This restaurant is a keeper! I had lamb shank on two occasions and each time was a totally new experience for me. I say that because on my second try I just couldn't believe how good it was the first time, so the experience was all new again. I have never enjoyed any meat dish any more than this. Complex flavors from meat slow cooked and perfect! And you are made to feel welcome. Some may find the decor off putting, but the food is worth it. We've driven through the area a number of times, and often we stop for dinner at a middle eastern place, or something close. You can do better at other places within a half-hour's drive. We literally stumbled on this little gem because it was open later than the surrounding chains- what great luck! The food was fantastic. We had a Gyro platter that was HEAPED with meat, and the Mixed Grill was perfect. Each variety of meat had its own distinctive spice-profile. Everything seemed fresh and crisp. i think my companion was expecting a sandwich from the platter, but a quick addition of steaming pita and she was thrilled. The Kibbeh was a great appetizer- there are two on the small plate and we should have ordered more. Great starter. They make their own salad dressing- it's light and piquant. I "splurged" on Turkish coffee - was SHOCKED to see it was only 2 dollars once I got the bill-- and was rewarded with as traditional a service as I've gotten in years- froth in the bottom of my cup and near-boiling coffee in the pot-all perfectly spiced. Wish the Entrees and Salad were on different plates- literally my only complaint about the meal, and that's only because I feel obliged to at least pretend to be critical. Our server was very nice. I ordered the shrimp and about 15 minutes after we ordered he explained that the shrimp would take too long to make and he insisted I get the grouper instead. Once the grouper came out, it was completely raw in the middle, I told the server and he simply took my fish back to the kitchen, cooked it a little longer and brought it back. He suggested his favorite which was the chicken shiruma or something I forgot the name. Well we got the food and it had chunks of romaine lettuce, dry chicken, onions, and like 2 pieces of sliced tomatoes all wrapped in like pita bread. One of our party had the lamb shank, which was moist, succulent, and delicious. Rice and Greek salad accompanied the entrees, and both were authentic and delicious. Okay the inside isn't much to look at BUT you'll forget about that as soon as the food arrives. It's fresh and flavorful! They have those wonderful Greek pickles I can't seem to find anywhere else.
