This is by far my absolute favorite cafe/diner in Atlanta. I love that the service is fast and the waitresses are sweet and they dress like little nurses. It feels like home. And the menu is extensive. You can ask for a little or a lot. When I don't have time I go the the carry out section which is kept clean and well stocked. The inside is actually pretty large and they seat large parties too. I wish this was a chain restaurant but it is truly a gem once you go there you will never stop. read more

This used to be my spot when I wanted good ole country fried steak. I used to think the blue plate special at $16 was high. However, I like CFS, so I would let them get a pass. Now, this same plate runs about $19. Now that in itself is not a bad thing as I realize food cost has rose. But also the quality of this dish has gone down. Now, while it appears to be a huge piece of CFS,it's actually a very thin piece of meat with a lot of batter,IMO. The sides were great. The collards still taste as good as ever, and so did the black-eyed peas. I even ordered some of their pimento cheese and cracks,which, by the way, is fantastic. The service hasn't changed. The wait staff is still great and attentive. I guess I was just sorely disappointed at what one of my favorite meals has become. I will definitely come back ,but sadly, I think I will move on from getting CFS. Still a great place and still highly recommended, giving them a try. I have passed this restaurant a million times and never had as desire to check it out. However, my beau wanted to dine on some home cooked food and this girl was not in the mood to be cooking! After a quick Google search I found this place! We parked at the back of this restaurant which is the to go area that includes a bar that is priced by the pound. We had to walk through the restaurant to be seated. We were quickly seated at a window table for two. Our server came over promptly. She lacked a personality but she got her job done. I ordered a veggie plate, and the boo ordered a pork chop plate. The food took a while to come out. I don't understand why restaurants pretend to cook food to order. Let's be real, the sides and bread are not made to order. It is possible that the pork chop was made to order but still no reason for the extended wait time. The food actually tastes pretty good. I do have to make this statement: this is not your grandmas kind of cooking. The food is somewhat bland, but I like that. I don't like southern cooking loaded with salt. If you need a quick fix for a home cooked meal I would recommend this place. You can take it home and add a little seasoning and it will be perfect! Oh yeah, we actually left without dessert but decided in the car to go back and order a slice of the chocolate cake. Upon initial review we thought it would not be good. The ice cream made this dish worth ordering. OK cafe is a quirky homey restaurant, very clean, and easy to navigate. We stopped in after the lunch rush on a Friday afternoon and found the staff to be absolutely exceptional, from the host, to waitresses and servers throughout the restaurant. This restaurant has a very hometown feel to it. The servers are extremely friendly! I got the coffee which was good. For breakfast I got the ham and cheese omelet with home fries, and a biscuit. The portions are VERY large so keep that in mind. My friend got the biscuits and gravy which is also something I wish I would have gotten. It comes with 2 biscuits and is smothered with gravy sausage. This place has a lot of fun and abstract art in it which makes it fun. The pricing is also really cheap for the portions that you receive. We would come back to this restaurant. read more

Oh my Lord. If I lived closed to this place, it would be a real problem! Holy cow, so good and enough food for 4 meals! I ordered the chicken fried steak and it was so crunchy and good. My cousin said you have to get extra white gravy so I did. My husband got the burger which he loved. I got carrot cake to go (sorry no pic) but it was to die for! I thought it was just another chain, so my expectations were not high. Depending on the time of day expect a little wait. The wait staff is amazing. Laura is on top of things, very kind and considerate. The food is really good and fresh. No GMO, no hormones no nothing. Juices are freshly squeezed and coffee is fresh brewed. People here are friends with the staff and vise versa. That's so refreshing. I ordered the BLT on sourdough. OMG the fries heavenly. Crisp on outside and hot and soft on inside. Love their curbside service. I ordered from the Publix parking lot behind the restaurant. By the time I pulled into a parking spot it was less than 10 minutes before I was back on the road. It was Sunday so pot roast seemed the perfect choice. Tasted like home made. I choice OK Cafe because I saw strawberry shortcake on the menu so that was an easy choice for dessert. The strawberries in syrup was good but the cake was not so good. Maybe it wasn't fresh but I was disappointed. I will say the vanilla ice cream that came with it was delicious. Great location since it's right off I75 it's fairly easy to get to. read more

Eaten here almost weekly for the past two years. Used to be one of my favorite restaurants...not anymore. Food: B+ before; C now Watch out for the pork chop...Some times the best ever...Other times flatter and drier than a cowboy's boot heel. Service: B before; C- now Servers were once kind and accommodating...lately they act as if they hate their jobs and their customers. Ambiance: N/A It's a diner! Hostesses: D before: F- now Always sour...lately just plain rude. Management: D+ before; F now Never good, but lately they do not care if you live or die; they certainly do not seem to want your business. The problem here is management: When managers do not give a damn, everything goes downhill. Save yourself: Houston's is just a block up the street. Update: I arrived for lunch on Wed, Feb 22, just after noon. Sign read, wait time of "0 Minutes." I added my name to the waiting list and told a host I was going to step to the restroom. When I returned, a hostess called my name. When she confirmed it was a party of one person, she said "You can just sit at the counter." I told her I would like a table. Then, she sat everyone on the waiting list ahead of me and then later tried to give me the table closest to the host stand that has two cash registers and where a line backs up, even though there was a two-top available, telling me that that one table in the restaurant was closed. While I have enjoyed OK Cafe a few times previously, this time was a total fail. I ordered "crispy fried chicken" from the menu (after asking the waitress if it was white meat or dark). She said it was a half chicken. What was served was a fried chicken cutlet. When I asked the server who delivered the food about it, she said the cutlet is their fried chicken and they don't serve traditional fried chicken pieces. When asked if I would like something else, I ordered the rotisserie chicken. When delivered I could only eat the dark meat, and the breast was so dry I couldn't eat it. As we were checking out, the cashier asked if everything was OK. When I explained the disappointment in my dinner, she sheepishly said "sorry...your total is $$". No offer to talk to a manager, no offer for anything, simply "you owe us $$". Won't be going back anytime soon. read more

Update 10/5/19: the fried cheese grits have been back for months (yay) and the service has been excellent. Try the pot likker and ask for cornbread. It's great on chilly nights. Update: the ever delicious fried jalapeño cheese grits have been replaced with the mediocre pimento cheese and macaroni fried bites. Our waitress was sharp and shrill, not the usual friendly servers OK Cafe is known for. She messed up our order twice and wa Ok Cafe has really good diner food. They have so many items on the menu that it's hard to chose. The chicken pot pie is excellent as is the BLT. Their strawberry shortcake is a delightful treat after the meal. For appetizers the basket of fries and onion rings are as greasy as they come, but they are tradition. read more

Im impressed. This is my first 5 star review. I really enjoyed the meal and it's worth the hype. The venue: it's a American/southern diner. Ready, casual dining experience. In previous reviews, there are mentions of a confederate flag, I didn't see it, I saw a historic georgia flag. The service: seated promptly and greeted upon entry. The food: stick to your ribs, take a Togo plate, and have a afternoon nap. At first I thought it was going to be like a old school piccadilly or K & w cafeteria but it's so so so much better. This is where southern comfort food went to glow up. This no frills resturant has quality service, huge mixture of guest, and incandescent guarantee someone might call you darlin or sugga. But the Chicken pot pie was vile - a salt lick made of canned chicken, canned "gravy" with huge hunks of potatoes. It was NOT. GOOD. The squash souffle tasted like big mounds of warm mayonnaise and crushed crackers with half cooked onions. The best thing I ate was the corn muffin. I think I just ordered the wrong thing - this place is packed out all the food couldn't be this bad. We will try again and get sandwhiches or breakfast to give this place another shot. But I do not recommend the diner blue plate specials based on my experience today. read more

The food is good but not stellar. It's a diner. I find that their prices to have risen more than the level of inflation. So now the takeout plate is costing more than $20. The price is by weight and I don't even really pile it on..... Location is convenient, parking is easy. I will likely return despite the high prices.
