Really huge portions. Comes in a cool bag. Pretty cheap for the price and huge flavor. Shrimp is crispy and the short ribs are delicious. The pork and cabbage are really good.

Plate lunches have never been so good! Normally, I would be eating my plate lunch from a plastic takeout container with a plastic fork from a food stand or truck. So, it's a welcome change to actually have a plate lunch on a real dish, using real silverware and sitting on a chair at a table instead of on a concrete wall! There are a few Oh My Grills around Oahu and this OMG in McCully is a short walk from Waikiki, but there is a parking lot if you're going to drive. The picture menu helps a lot in choosing from the many combinations, but the common theme is 1, 2 or even 3 proteins with scoops of white rice and of course, a scoop of mac salad or it wouldn't be a Hawaiian plate lunch. For this recent visit, I ordered the New York Steak & Garlic Shrimp Combo. The sirloin steak was more on the well done side, even though I ordered it medium, so I doused it in A1 steak sauce, but the garlic sauce from the shrimp was perfect with white rice. My wife ordered the Beef Lover's Mixed Plate with Hamburger Steak, Teriyaki Beef & Curry Beef Stew over Brown Rice and she couldn't finish that huge meal. Our friend went with the Wagyu Loco Moco, which looked great for the camera with bright sunny-side up eggs. I'm not sure how Wagyu the beef patties were, but she liked it. She didn't like the mac salad, so more for me! OMG also does catering, so if you want to feed a big bunch of people, they have a few combo party platters with everything on their menu to satisfy everybody. Pass the gau gee, please!

One more stop before heading to the airport. Ordered the cake noodles, chicken katsu, and BBQ chicken. The katsu was really good. The crisp was on point. Chicken was tender, and the sauce was just right. The BBQ chicken was good as always. The cake noodles was okay. I did not like the gravy, it was runny. The chicken was little bit hard. Decent but I probably wouldn't order it again. The Thai tea with boba was terrible, wasn't creamy and the boba was over cooked. I explained to the lady that the drink tasted horrible, but she looked confused. She offered to make it again but I declined and asked if she could just take it off my bill. The staff stared at us the whole time afterwards and made us feel uncomfortable.

I love, love, love chicken katsu, so naturally I was very excited to try Oh My Grill. It's one of those comfort foods I almost always look forward to ordering -- crispy, golden, and satisfying. Unfortunately, this visit didn't quite go as planned for me. One important thing to know: they fry everything in the same oil. As someone with a shrimp allergy, that makes it unsafe for me to eat anything fried here -- including chicken katsu or even something as simple as French fries. I completely understand that it's not the restaurant's responsibility to cater to every allergy, but it was still disappointing to realize I couldn't have the dish I came in excited for. So instead, I ordered the lau lau plate. I genuinely enjoy lau lau, even though I'm not the biggest fan of the leafy outer portion. The flavor of the meat is usually the highlight -- rich, savory, and tender from slow cooking. Unfortunately, the meat in this lau lau was noticeably dry. Traditionally, you'll find chunks of pork fat mixed in, which help keep the meat moist and flavorful. I know some people don't love the fat, but it's part of what makes lau lau so satisfying -- and in this case, there just wasn't enough of it to balance the dish. That said, the portion size was generous, and the sides were consistent with a typical local-style plate lunch. The rest of our table had a better experience. My friend ordered the chicken katsu to share with her two young kids, and they all seemed to really enjoy it -- and still had leftovers, which says a lot about the portion size. Another friend ordered the beef curry plate, and she finished every bite, which is usually a good sign that it hit the spot. One unexpected part of the experience was the temperature inside the restaurant. It was very cold -- all of us at the table were noticeably uncomfortable. We even asked if the temperature could be adjusted because we were freezing. It never quite warmed up, and I ended up ordering hot water just to stay comfortable. On the positive side, the service was genuinely good. Our server was attentive, we didn't have to wait long for anything, and the staff overall were friendly and welcoming throughout the visit. Overall, this was a mixed experience. The restaurant offers generous portions, friendly service, and food that others in my group clearly enjoyed. For me personally, though, the shared fryer oil limiting my options, the dryness of the lau lau, and the very cold dining environment made this a place I'm unlikely to return to. If you don't have food allergies and are looking for filling local-style plate lunches, this could still be a solid option. It just wasn't the right fit for me.

This place was so good we came back twice. A very short drive from the shore, this place is perfect to sit down for a quick breakfast or grab a plate lunch for a road trip. Parking is plentiful and it's right next to a 7/11 :) Service is great! Best kalua pig and loco moco I've ever had. Huge portions and great value. Highly recommend!

It's the first time eating their hamburger steak plate. What caught my attention on their menu..it reads "homemade patty".. i am always up for a homemade burger! It is so delicious I will likely try their cheeseburger next visit!

Single party Cheeseburger ($4.50). Good size, seasoned well! Nice crisp edges and moist meat. Doesn't come with veg.

OMG, time has flown, as it's 2026! How fitting to also have OMG (Oh my Grill, that is lol) as my first review of the new year! Let's get into it: I've been here twice. Had the cheeseburger ($4.50 -- lettuce, tomato, and onion are 50 cents extra, each). The homemade patty is good: soft inside with crispy edges and nice flavor. It reminds me of old drive-inn burgers where the patty is mixed with bread, not just straight meat. It's a large, filling burger on a sesame bun. Seems like they steam it, but it's not soggy. Also tried the beef stew bowl ($11). It's more local-style with a tomato base rather than a darker beefy one. Large cuts of vegetables and meat, though the rice-to-stew ratio felt a little off (too much rice imo). They have a lot of good deals on local-style plate lunches: $10.99 chicken katsu, $8.99 hamburger meal (plain hamburger with fries and a drink--perfect for fussy eaters). Both times I went they were busy, and the people were helpful. It looks like you can eat in -- there are some tables and a host-style station when you walk in. It's clean and bright. They also have online ordering through their own platform, and the prices are the same. They're open really late too (midnight, I think). Overall, a good spot if you want a hefty local meal that satisfies both kids and adults at a good price.

Quick and short review.....their Mochiko chicken is on POINT. My wife and I thinks it's pretty be of the best we had in a long time. Crunchy, moist, and ohhhhhh so flavorful. Thank you OMG.

We will most definitely be back here! We got the crab Rangoon, spam saimin, chicken katsu with a side of curry (came with mac salad and rice) and a strawberry banana smoothie. Truthfully? Everything was fantastic. I seriously have no notes. Service was quick and they were attentive to us. And the decor was so cute! Their little mascot made an appearance on everything. I had fun pointing them all out to hubs lol.

Parking is plentiful and easy to find. Tables are good for medium sized groups though you tables may need to be combined. Oh my pac (5/5): so delicious. The chicken and shrimp were both so crispy. The beef was so tender and flavorful. Tap to pay is accepted. Overall, Oh My Grill is a great spot. Food is delicious and service isn't bad. It seemed like there was just one staff working the front.

Affordable price for a quality plate lunch. The chicken katsu special often a go-to for last minute lunch or dinner. It's $10.99 and usually last two meals. We often get it with brown rice which is $1 extra. We also tried the loco moco and it came with two large hamburger patties with a good thickness and cooked medium rare just right. A little salty but tasty.

I remember eating here years ago but didn't see that I reviewed them. Maybe this was one of my many drafts that I ended up deleting? Either way, I recently came back to order take out for a quick meal. I couldn't recall if they were good or not so why not give them another try and review them, right? Oh My Grill is located on the ground floor near 7-11 in McCully Shopping Center. They offer dine in and take out. It's a clean and well lit restaurant. If you order take out, there is a POS system right by the door and they have their take out orders there. I went to the POS system and staff by the menu board inside since no one was working at the take out area and all the workers were there talking to each other. They pointed to that area implying I should go there to pay and get my order. It was somewhat helpful but not the best customer service experience. They have utensils and napkins also by the door for take out. I ordered their Chicken Fried Noodle and BBQ Mixed Plate (all rice). Portions are generous and the food was still hot when I got back to eat a quick lunch. The fried noodles were better than expected but the BBQ Mixed Plate was ok. I personally found the meat to be salty and I wasn't a fan of their dry rice. The Chicken Fried Noodle is something I can see myself ordering again. Glad I came back so I could finally review them.

Do they make wonton soup? I am craving it so bad I thought for sure it would be on their menu

Go to Golden Duck for that!

I would like to have catchup and mustard on my hamburger rather than a mystery sauce with mayonnaise can you just have catchup and mustard on a hamburger?

Yes, they should be able to do that for you just have to ask when you order. They are awesome so I would think it should be no problem.

For about $16 you get a heavily portioned plate with two scoops of rice, mixed green salad, asparagus, and a nicely cooked ahi steak. The garlic are actual cloves that have been cooked long enough to soften them and take away that bite without removing the garlicky goodness. The bomb sauce adds a bit of creaminess to round out the plate. They're a bit of a hole in the wall, takeout ideally due to the limited parking in front and seating. Menu is vast and they are open late/early. You can even get lobster here! For the prices, you'd easily pay $30 for the seafood options and portions at fancier establishments. So I consider upscale Hawaii a steal, just don't expect ambiance...it's all about the food.

The food. I ordered the furikake ahi. It comes with mixed greens and asparagus. There also is some "bomb sauce". It's nice and creamy with a slight hint of heat. The furikake ahi was nicely prepared. It wasn't overcooked. It was done almost perfect. I like to see some rawness in the middle but it was close. It was really good and I was quite surprised. The asparagus too was really good. It wasn't overcooked where it's mushy or undercooked where it's hard. Prepared perfectly. I'm not a veggie person but the dressing was really good. Not exactly sure what type of dressing it was but it came with it. So no Thousand Island, Ranch, French, Italian or your Oil and Vinegar. It was really good. I just wish they gave a little more. Overall it was a really good and satisfying meal. It compares well with a restaurant like Nicos. Just not the same atmosphere and you're probably going to wanna take it home to eat. Lots of parking in the very early morning as every place else is closed. They are open 24 hours. A rarity after covid came and went. So if you're looking for someplace open late night or early morning serving a good furikake ahi this is your place. Give them a try. It's worth the price at under $20. There are many other offerings to choose from and will probably try something else from here. They also do offer a mixed plate where you can have two choices off their regular menu board. Sorry I didn't take pictures of the menu. Maybe next time I'm here. The person that took my order was really nice. She was an elderly Filipina. She was very nice and pleasant especially at working this very early morning. I think her name was ate Letti or maybe auntie Letti. Very good service.

I didn't expect much from this small corner diner, but everything turned out real solid! The exterior is especially entrancing, with its bright, rainbow neon sign that glows out the darkness of the night! The hooded interior was clean and followed well with the rainbow theme, especially with its rainbow pastel, title wallpaper. I would also like to compliment the workers, who were very nice and approachable! We ordered the loco moco plate, mixed plate, and saimin. Both plates were very filling and came in huge portions! The plates are for sure a top choice if you want a nice, hearty dinner! I especially enjoyed my loco moco! The saimin was less filling and came in an instant noodle cup. Still yet, it wasn't half bad--and it actually seems like a fairly good piece if you are on a diet or budget; it wasn't as expensive as the other dishes and only came out as 220 calories! And we just can't go here anymore unless changes are made! We used to prefer them over Zippy's, but now they are less than 7-Eleven quality, while charging higher-end prices for the neighborhood. We have given them many chances, hoping it was just a fluke, but we have repeatedly been disappointed. Their chicken has become chewy and fatty, their rice is mediocre, and condiments such as mayonnaise are stripped down to the bare minimum quantity. Chile is poured so lightly that it is practically a minuscule amount. And their prices have continued to rise. I don't know if greedy people took over the restaurant who just don't care anymore, or what is going on. I remember when I used to take people here, and they would be impressed with the quality and quantity--plates just heaping with good cuts of meat, noodles, and rice. Those days are no more. As they say in Japan, the price performance is poor. Furthermore, their staff is rude. I can only imagine it was an owner working this day because it was a face I haven't seen that often. An older gentleman who appeared to be of Okinawan descent, working the cashier register, accosted us because I was privately discussing with my family about splitting different items with them. We were all ordering something, so he wasn't losing any money, but he told us about how prices are double in Waikīkī. First of all, it is rude to interrupt your customers that way. Secondly, we don't go to Waikīkī or care about Waikīkī. What happened to serving the locals? Third, Waikīkī has an assortment of restaurants, prices, and qualities, and they shouldn't be how you base your services. Lastly, I guarantee I could find a better deal in Waikīkī if I wanted to. Next time you're in the area, just go get a $6 bento or a $5 burrito from 7-Eleven next door. I assure you, the price performance and experience will be better. If Rainbow Drive-In is in the business of comparing themselves to other things, let's compare them to 7-Eleven and at least try to be better than them, right? I can get mochiko chicken from 7-Eleven for $6.99 that is similar in portion size and better quality. Meanwhile, they are serving their fatty, dry chicken for $16.75. Highway robbery! And they are not fancy, with their dirty picnic tables and plastic cutlery. They are just a step above a food truck, if that. Save yourself from the hype. They have gone downhill like a landslide. Go elsewhere.

Liliha Bakery - International Market Place Waikiki - Onion Roll ($2.89) - very rich. Overall savory, but the dough is a bit sweet.

Brewed coffee was great not sour not bold very smooth. They give you complimentary toasted Hawaiian bread and home made jam which is lovely. We also picked some Chou buns and cranberry scones to go from the front which were so yummy. There are many seatings in and out and the service is friendly and fast.

The food was pretty good overall, and the sweet complimentary bread was delicious! The Hawaiian plate was definitely the best, and the hamburger was really good too. The pancakes were alright but a little dry. The loco moco was okay, but a bit too salty for my taste. I also felt like it could have had more protein and less rice. We were visiting Hawaii from California and were excited to try this place for the first time. Unfortunately, our server wasn't very friendly and seemed a little annoyed when I mentioned that it was our first time visiting and that we were from California. It would have been nice to have a warmer, more welcoming experience. Overall, the food had some definite highlights, especially the Hawaiian BLT plate and hamburger, but the service could have been better.

Highway Inn is highly recommended for their classic Hawaiian dishes. We made our way over at…read moreopening last Thursday for an early lunch. Our server was very helpful and even brought out a pamphlet explaining each dish. After reading it over, the three of us decided to each try one of the signature Hawaiian combo plates. LAU LAU COMBO (PORK) - 22.99 + poi + lomi salmon The set came out in cafeteria-style trays, almost like a grade school lunch. Our server recommended eating the main entree and lomi salmon with poi, a fermented taro paste. Judging by how it looked, I thoroughly expected the poi to be sweet, but it was actually much more sour, almost like yogurt. I didn't enjoy it too much on its own, but it worked incredibly well with the pork lau lau. The pork was mostly tender and juicy, with a fragrant, leafy steamed flavor that reminded me of the Chinese zong zi my mom makes. The leaner parts of the pork were a bit dry, but the steamed taro leaves helped. The lomi salmon (salted salmon mixed with onions and tomatoes) was refreshing, although the pungent raw onions were a bit much for me. The 'uala (steamed sweet potatoes) had a natural, earthy sweetness that we all enjoyed. Lastly, the haupia (coconut pudding) was incredibly tasty, with a strong coconut flavor that made me sad when I took my last bite. One of my friends got the chicken lau lau, which we actually enjoyed even more. The chicken was delicious, and there was so much of it. Overall, we enjoyed getting to try some authentic Hawaiian dishes at Highway Inn, especially our server and the pamphlet gave us a better understanding of what we were eating.

When the tattoo artist tells you where to eat Hawaiian food... you listen!…read more While we were in Hawaii, we told my husband's tattoo artist that we really wanted to try some Hawaiian food. Not the touristy version. We wanted to actually experience some of the local food, and she recommended Highway Inn Restaurant & Catering. So of course, we had to give it a try! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt very laid-back and comfortable. Nothing overly fancy or trying too hard. It had that relaxed, home-style feeling where you could just sit down, eat, and enjoy yourself. Now let's talk about the food! I had the BBQ chicken with rice and salad, and that chicken was so tender! The barbecue sauce was absolutely delicious, and surprisingly, that salad was GOOD too. I loved the dressing they served with it. The hubby went more traditional and ordered the Lau Lau with pork, which gave us exactly what we came for, a chance to experience Hawaiian food while we were here. But y'all... I have to mention something completely random. THE COKE! I don't know what was going on with that Coke, but it tasted like Coke used to taste back in the day! I kept saying, "Now THIS tastes like a Coke!" Sometimes it really is the little things. The service was great. Our server was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience easy and enjoyable. No complaints at all. As far as value, absolutely worth what we paid. Good food, good portions, friendly service, and a relaxed atmosphere. 4.5/5 Would we go back? Definitely. Especially if we wanted another casual spot for Hawaiian comfort food. And shout-out to the tattoo artist because she definitely didn't steer us wrong on this one!
