I happened to stumble across this place on yelp and I'm so glad I did because I was definitely not disappointed! It was my first time there and I was kindly offered some suggestions by the employees and decided to have the tuna melt add avocado because avocado makes everything better! My only complaint( not even a complaint really) is that it may be a little overpriced for the price of the sandwich but still very very good and great hospitality! While most restaurants have voluminous menus that are overwhelming, this lovely lunch place has a very reasonable menu, and their menu board makes the selections fast and easy. Now let's talk about those sandwiches! They not only make their own toothsome, chewy whole grain bread, they grind the wheat themselves! They also grow their own sprouts, so you know they're safe. The crab melt is my friend's favorite and it never disappoints. The first sandwich I had there was the tuna - I am loathe to ever order this out because, frankly, my own is so damned fine! For years I've gone to the barber shop next door and have always been curious to try this place. Well I finally did and I can say that it was just ok. The bread was fresh, as advertised, but my crab salad sandwich was more of a cucumber, tomatoes and mayo sandwich. The biggest disappointment was the tomato soup though. I'd had such high hopes after reading so many favorable reviews but it honestly tasted like spaghetti sauce. It really did. I've never tomato soup this thick and robust. Went for lunch... this is at the end - side -- of a strip mall. Hard to spot from main parking lot-- we drove past it before spotting it and figuring out where to park. They make their own honey wheat bread which was small thick slices but not very tasty. Cold cute were nothing special. For the price I expected fresh roasted turkey breast sliced for my sandwich -- but I got pressed turkey roll of some sort. Potato salad was small portion and equally flavorless -- mayonnaise based and chilled --- ok--- but with flavorless bits of bacon which detracted rather than added any sort of flavor or texture. Excellent, fast friendly service! We were visiting family and all enjoyed the nice, clean outdoor patio area. The tasty, freshly baked bread was apparent to three family members that ordered BALTs. They loved them! I had a yummy chicken salad with the homemade garlic vinaigrette and a slice of buttered bread. It was delicious! Kids really enjoyed their strawberry smoothies. First of all, the food was okay, but I've had way better at Subway. The main concern of mine is that none of the employees wore gloves while preparing food. While it may not be against the law to not wear gloves, I never saw any of the employees wash their hands even after they had dealt with customers, been on the phone, or handled money. There were also a few employees that didn't have their hair up to keep it from getting in the food. It's just a bit disgusting to see someone manhandling your sandwich before you eat it and you don't know where their hands have been or what they have under their fingernails! Great place. Staff are great. Ofelia is such a sweet lady. The sandwiches are so great. The bread there is handmade and is delicious. Great little place that is out of sight and off to the side of a shopping center but there are always a few people in there and Ofelia is always working hard bustling around in the kitchen. Okay - so when I got to this place I was a little skeptical. It's tucked away to the side of a run down strip mall and it looked like maybe there was a hick-ville gimp fest going on behind the closed blinds... however... the place is DOPE!!! The turkey pastrami sandwich is seriously one of the best sandwiches I've had. I'm from LA and Langer's is the shiznit for pastrami - but Ofelia's healthy alternative blew my mind. Not only that, she makes her own bread!! And split pea soup... holy cra# that was awesome. Anyway - it's always nice to find a place where you actually shouldn't judge a book by its cover. This little place is a wonderful cafe with great healthy food and we love Ofelia and her family they are such great people. It's really nice to have a shop that is really dedicated to making healthy sandwiches and soups, and their frozen yogurt is to die for. I love their chicken salad sandwich and tuna salad as well. Their soups change routinely but I have yet to be disappointed. I haven't tried their broccoli soup yet but I've been told that it's really good as well. This is the way sandwiches should be made! Y U C K!!! After reading reviews and rating on yelp I was very hopeful this place was going to be great.. I was so disappointed.. We arrived around 11:30.The soups weren't heated all the way so they had to microwave them. If you order Chicken Noodle soup, wouldn't it be a realistic expectation to have some chicken in your soup? Well sadly there was not a single piece.. And it's similar to those little packets of dry chicken noodle soup from lipton that comes in a two pack and has those little vermicelli noodles.. SUCKY!! We also had ordered the broccoli soup which was even worse.. It was bland and had a slimy consistency.. The only redeeming part of our lunch was the overpriced sandwich, the bread was fresh and good. Overall the sandwich was a 7 out of 10 for taste.. My boyfriend and I each got a sandwich and large soup, the cost was $22!! I feel like I threw my money away just like the soup I poured down the drain ... NEVER AGAIN. We had taken the food to go so I wasn't inclined to drive all the way back for a refund.. Ofelia's is a little oasis! We stopped by here on a motorcycle road trip, and needed to fuel our bellies before heading back into the hills. The food was healthy and yummy, and the service (likely Ofelia) was friendly and adorable. My cream cheese and avocado veggie sandwich on toast hit the spot and saved us from eating poorly on the road. The peanut butter and banana sandwich caught my eye for next time.
