YUM! Went there around 1030 last night with some of my girlfriends. I ordered a sausage, bacon and swiss omelet with a side of sausage, my tablemates ordered a cheese omlette, french toast, and a breakfast sandwich. Mine was OUT OF THIS WORRRRLD. Idk what kind of sausage they use but I want it in my mouth all the time. Stole a piece of my friends bacon, excellent. My friend with the french toast exclaimed OMG REAL FRENCH TOAST, and it was gone in 30 seconds. So I'm pretty sure it was delicious. All and all an excellent experience. read more

This is a very old diner that keeps the classic look- besides, it has been in business for almost 60 yrs. Typical diner w/ diner food, great service. After having a rough day, I got out of work and was starving. When I pulled into the parking lot it was 11:15pm and I realized they closed at 12. I was scared to go in because I didn't want to be a pain but I did and when I asked if it was too late the waitress told me "no not at all" without hesitation. She was so kind, quick and on top of her game. When paying for my meal, a man who I believe is the owner, asked me if I was just getting out of work and I told him yes. i have been going here for years and must say that today was a horrible visit. my friend was asking questions about what was in a meal, and the waitress went back to the kitchen to ask but talked badly about us to her co worker after doing so, multiple times at that. we were poorly served, things were late, an attitude from the waitress, and an overall bad experience. the manager should speak to their staff. read more

I stopped here for breakfast a couple of weeks ago while in the area. I like diners and this one is the real old authentic style diner, in pretty great shape. I was seated quickly and service throughout my visit was consistently good, though a little slow. I was there on a Sunday morning so quick service wasn't important, but it might have annoyed my if I had been on my way to work. The food is basic diner food - nothing really stands out, but is all good (at least what I ordered). Stopped by this diner the other day...more of a brunch time than breakfast or lunch. Ordered a roast beef club and it was very good. Roast beef was very lean and fries were not greasy at all. Wife ordered a breakfast plate and said that the omelet was very, very good. Came with the standard homefries (not greasy at all) and enjoyed the rye bread toast. Coffee was also very good. Very good chicken rice soup. greek salad was a hit for me because it included Dolmas, But, sadly, it lacked green pepper, anchovies and a house greek dressing. Even with the limitations, it was delicious with a balsamic vinaigrette. Loved this local place and would not hesitate to return again when I'm back in the area. Saw what other diners had on their platters and - portions were generous and the food looked delicious. The service was great, also. This is the second time that we have eaten here; it is about 40 miles from our house. This is a very large diner - - which is very good because every time we drive by this place the parking lot is full. This time we had simple bacon and eggs with toast and home fries. It is what you would expect. Our daughter had an egg and cheese on a hard roll and our son-in-law had a philly-steak-n-cheese sandwich. The staff is very attentive and there were no problems what so ever - - a very solid diner with good food and good service. They also have Wi-Fi, go figure. Enjoy. read more

We had been coming here forever, and had noticed a recent diminution of quality. Gone are the free refills of tea with tea bags, although hot water refills are still offered, as are coffee refills. The poor-quality radio now blasts music throughout the diner; hopefully, you like their selection, tough if you don't. A chunk of organ meat identified by the cook as chicken gizzard made its way, hidden within a side order of home fries purchased by my wife. Now she has nothing against chicken gizzards, per se, however biting into one unprepared is an unsettling experience. The cook offered us half off on that order, which I consider an inadequate recompense for a place wanting to keep its customers returning. We can only hope that the owners attempt to do better in the future. In the interest of fairness, my wife has also reviewed this experience under her account. read more

Overall not good food. The clam chowder had a fine flavor but it was watery. Moussaka and Gyro were both blah. Gyro should have tzatziki sauce but instead it came with a little cup of some strange cream cheese tasting concoction on the side. The vegetables that came with the moussaka were overcooked. Had dinner here with my husband tonight. Though I enjoyed my eggs Benedict, my husband was very disappointed with his stuffed cabbage that was filled with much too much rice and not much hamburger. The Olympia Diner and I go way back. It's the only place I ever had a guy declare his love for me. In his defense it was back when the diner was 24 hours, occurred after his stag and he also declared his love for his other groomsman present. Frankly we deserved his love that night. And, Olympia diner deserves it's three star rating. There is nothing either bad nor good about the diner. It is, in fact, pedestrian. The coffee is mild, the eggs are unseasoned and the home fries are rather plain. But the coffee is hot and plentiful, eggs are well cooked, and the home fries have that bit of crunchy crust. Is it bad? No. Is it good? Not really. No longer opened 24 hours a day, the diner isn't as convenient as it used to be. It is, however a slice of time. I recommend that if you go, you sit in the diner car and enjoy a bit of Americana. For 80 years the Diner car has served meals to thousands of people. Including to one guy after his stag who ordered just about everything and declared his love for two friends. That alone is enough to keep me coming back. read more

I've been going to the Olympia for my whole life (born and raised in Newington). The food here is OK. Very generic fare. No real "specialities". For example, the breakfast menu is just your standards. Bacon, eggs, French toast, pancakes, a few omelets and that's really it. My son and I ate there Saturday May 18th 2014 around 11am in the dining room, and the service was terrible. The waitress in our section had some personal friends sit in her section, and she sat down and talked with them, only revisiting our table once. By the end of our meal, or cups were empty, and I was a little irate. Overall I would go back again. As an aside, I wish they would restore the outside to it's former glory. Well were do I start I've been to Olympia dozens of times,on this night I wasn't pleased the guy mopping the floor made a wise comment he was gonna charge me to use the bathroom cause I was in there 4 minutes now mind you I was working all day (tiling had thinset on my hands face and arms) so I just wanted to wash up a bit and grab my take out on my way home from a long day at 11 40 pm before they closed . When I got to the register to pay for my 9.95 lasagna and 795 Genoa grinder the girl took 38 bucks out of my hand and kept asking for more I asked how much it was she said 24 .38 and said oh I was gonna give the 10 back Yes she gave me the 10 back but gave me no change from 38 bucks other than a ten so I geuss my 995 lasagna and 795 Genoa totalled 28 bucks I didn't say anything whatever ( I got the feeling she thought I was drunk and was taking advantage of me) Then I inquired about a few slices of cake which I bought now menu says 3.95 each (which I got one chocolate 1 carrot and one cheesecake) so I was thinking 3 times 4 plus tax maybee thirteen bucks Not tonight those 3 scrawny pieces totalled 16.32 I think I got fleeced by a couple girls trying to inflate there daily wages cause they thought I was cocked I'm not sure I'm ever going back to olympia as good as there breakfast is I'm pissed read more

Olympia diner has a great diner style, but it gives this feeling of dirtiness. I ordered the chocolate waffles and a coffee. It took about 45 minutes for the food to come out! The coffee, at first sip was terribly sour. I don't know how coffee can get sour but here i guess is an exception. The waffle was tough and thin. It was tasteless, you could be better off eating aunt jemimas. The waiter failed to bring my wife's main dish, the eggs Benedict, but remembered to get her coffee, and side of bacon! This was definitely intentional! We never saw the waiter again so we never could ask where her dish went. after about half an hour a different waiter came and asked if we were all set. My wife let the waiter know what happened and the dish was brought out promptly, all together this escapade took over 1 and a half hours, there is a very similar review for this restaurant as well, I wonder if it was the same day? read more
