Donuts here are so unique and delicious! Luckily when my family and I came by on Saturday afternoon, there was no line and just a couple flavors sold out. Staff was friendly and offered some good suggestions of flavors to try. All the flavors looked so so good and it was hard deciding which ones to get. My husband said that we could buy a few, taste some and bring the rest home. We ended up with a Butter pistachio, earl grey cake, Creme brulee and cookie and cream ball, and an iced Yuzu dream to drink. OMG...the donuts were so yummy! My family sat at one of the tables outside and ended up inhaling all 4 donuts and had nothing to bring home. While all the ones we got were delicious, my favorite was the butter pistachio. I loved the topping and the creme filling inside. All the donuts weren't too sweet and the texture had a nice chew. The drink was pretty good, but it's something I think I can make at home with my Korean citron jam (the one you mix with water) and some juice. I've never had this happen to me at a donut shop before, but the manager/cashier who took my order was so kind, he actually came outside and checked up on us to see if we were enjoying our donuts. To be honest, wasn't a huge fan of any of the donuts I ordered. The butter pistachio had a strong butter flavor (no hint of butterscotch to me) which over powered any hint of pistachio. Freshly Made donuts and available parking. Old Ferry Donuts was originally from South Korea and has locations here in the USA (OC area). Here are the donuts that I've tried so far: Butter Pistachio 5/5: OMG SO GOOD, so light and creamy not too sweet and heavy. My personal favorite but also their #1 best selling. Peanut Butter 5/5: I love that the donut is filled with peanut and they are generous with the filling. Cream Brulee 3.5/5: It was a little heavy for my liking and it was ok to me. Cookie & Cream: 4/5: taste what a cookie and cream donut would taste like. Milk Cream: 5/5 so light and fluffy, not too sweet. Also one of my favs, might even beat the butter pistachio. Overall for donuts, they're not overly sweet like the American donuts. But they do have unique flavors to try. They also sell drinks as well but I haven't try yet. I ended up coming on a weekday afternoon, after calling to confirm that they still had multiple flavors in stock. They're located in the same plaza as Bonchon and Paris Baguette. Parking is pretty crazy unless you go during off hours, so I would suggest just finding street parking and walking over. Old Ferry Donut is actually a Korean-donut store with multiple locations (Buena Park, K-Town, Cerritos) but founded in Seoul. I think what sets them apart from other donut stores is the flavors and the fact that some donuts have incredibly amazing fillings. They have a menu of flavors - some not yet available since the SG location just opened up. I ordered six donuts - with the total coming out to be more than $30. Each one is around $4-5. The first donut I tried was their butter pistachio ($4.75). This is probably the donut that is THE must try if you're wondering what to order. I cut into it immediately and was blown away by the pillowy softness of the donut and the delectable pistachio cream inside. Highly recommend this. This was my absolute favorite. As for the other donuts, I didn't think they compared to that butter pistachio. I will say that the tiramisu ($4.75) was probably my next favorite. I enjoyed the mascarpone cream and overall taste of this donut. I was pretty excited for the creme brulee ($4.75), but I think the overall taste was just okay. I expected the filling to be much sweeter and the outer shell of the donut wasn't crispy enough. The other donuts that I tried were ones that I could pass the next time I visit. Boston cream ($3.75) was a bit too dry and not memorable. Milk cream ($3.75) actually didn't have enough flavor in the filling for me and was not special. Always been wanting to try these donuts since seeing them at The Source, so i'm glad they opened one up in the neighborhood! Unfortunately the parking situation is pretty bad lol. There's so many popular stores in this plaza that it gets extremely filled. They do have an overflow parking lot area that's not too far, but have to across the street. The last few times I wanted to visit the shop, they were sold out of donuts and closed for the day. I commend this place for bringing innovative ideas to the world of donut. They have a variety of unique flavors that is not typically found in most donut shops. Price is on the higher side - $4-6 for a donut. 1. Tiramisu Donut (5/5) This was the only donut of the lot that we got that was actually enjoyable and that we finished completely. The base is the yeast donut, so it is light and airy, which is what I personally prefer over the cake donuts. Half if the glaze is chocolate and half is powdered cocoa. I wish the chocolate and cocoa are integrated throughout the whole donut rather than split half-half for a more balance of flavor with each bite. The donut is filled with a light airy cream and was not too sweet. 2. Earl Grey Donut (2/5) The base donut is a cake donut, which made it too heavy and oily. The earl grey flavor in the glaze was good, but overall, this was way too sweet. I was only able to eat 1/3rds of it. As a tea-flavored donut, you would think something light, not too sweet, paired with a good cup of tea would be ideal. 3. Cinnamon Donut (1/5) Another cake-based donut that was very heavy, oily and sweet. Since this does one does not have any glaze, just the cinnamon sugar on top, you can really taste the saltiness in the cake-dough. Yuck! 4. Raspberry Donut (1/5) The glaze was too sour and sweet. Located in a busy San Gabriel strip mall full of popular restaurants like Bonchon and many others, parking can be a real drag at night. During the day, you can usually find a spot, thankfully. In fact I had a butterscotch latte, which was absolutely mind blowing. The problem is I am not a real sugar guy. I like sweets that are not sugary syrupy sickly sweet but counterbalanced with salt or mildly sweet. That is not this place. Every donut we tried was incredibly sweet. Enough so to throw a diabetic into shock. Service was very friendly and the place is small but cute. It was extra cute because it was Christmas time and everything was decorated, and who doesn't love Christmas decorations. If you like super sweet desserts, this is a place for you. The flavors are certainly unique and there are plenty of varied choices. Unfortunately, it's just not my thing. I would go back for their coffee, though. Finally tried OFD donuts to see what all the hype is. The newest location is in San Gabriel inside the Mission View Plaza where Bonchon Chicken and Paris Baguette are also located. The parking lot is not big and they are in a busy shopping center so grab street parking if you see a spot. I asked what the most popular flavor is and it's the Butter Pistachio donut which happens to be what looked the best to me. It is indeed a very good donut combining a creamy filling that's sweet with a hint of salt plus a freshly fried dough and a crunchy topping. Also got the Cream Brulee donut which is solid but wasn't as unique as the Butter Pistachio. Then, I had to go for a basic donut which the Milk Cream Ball looked to be. Fresh cream, good airy fried dough and sugar. Can't go wrong with that combo. Simple and effective. I've been looking forward to this spot to open ever since the signs were put up and it fully exceeded our expectations! The customer service was wonderful and the workers were so fun to talk to! (5/5) The tiramisu was also very very good, half coated in cocoa powder, half what I assume is coffee(?) and also filled with a cream. The cream was different from the pistachio one but so delicious. (4.5/5) The milk cream ball was a light and airy sugar donut filled with a light and airy whipped cream with a nice sweetness! I loved how fluffy the cream was. (4/5) Personally, the earl grey was not my favorite, but maybe someone who loves cake donuts would enjoy it more! I found the frosting to be on the sweeter end as well. Old Ferry Donut has quickly become one of my go-to spots for treats for special occasions (such as birthdays). I love the taste and overall look of the donuts- they have a variety of flavors that don't taste overly sweet! I don't think you could go wrong with any of the flavors but I believe raspberry ring and butter pistachio are crowd favorites among my family and friends. I personally haven't run into any long lines, but another bonus is that you could place an order online for pick up! The only other thing to note is parking. Unfortunately it is located in a busy plaza with a pretty small lot so parking may be an issue during peak times. read more

This is a very cute place, although it's clearly a chain. As for me, I like cake donuts, and often prefer the mom and pop shops with the pink boxes (watch Donut King if you haven't yet - it's a great docu). But, we've been on a donut kick lately (thanks made-up holiday National Donuts Day) and were out running errands, and this place was close and looked cute. We arrived late afternoon on a Sunday, and it was pretty empty. Many of their donuts (including the peanut butter and jelly) one was sold out, but we scored a butter pistachio, a choco hazelnut, a lemon poppy, and an original glazed. I mean, they are solid donuts. The butter pistachio was more butter than pistachio, the choco hazelnut was less hazelnut than justifies the name (I think we said something like, "if you imagine how hazelnut tastes hard enough, you can sort of get the idea of hazelnut from this donut"), the lemon in the lemon poppy was REALLY intense..... I prefer this to some of the other boogie donut places (looking at you, Voodoo) whose raised donuts I find too dry. These donuts were moist enough. But they are also like, 4 times the price of the pink box donuts, and are they really 4 times as delicious? Not really. Cute logo and look though. And they have merch. Parking is in the lot.
