Happy hour special - beef and beef ball mixed pho with viet iced coffee
    Maya L.

Service was great. She said you can combine the beef ball and beef pho together in the happy hour for no extra charge. I also opted for the iced coffee so it was around $13 for both. Lady was super nice and accommodating. Only docking one star because you can def get better pho elsewhere - at least for the broth. Wish they had chili oil or jalapeños. But I will come back again for happy hour and try more options :)

Veggie pho (a very sad one -- there are overcooked veggies & tofu underneath)
    Matt B.

One of the weakest veggie phos in Vancouver, made worse by a mismanaged SkipTheDishes order that took doubly as long as estimated. I needed some delivery lunch, so decided to go with their veggie pho ($15 plus tax, fees, etc.). Despite being told it'd take 40-50 minutes, it took over 90 minutes for my pho to arrive. Once it did, the soup was luke warm and the noodles all stuck together since they were packaged separately. The veggie were over-cooked and the broth was pretty uninspiring. 2 stars is generous.

    Beef stew soup

Everyone has their own way of making their broth soup. This wasn't mom cooking but it was okay. Very small tight place. Food is ordered at the counter and paid for. Then the lady will deliver your food to the table. My beef stew could of used more seasonings but it was comforting food. Seafood had a clear broth soup looked bland but to my surprise it had some flavor. Bowl was perfectly enough to fill you up. Took a order of pork baguette sandwich to go and had it the next day and it was still fresh to eat.

    Veggie Pho & Jackfruit Smoothie
    Dana S.

I often pass by this place and was curious, so I stopped in for dinner. It was empty except for occasional takeout when I showed up around 7, but I know I've seen it busier earlier in the day. The restaurant looks like a hole in the wall, but it was very very clean. Ordered the Veggie Pho and a Jackfruit Smoothie. The woman at the front was super nice and my food was ready quickly. The pho broth wasn't the most flavourful on its own, but the tofu was seasoned very nicely. There were lots of vegetables and everything seemed very fresh. It was decidedly NOT oily at all, which I really appreciated. The bowl was huge - I got pretty close to finishing both the pho and the smoothie but had to leave just a little bit of both, and I was super full. The smoothie was really good! Very vibrant flavour. Overall this was just about exactly what I was looking for: a quick and simple, healthy meal, and warm atmosphere. It's also pretty good value: $13.8 pho, $4.5 smoothie. Not anything to write home about but a place I'd recommend for a quick, simple pho fix, and I'd be interested in trying the banh mi too.

    Chicken pho, fresh chewy noodles!
    Christina L.

This is how things work here: 1. Walk straight to the cashier, order and pay in advance 2. Grab a seat and they will bring you your food The restaurant is small but clean and efficient. It was fairly quiet because most people were busy eating delicious noodles. :D I tried both the chicken pho and veggie pho. The quantity of the noodle is not huge so it's a good portion for lunch. The noodle texture was chewy and fresh, which was a good surprise to me. Don't expect large pieces of chicken though. This is mostly noodles. The broth is not too salty or sweet. The soup comes out hot enough to cook all the bean sprouts. The only bad part is that the carrots' texture was all wrong, kind of gross actually. I think they use frozen carrots. Oh and there's only sriracha at the table, no chili oil. The veggie spring rolls were not so good. It felt heavy and greasy, and I felt like they fried it in a general pot of oil that they use to fry other meats because the taste was a bit "mixed" and not in a good way. We also tried the grilled chicken and grilled beef baguettes one evening. The baguettes are quite big and satisfying. There is not much meat in it, but then each baguette is under $5 so you get what you pay for. The sauce on top of the meat is sweet and spicy. I like the spiciness but not the sweetness, but I think lots of people would enjoy it.

    Siu mai baguette

My friend insisted to come here for lunch as we were in the neighbourhood. I was not sure why she loved this Vietnamese restaurant so much as there were so many other options in downtown. Anyway, this was my second time here. I had pho last time, so I tried their combo (siu mai baguette and iced Vietnamese coffee) the baguette was crispy outside and soft inside but the sandwich was so light as a whole that I felt like I ate something but I was not full. Keep in mind that I am a small person but I still felt my stomach was not full by eating the baguette along with the iced Vietnamese coffee. The interior design is ok but not great. The service was okay. We ordered the food at the cashier and a server would bring the food to our table. I hope that I would not have to go back to this Vietnamese restaurant if my friend wantsto eat Vietnamese food again. ;-)

    Rare beef pho - Delicious
    Kate M.

One Saigon is a cute little joint on Hornby and a great easy go-to when you're in the downtown core. My mom and I were heading to see an early movie so we just wanted a quick bite. I love pho so I suggested this place as it's super close to the theatre. We went up to order our two rare beef pho #18. They brought out a big plate of sprouts, and Thai basil. They were missing lime which was unfortunate because I love it in my pho. The broth was delicious and they gave lots of beef! The only issue I had was the rice noodles were too stuck together in certain spots so it was hard to pick up and eat all in one mouthful. Nevertheless a really satisfying pho meal! I would go back

Delicious food for low price. I bought 2 Banhmi sandwiches for $8.50(chicken and beef) and they were good. Loving the crispy delicious goodness. Their sandwiches are big as the ones from Viet Sub. They accept interac aside from cash transactions. Be sure to check out their daily specials.

    $3.60 tofu salad roll
    Darryl P.

Purchased one $3.60 tofu salad roll 5:30pm on a weekday. Restaurant was half full and my order was ready in under 5 minutes. This establishment can be described as a small, Vietnamese style hole in the wall. Takeout items consisted of styrofoam clamshell container, one roll halved, one peanut sauce, napkin. The rolls offered a good balance of flavours and the inclusion of mint was welcomed. The key ingredient tofu was lacking. The rolls were fresh and paired well with the dipping sauce. The peanut sauce was dark and sweet with small crunchy peanut pieces. The sauce offered a nice consistency for dipping but the peanut flavor was lacking. The rolls offer a good value despite being more expensive than average. The larger than average rolls however suffered due to small portions of tofu ingredient. Would recommend 3 stars Ingredients: rice wrapper, rice noodles, lettuce, bean sprouts, mint, tofu, peanut sauce Rolls 408g

Place Order at counter & food is served at table when ready. Simple tidy decor. Does have WiFi contrary to Yelp listing.
    Yee Ping C.

The rice vermicelli with grilled chicken and roasted pork was ample in size and tasty. The seafood rice noodle soup was regular. All at a decent price. Definitely a nice quiet tiny shop for a simple meal. Has WiFi contrary to Yelp listing. Will return again.

Your preference will depend upon subtleties about noodle thickness and texture and broth flavors, but there is always, always a line in front of Ramen Danbo. A lot of it is probably due to hype or fame, but I have to admit that I think it does edge out the others in several ways. I think the noodles themself are more flavorful and more delicate. And I have to say the pork was extremely tender and flavorful. The egg was perfectly prepared, and the broth was perfectly seasoned to my desired spiciness level. They also do a great job searing their gyozas. Also got a piece of tempura spicy chicken - basically coated in shichimi and i think chili oil. This one was WAY too salty. They had a new yuzu drink which I also tried - too sweet, and for $5, total rip off. Considering the quality, their prices are on the high side. Paid parking was not too hard to find on the Main Street but during busy dining hours it might be difficult. We got seated right away at the bar since there were no tables open and the service was quick. Traditional Japanese style ambiance and even the bathroom had rounded Japanese bowl sink. As someone who doesn't have chicken broth (paitan style) ramen, I was really looking forward to the original ramen I ordered but I was a bit disappointed in the flavor profile of the dish. The ramen had both chasu and seaweed paired with thin round noodles. The broth was creamy and had a hint of chicken flavor but even adding several rounds of their soy sauce/salt seasoning they have on the side to adjust your broth to your liking-- I found that the richness of the soup was not what I had expected from the reviews that I read prior to coming here. Overall, a bit disappointed in the flavoring of the broth but maybe we came on an off day. I would be willing to give it a shot again in the future if I had ramen cravings and given that it was very affordable ($11-15 per bowl with tip), but I would probably opt to try another place first.

Review #3 for 2026 I…read morereally wanted to like this place. I watched many videos and read reviews before coming here, but it just did not hit the spot. After a cold day of exploring Stanley Park, we felt that ramen would really hit the spot, so we went here not wanting to deal with a wait at Danbo with a hungry and tired toddler. There was NO wait when we arrived here and we were seated immediately... which for a place that was really hyped up, should had made us think twice. There was only 1 other party at the restaurant. Now, the workers were super nice and the food came out quickly and we did eat everything because we were starving. We all ordered the cha-shu tamago ramen, 2 of us got spicy and 2 of us non-spicy. It came with extra chashu and the soft boiled egg for about $20 Canadian. The bowl was a good size and there was a promo for free extra noodles while we were there. Everyone except me in our group took advantage of it because I was too full from my bowl. Now, the broth here is different from other places because it is chicken based and not pork based. Everything I had seen about this place promised the broth is every bit just as good as the pork bone broth... however, the broth we received looked flavorful, but was bland. It was completely bland. There was no richness to it, not even a hint. I don't know, coming from southern California, the flavor just was not there period. We did all eat our food because we were starving, but it for sure did not hit the spot at all. Maybe we got an off day? Otherwise our broth had literally zero flavor to it. We all wished we had tried the other ramen place instead right after trying our ramen. Would I come back? I will have to say definitely no. We do not live in Vancouver and I do not want to waste any meals on a place that did not taste good the first time we went.

Beef Brisket and Beef Ball in Noodle Soup (Large $17.62) - again, VERY bland broth. The noodles also tasted sort of like freezer burn? Decent portion of meat and filling enough.
