rather have a straightforward, honest advisor like Noel who saves me hundreds of dollars over some fancy amenities. If you want a shop that prioritizes your car and your wallet - this is the place!
