Honestly, due to the server Jesse G, my table and i will never return to this restaurant and never recommend it to anyone. Once being seated, Jesse mentioned to our table that the restaurant was extremely busy that night, and our table of 6 would have to place our entire order, drinks, apps, and entrees, all at once. Okay, not the most relaxing way to start the evening - but we tried to be understanding of the restaurant staff and the reality they were dealing with. he informed us that he was in urgent need of getting us our food and out the door so the next table could be seated, before even getting our coats off! at this point, his constant stressing of getting us out of the restaurant started to make us feel like an imposition. which was surprising considering i made the reservation 3 weeks a head of time and there were multiple empty tables around us at the restaurant. We ordered everything all at once, but asked Jesse if he could make sure that they didnt bring everything all at once. He said that would be no problem! Once we got our drinks, our entire order came out, apps and entrees included. We barely had enough room for everything on the table! Once Jesse noticed our irritation he brought us some free potatoes to try and smooth things over. We tried to talk to him about how we were not enjoying our experience, and he made excuses stating that he was treating us this way because he had bigger tables that would take precedence over us - never saying sorry, but stating that his behavior was warranted. We tried to enjoy the meal but at this point, we felt like we were being treated very rudely for how much money we were spending. Once Jesse brought the bill, one of our table members tried to kindly mention that we didnt have a good experience and felt extremely rushed and kind of ruined our evening - as this was our annual girls dinner and we normally plan the whole evening around sitting at a restaurant, enjoying conversation, and buying expensive drinks and food! After trying to explain how we felt, Jesse got extremely hostile and yelled at us that he was done serving us and we could leave. We checked the bill and noticed that 20% tip was included with out our choice. We tried talking to the manager, as we were shocked having never been treated this way before, and the manager said she was sorry to hear that and we were free to leave. Again, I placed this reservation 3 weeks a head of time. We showed up 20 minutes before our reservation even started. We got our drinks and ate our apps/entrees, and left the restaurant within 40 minutes, for a table of 6. The restaurant was obviously not overwhelmed due to the empty tables and receiving our food about 10 minutes after ordering. It was painstakingly obvious this restaurant does not care about customer service! Please do not go here. read more

We had pre-Lions game lunch the last two weeks at Olin. First the Hanger Steak and eggs were cooked perfectly. The eggs were light and fluffy with just the right amount of cheese added (at my request) the steak was the perfect temp. The next week my son had the French Toast. He told me that we had to eat there from now on when I take him to games. I had the Short Rib Burger, though it is a full sized pattie they flatten two, put cheese between the patties and finish with grilled onions. It was great. We had an absolutely wonderful meal at Olin. We visited downtown Detroit and had dinner with friends here and all of us agreed that the meal was fabulous. Starting from tapas, the octopus had a well balanced smoky flavor and was cooked to perfection (I thought it was well worth the $22, but my husband did not lol). The house made bacon was phenomenal, perfect amount of saltiness and it melted in your mouth- you have to try this! Bravas were probably the best we've tasted anywhere (we've had A LOT of patatas bravas). For main course we had the pork shoulder and char. The char was beautifully seared and perfectly seasoned. The pork shoulder had good flavor, but honestly probably wouldn't order it again since it paled in comparison to the other dishes. We had the chocolate tart for dessert and it was a perfect finish to the meal! The restaurant had only been open for 2 days when we ate there so I'm sure they will get more consistent as time goes by. We hope to visit again! read more

Enjoyed our first meal at Olin this evening! Things were hoppin' in the city, people everywhere enjoying the weather. Plenty of parking in and around the area. We received a warm welcome from the hostess who showed us to a nice table where we could see what was going on in the kitchen as well as enjoy people watching as they passed by the large windows in front. Nice decor, up beat and contemporary with the original tile flooring from yesteryear. Great blend of architecture. Jesse, "waiter extraordinarre," was charming and efficient as well as very knowledgeable of the menu items and their preparation. We relied on his expertise to help us select a variety of small plates. His assistance was appreciated and spot on! Make sure you order some of their amazing bread and honey butter to get started. We especially loved the beet salad, octopus (I've never had such tender and flavorful octopus) and the crispy potatoes...out of this world! Sadly, we didn't save enough room for dessert, but this gives us another excuse to visit soon. Portions on the small plates were generous! On our way out, we noticed our favorite reporter, Liz Lewin, Fox2 Detroit, who was dining on the patio with her two besties, one being her very sweet and well-behaved K9. i think their short rib burger is their best dish because everyone was having that including us but the burger is 9/10 me and sister just feel like there were tiny bones in it but maybe it was just seasoning we're not sure but very juicy burger and fries were good as well the drinks were strong tasted a little like hand sanitizer i got the don't touch mai drink and she got the house marg i'd give the drink a 5 or 6 the ambiance is nice and chill and it's located in a nice area we were able to just walk down to a bar after dinner we parked in a garage and paid like 15 oh and the bill at the restaurant wasn't bad as well we paid like 91 altogether including the two burgers two drinks and a cheesecake which was good about an 8/10 read more
