Ocean Sushi is as good as it gets when it comes to sushi on staten island. Their food is always super fresh and the staff is so helpful when it comes to choosing what kind of dishes you may like. I recently came in with a group of about 15 friends and family and the whole staff was so accomodating when it came to ordering our food and cocktails. (Which were delicious btw!) I highly recommend giving them a try if you haven't already! Will definitely be a regular from now on. read more

I'm very disappointed in this place. Today my husband and I ordered chicken fried rice and the chicken was chewy as hell and the food needed more flavor. We had the food delivered so when we called to let them know that we did not like our food, we asked to speak to the manager (Michelle) and she was very rude. She told us that other customers don't complain about the chicken fried rice and we said to her "not to compare us to other customers because today the chicken does not taste good." Sidenote for their business, every day will be different, there will be customers that don't enjoy their food all the time. So far we ordered at this place maybe four times and the food has usually been good, but today for some reason, the chicken was not good. The chicken tasted like it was old. And she had poor customer service. read more

Came here for dinner on a Friday night. The place was very crowded, but my girlfriend and I were able to find a seat at the bar. We ordered several of the special rolls. There are some unique rolls on the menu that combine multiple types of fish. All of them tasted excellent and had an excellent presentation. The menu is very big on sauces, many of the rolls come with 1 or more sauces on them. The workers were all very friendly, and quick to refill our waters. I've been eating sushi on Staten Island for almost 20 years, and I would say this is currently the best place on Staten Island. I would highly recommend to any sushi eaters to check it out. read more

Ocean is a nice change from the other sushi restaurants on staten island. Their fish is fresh and nicely plated. The servers are very helpful and amicable. I was pleasantly surprised that there was valet parking which was nice. Also there was a nice variety of chef special rolls, the ones we tried were delicious! My husband and I are usually in Staten Island to hang out with friends and family. Anyway, we were in the area and in the mood for sushi. Looked up sushi restaurants in Staten Island on Yelp and all reviews lead us to Ocean Sushi. The sushi was unbelievable!!! It was so fresh and tasty!!! We had the white fish appetizer. The sauce complimented this dish very nicely. I loved the angry dragon roll as my husband devoured his spicy fatty tuna roll. And I cannot say enough of the lychee martinis, delicious!!! I cannot wait to go back to Ocean for more sushi. The only very minor drawback is the plastic chopsticks. They make it hard to pick up the sushi since the pieces had a tendency to slide off. Wood chopsticks will help avoid this from happening. read more

We returned this afternoon for lunch. The owner (who is lovely) welcomed us back, which is always a nice touch. Once again we were served delicious, fresh sushi. We had maki lunch specials and a sexy girl roll served with two sauces. Excellent rolls - yellowtail and scallion handrolls are perfect, the right amount of fish and rice. We will have to try more specialty rolls next visit. It's not busy, but I can't see it staying that way once the word gets out. read more

Best sushi in Staten Island!!!! This is the only place I get sushi since they have opened and I'm never let down with the quality, service, and atmosphere. Every time I go or order take out, I try something different and always enjoy it. Michelle is also such a sweet heart and loves to make her customers happy and satisfied. I have ordered online a bunch of times and find it super easy when you don't feel like sitting down or wanna grab something quick. This is my absolute favorite place for sushi on the entire island! After eating here I feel like to eat at any other sushi restaurant would be a sin. The fish is always fresh and they have a great assortment of specialty rolls. The black Angel roll and the hot lovers roll being two of my favorites along with many others. We ate at Hokkaido on Amboy for years, and were so excited to find that Michelle was opening another restaurant a little closer to home. The food is outstanding, always fresh and delicious, the wait staff is attentive, and the place is attractive and clean. Love the black pepper tuna and the sashimi nest apps especially, for rolls you really can't go wrong. I would like to give this restaurant five stars, because the sushi was very good. Fresh, the tuna was high quality, the gyoza was delicious. The service was friendly. However, we are reluctant to return because my wine and my boyfriend's martini were almost nonexistent. He could not taste the vodka at all, so he asked for a new one, but the second one was the same. My wine was good, but there was maybe 3 ounces in the glass, not even a normal serving. When a restaurant charges $20 for two drinks, you expect decent drinks. We're not heavy drinkers, but we like to have a drink with dinner, and these took away from the experience. My boyfriend used the word "distracting," and that seems right; we would have really enjoyed the dining experience, but we were distracted by the drinks not complementing the food. This may sound nitpicky, but I would think a lot of people like to have a cocktail or glass of wine, and if this restaurant would not be so stingy with the alcohol, we would be happy to return. If you don't want alcohol with your dinner, I'm sure you would enjoy eating here. read more

Went here for a casual night out with my lady.Its located in a strip mall adjacent to the Annadale train station and a small park in front of it. It's. A nicer strip mall then most and there seems to be another establishment to the right that may be a bar or lounge. Cars were all very nice, lots of Cadillacs and mercedes among other high end cars to give you an idea of the patrons. Immediate service upon walking in as there was a hostess at the door to greet you who also asked us if we have ever been, assured us we would enjoy our experience and came over to the table periodically throughout the evening and asked if everything was okay. Decor was nicer than most, lighting was just right, ambience is casual to trendy. They have a bar, I didn't get a good look if it was fully stocked but I'm sure it has the average bicardis and Jack Daniels of the world but I wouldn't expect any 18 year old Scotch or Johnny walker blue, etc. Food was good, everything seemed to be of decent quality and portion however nothing that stands out either, simply up to par with a nicer than average decor and good service. Prices were decent, average. We have since ordered take out from them and the quality was the same. Again nothing to write home about but an overall decent place. read more

I went with my hubby on date night. We usually go to the big sushi restaurants, like Takayama and Fushimi, we have also been to a few of the small ones, which are just ok in my opinion, BUT this place, although smaller, has some of the best special rolls I have ever had, even better than some of the rolls I've had at the bigger places lately. When the fish is FRESH, (thats the most important thing) and its done right, sushi is the best, but when it's even a little fishy I don't like it, and of course you have to worry about eating raw fish thats not perfectly fresh, but this sushi here was awesome! And the service was friendly, the drinks were good, and it's cozy for dinner. The three rolls I had were, 'Sexy Girl', 'Hot Lover', and the 'New Yorker', (I know right ??) and they were delicious! But they have a huge selection of special rolls, that I'm sure are just as good. I was very impressed. I also had the 'Under The Sea', which was good, especially if you like salmon, but the other three are my favs for sure. For dessert we tried the 'Funky Monkey' special roll, (with the banana and shrimp,) and the fried banana with ice cream, which were both yummy, and they gave us a fried oreo and ice cream, and two different after dinner cordials to try, on the house, which was so nice of them. I wish it was a bigger place, with a bigger bar, but the place is definitely cool. Plus they have a buy two drinks and get the third free, or something like that.
