And I had a really hard time picking up the taco because it was very wet and falling apart -The black beans were decent but cost like $6 -My girlfriend did enjoy her Chillo Relleno which I was happy to hear, and is why I gave the food 2/5 because at least something worked out :) Will we be back? Items ordered: ~Shrimp Tacos: Taco dishes come with 2 and a 3rd for extra charge. ~Chicken Tinga Tacos: These tacos were packed with chicken! We ate some of the chicken plain and then added street corn to the tacos. ~Ceviche; guacamole, tomatoes, shrimp, pico de gallo, and cod. This was a great appetizer. We started with the zucchini con queso and the quesadilla. The zucchini was the star of the day. I really enjoy the zucchini, but if they severed it with chips it would be a better starter. Was the idea to just have people eat straight cheese or force people to order chips? Still really good though. The quesadilla, I actually don't remember. It wasn't bad just not rememberable. Then for our mains we got the quesabirria tacos and the mole enchiladas. The quesabirria was really good. The meat was delicious on its own, the consume was just the cherry on top. My mole was really good too. I really liked their version of mole. We also got dessert, so we got the flight of desserts. I think it was a mistake. I got way too excited for the possibilities. We got some basic churros, I guess they tried. The flan was okay, but it was served with whipped cream and a single blueberry??? Not sure the thought process was there. Then the ice cream was just straight up from the wholesaler ice cream tube. The desert was a big disappointment. It should have been called the trio not worth the calories. Overall, disappointed with the food misses. The menu sounds really interesting and you get your hopes up for superiorly made, semi fine dining quality. But you end up with semi better basics. Located in the San Pedro plaza area. Garage parking is always easy to find, but always somehow difficult to get into. We also got seated in the artic storm part of the restaurant with a loud co-workers group. Hella other tables available. Probably would have been warmer sitting outside. We came to Olla Concina with a group of 8 adults and 2 kids. It was Mexican Independence Day, so we wanted to celebrate by having some Mexican food. Olla Cocina is dog friendly inside and out, so our two pups were able to join as well. Everyone was pretty happy with their meals. Heads up, a carafe was just enough for two people to have 2.5 small glasses. My friend also ordered their spicy margarita and she really liked it. FYI, only the carafes are part of the happy hour special. Food: We ordered the happy hour nachos for the table. I've had these before and they never disappoint. They make their chips in house and they're so good! One thing I want to point out is that apparently they don't have in house salsa they give for their meals..what kind of Mexican place doesn't make their own salsa?! When I asked our waiter, he looked confused that I even asked and brought out tapatio and chalula.. Better than nothing I suppose! For my main dish I ordered the cheese mole enchiladas. Excellent Mexican restaurant located right on San Pedro Square in downtown San Jose. The semi outdoor indoor ambience of this restaurant is very unique and really sets the stage for the experience you'll have if you come here. The day they open all the windows which are basically walls and you can be seated inside but feel like you're outside and enjoy the warm breeze and the sun from the outside. We really enjoyed this. The food is excellent. Have a good variety of cocktails. They have a full bar with excellent bartenders are very professional and attentive. They make margarita and their specialty craft cocktails are invented here directly in the restaurant. We weren't disappointed with anything we tried. Regarding the food, they have a pretty good menu anything from a variety of different tacos to enchiladas to basic plates like Carne Asada and shrimp . I'm sure you'll find something here and they even have a small kids menu. The service here was also excellent. Everybody was super friendly and we got served pretty quickly. This place can get very busy because of how popular it is, we never had to wait too long for anything. I was looking for some easy lunch options on a Saturday while I was downtown and picked Olla Cocina based off of their reviews and delicious looking food. I ordered the Nachos de la Olla with beef, a side order of guacamole, and a virgin mango margarita to go (total was about $25 before tip). For the quality and quantity of food, I definitely think it was a steal. The nachos tasted really hearty and their guac was a great compliment to the dish. Margarita glasses were empty. Waiter missed a golden opportunity to sell more drinks by not checking on us. Two entrees arrived and we were finally able to get more chips. The other 3 entrees arrived 10 minutes later. Street corn was delicious. Refried beans and rice were the best tasting parts of our entrees but were COLD. My girlfriend and I came in here and asked how many drinks are in a pitcher. Bartender said 4.5 so we thought it was worth it but there were barely 3 drinks in there. For almost 50$ it's incredibly not worth it. Stay away unless you wanna get lied to and scammed. We also did not see our initial bartender once after ordering and waited forever to be closed out by someone else. Also, don't expect fresh shaken drinks here, the paloma pitcher we got came straight out of a draft. Genuinely what finer dining mexican restaurant doesn't freshly shake their cocktails? The front entrance has a patio that opens up to the street, so you can see the lights and people passing by. We came in on a Friday evening as a group of 5, and they had a lot of open tables. You order at the counter, and then they'll bring you your order. The staff was very attentive and the food came out very fast (less than 10 minutes). I ordered the Shrimp Tacos, and they were delicious! The shrimp was tasty and the sauces in the taco were tangy. The only thing I disliked was that the portion size was really small - only two tacos. This place is on the pricier end of $$ restaurants, in my opinion. We also ordered a pitcher of Paloma. The drink was a great cocktail, so kudos to the bartender. Came here on a Friday to celebrate my friends birthday, thankfully this restaurant has a reservation system online which is easy to set up. The server was sweet, she was even able to secretly bring out a free ice cream desert for the birthday girl. My table got 3 mango slushees with alcohol and the birthday girl got a shark drink. This was my first time here and was very pleased! Their happy hour is awesome and would totally recommend going during those times. We got a spicy marg pitcher to share that was delicious and I got 2 beef tacos and 1 chicken. My beef tacos came first and it took them about 15 minutes to bring out the chicken. I also asked an employee to bring me extra salsa three times till it came out. So I do with customer service was better. I also want to mention I eat a strict gluten free diet due to health reasons and I did not have any reaction.
