This has been my go to chicken bowl destination since my high school years in the early 90s. Great food as well as the staff. Teriyaki Chicken Bowls are so good and the Teriyaki Beef Bowls as well. Honestly everything on their menu is yummy food. The only thing that I am not happy about is that I have moved to Northern California and my family does not have an Okazya up here. Just another reason to visit our family and friends in Orange County more often just so that we can get our Okazya fix. Thank you for great food and amazing memories! read more

I work about 2 minutes away in walking distance so I always call to check out their daily specials. Their portions are pretty okay and their beef tempura is delish. I love how they have spicy chicken teriyaki and EXTRA spicy, always go with the one with the most heat. I love spicy. The daily specials cost $6.79 and don't come with a drink. Good price but a nice portioned meal. Their udon on a cold day is great a little TOO soy saucy side though. Overall, give this place a try. It won't let you down but won't make you go crazy about it. Everyone at my work was ranting and raving about this place so I thought I'd give it a try. Well, apparently we don't have the same idea of taste and quality. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't BAD, it just wasn't AMAZING like so many other people were leading me to believe (Yelpers included). The price is really great for the amount of food you get. I even used a Yelp deal ($7 for $10) so I ordered the 3-item combo (chicken teriyaki, beef teriyaki, & tempura). The tempura was good but the batter on the shrimp was a little on the crazy side in terms of size. Image a piece of tempura and 1/4 of it is the size of the shrimp, the rest is batter. It was a bit underwhelming (on the shrimp side) to say the least. But once I broke off the extra batter, the flavor was good. It came with two pieces of shrimp and some veggies. The chicken & beef teriyaki didn't wow me at all. The meat wasn't super tender as everyone was saying! I was so sad! I personally love Golden Bowl so much more because of that extra char and flavor that I can always count on. Like I said, it wasn't bad, it just didn't blow me away. I was definitely not a fan of the salad and chow mein though. Granted, I got this to-go so by the time I got to my office, the salad was all soggy. But flavor-wise for both items, it was just whatever. The sauce didn't do anything for me either. I'm not a huge fan of the sweeter sauces. 3 stars - Generic sweet teriyaki & great prices. I wouldn't mind coming here again if coworkers wanted to but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here on my own. read more

I came in today (Tuesday) for their lunch special and was floored with the price and quality. For about $8 I got: -A medium soda (one free refill) -Beef tempura (delicious, crispy, juicy, dabbed in sweet teriyaki) -A small salad (lettuce, red onions, caesar dressing) -Small serving of yakisoba/chow mein (delicious) -Chicken teriyaki on a bed of rice (juicy chicken, amazing teriyaki sauce) -One eggroll (fresh out of the fryer) Needless to say, I was stuffed. Pretty Good Food at a Cheap Price. For some reason, I was really craving sushi today so I Yelped this place right before my lunch and saw that it got pretty good reviews. Unfortunately for me, this place only has California Rolls and I'm not particularly interested in eating California Rolls. Anyway...this place is a Japanese grill with no real sushi items so I ended up just eating there because it was lunch hour and I had to get back. The menu consisted of different combination type plates and the option of ordering individual items. I like when restaurants let you pick custom combination plates and lucky for me, they had just that. I ended up picking the 3 item combo in which I picked the teriyaki chicken, 2 egg rolls and steamed vegetables. All the plates come with rice, chow mein, and a salad. First, I have to say...getting all that food for just under $10 is a pretty good bargain. Second, their food was delicious. I wish they gave you a little more chicken than they did but overall, pretty good. Overall, the place was a nice quality go to place for lunch. I got teriyaki chicken & rice, steamed vegetables, some spring rolls and a salad for less then ten dollars. Not bad, not bad at all. If you are in the area, definitely check it out. read more

Been on a rampant teriyaki chicken kick lately. (Seriously, had it on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, no joke.) So my fiancé and I have been trying out a couple new spots thanks to fellow yelpers. I like Okazya. I don't know that I love it. By far, the tenderest, juiciest chicken of the places we've just frequented (Golden Bowl, Ola, and here, Okazya). Best chicken. Wasn't super impressed w/ the teriyaki sauce, somehow, tastes more "Japanese" if that makes sense, rather than the "Hawaiian" style that I'm apparently a bigger fan of. Chow mein wasn't loved by the man, though, I didn't really mind it. The curry was solid, but nothing out of the ordinary. There was quite a long wait despite not a whole lot of people in front of us. The older woman who took our order and very sweetly brought our food to the table (probably 'cause I was wearing my bum knee splint), was also super thoughtful and kind and without our having to ask, thought to include a cup of water for me (since the man got a soda). We're both intrigued enough to go back, though I'll be trying the udon/ noodle soup next time. read more

Best and THE MOST FLAVORFUL terriyaki sauce I've ever had! Their terriyaki sauce is godly compared to everything else. Their sauce is made in house, giving it that unique touch to a traditional asian sauce. I would recommend getting their #5 (terriyaki plate) and ask them to split the meat, so you get chicken and beef. The chicken here is cooked tenderly and the beef is shredded and flavorful. Instead of like most places where the food is overcooked or slightly burnt, the sauce here serves its purpose of complements the food it is on, not to cover up a horrible original taste. Although their sauce is perfect, you can add a little hot kick to it if you add their chili powder and a bit of their chili sauce. It becomes I don't understand the comparison of this place to 'food court' food. The food here is very simple, but it doesn't mean it is bad and bland. But do keep in mind what you order, as you would at any other restaurant. This place is a terriyaki specialty, therefore it would probably be wise for you to choose something related to what they are known for. read more

I love this place. The food is really good and pretty healthy. They make your meal, made to order so it has not been sitting there forever. The food does take some time but what you get is a delicious meal. I've tried various items on the menu and they are all pretty good. The workers there are always nice. This place is in kind of a dumpy part of Fullerton; the shopping center itself isn't very nice, everything looks pretty rundown and old too. My girlfriend and I tried this place after we realized the wait at What's Up Men would be longer than we wanted to wait for Japanese curry. When we walked in we were greeted, which was pleasant. There were 3 or 4 other people in the restaurant but half of them had their food already so the wait should have been pretty small. After we placed our order (two orders of Japanese curry) and ~$16 dollars later we took one of the many empty tables. We waited about 20 minutes for the curry all together and we weren't given our drinks until the food was brought out. Pros: Free soda if you have a student ID They have the best tasting fortune cookies I have ever eaten Cons: *The ambiance and music of the place is absolutely horrific (too dark to see well, tables were dirty, not very good music either they basically just had the radio on). *They charge for refills after your 2nd refill. This didn't affect us but I can see how it could. *Food took a bit long to come out and we couldn't even enjoy some soda till 20 minutes in. *The curry is alright, but it's store bought. It basically tasted like the curry I could make at home (and have done). *The curry has way too much onion in it. It's like 75% onion and the rest is a combination of potato, apple, veggies, etc. *It's a $0.25 charge for two fortune cookies. It's not the cost that bothers me, it's the fact that they make you pay for something everywhere else gives away. I understand you have to make ends meet but come on, 25 cents, really? All in all, I would not recommend coming here unless you can't go anywhere else and really want some Japanese curry. You could literally just stop by your apt. or home and make it cheaper and in less time though (it will probably taste the same or better, too). read more

So I don't know who in the right mind would rate such a place FIVE STARS, yet there are lots of five star ratings? hmmmm..... Food is still great. Big Boy combo #5 for me. They now offer a family deal. I believe it was $25 for a tray of chicken or beef and rice, gyoza and 4 drinks. Very comparable to one of my all time favorites Orange House Takeout in Whittier BEFORE the owner retired and sold the restaurant to someone who completely got rid of the original recipes. That aside, the food here is really great.. with many different dishes and sides to offer. There are plenty of staples, and other things you can order if you feel like you're in the mood for something Japanese, but not teriyaki. This can be considered a fast food spot, that you would normally find in a food court mall. What's appealing is the amount of food you can get for the price. Small meals are around $5, and big guy combos are $6.50-$7.00. The service is friendly, and from reading the other reviews it does seem that this place has a pretty solid following of people who work in the area that eat here all the time. You have to get the spicy chicken bowl, or you can get a combination of spicy chicken/spicy beef bowl (but you can't choose the size if you get the combination). It's sooo good, and it's just the perfect amount of spiciness! And they give you extra sauce, just in case. It's a small place run by a family. They are so friendly! I've been coming here for over 10 years & have never had a bad meal. They are very consistant, the food is flavorful & everthing is always fresh. I usually order the lunch special which cost about 6.95 & is always good. I also like the fact that the cashier just needs to look at me & already knows what I want, yells my order at the cook & before you know & am enjoying a pretty good lunch. I went here for a quick lunch before I headed off to work and regretted it sorely afterwards. Prices weren't bad and food came out relatively quickly. I grabbed the large Beef Bowl from here and I enjoyed it! Will definitely come back to try out something else from their menu. The Beef Bowl was covered in sauce that complimented the type of beef they used. A small Japanese takeout place. Ordered the CA rolls and Inari, and my friend ordered the chicken and eggroll lunch special. The Inari was pretty good(I mean its only tofu skins and rice but still). I've had some where they were stingy with the rice, but not here. Food is what you expect from a "teriyaki bowl" type place- not bad but not the best thing in the world, so don't expect it to be. The wait was looong! Probably waited around 15 minutes to order, and another 40 minutes for my food. I went here for the first time this past weekend on a Saturday when I was at a conference nearby. Because of the conference there were a lot of people in line. Don't know if they're used to a big crowd, but they only had 3 workers around 1pm so I'm thinking maybe they're not used to it, and that's probably why it took so long. As I sat waiting for my food, everyone else in the world picked up their order. If I had been hungrier, I would have ordered the Chicken Cutlet Curry or the Beef Teriyaki. They looked pretty darn good. I would say for this type of food, that the prices are more expensive than what I would expect. They have student discounts with ID. Been going here for almost 10 years and I've always encountered a great atmosphere. Gets busy around lunch time on weekdays and parking is also difficult because it shares with two other restaurants and two mini marts. You can even call in your order and it'll be ready w/in 5-10mins (with the exception of larger orders and weekday lunch rush). Closed Sundays. The one thing it's famous for is the teriyaki. Sauce isn't bland, but sweet, which is to my liking. Other great items are the teriyaki salmon and curry plates. They also have a "low carb" menu, which have more mix veggies instead of rice. This is the best Chicken Teri Place in the area. It's really good. The combos have a decent portion since their geem bbap (sushi) is really FAT like those loud fat black girls. The price is inexpensive. The food is very homie. The lady been running this shop since the 80's or so. I've been coming here for bout 10 years since it's pretty close to the cribs n the shop. The teri sauce is a bit pungent for me but im not a sauce guy, my brother normally jacks more of my sauce on the side than i use so the sauce must be good. i like the chili paste and grinded chili pepper combo on my rice. It's a classic neighborhood ma n pa eatery with a board for bidness cards and publications as u wait 3 minutes for the food. Prolly gona go there tomorow. i wish they would open earlier. read more

I ordered the lunch special but got very little chicken, chow mein, salad, 2 small dumplings, and some fried beef thingy. it was tasty but couldnt finish it because there was too much sauce, which was watery and bland. the sodas are reasonably priced but they only allow 1 free refill. if you look into the kitchen, you might see some things that you wouldnt like to see in a kitchen. they also leave the front door open and had flies flying around the dining area which was disturbing. i may be back but for now, waba is the clear favorite for teriyaki in fullerton read more

I paid $6.00 for essentially a bowl of rice. It was supposed to be a chicken, veggie, brown rice bowl, but I opened up my order to find an extremely scant amount of chicken and veggies. Although the chicken was of good quality, the value for your money is much much superior at Flame Broiler. And Flame Broiler's "Magic" teriyaki sauce is much better too. I give it two stars: one for the taste being decent, and the second for offering brown rice. Will not be returning here again. read more

The person at the check out is nice and the food is filling. Portions for plates are good for two people eating proper portions. They have brown rice too. The food is not very flavourful, not bad, but not good enough to come back if I could pick somewhere else. If you are trying to look for low sodium food go here. There are two eateries that Fullerton cannot do without. One of those two eateries starts with a big G and serves the BEST breakfast burritos and double cheeseburgers in Fullerton. The other one is Okazya Kitchen. The owner is a true Fullerton native. We have visited the big G for burgers and fries after swim meets and waterpolo games together....circa 98-99! Sunny Hills! Go Lancers! His staff makes you feel like you're home and just stopping by the kitchen to investigate what is making the house smell so good! I haven't been here in a long time but the teriyaki sauce is still the same! I'm not sure how much crack Mr. K puts in there but it's it's it's juuuussssst the riiiiight amount of crack to put inside of a teriyaki sauce. The rice is truly a short grain variety and it soaks up the sauce just as the Kami require. I got the special Chashu bowl for lunch this time and I ate the hockey out of it. It begged me to stop but I didn't. I was an animal! I'm sorry mom! I ate it until it died and I want more. Okazya Kitchen closes at 8pm tonight and I'm thinking Curry rice with a nice pork Katsu. This place is overrated. I've been here couple times. first time, I ordered small chicken teriyaki bowl. OMG, It was too saucy, and I had like 5 strips of teriyaki with full of white rice. I felt like I just ate rice with teriyaki sauce on top. Second time, I read yelper's review and I wanted try daily combo. So I got monday special. It was japanese fried chicken with chicken teriyaki with no beverage. The fried chicken was garlicky but pretty good. But Chicken Teriyaki.. Again.. Too much SAUCE!!!! It was too sweet. It tasted like eel sauce. I couldn't eat teriyaki after 2bites cuz it was too sweet. Am I going to visit this restaurant again? I dont think so. but if I do, I will order teriyaki with sauce ONSIDE!! read more
