    Donut Selection (Part 2)
    Ian A.

I had a lovely experience at Old Ferry Donut (San Gabriel). I ordered the Tiramisu Donut ($4.95). It's a fluffy, BIG donut that tastes like a decadent tiramisu. It's also filled with a light, soft cream. DELICIOUS! I arrived at Old Ferry Donut (San Gabriel) on a Wednesday (around 3:42PM). Parking is simple. There's a competitive customer parking lot. And there's a city public parking lot about a two minute walk away. Staff is very friendly, professional, and welcoming. Staff maintained a bright smile throughout my visit. Staff immediately helped me. Customers can order at the self-service kiosk or counter; however, the kiosk felt very dated & the prices on the kiosk felt less transparent. I recommend just ordering at the counter. There's no penalty for using card at this donut establishment. As mentioned, I love the Tiramisu Donut ($4.95). It's not too sweet; rather, it all felt balanced. However, this is a VERY messy donut; I recommend eating this donut with a fork and knife. The powder fall everywhere, and your clothes can quickly get stained with chocolate powder. Still, it's a delicious pastry. On ambiance, Old Ferry Donut (San Gabriel) is comfortable. This business is more reminiscent of a cafe than a typical donut shop. There's customer internet with password; details on the counter. There's a gender neutral restroom. And there's an electrical outlet & outlet adaptor for devices. The location is fairly small; there's one interior table and one small counter. Fortunately, this place felt airy and well-ventilated. There's also some upbeat, fun music in this clean spot. Overall, I found unexpected joy at Old Ferry Donut (San Gabriel). There's sincere passion & hard work within these walls. If searching for a special donut for a special someone, this is an easy spot to recommend. 4.9 out of 5! Go!

Was craving a coffee and stubble duping this spot on Yelp. And of course the donut was the star of the show! I had the crème brûlée donut and was immediately in love. It's the kind of donut that would make your heart happy! Loved the taste of the toasted glaze on top and filling inside. The donut was surprisingly light and not too doughy. I had their ice cream latte which was a bit too milky for my liking. I feel like a simple black coffee would have gone perfectly paired with the donut. The girl working there was very welcoming and in fact recommended the donut! So that was a win.

4/16/26 Hmn, this Butter Pistachio donut is nudging at me "pick me, pick me!"-- BEST choice EVER!

4/26/25 How did I not drop a review here!? Oh for shame! Thandar is super awesome, friendly--always providing service with a smile. Donuts are so daRn decadent & devilishly delicious that I can't help but return over & over! Cute donut shop with retro design inside & out. The butter pistachio got me on a chokehold- it beckoned and I was hooked!!! So soft, rich, decadent but amazingly not overly sweet. Hubby really fawned over the regular peanut butter donut. Both have this captivating filling that'll bring you to your knees. Dare I say, a mouthgasm? (Stole that word from fellow Yelp Elite, Leonard). Nuff said. Run. Don't walk! Coz once they're sold out for the day, you're @$$3D out Parking can be tricky as it shares a lot that includes Paris Baguette & Bonchon. Enjoy!

Hmmm might be our new favorite donut place. This place has unique flavors such as blueberry, lemon poppy seed (although tastes more tangy & fruity). It's, as Asians like to say, not too sweet. They don't skimp on the flavor. The decor of the San Gabriel location looks dated. I know it's intentional but they could've made it look chicer. We ordered three boxes of donuts and the only girl working there gave us two coffees for free. Also, we let a couple go ahead of us since they only ordered individual donuts. Worth checking out. Price is a bit steep. Update: After introducing the place to my parents, they went to Old Ferry Donut themselves two weeks later to get more donuts. They really liked it as well. They also got another box for my sister. They liked that there's so many flavors to choose from.

Old Ferry is located in a small plaza with a designated parking lot. They have a large selection of donut flavors!! Of the donuts I ordered the stand outs for me were the Butter Pistachio and the Dubai Matcha Donut. The Butter Pistachio is a staple, offering a nutty exterior with a sweet creme filling inside. The donuts are light so you can eat a lot!! I also enjoyed the Dubai Matcha, it wasn't too sweet and had a subtle matcha flavor with a flakey interior to add to the texture. So yummy!!

I recently discovered this donut shop while looking for something beyond the usual traditional flavors and I'm glad I did. Everything I tried had just the right level of sweetness without being overpowering. I ordered: Butter Pistachio donut Crème Brûlée donut Peanut Butter & Jelly donut Peanut Butter donut Onion Sesame (2) All of the donuts were delicious, with unique flavors that really stand out. I haven't tried everything yet, but I'm definitely on a mission to come back and work my way through the menu. My all time favorite is the Onion Sesame flavor. But all in all they were all very good. Customer service was excellent, and the shop itself has a really trendy, welcoming vibe. Overall a great find!

Yum. My friend's daughter really wanted to try old ferry doughnut while we were in the LA area. I'm glad we did! We tried a variety of donuts and all were delicious. Surface was quick and friendly, and the location was clean and bright.

Cream cafe latte paired with raspberry ring donut
    Ann Q.

I'm obsessed with their cream cafe latte! Perfect not too Sweet and you still taste the espresso! It reminds me of sweet cream cold brew but creamier. Paired with my top 3 favorites, raspberry ring for a sweet and slightly tart treat! I've been coming after work and haven't seen the usual gentlemen there, I think maybe it's their daughter or a part timer working now? She's very lovely and knows her stuff! Everyone here is always very welcoming and helpful!

Wow, the donuts here are beautiful and the fact that they are stuffed takes it to another level. The space is also very retro. Great service. Nice merch selection. Please come and create your own adventure.

I love this place! I had it when I was in Korea and was pleasantly surprised to see one in the SGV area. The store is decorated very cutely and I love their hamster mascot. There's limited seating and I feel like most people take it to-go or go in small groups. I tried the pistachio butter and the coffee cream one and both were really great but I loved the pistachio butter the most! It had a very light and nutty texture and was mildly sweet. These donuts are pretty big and I would say one is enough! Luckily I was able to share with a few friends. Great place to stop by if you're looking for a sweet treat!

My love language is showing up to your house with donuts, and Old Ferry has made me the most popular person in every room. You're welcome, everyone. The maple pecan, Dubai pistachio, and PB&J are my personalities. Nutty, crunchy, a little extra? That's the dream. The coffee is great, the retro vibes are giving, the merch is dangerously cute, and the staff actually seems happy to be there (hella rare!). Clean, charming, and fully responsible for my reputation as a good friend. Do not deprive yourself.

Hazelnut Choco and Iced Cream Latte

While I was in the area, there were lots of options for desserts or sweets. Old Ferry Donut popped up and I was somehow drawn by the pictures of cream filled donuts. One of those and a nice coffee drink sounded amazing to me. Here you have lots of options from cream filled or their regular specialty donuts. It was hard making a decision as I want to try a few different ones. I tried there Milk Cream Ball and Choco Hazelnut, which were both recommendations given by the person working there. Along with that, I was recommended to try the Iced Cream Latte. To be honest, that coffee drink may be one of the best I've had, it was bold, rich, and had all the flavors I personally like in my coffee. The donuts were both really good as well, I would probably want to try their Earl Grey, Dubai chocolate, and Pistachio next time. Service was very friendly and helpful. There are only a couple tables to sit inside. Enjoyed everything but definitely try their iced cream coffee!

By far my FAVORITE donut shop and I love this location! -Donuts aren't too sweet and come in the best flavors. -Aesthetic and vibes are super cute! Small and cozy inside, but has seating. -Staff is friendly and helpful. -Outside plaza is nice and cute to walk around after. This is one of my favorite locations because staff is very nice and helpful and the plaza area where it's located is nice! We always stop by whenever we are in the area and usually find street parking to walk over.

On Yelp it says that closing time is at 9 but I showed up to the SG location right at 8 and they were closing up. Is the time on Yelp incorrect?

Supposedly, they do close at 9pm, but that's if they don't sell out. The actual closing time is "til they are sold out or 9pm, whichever came first"

Is it better to get there at a certain time (before they sell out)?

i wouldn't say there is a set time each day but go early if you want the best selection

Do they have the merch section like they do at the location in Buena Park!?

    Yes they do!

As I type this review, I'm already jittery from its sugar rush. (Important: Bring Cash. There's a 50 Cent additional fee for card.) I arrived at KC Donuts (San Gabriel) on a Monday (around 6:35AM). Parking is available in a cramped lot or the nearby neighborhood. I chose neighborhood parking since it's easy to find a spot. Staff is professional, friendly, and welcoming. Staff worked hard. And Staff promptly answered all my questions. On ambiance, KC Donuts (San Gabriel) is spacious for a donut spot. There's also plenty of tables, and there's a couple bottles of hand sanitizers for customers. It's also fairly clean. This popular location had a steady flow of morning customers. Overall, I had a very good experience at KC Donuts (San Gabriel). So , today was my first rodeo here and I have to say : amazing. customer service is so nice and their sandwiches & juices ? AMAZING. The hype & rave my coworkers give this place lives up to it. I love the bread that they use on the sandwiches, not sure if they make it in house but it is definitely not just store brought bread at a market. And everytime I drink their juice i definitely feel good internally, it's like my body likes it. You can see them press the juices in house! The place itself has limited parking space I would say and the interior is definitely mom & pop shop vibes but those are the best places ! I would definitely recommend as well as try their tuna sandwiches because I've heard they're delicious!

Donuts, drinks, sandwiches were great. Cronuts not so much.. I've been really craving a cronut lately, many donut shops don't make them anymore. And saw that they still make them and only have a limited amount before they sell out everyday. It would be best to call to see if they have any left before making you way there if that is what you're looking for specifically, which I was. The recent photos of their cronuts looked so good from other people and sadly that wasn't what I got when I stopped by on a Friday morning around 9am. They have a list of filling you can choose from. I chose Custard, wasn't too sweet and just as expected. Cronut itself was almost like a sliced white bread texture- not much layers like a croissant, not really flaky or buttery.. Glaze on the outside was very very sweet and too thick it created a crust.

And my Alhambra neighborhood go-to is Mr Good's, a no-frills bakery off Valley that shares a strip mall with an aquarium store and a small-operation law office. The doors open at 5AM daily, as the brusquely efficient elderly owners load trays into the display case and grab your selections with a transactional lack of warmth or courtesy. In the early morning, the bright fluorescent lights feel particularly oppressive. Stainless steel chairs are pushed up against 2 wooden laminate tables, and the remaining counter space is littered with old appliances, pink takeout boxes, and other knick-knacks. The poorly lit donut display is filled only with the most traditional varieties -- the apple fritter and cinnamon roll are the edgiest options. Chinese pop music plays, interrupted intermittently by crackling feedback and newscasts from the tiny flatscreen television behind the counter. A consistent trickle of regulars arrive to dine in and take out during the weekday earlybird service. When I arrived about an hour into opening, I was surprised to find that not all donuts were yet available -- specifically, I was left without any maple or chocolate-frosted options. Instead, I settled on a plain glazed raised donut and an apple fritter. The still-warm ring was anything but "plain", and it sported a pleasantly even, melt-in-your-mouth glaze and an excellently light texture. In contrast, the warm fritter was bogged down by grease and butter; despite occasional apple chunks, the flavor was overwhelmingly cinnamon-y and one-dimensional. My two donuts ran me $3.60, cash only. While I might not get the fritter again, the fresh, plain glazed was an unequivocal winner. I see Mr Good's as an occasional on-the-go joint for those hoping to eschew bland chains, but without the bandwidth to trek out to LA's donut heavyweights.
