Really cute place with good food. I got the mahi mahi sandwich and it was cooked perfectly. It came with a remoulade and fries. We also had the calamari and it was also good (only wish more sauce came with it). The menu is great and has a lot of offer. The service was attentive without being overbearing. It is a little far from 'tourist' areas in Miami--so take that however you want to. We saw mainly locals and an older crowd inside. I went to Oliver's today for brunch after realizing that my Groupon would expire in about a week. We arrive and parking is surprisingly easy, there was a metered garage just behind the building. We were seated and had to wait for a while before we were attended to but when our server finally came around to us, she was extremely friendly. The food did take very long to arrive. My friend ordered the french toast with fruit and i ordered the popovers. My popovers were good, but nothing to rave over. The french toast was great. Orange juice was fresh but it should be at $4.50 a glass. Overall, the food was good, service was friendly but slow, and the atmosphere is nice. I've been coming to Oliver's for about 6 years now; it's one of my favorites restaurants. The food has always been outstanding, always fresh, always consistent. My favorites are the Hummus appetizer, the House salad, the Arugula with Zucchini Carpaccio, the Branzino, I like their tacos as well, the tortilla soup. Oh and they don't always have it, but when they do... the potato soup is to die for! I also have to mention that their bread with the whipped cream cheese is ridiculous! Their service... most of the time is good. If I had to say anything bad about Oliver's... I would say that when there are smokers sitting around you, the smoke stays in the air for a long time because the outside area is somewhat enclosed with the awnings. They should divide it to two areas; that way people that don't smoke can enjoy their meal without a Marlboro cloud over them. read more

you HAVE to have the Mac and Cheese My boyfriend and I challenged ourselves not to go to any restaurant we had been to before for the next 30 days. We dine out a LOT so this is a big challenge! We stumbled upon Oliver's Bistro and took a gamble. SO GLAD WE DID! He had the spaghetti and meatballs and it came with four huge meatballs and a good amount of pasta. The mac and cheese, however was unbelievable. Great creamy cheesy sauce with pieces of chicken, mushrooms, bacon and peas. Served in a cast iron skillet, it was impressive as soon as it set on the table. Another thing I liked was that the food was served HOT. Almost too hot! But I'd rather that than a meal that gets cold before I'm finished (Im a slow eater!) the garlic butter that came with a bread was also outstanding. My only complaint would have to be that the waitress took awhile to get us refills, BUT on the same token I didnt feel rushed. She cleared our plates and saw that we still had full drinks and ere enjoying talking and holding hands and she left us alone until we asked for the check. Overall a great experience and great meal. We stopped in here for breakfast on Saturday. As we were wanting to head to the beach. Oliver's seemed like the logical choice. The location is not hard to find, it's bright orange umbrellas make it quite easy to spot. Though parking I imagine can be a struggle on big holidays or large event days. However, we did not encounter any issues finding street parking. We went in the late morning so the inside was empty and the outside was lively and busy. We selected inside just to escape the heat for a little bit. And we were greeted and sat immediately. The decor in the restaurant is very chic. I felt like I entered someone's well designed outdoor living space rather than a restaurant. It was very well designed, and had a well organized bar. The service was on point, the gentleman that assisted us was fantastic. Extremely professional, knowledgable, and timely. Our food was excellent as well. I ended up with the Belgian waffles, with an upgrade from fruit to the strawberries and cream. Hands down that was the best decision all day. My friend got the bowl of strawberries and cream. Though 8$ it was worth it when you see how much you received. In addition she also got the 2 eggs any way and she mentioned that everything was tasty and well cooked. For drinks, I'm going to highly recommend the bellinis. They were tasty and not too overpowering. And stronger than most that we have encountered during our trip. The food here is pretty amazing. The dutch apple pancakes were just sinfully delicious. They had this amazing crust that was super addicting and the apples were the right balance between crisp and soft. My friend got the waffles and they were also fluffy and delicious. We shared the egg, sausage and cheese popover. The eggs within the popover were cooked perfectly. The popover, on the other hand, was just average. As another reviewer pointed out, it was on the dry side. The service was pretty average. I understand we were two girls ordering a lot of food, but I would think that was our call and not our servers. She questioned our order and why we would want to order so much. Hadn't been here since it first opened nearly 20 years ago and I was so happy I went back to try it. This is a great neighborhood place that could easily become my go-to spot when I am too lazy to make dinner. It's got a huge and varied menu with something to satisfy everyone. My husband and I went to Miami Beach for my birthday, and I have very high standards being from NYC, but Oliver's was great. Located in the most active part of South Beach on the intracoastal side, it was a short drive from our hotel. I had the potato gnocchi with peas. parmesan, and vodka sauce. The sauce was exceptionally rich and creamy with a lot of umami flavor. My husband ordered the beef bourguignon with carrots, pearl onions, and potatoes. The burgundy wine sauce was peppery and delicious, and the beef was delightfully tender and fell apart easily without the use of a knife. We shared the bruschetta for an appetizer and I was surprised by the quality. My husband and I paired it with a well-enjoyed Merlot for a $12 corkage fee. All in all, I think if I were vacationing in Miami Beach again I would consider for dinner, and I am considering it for the well-renown brunch on Sunday. Living on West Ave, the convenience factor of Oliver's is through the roof. I literally just have to walk down the street to have a good meal at Oliver's. I have eaten at Oliver's 3 times and each time, the food was just OK. As a vegetarian, there weren't many choices for me, and I think I have pretty much had all of the options. The first time I went, I had the zucchini salad and added the marinated tofu. The salad was so bland, really nothing special. But the tofu was very tasty. I've also eaten the vegetable wrap, which was standard, veggies on a tortilla wrap. The fries were pretty good, though. For dinner one night, I had the buccatini with veggies. IT WAS SO SPICY!!! There was no indication on the menu that it was spicy. And I didn't think to ask because it's pasta with veggies on top, how could that be spicy? Well, I think the noodles must have been made with extra pepper in them because my mouth was having a spice explosion! My girlfriends and I arrived in South Beach exhausted, bleary eyed, and extremely hungry. We found salvation in the form of breakfast at Oliver's! This also happened to be the first taste of Miami food for us so that was exciting. We arrived promptly when they opened and were the first customers of the day. I ordered the 3 eggs omelette with spinach, mushroom, cheddar cheese, and sausage. The 3 eggs omelette is $9.95 but you get only 2 ingredients in your omelette; additional items are $1.95 EACH which I found totally absurd. However, my stomach overcame my rationality and so I ordered 2 more ingredients. I also wanted an egg white omelette but that too would be an additional $2, which I could not justify at all. The omelette was fresh and delicious but I couldn't get over the fact that a few leaves of spinach and some cheese added so much to my bill. Friends ordered the eggs benedict and said they really enjoyed it. Customer service was very attentive too. However, the overcharging for extra ingredients sort of took away the joy of eating the yummy omelette. read more
