BF and I have been here a handful of times since they opened and have decided this might be our go to spot in the neighborhood when we don't feel like cooking and don't want to wait for a table. The ambiance is old fashioned but in the good way of a marble counter, shining brass, and leather benches. Also mirrors mirrors everywhere, except the bathroom. The manager(?) knows the menu and beverages and is quick about everything. (I wish there were 2 more of him.) He is constantly chipping in to help the slow waitstaff and behind the bar. On the topic of the waitstaff, there is clearly a learning curve and our most recent visit, last night, the waitress who we've had almost every time we've been there was finally on top of everything. She used to be in the weeds, all the time. We tipped her extra well for the good job, last night. We're looking forward to having her again, next time. As far as the food, we have never been disappointed! I don't really like pizza but I certainly like theirs. It's thin crust and they are generous with the toppings. The dough is perfectly salted with the perfect amount of char. We've seen the same chef there with each of our meals, and he's great. My florentine calzone during our first meal convinced me that their pizza must be something special so we made it a point to go back for dinner. I now find myself craving their food. A salad (we've tried them all at this point and the arugula with goat cheese is our fav), a pizza (they're all good but the build your own with the lamb sausage, mushrooms, and artichokes was the one we've both agreed is our favorite so far), and a bottle of lovely Italian wine from their well curated list is an easy and delicous week night meal for 2. With our tip, it ran us about $80 all in, with the wine being about half the cost. If we didn't drink, it would be a nice and inexpensive meal. But we do. Sigh. I think this restaurant is in Prospect Heghts since it's on the Western Side of Washington but I'm splitting hairs. Give it a try. I think you'll have a delicious meal! read more

First off- service is appalling. Waitstaff should take a cue from the bartender who was professional, attentive, friendly. Waited forever for a table when several parties had left at once. The tables laid empty for at least ten minutes. No clue where the waiter was. Set those damn tables up and fast. Took another 15 minutes to take out order. We were ready to walk at this point. No one waited on the people at the door. Just stood there for an uncomfortable amount of time looking confused. Terrible. Pizza was meh. Not bad, not particularly great. Very, very overpriced. Have now gone twice, with different groups, and both times were great! I've liked everything I've had- the buratta, the c antelope and prosciutto, and the olives appetizers. Have sampled four to five different pizzas, each quite delicious. The atmosphere is really nice, and the wine list is wonderful. The first time, the bartender sent us over a lovely glass of dessert wine, and the second time the server recommended a fantastic dessert we quite enjoyed. This is a welcome addition to the neighborhood, and I hope that it stays but enjoys some obscurity for a little longer to delay the invariable s-show of long lines, strollers, and obnoxious foodie types. I am serious about my pizza and I have been to all of the top rated places in Brooklyn and Manhattan, as well as New Haven, Boston and Chicago. I can tell you that this pizza is top 3 of anywhere that I have been. In Brooklyn the only places that are on par with Ogliastro are Robertas and Frannys and the Margarita pie here is as good as any. Extremely good pizza, with great crust (not at all oily), and with several great flavor combos. Came here for dinner with a group of 12 people, and we ordered 10 different pies -- I got to try 9 of them, I think. The seafood one with the clams on it was one of the least interesting. Most of the others were fantastic. Can't comment much on service since somebody else in the group was handling the ordering. I like the ambiance and the relaxed attitude of staff. Oh, and price was outrageously low: like, $24 a head and I had 10 slices of pizza + two glasses of wine. Ha, remembering that, I'm raising the review to five stars. Go here. My friend and i visited Botanical Garden and we were looking for a place to eat...so, we saw this place and we decided to give it a try. We had lunch in the garden. Pizza with spinach and ricotta , insalada Siciliana and tiramisu for desert. The place was clean, the outdoor garden was excellent and the food was decadent!!! The food is good but service is TERRIBLE. It wasn't even busy. A table next to us left because their third dessert order never arrived. One of our pizzas was never even ordered so it took another 30 minutes of asking and waiting before we realized it wasn't happening. I spent 63 dollars at this place for "happy hr ".Lets just say the only happy person was the asshole of a server who refused to serve me happy hour prices even though I was " at the bar" as the menu required. There are two women who work at this establishment who are quite nice. But John Doe, the server, will never get another dime of my money. He turned a birthday celebration into a financial fiasco as me and my hard working New York State employees working with New York's toughest youth were forced to pay nearly 400 dollars for mediocre wine and delicious pizza. Nice outdoor patio space which seems like a great gathering spot for families with kids. Delicious pizza and salads to share among of us. We tried RUCOLA E PESCHE salad, CARBONARA and AGNELLO pizzas. We wanted to try one of the pizzas (which sorry, can't remember anything about now except is sounded good) but server let us know they were suddenly on a different menu that didn't include one of our choices. I used to give this place 5 stars back when Emmy the server and Jess the bartender worked here. They were the best thing that ever happened to this place but sadly neither work here anymore. To the rest of the staff and every other server for that matter: WRITE ORDERS DOWN PEOPLE!!!!! All of the servers refuse to write anything down and ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS mess up the order. It's comical at this point but still super annoying. As far as food goes, the pizza is actually better than barboncino on Franklin and I can honestly say I've always loved everything I've ordered. He walks to it in the under 40 degree Fahrenheit weather. When he goes to grab the door, it is locked. If it is going to be posted that you are open til 1am you damn sure better be open. I cannot even give this restaurant a single star - it was that bad. We had a pre-arranged party of 17 going on a Saturday in early December for a 30th birthday celebration for my daughter. When we arrived were immediately aware that there was only 1 server, 1 cook, 1 bartender and 1 dishwasher on staff. people arrived in groups of 4 or 5 over a period of 15 minutes of our reservation. As we sat we were asked for drink orders. It took 20 minutes for the first drinks to get to anyone and it got worse from there. My nephew ordered a drink at the same time as I did and his didn't get to the table before the food. Which is the perfect segway to the next disaster. We ordered in groups of 5 or 6 people - for drinks and food - to reduce the confusion. In our group of 5 orders, my food came out first and was cold (eggs benedict) the additional Hollandaise I requested was not served and wasn't delivered until I was finished eating. The food for the other groups began coming out sporadically and in no particular order, with people from other groups getting the same food that our group had ordered, but they were served first meaning I was the only one of our 5 that was eating. To top it all off, other parties were coming into the restaurant not associated with our group. They were seated and orders taken. Some of these people received their food ahead of the people in our group, though we had clearly ordered well ahead of their arrival. The last person served was my daughter - the guest of honor - because the waitress neglected to enter her order. So she got to eat with 16 other people basically watching her. One gentleman (not amongst our group) was waiting for a menu to order to go, standing holding his young son. He finally became so frustrated with the absolute lack of attention (he never received a menu), that he yelled at the bartender and waitress to get their s**t together and walked out of the restaurant. The server repeatedly came back asking for drink orders that would get made and sit at the corner of the bar undelivered. The entire time this was going on, the bartender never stepped foot from behind the bar to assist in any aspect of service. I could go on, but I think you get the picture. After being in this restaurant for nearly 3 hours it was time for the checks. We had the checks come out in the collective groups as we ordered. Upon reviewing my check, I noticed several errors including items not ordered by our group and sides that were never delivered, as well as drinks that we didn't even order. This experience rippled through the other folks in our groups checks also. My daughter collected the 3 checks and went group to group to establish what was and what wasn't ordered, correctly listed the items by group and returned the checks to the waitress. The waitress re-rung the checks and for a 2nd time, they came out all wrong. This process happened 3 times consuming another 35 minutes until finally a representative of each group with a list of drinks and food ordered stood beside the waitress as she once again re-rung the orders. At the end of this process, the waitress noted that there were items she had rung up on the original bill that remained uncollected. As I was the last person paying out of the 3 groups, she settled my groups check and then insisted that I pay for the items she was unable to collect for from the other people who had already completely settled their checks. I was appalled at the audacity of the waitress to expect me to pay for her inability to collect for items unrelated to our consumption. the absolute punch line to the whole episode was they automatically added 20% gratuity to each of our checks even though we were ordering in groups of 5 or 6. That was as a much a theft as the 3.5 hours of my life I will never get back having wasted it in this restaurant. The level of service and the quality of the food did not warrant a 10% tip, let alone 20. I wouldn't go back to this restaurant for a free meal, and would eat fast food before returning as a guest of another. I have worked in the foodservice industry since 1972. I am a certified chef by profession and have owned my own catering business as well as a BBQ restaurant. I say this so that my understanding of how a restaurant should function as opposed to our experience is written off as "just another uninformed customer". P.S. We originally were supposed to go to Jimmy's Diner (next door), but they couldn't accommodate such a large group. Jimmy recommended Ogliastro and he actually came in to check on how everything was. I spoke at length to him regarding the disaster (during the 1st re-ring of our checks). He was mortified and actually went back to his restaurant and grabbed a whole cake which he brought over to celebrate my daughter's birthday and to offer some comfort for the situation we had endured. Food was good - but do not recommend for a large party. It took almost an hour to get our drinks, 2 hours to get food (at this point 2 people didn't get their food at all & they had to reorder because their order was lost). Six drinks never came & we had to repeatedly ask for more water (2-3 times each time we needed water). The problem was they were woefully understaffed - only 1 bartender and 1 waitress for the entire restaurant on Saturday Brunch.
