It has been a long time coming. I'm sometimes spontanius when choosing my dinner and a long drive isn't something i'm always up for when I'm ready to dig in, but wow, what a fool i've been. I made plans on friday to surprise my GF with a nice meal, we were both off and not already tied up, which is rare. we made the journey, maybe 25 minutes from grovetown, walked just after opening, gave our name, had a breif sitdown to take in the scenery, and off we were. I love this experience. I'de call it a restaurant but it was more, it is country dining at its best, nice down home atmosphere, great southern charm, sweet people with a smile and so helpful, organized and clean, i would love to see it at night with some candles, it must be cozy. we made our selections and took it the view, dinner came after a little bit, we both loved it, i was sooo stuffed, be careful of those hush puppies they creap up on you, if there was anything negative to say is there is'nt a lot of side options, no collards or mac and cheese, and thats kinda odd, i never made it to desert so i cant say. give it a try, make sure you check the schedule. read more

Best kept secret for Great seafood in N Augusta. The catfish filets, gator bites & scallops were amazing. They were very lightly breaded & fried. Best grits I've ever eaten as a free appetizer. Yummy! read more

Anytime a restaurant has a petting zoo you should expect the worst meal of your life. I looked at the menu online and I thought there were some healthy options. However when I showed up for an official function we paid 18 dollars for cheap fries food. Not even freshly fried, they had fried it at 5pm and served it at 7pm. Avoid this place. The locals are lying. There is nothing good to eat or do at this restaurant. read more

Sadly, this place is highly overrated. Service was great for our party of forty. Food was something else. Free hush puppies were terrible. They were dry and tasteless with no onions or jalapeños or something to flavor them. Fried shrimp were tiny and grossly over cooked. Whole catfish were also over cooked, dry and tasteless, except for the greasy flavor. Coleslaw was very good. French fries were ok. There are too many great restaurants in this area to ever visit this one again. read more

This is one of those places that gets great reviews from the all you can eat crowd and those who don't know how fish is supposed to be cooked. Fish is overcooked, not unusual, almost all restaurants serving fish in Augusta overcook it to death. Food here is also way too salty, another common sin many restaurants commit. read more

Traveled an hour to have dinner and it was amazing. There was quite a wait but I will say they were completely on top of things and were seating as soon as tables were clear. Our waitress was amazing. After you order you can visit the complimentary grits and hush puppies bar. Absolutely delicious. Atmosphere was very social and friendly. What a hidden gem! read more

I took my wife and Mother in Law here last night. My wife had the fried shrimp, my mother in law had chicken tenders and I had the all you can eat catfish filet. Everyone was impressed with their meal. My catfish was outstanding. Turns out all I could was brought to the table on the first trip. I could not have eaten another bite. The cole slaw, french fries and tarter sauce topped the meal perfectly. The out side of the building is almost surrounded by water and is beautiful and serene. I brought home some catfish stew and it was out of this world crazy good. They have ducks, geese, a peacock, fish and goats that the kids can feed. This is a family oriented and I highly recommend this outstanding it for your dining pleasure. read more

I grew up in North Augusta and we used to come here all the time when I was a kid. So anytime I am back home for a visit I try to come in. We came in for dinner tonight and it was exactly like I remember it. Thursday night special is the all you can eat flounder, catfish, or perch special. All you can eat grits and hushpuppies is included. They serve their sweet tea in Mason Jars for that down home style. If you order the special, be sure to try the whole catfish, I learned from my Dad that this is the best choice. Come hungry and you will leave stuffed and happy! read more

I went there recently and the grits and hush puppies, which are all you can eat, were good. The stuffed jalapenos with crab meat was awful. Broiled shrimp was pretty good, but the fried catfish was overcooked. A bit on the pricey side, and I wouldn't go out of my way to get here but if I'm in the neighborhood I might stop by. The kids love this place as there are animals they can pet and feed, i.e. sheep and goats. read more

I had heard a lot about this place so I decided to give it a try. The wait to be seated wasn't very bling considering the popularity of this place. Once seated I was very pleased with the excellent service. We enjoyed the free grits that were offered while we waited for our order. I wasn't pleased with my combination seafood platter, nor was my wife with hers. The fish and shrimp were not crisp and tasted as if they had been reheated. It was rather close to closing so maybe the food was reheated. We decided to give them another try earlier in the day. I was dissatisfied once again for the same reasons stated above. Have been two times and got shrimp both times. Each time the shrimp had a brown color to them and tasted like they were fried in old oil.

Went there on a Thursday night (they're only open Thurs-Sat). Good place to go with the kids. Love the goats that keep ya occupied while waiting for a table. It really shortens the time. Me and the fiance ordered the $50 platter and it was more than enough for us AND the 3 little ones we had with us. Good frog legs, oysters and gator. It's be better if there were more options than fried and broiled. Even having raw oysters to go with the shrimp, fish and gator would have added a star. read more

What can I say? Delicious! The grits and hush puppies have been a favorite of mine for years. I've seriously never had a bad meal here. The fried shrimp is excellent! One person in our party last weekend got the frog legs and he was impressed. That was his first trip to Old McDonald's. I just love eating there, and wish I lived closer so we could go more often. read more

I am disheartened to post this, but it need to be said. This past Saturday,July 23, 2016, my fellow co-workers and I decided to fellowship at your restaurant. To our dismay, we were told by our waitress that we needed to finish our food and conversation because there was a party of 25 that needed to be seated. In any way were we disorderly or disrespectful. We were enjoying one another's company. However, the waitress was unprofessional, rude, and brash. We chose your place of business, Old McDonald Fish Camp, because we thought it was a family-friendly oriented establishment. We spoke to the manager and she was unapologetic and disinterested in our complaint of how we were treated. We all agreed to not support your place of business and to publicly make a complaint since an apology was not addressed when we made the manager aware of our treatment. I have also decided to make my family members and friends aware of the disrespectful treatment and service. I will not visit this an establishment nor will I recommend it to anyone. read more
