I've tried the location in Santa Clara once and super loved it! So, I knew I had to come visit this new location, and especially since it's pretty close to home! We ordered the fried tofu and golden taro salted egg yolk balls! Both super yummy and hot out the oven or stove. The egg yolk balls were only half cooked though and the yolk inside was too runny instead of hardened. :( Service took a bit long too, which almost made us late to picking up my son from school. Would've given a 4 stars because of the og location, but this location needs some more work. read more

Today I turn on yelp to see if there is anything new in the hood and I found this place ... This spot used to be a Filipino restaurant. I come to this mall all the time. When this spot was in construction I thought another Filipino restaurant is coming. Literally was here a few weeks wash my giant comforter Low and behold it's a taiwanese Boba with bento box. I decided to stop by and grab a bento. And it turns out there is promotion for free Boba tea. The bento packaging looks sharp. Got 4 banchan as well. Portions are ok. Not as much as the others a couple blocks away. Still o think this place is more focus on the drinks. That's higher margins. The bento was good. I'm not a Boba guy but hey its free, so it's damn good. The place was packed today. Saturday around 1pm. I think I will stop by and try the other bento. Right by Dixon landing 880 so it's very convenient to come and pickup something and hop back on the highway. read more

We ordered the salmon and soy sauce chicken bentos along with fried mushroom and giant squid snacks to go. My favorite was the chicken; there were one large chicken and one small chicken leg for protein - perfect for sharing. The veggies on the bentos, however, were not memorable. I did like the crunchy cucumbers though. The salmon appeared to be pan-fried - which tasted dry when I had my bento two days later. The mushrooms were unfortunately oily, and the squid didn't have that charcoal taste. I If I go back, I would get the soy sauce chicken again. I liked how my order was ready for pickup when I arrived. Yes, the restaurant was located in a parking lot with tiny parking spaces. A word of caution for parking in that lot. read more

Solidly 3.5 star place. We stopped in and ordered two bentos to go. Chicken Leg - small portion; flavor was good. Fried chicken steak - huge portions, great crispy crust and flavoring. This is a winner. The side dishes were so so; a bunch of vegetarian items; sauteed cabbage with ham (not a huge fan of mushy ham chunks), broccoli, raw daikon slices (weird since it wasn't pickled), and this strange yellow pickled vegetable. Presentation was great; if the sides were a bit more flavorful or wasn't just plain vegetables or raw daikon I think I might bump it up to a solid 4 stars. The fried chicken steak one was a solid 4 star. read more

Every Wednesday is Orange Day, where the Grilled Chicken Leg Square is only $9.99! I've gotten it twice and the chicken is always so well seasoned and tender. The veggies and side dishes vary everyday so I like to call ahead to see what's on the menu for that day :) The veggies and side dishes taste very fresh and clean. Still tasty and seasoned, but not drenched in oil. During prime lunch and dinner times, the wait can get pretty long, but the staff were really nice, apologetic, and calm. Inside is modern, clean, and casual. There are about 10 small tables for seating. Highly recommend! They have other options besides the grilled chicken leg that I'll have to try one day :) read more

So far I've only had their drinks. On that front, I'd call this place a mixed bag. I've ordered their Black / Oolong Milk Tea a couple times and they tasted perfectly fine -- pretty standard, but properly made and basically good. But then I tried their Thai Tea, which tastes exactly like the stuff you'd find at Asian supermarkets -- generic, and overly sweetened to the point of being gross. This seemed odd, given that I specified the lowest sugar on the ordering kiosk, but it turns out the question is fake -- the drink really is just cheap pre-mixed formula (and probably powdered), so they can't adjust anything; they just dishonestly imply they can. I felt a bit ripped off. read more

We ordered popcorn chicken, pot roast beef, and boneless grilled teriyaki chicken. All 3 were great and also made with fresh ingredients. Our very favorite was the drinks. Taiwanese appetizers, bentos, and milk tea! I've tried many of their milk teas and they are good though nothing special. I love their beef & bean curd mix cold appetizer. It also has seaweed, tofu, mushrooms, cabbage, and half an egg in it. The taste is marinated fully into each ingredient and it's salty while refreshing to eat. I also like their fried tofu, but I especially like the dipping sauce that comes with it. For bentos, I've tried the pork belly bento, pork chop bento, salmon bento (not in photos), and chicken leg bento (also not in my photos). Overall I enjoyed the salmon one the most. Either way, Orange Square is on my go-to list of Taiwanese bentos in the bay, besides O2 Valley and Chopstix. read more

This Orange Square location is in a small strip plaza with a shared parking lot. I have been to their other location in Santa Clara and it was decent. It is a bit more bright, clean, and modern on the interior compared to their other location. I ordered ahead of time, so my boba and food was ready by the time I arrived. Anyway, I wanted to try out their new location to get their grilled chicken and green milk tea here - out of pure coincidence, I went on a Wednesday when they have a special for their 'Orange Day' and I was able get their Grilled Chicken Leg Square (Bento) for $9.99, which is a few dollars cheaper than it usually is. I also ordered their Boba Jasmine Green Milk Tea as well. It was raining hard the day I came, so I decided to check my order after snapping a few photos before leaving, which I was glad I did because I took one sip of my boba and knew they made the wrong drink, since it was bitter and strong. Even though the label on the cup was correct to what I ordered, which was a jasmine milk tea, what I got was some sort of black milk tea instead. The service was not the best from the employees behind the counter, but I believe it was the owner or manager who was cleaning/sweeping the lobby - she apologized and asked one of the employees to remake my drink. I am just glad I tried my drink before leaving the shop because it was raining very badly that night and I would not had been able to come back, if I left before trying my drink. The jasmine milk tea did not taste the best, as it tasted a bit watered down - it was also not as creamy as I would had liked it, but it was on the more bitter side. The chicken bento box was such a disappointment - I felt like it was falsely advertised, it had the grilled chicken leg and rice, but it came with a bunch of random side dishes that looked like they just had available, not like any of their ads/photos, which I was looking forward to and drove 30 minutes out just for this. Also, the box/tray was not that strong, as the juices from the chicken leg and probably condensation was going through the paper box, which made a mess. This was definitely a waste of money and time. read more

I only got the take out. Was excited about having a sister store in Milpitas so we don't have to travel farther to eat at this place. I actually really enjoyed the food here but it was all quite heavy. My husband wasn't a huge fan of the pork bento because it was very thinly sliced and breaded. I really liked the flavor - it was marinated and then deep fried. I got the beef stew and beef tendon bento which was pretty good - but due to the tendon being very fatty again the whole meal was quite heavy. Finally shout out to the yam fries with the plum powder - quite tasty! read more

We went to this restaurant around 7:10pm on a weeknight, and we were the only ones there. Right after we ordered and sat down, they started putting chairs on tables, mopping the floor, and taking out the trash from the kitchen while we were still eating, even though the sign on the door said they closed at 8:00pm. They were basically rushing us out. Recommendation to the owner: if you don't want to work the last hour of your operations, don't take new orders two hours before closing!! We ended up finishing our food in the car. Not cool! Also, I ordered a watermelon drink, but the chunks were so big you couldn't drink it with a straw. read more

My cowoker had picked up the spicy chicken cutlet bento box from Orange Square for me last week and it was delicious! The spicy chicken was juicy, flavor and crunchy. I didn't care much for the sides besides the meatball, that was very tasty meatball. Portion was generous, I only ate half of it and was stuffed. Majorly slow wait if you order anything other than their standard B1 square - we waited over 1 hour for squares that weren't B1, while everyone else got theirs. Spoiler alert: the food is not worth even a 30 minute wait. It sounds like they prioritize what's easy, and not by first orders in, based on ours and others' experiences (employee telling us other dishes take longer to prep and therefore in queue after all the other easy orders) during opening week. The employees have no clue about any wait times either, just stating "it isn't ready yet" to every customer's enquiry. When we finally asked for a refund, our squares were miraculously ready and brought out. Funny how that happens huh? So surprised the owner/manager wasn't aware of all the frustrated customers - never made an appearance to help the employees who were getting heat up front. Hopefully they get through their growing pains quickly, otherwise there are tons of other great spots in Milpitas to check out. read more

I can tell from the quality of food, decor, cleanliness, and environment that a lot of thought was put into this restaurant. The food was incredible - very fresh and tasty. I was short on time so cooking from scratch was not an option. I remember bookmarking this place so I decided to give it a try. I placed my order through the self service kiosk machine and it was quite simple. I ordered 2 braised chopped pork rice bowls, golden egg yolk taro balls, coffee milk tea w/boba (half sugar) and the classic milk tea w/boba (half sugar). In terms of flavor, it was just ok. The pork had a light soy sauce flavor to it but it lacked umami flavor. The broccoli and carrot that came with the rice was bland. No comment on the egg since I gave mine to my daughter. The fried taro ball was good but after a few bites, it started to become heavy and greasy. As for the drinks, my coffee milk tea lacked coffee flavor. However, my daughter's milk tea had the perfect tea flavor. The boba was chewy but it wasn't sweet. We arrived around lunch time on a Tuesday and the parking lot was full. read more

Amazing. But the standout menu item, everyone, is the Salmon Shimeji. Oh, I love it so much. So savory. Little chunks of salmon, with roe, dainty little mushrooms, and all kinds of other ingredients perfectly cooked blended. A sauce that warms your soul and makes you want to keep eating. I honestly wish I could describe it better, but ironically, my favorite dish in the entire Bay Area is so good that I can't describe it. You'll just have to try it yourself. However, the ingredients are fresh and the salmon is good. They used spaghetti pasta to make this dish and there are baby fish eggs and tall, small mushrooms called shimeji. I wasn't really too full at the end, but this is good news since I don't have to feel tired. One of the staff asked me if I can look at their desserts and I did. However, I didn't get any of them since I'm trying to cut back on my eating. This was quite the experience I have here. The authentic Taiwanese flavor of the dishes, especially the $9.99 Wednesday special, was a delightful surprise. The portions were just right, and the side dishes were perfectly seasoned. I'll definitely be back for this amazing deal! While they have a kiosk, I had to order at the register for the special promo, but it was a minor inconvenience. I also ordered Oolong Milk Tea, and for a place not specializing in teas, it was surprisingly good. The attention to detail, even in their packaging (check out the photo), adds a nice touch. They make it very good and fulfilling compared to elsewhere. Egg custard tarts are usually $2 each, but it was buy 1 get 1 free today, so I got double the value. Huge tarts! Love them very much. Cocktail buns and pineapple buns are always fresh and big. Good recipe. I usually come for large box of chow mein or chow fun noodles too. Porridge is always excellent in taste. This is one of the most convenient and hardworking locations with great women employees staffing full day. I really got to know each person personally over the years. Great service over the counter for such busy atmosphere with limited time to get hydrated or breathe. I hope this place keeps up because newer generations want newer and cleaner places. Overall, very authentic and decent for Chinese dim sum items and good tasting bread buns.

We got the Japanese tofu sizzling plate, chongqing style spicy noodles, and achoy sautéed in garlic. The Japanese tofu was definitely our favorite of our meal. It came out sizzling on a plate and each piece of tofu was silky soft inside with a savory and umami sauce on the outside. Perfectly balanced and seasoned. The chongqiing noodles were okay - tasted fine but didn't blow us away. I thought it would be spicier and more numbing but it wasn't too spicy. The noodle texture was normal and the flavor felt like it could use something more. The achoy with garlic was good although I personally felt it could use a little more garlic. The staff do walk around and so you can flag someone down if you need someone. They won't bother you much during your meal. No American Express accepted here, only visa and Mastercard. Overall, it was good and we'd certainly come again for the tofu, but it didn't feel outstanding in total.

The beef was super tender. It was slow cooked and oh my goodness the thick sauce, which was really nice and comforting, coated the noodles and made the soup pretty hearty. The lamb noodle soup was also really filling but because it had a more subtle flavor it was really nice and made you wanna keep going for more. The dumplings were the best, super crunchy in the best way and just fun and easy to eat. Everything was beyond what I expected and the portions were really big. The staff was really nice and keeping everything really fresh. Everything was nice and really casual which I really liked. I'm gonna be coming back to try a ton of the noodle soups for sure.

There aren't many (any) Henan restaurants in Bay Area so this is a good addition to the mix of cuisines we get here. The restaurant is clean and cozy and service is attentive (the waitress walked me through their whole menu). Both dishes we ordered have flat wheat based noodles in it. The braised noodles soup feels a bit like Pan Mee from South East Asia except the soup from the steak (more like beef ribs) is super tasty deep beef broth (no hint of msg which is good). The big beef plate reminds me a bit of the Peruvian stir fry with the sliced and fried potatoes. What a great find and a great opportunity to try out Henan food. Will definitely come back again to try other dishes. Btw we were here on a weekday and the place is full!

Unfortunately, my meal didn't have the tomato eggs stir fry nor same veggie options from the image. Instead, it was substituted with canned corn/beans/hash brown which tasted a bit sour or expired/mold taste and cabbage with vermicelli mix. It even came with an egg (I wouldn't have purchased another egg for $1.99 if I knew this meal came with an egg). More calories and carbohydrates. Totally different than the pictures/a bit disappointed. Plus, the chicken was so old/dry/tasted like it's been in a crockpot for days. This bento box surprised me today. Menu selections are decent though. Again, More Than Bento just set a different impression for my lunch appetite. I would likely go elsewhere for a much better bento box fix in future. Room for improvement. The sour/moldy taste of the canned veggies was not what I planned to eat in public. It's a good spot for new/young people or teenagers/afterschool meals, but it didn't meet my dining expectations. Food portions are huge though. Each experience may be different.
