Haven't been here in quite some time--my memories exceeded my most experience: Went there in a party of 14 for a birthday. Suffice it to say, significant money was spent on appetizers, drinks and dinner. Food was ok--nothing special. Drinks were weak. Service was awful. Wondering what warranted the expensive prices? Staff began to close down the restaurant at 10. We were not the only people left inside. Every single time I come here the waiter/waitress are extremely friendly and helpful. Their house margarita on the rocks is probably the best I've had in Orange County. The frozen is good too but it's better if it's on the rocks. The food is good, but after I while of coming here all I order now is their soup and salad and you get stuffed from all their options. We got a 2:00 reservation for Sunday brunch. We waited 20 minutes for a table. I told my wife that she better eat fast because I have a feeling that the buffet would be cleared away at 3 pm. Sure enough, two people came out at 3 o'clock and cleared away all the food in minutes. It was a rushed lunch which was fine for me since I eat fast. I'm sure the view is nicer at night but nothing spectacular during the day. There is a bunch of hastily placed rusty junk placed here and there. It might look like a mining company for a 5 year old. I thought their service was below par. People should not wait 20 minutes for a reservation and then be rushed to eat like a wolf before the food is taken away. We are fairly certain we got the 2nd class treatment because of the Groupon we used. We will never come back here even with a Groupon. I am surprised this place is still in business. The view was spectacular at this restaurant, and the hostess very friendly. The Rib eye steak was excellent along with the side dishes. One small item, however, the liquor selection is somewhat limited. The wine selection I found to be better in other restaurants, and our server asked me if I wanted my scotch served a particular way and then brought me something different. Had dinner through a finance company last night. Steak dinner. Sit down dinner for around 60 people. Food was cold, thought steak was "roast beef" vs. filet, and potatoes hard. This restaurant has been a go to place for my family for birthdays, grandma and grandpa visiting in town, and family brunch etc. Their food is really good and reasonably priced and the service is always wonderful! It is dark at night and beautiful city light views however good for family with kids too! I loved the salad bar as everything was fresh, there was a variety of salads like pasta salad, beets, nuts, toppings, different dressings, and a variety of soups. We got a reservation just one hour before heading to the restaurant, so we didn't have to wait to be seated. The soup/salad bar was filling enough, so my wife and I were only able to finish half of our main courses before boxing the rest. I loved that the fillet is offered with 2 extra preparations....I chose to wrap it in bacon and smother it with mushrooms, but there were many other choices worth exploring next time. The wife had shrimp and scallops with pilaf....we were both happy and satisfied with the food and service. They have a good drink and wine list too. I booked my wedding here and it turned out great. The venue is beautiful, exactly what we wanted, perfect actually! And my guests thought it was much more expensive than it really was. Very reasonably priced and seems like a pricey affair but not in a stuck up way. Angela and Jenny are very helpful and responsive, Jose ran the night smoothly. We couldn't be happier and more impressed. We will be here for each anniversary to relive our special night. Also got comments and enjoyed the great food myself. Wedding food is often not great, but it is at the OC Mining Company. The decorations were just lovely, and all the vendors they recommended (DJ, Photographer) were awesome. I brought my friend here for their birthday. I had never been but could see it from my house and was always curious. 1) I made my reservation online but the only option was 9pm which was too late, so I called the day of and asked to have an earlier reservation which was accommodated no problem. I appreciated that. 2) we got a table with a spectacular view! I mean, more than half the appeal to come here was the view and it was awesome. We saw the Disneyland fireworks going off in the distance, super cool. 3) service was above standard. Not too on top of you, yet not feeling forgotten, it was just right, and everyone we encountered was very friendly and nice. 4) food was great. I had the Mahi Mahi, and it was wonderful. My guest had the NY steak, cooked perfectly. We had the calamari appetizer, on the small side, but tasted great. With that and the salad/soup bar we were rightfully stuffed. This restaurant looked great in the photos, however I found it to be dirty and dingy. The carpeting was dirty and worn and the chairs felt sticky and dirty. Yes, it's historical, but no literature on the history. Have you thought about having a gift shop? The food was mediocre and the salad bar was just so so. I was very disappointed. Starting from worst to best, the worst was the food, which I would give a one or a two. There was quite a wide variety, which was nice. It wasn't terrible, but the hot food was etiher bland, lukewarm and/or cold. Some of it was pretty tasty, but it wasn't worth $26 per person. I'd rather go to Norm's and just get a nice omelet. Go to the omelet bar and get them to make you an omelet. That might resolve the "hot" problem. If I had paid $26 per person for that brunch, I would be pretty upset. We had coupons from Groupon that allowed us buy buy one, get one free. Still, even at $13 per person, I've eaten at better brunch buffets that were cheaper. And maybe it was the Groupon coupon that caused the problem. There were a lot of people there trying to take advantage of the 2 for 1 special. There were so many people taking food at the buffet tables and not closing the lids that the food was probably being allowed to cool down. This also made the place too crowded. When we came in to announce our arrival (we had made reservations) we were told there would be a wait. The line was actually pretty long, and someone yelled at us to move the line over. Kind of strange that at a place where they would charge that much for food that they would be yelling at people to move the line over. The decor was pretty dark. It felt old-fashioned and dingy. They should brighten it up with light colors. The service was very good. The waitress came by frequently with champagne and coffee refills. They cleared our table of dishes as soon as we got up to get more servings. They were cheerful and polite. The view was the best aspect of this dining experience. I think that no matter where you sit in the restaurant, you will have a spectacular view. Would I come back? Probably not. It's not worth the drive or the money. read more

Fiancé and I went there for their special Valentines Dinner. Rather than have a nice quiet dinner where we could enjoy the food and view, we got what felt like a High School Prom. We were surprised to find that our dinner included loud music played by a DJ, a buffet with sub par food, terrible wine, and even a prom picture booth. As a 30 year old professional this was not what I wanted for a VDay dinner. The view is fantastic, the wait staff was pleasant (service was average) but beyond that I couldn't see how this ended up being as costly as it was. My husband and I wanted to have some good prime rib for our 10 year anniversary and chose to come to the Orange County Mining Co. We were so glad we did! The prime rib was perfectly cooked and so tasty. The price was very reasonable and even came with the salad bar, which had a large selection. My favorite part of the salad bar was actually the soups! My favorite server is Leah because she is always attentive and her recommendations have never disappointed. Your drink will always be filled and she will make sure you are satisfied with your food. What a great experience compared to last time we came here! Our waiter Jason was awesome. We were a party of 5 and everyone's meals and request for service was handled flawlessly. Me and my husband came here for our anniversary. We both ordered a martini to celebrate. I would give 3 stars for the food, and 5 stars for the view. When we paid our bill my husband noticed a fee for mixing our drinks. Really on top of very overpriced drinks they add this fee. I talked to the financial manager and she said that she did not know about this charge..I told her I wanted the general manager to call me back. I am still waiting. When restaurants start putting these silly charges on the tab all it does is stop me from coming back. I will not be back! Also no more free parking it is all valet 7.00. Next thing they will charge a cooking fee and a serving fee. read more

This was my first time here the other night, and it was awesome!! I had the rib eye steak and it was cooked exactly as I like. Mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables were very good with the meal. The wine was pretty good for the price as well. Everything was very nice, and the service was excellent. Actually, there was a very nice gentlemen, I believe was by the name of Jake. I went with my family for Easter brunch and needless to say I was very disappointed. We had reservations for 11 and when we arrived they said that they were running behind, without giving an estimated time. They said that we could hang out in the bar if we liked. After about 30 mins they seated us. The server asked if we had been there and we replied no and then did not give us a rundown of the buffet. Also apparently there is a rule where if u have a drink already your not allowed to have the mimosas that come with the brunch until you finish your original drinks. The seating was extremely cramped and it was hard for all tables to get out of their seats. I could keep going on and on but the just of it is that I will not be returning. read more
