The booth we sat in had a beautiful and asymmetrical heavy wooden table top polished to a brilliant shine, and there were a surprising number of diners there at noonish, on a Tuesday... what's that tell you? Now: the food! *First, for the technically challenged, be warned that the menu is available via phone and QR Code. If you want a printed menu, too bad. Otherwise... We began our meal with Agedashi Tofu, which is fried cubes of tofu that have a magnificently thin layer of a crisp skin encasing melted tofu, and there's a perfect sauce to dip them in. I have been thinking about these for an hour now and can't even imagine how they are made. A delicious magic trick! Next, we had an Eel and Shrimp Tempura Roll, a Shrimp Tempura Bento Box, and two Nigiri and Sashimi lunch specials. The Tempura was light and crisp. The bento box included a spring roll, fried rice, and gyoza, all perfectly flavored. The Nigiri and Sashimi fish was served cold and absolutely fresh, and was sliced generously. The Nigiri and Sushi lunches included a California roll, 4 pieces of sushi, and six pieces of sashimi, and really was a lot of excellent food for a bargain $24. I almost forgot that we started, along with the Agedashi Tofu, with a very subtly flavored miso soup with tofu and seaweed. This was also perfection, with just a breath of ginger and perfect salt. I hope I've convinced you fans of Japanese food to try this restaurant. If you're new to Japanese food's many varieties and intricacies, or hesitant to eat raw foods, there are always cooked meat and fish dishes like Tempura or Teriyaki you can order, and then you can explore by tasting the more exotic things your friends and family order. From their modern design, to friendly waiters, and high tech feel to even the fragrance and aroma of the restaurant upon entering, SeaSan Sushi Bar truly nails it. Our party of 8 didn't have a reservation but thankfully they were able to seat us despite them being busy albeit we had to all fit into one large booth but we managed and were thankful they accommodated our large party so quickly. The food was wonderful, filling, and their ayce menu has a lot of options to choose from. The main star of the show here was the salmon dishes from awesome appetizers, to nigiri, to sashimi salmon here is high quality, fresh, and delicious! Green tea is great here as well as the desserts and specialty dishes. Our waiter Leandro was spectacular and very friendly, courteous, and quick. And even though the pace was certainly not lackadaisical, we did not feel rushed at all, which is unusual for a Magical Dining reservation. As for the food, for a $60 menu, they had their work cut out for them. would coming here be worth paying $40 total for both our meals? Long story short, yes, absolutely it was. Apps Maguro Truffle (tuna, bubu arare, shiitake crèma, balsamic truffle soy, serrano peppers). This was banging. Huge slabs of fresh tuna, covered in crispy crunchy little circles, and that shiitake crema, very umami, I licked the plate. I wasn't about to let any of that go to waste. Hamachi Carpaccio (Japanese yellowtail, yuzu tobiko, ponzu, kaffir lime oil, yuzu kosho, serrano peppers). This was not carpaccio. It was a menu play with the wagyu carpaccio right above it. But it was five excellent slices of fresh hamachi with a very bright sauce that it was laying in. Generous slices, too. Great apps. Mains Berkwood St. Louis Sticky Ribs (braised, then crispy tempura, tossed in smoked chili, hoisin sauce). I'll say it, these were the best Asian ribs I've ever had in Orlando. Tempura crispy exterior, melt in your mouth interior, and whatever they tossed it in, including sesame seeds, formed a beautiful little crust on the outside. Best bite of the night. Hands down. Two Makimono (pick 2: tom yum roll, hawaiian x.o roll, booki booki roll, spicy tuna roll). Tom Yum (panko shrimp, avocado, topped with torched salmon, tom yum aioli, thai chili flakes, micro cilantro, lemon wedge). Hawaii XO (yellowtail, avocado, tobanjan aioli, crispy shallots, topped with white fish, lemon confit, kaiware, pink salt). Both were very good rolls. The Tom Yum aioli was a very unique touch, which is what I was looking for. I'm so jaded with rolls nowadays, I really need to be impressed. The Hawaii roll was nice, too. Looking back, I don't recall or see any crispy shallots. Make sure to compare your rolls to the menu when you come here. Desserts C4 (chocolate lava cake with dulce de leche, vanilla ice cream, and chocolate ganache sauce). This was good. Textbook lava cake with all the decadent flavors you except, and a nice, cold ice cream to pair perfectly with it. Ube Cheesecake +$8 (graham cracker crust, topped with torched meringue, toasted coconut). Only two dollars more on the regular menu, but eight dollars more here. I still wanted it so badly, but I recommend you pass on this upgrade. It was a very good ube cheesecake, but it was not add-eight-dollars better than the creme brulee would have been. Overall, Kabooki is a very good little spot. With everyone and their mother offering fresh fish and sushi rolls nowadays, Kabooki stands above a lot of them in terms of quality and quantity of their offerings. There were 6 Shumai in the order and they were of a generous size with ample filling and delicate dough. The dipping sauce was already on the bottom of the bowl, which I liked rather than trying to dip them in another container. The green mussels were also prepared differently as I've usually had them cooked whole with the sauce on top; however, these were cut up into small pieces and then mixed with the sauce and masago. They were a bit charred which I did like. All of the sushi was delicious but the stand outs were the oasis (love me a good lemon slice on sushi) as a fantastic rice- less option, and the Mimi roll as my out of comfort pick. I don't think I had ever had apple in sushi before but I was so surprised by how much I enjoyed it! The sweetness and the crunch really paired well with the asparagus and the spicy filling.
