This place replaced the previous Korean restaurant "Ara", but their new renovations look great. There are two areas, one that is much more like a bar with KPOP playing and the other is a quieter, family friendly space. The portions here are very generous and affordable. I recommend the spicy rice cake, but beware, it is very spicy! The beef bulgogi was a bit more dry to my liking but I am very excited to try out different dishes in the future. We were there today on this 4th of July holiday. Restaurant was really busy, and was placed on the waitlist and was told it would. be about a 20 min wait. We were waiting on the lower level side of the restaurant and the few times we ate there we were seated quickly at the upper level side of the restaurant. We were watching and Host sat the 3 other "Korean" groups/ family that walked through the door. And we were completely ignored. My husband was PIST and let the host know and we left! It took my husband a while to calm down. He completely ignored us obviously. I guess we were not "Korean " enough for him. Host should not work there bad for business! read more

Great Korean restaurant in the Murray Hills area! I stopped in for takeout around 9pm and got my two favorites: bibimbop, and kimchi stew. Both had excellent flavor and presentation. The extras and sides to the bibimbop dish were also good: pickled, flavorful, fresh. The stew was so hot it nearly melted the container, but I like hot soup! It had just the right amount of spice, and big flavorful chunks of veggies throughout. The restaurant was clean and modern looking, and the staff friendly and welcoming. This place is also open late, which is great to have a good option considering other places start shutting down around 8 or 9. Had a double date last night with some friends. We haven't been to One Korean in years. It took awhile for the wait staff to service the front-end of the restaurant but food was absolutely outstanding so it was worth the wait. I had to get up and seek out another pitcher of water, additional napkins and beer at one point because the service was virtually non-existent. We got the kimchi pancake (my favorite), hot Bibimbap (outstanding!), ramen, short ribs, fermented tofu and a variety of other sides. All dishes were delicious as commented by everyone and we shared several family style. If you don't mind slow service in exchange for excellent food, I highly recommend this restaurant. Next time, we might do take-out instead. It would be nice if we could pre-order and dine in but that's not customary. read more

Huge disappointment. Feeling ripped off and stupid. Just paid $11.95 for what tasted like packaged ramen, and I've had better packaged ramen. One Korean Restaurant, located in Beaverton, is my favorite in the Portland area. Great food, great service. Even though it is not close to my home, I will make the drive to satisfy my cravings. My usual is the Nakji Bokeum (octopus stir fry). The sauce is outstanding and the portion is huge. Even for a big eater like me, I usually have leftovers to take home. Highly recommended for those who enjoy spicy food. Panchan (side dishes) have a nice variety. I have to say their service is beyond 5 stars. Very nice staff. They taught us how to eat our food too haha. We got the soy sauce garlic fried chicken and budaejigae. The fried chicken is ok. I never had authentic korean fried chicken, so for me, their fried chicken is pretty acceptable. I am Taiwanese. Their fried chicken doesn't taste like bad American Chinese food thought. I don't know why some people here got super upset with their fried chicken lol. The budaejigae is same as what I expected. I wish they would put more cheese in it though. Compare to Nakwon or JDC, maybe the food is not as good as theirs, but as least you don't have to wait for a long time. I also love their side dishes (more than Nakwon)! read more

Coming across this place via a random restaurant generator, I did not think much of it. It has the usual modern Korean restaurant feel that's familiar and enjoyable and the smells from the kitchen will make you hungry just from walking in. After being initially here's, I knew I would be in for a good time. The menu is small, but that's not a bad thing. They know what they love to make and they make it very well. The soy garlic chicken is superb, and while the fried rice does take a bit longer to come out, the flavors are well worth it. One has taken over the space that used to be Ara. I was really excited to read these raving reviews but having had the food here tonight I'm skeptical about the five star ratings. The seafood pancake was ok, not crispy and lacked proteins but it did come with a helluva lotta green onions. There's just too many misses here though. The soon do boo (Seafood Tofu Stew) was padded with so much artificial crab (and the same observation applies to the seafood pancake) that the gambit to cut costs here was so in your face that I just left the bowl unfinished. There is definitely a disconnect between my experience and the glowing reviews on here. Yelpers have raved about the banchan at One. Huh? The banchan was awful. These are the complimentary appetizers that are done far better at Daechaegum (sp?) and Nakwon. There was one that was literally sliced hotdog. Like serious? I wouldn't even serve guests in my home sliced hotdog...unless they're still learning their ABCs and eat with a bib. Other yelpers have sung praises about the fried chicken. I'm baffled at this point. It's a PHOTOGRAPH of fried chicken but it comes out as a sweeter and greasier version of Mandarin/General Tso's/Orange Chicken from a Chinese greasy spoon. Have none of the yelpers who write about how wonderful their KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) is actually eaten a real KFC from places like Bonchon? If you haven't and you're reading this, then please don't write a raving review about it until you've had some basis for comparison. As of writing, One has 4.5 stars. This kind of grade inflation is absurd. There are restaurants in town where the kitchen staff actually give a f-- about what's being served. This place isn't one of them....yet. I was surprised to see that they replaced Ara restaurant. The layout is still the same but with more decorations. I ordered Budaejjigae to share because it's pretty big, it's plenty for 2 people. The dish was okay, all I tasted was spicy. The side dishes were pretty good. The lady who served us was very nice. She told us we were ordering too much when we order something else in addition to the Budaenjjigae. Other servers wouldn't care and would take the order anyways. This place was very very good. I got the pork bulgogi and bibibamp and fried rice. The bulgogi was amazing super flavorful but not to overpowering. The fried rice lacked in flavor and was ok but the bibimbap was very good. The portions are very well sized and they give you some good pre food appetizers (kimchi things of that nature. You have your choice of water or tea to start out, I got the tea. Over all this new spot is very good and not to busy. Staff is so friendly and one of the other bright spots here as will. Delicious. Rice included with our order. You can really tell this restaurant has pride in their food and presentation. They even have stickers on their to-go boxes.
