The food was good. The chile relleno tacos were PHENOMENAL. The ambiance was cool too, we sat outside to watch. But this review is to put a spotlight on the service. We sat outside at the outside bar/sister restaurant and it was ONE server for 40-50 people. She was bartending, serving, and bussing and she was overwhelmed and still killed it! I wish I could have gotten her name to give her a shoutout but she was so damn sweet and was a damn hustler. Real talk, she needs to be recognized for the bang up job she did. Um... did I not order the right thing? Ok, so I ordered 2 shrimp tacos, with rice instead of slaw & a horchata. The shrimp in the shrimp tacos was overcooked and I couldn't even finish one taco because it was not good. The rice request added an uncharged of $2.. very nominal, yet the portion was super small, about 2 tablespoons of rice. The rice was really good which was disappointing because they served me an extremely small portion. As for the horchata lol - this is a me just being surprised that a Mexican restaurant doesn't serve horchata. This is very funny to me. The ambience was for sure on point. It was right next to the water and boats sitting in the harbor. I would probably give this place another chance because of how great the ambience is. My girlfriend and I stopped in for lunch for something light. We shared a ceviche which came with two chips, so thank your lucky stars you get a basket of chips for the table. The salsa served with the chips is definitely from a jar and if it's not you have to do better please. Our ceviche was OK, it embodied a cóctel de camarón a little more in my opinion. It's served with a red sauce, shrimp and diced vegetables which is a very simple and easy to make ceviche so I was not impressed. Depending on the state in Mexico you get a different version of ceviche so this was underwhelming I wanted a little more character from this plate. They also don't have agua fresca but they will charge you for a virgin cocktail since the fresh watermelon juice is reserved for alcoholics. The views are incredible in here but it's like walking into a basement. When I think of my culture I don't get dark, moody, and goth....I feel joy because our art is incredibly vibrant. It was not busy at all and we were seated right away. We chose to be seated on the patio which has a gorgeous view of the marina. It's also covered, but open which is nice. I ordered a bowl of the Chicken Tortilla Soup. Others ordered either the two or three taco plate, and the poke. We also ordered Abuela's Rice and Beans to share. We were served complimentary chips and salsa. I did not try them so I cannot comment on whether they were good or not. The Chicken Tortilla Soup was solid. It was flavorful and had a good amount of chicken in it. The tortilla chips were mixed into the soup, so by the time it was served, they were all soggy. It also came with a taquito, but I did not eat it so I cannot comment on how it was. My partner got the three taco plate with a Chile Relleno taco, a Pork Belly taco, and Fish taco. He said all the tacos were solid. They were also filled pretty well. Our friend who ordered the poke enjoyed his food while our other friend ordered the two taco plate with a Grilled Fish taco and a Carne Asada taco. She enjoyed the Grilled Fish taco but mentioned that the Carne Asada was tough and was disappointed with it. Our order of Abuela's Rice and Beans never came, but luckily we were not charged for it. Overall, giving Ola Mexican Kitchen a 3.5/5. Food seems to be a mixed bag, though I did enjoy the Chicken Tortilla Soup. It is on the pricier side as well, and we were surprised that some of the plates do not come with any sides. Service was good, but slow at times for it not being too busy. Best chips around! Delicious guac, and fresh ingredients in all dishes (tortilla soup, tacos, fajitas, burritos, we've tried them all....) Lovely interior with waterfront outdoor dining. Sunset here is incredible too. The pricing makes sense to me. I think the flavors are all there. Anyone complaining probably couldn't prepare the same dish half as good. Came around 1145am for an early lunch to celebrate our 3rd year anniversary of our company's company. We parked on the roof area parking near the whole foods area and we walked over. It was 4 of us and we shared the chips, salsa, flautas, and ceviche. The chips have a seasoning that's really good...it adds a pop of flavor to regular chips and salsa I've had before. The crispy flautas were really good! They reminded me of baby thick burrito lol. It had shredded beef inside and a couple of sauces and some cheese top that came together nicely. The ceviche tasted fresh! It had a little more lime than I would have preferred but still good. For my entree I ordered the chicken tortilla soup and it came with a chicken taquito. I liked the taquito but I really didn't like the tortilla soup . I guess I was expecting more of a broth and it was more creamy, more like a pea or lentil stew which I couldn't vibe with I'm sorry! If you like real Mexican food, look elsewhere. This is Mexican adjacent. $17 for 2 decently sized tacos. I got a Baja fish taco and an al pastor taco (taco of the month). The fish taco was nothing special. About on par with the crispy fish tacos from Rubio's but less crispy. The al pastor was better, but you know this isn't the real stuff. The meat, which came out in cubes rather than strips like you'd see in real al pastor, was a bit dry and had some smokey flavor. The avocado tomatillo sauce was a good touch. I found the tortillas to be tough to chew: seemingly made in house but thick, cold, and old-feeling. That's probably also why I found the chips tough to eat. I was left full but not incredibly satisfied. 2.5/5 stars The service was friendly and not terribly slow. It wasn't busy inside, though, and I felt that service got to us a little slow at the start. 4/5 stars The restaurant feels decent, but nothing terribly special beside the patio views. Really good mexican restaurant. This place is super delicious but beware it's a bit pricey. This restaurant is located on the second floor and has view of the boats and ocean. Waiter checked every 5-10 min to see if we are good. They provided complimentary tortilla chips and salsa. I ordered 3 tacos; pork belly, fish, and their monthly special. Pork belly this time was very delicious. It was my favorite. I came last year and wrote a review saying it was bland. I can say that this time it's not bland and so delicious. Fish taco tasted amazing as well. For their tacos, they use one tortilla instead of two, I would still love to see two instead of one. Three tacos are very filling. I would want to come back to eat. Saturday morning 11am took the 121 bus from DTLB to try them for the first time. Weather was cool, but sunny. Hostess was nice and our waiter, Albert, did a great job. We sat outside for the marina view. I had the mango margarita and the wife had some Sauvignon Blanc. We shared a bowl of tortilla soup. It was very tasty and plenty for two people. I had the Lobster Quesadilla. Outstanding! Lots of tender lobster meat. My wife enjoyed her watermelon/beet salad. Enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and had a second round of drinks. Food: Tres Tacos $21 consisting of: ++Coconut Shrimp Taco (Taco of the month) This was quite delicious. The shrimp was battered with a nice crisp with the coconut shavings. This actually surprised me because I wasn't expecting much. My coworker who came previously also recommended this taco. ++Blackened Shrimp Taco + $4 Pan-seared shrimp with chile-lime aioli, guacamole and pomegranate seeds The various flavors paired well together with the shrimp. ++Lobster Taco + $7 Maine lobster, citrus butter, sriracha-agave aioli slaw They were not skimpy with the lobster, and it tasted fresh! I ate this taco first and wolfed it down! Abuela's Rice and Beans $10 Good, both the rice and beans were flavored well. Chips and Salsa - Complimentary The chips are homemade and actually seasoned. So tasty! Customer Service: The guy was kind and attentive. He got us refills even when we didn't ask and even helped us take a group photo at the very end and took a few pics lol. Seating: They had spacious indoor and outdoor seating available. We got to sit outside, which had a nice view of the waterfront, so that added to the experience. Fortunately, it was a little overcast that day so it wasn't too sunny and not too hot. Parking: Paid parking structure available. We didn't have any issues finding an open spot when we came. We had great time here. We sat at the rectangular tables with the fire pit in the middle, and the manager was kind enough to start the fire for us. Also, the staff was attentive and kind. We received plenty of chips and salsa. Their chips were especially tasty. Furthermore, the atmosphere here was wonderful with a fantastic view of the water. I ordered two tacos: pork belly and chile relleno. Both of the tacos were delicious. They came with a side of beans and rice. I left feeling very satisfied with the experience. The one downside that I would note is that I felt that the prices were definitely on the pricier side. Our servers were sweet and attentive throughout our time there. The complementary chips and salsa were tasty. I ordered the agave salmon plate. The salmon needed more seasoning for sure. Cilantro lime rice was also bland. My date had fish tacos w/ Spanish rice and black beans. I tasted his food and it was decent but still needed more seasoning and spices. The restaurant was nearly empty -- maybe five customers total -- so there was no excuse for slow service, yet the food still arrived not warm. Last Sunday we came here for my wife's and I must say Ola's did not disappoint. The was great tasteful and not overpowering. I had the Rib Eye Enchiladas and the time before that shrimp and lobster enchiladas. There both were great but I have towards the shrimp and lobster enchiladas it was well balance for my taste. They shared the dessert with 5 others. We asked the server and he did not bring another dessert. That was rude on his part and not right!
