Fish quality leaves much to be desired. Portions are small. 3 deliveries in 3 months and each time they messed up the order, forgot something but each time the quality was poor. I don't know why so many reviewers make 5 star reviews for this place. The location is nice but short of that it's beyond me as to why people say the food here is good. So I decided to order some teriyaki thinking perhaps their kitchen makes good food there and I ordered the salmon and a friend ordered chicken. Salmon was crazy over cooked and the chicken was hard to chew. Very poor ingredients and we could both tell the meat was frozen before hand. Must go! For such a small restaurant on the island in a plaza, they left me very impressed. Definitely one of my new favorite sushi restaurants. The service was amazing. Everyone was very attentive, and the owner was making her rounds taking time to talk with the patrons of each table, which is always a nice gesture to see in restaurants. Fresh sushi for a very reasonable price. My fiance and I ordered the Brooklyn Bridge for 2 and it was beautifully presented and offered a nice assortment of sushi, sashimi and 2 rolls. We were running late to an event afterwards and the server was quick to accomodate our rushed requests. The owner came out to ask how the food was and was very welcoming. The place was packed on a Saturday evening but we had no trouble getting reservations an hour before arriving. By far the best sushi resterant ever , everything is so delicious, best rock shrimp, tasty gyoza and delicious kani salad, my favorite rolls are black angel and pineapple fried rice is so tasty with cashews, shrimp, crab stick. Went there Saturday night and I was very impressed. The food and the service was excellent. Ordered a few rolls, steak teriyaki and best of all the sushi burger! The sushi burger isn't on the menu, but it is amazing. It's basically spicy salmon, avocado, lettuce and crunch in between two fried wonton wrappers. I should have taken a picture. It was great and I don't like avocado. The waitress was very nice and checked-in on us regularly, but not to the point of being annoying. One of the best sushi places I've eaten at. I live in Bayonne and usually stay in New Jersey but last night I wanted to try something across the bridge in Staten Island (even though it costs like 16 dollars to get there). The restaurant was small but it was crowded and after waiting around 15 minutes we were sat. We had a few appetizers and then ordered 5 rolls (a bit more then we should have) and all of them were excellent. It was a bit expensive, but I expect to pay a good price for good sushi. This place is fantastic! They will basically make whatever roll you want. I eat there often and one day she presented my with an "avocado ball" which is basically a ball of spicy tuna wrapped in avocado and sitting in the most amazing sauce I ever had. She also gave me "used wasabi sauce" which I now get every time. It's not spicy it's just a great alternative to soy sauce. That's why I like going there, they really enjoy their craft and are genuinely nice people. The foods great, the decor is great, it's clean and friendly. Prices are moderate but definitely worth it. Food was absolutely excellent!! For a Saturday night my girlfriend and I were seated right away. Food was great! We had the Kani salad and rock shrimp tempura as an appetizer which were delicious! I had the chicken teriyaki with a California roll on the side which was very good and had a lot of chicken on the plate. My girlfriend got the Philadelphia roll and the spicy dancing Kani roll and both were very good as well! Wait staff was very pleasant and always around if we needed anything. My wife and I decided to try Ocean based on the great reviews it received here on Yelp and we're glad we did! The place isn't big but there's a few TV's behind the bar if you want to watch a big game. The food is standard Japanese but it's a notch better than most we've tried. My wife loved her Chilean sea bass and I enjoyed my yaki udon dish. We had a specialty roll and it was very fresh and good. The crabmeat purse appetizer was unreal! Do not trust these people, Outside the strip mall, where the store is located ; the owner demanded 35 dollars from my son claiming that he didn't pay the bill from two weeks prior.. She stated, "Your father and you drank beers and sake at the bar and You walked out of my restaurant without paying the bill", and he was forced to pay 36 dollars.
