This is a perfectly fine breakfast spot close to our apartment. We've been for breakfast/brunch a few times, and we've always had impeccable service. The employees are friendly and courteous, coffee is kept refilled, and service is prompt. It's 5 stars for service. The food isn't great, but it's solidly okay. I think I like Orchard Cafe more for weekend hangover brunch, because then the food tastes like a gift from the gods. We went for breakfast yesterday and it was kind of a letdown. I'm sure it was exactly the same as before, but it had lost that magical quality that I remembered from previous visits. I had a spinach, mushroom, and cheddar omelette with rye toast, home fries, and a side of bacon. The omelette was a little too greasy for my liking, and the home fries seemed more like smashed up hash brown. My husband got the hashbrown with his breakfast and it looked exactly the same as the ones they serve at McDonalds. Overall, service is amazing. Hands down some of the friendliest service I've received anywhere. This was such a nice little restaurant! It gave me diner vibes but it's really small. I liked how the cooks rings the bell when a dish is ready to be taken to a table. It reminded me of how diners used to be back in the day. The staff was super friendly and nice! I am happy they provided crayons and a sheet of activities to do while we wait. I wasn't expecting that because most small places don't provide that. I witnessed a very old couple (bless their hearts) that could barely walk come inside of the restaurant and one of the servers quickly greeted them at the door, grabbed their hands and assisted them to the table. How sweet!! You can tell this a place that is frequented often by the community and this will be a place that will be frequented by my daughter and I now. The prices are just right for the amount of food you get. I was quite surprised at how hearty the meals were, even the kids meals. I had the Cajun tilapia meal and it was great but needed a little more flavor. My daughter had pancakes, eggs and turkey bacon. Delish!!!! I will be ordering that next time! They have THE best turkey bacon here!!! It was nice a crispy with great flavor!! I really wanted to like this place more, honestly I did :-(. I just moved to the area, and am in search of a great inexpensive place to get breakfast when I wake up on Sunday and don't feel like cooking. I searched yelp and came across this cafe. It's a cute restaurant next to a Food Lion. I arrived at about 7:30am Sunday morning, so there were only a few other customers. You seat yourself. The staff was incredibly friendly and helped me right away. I ordered the Greek veggie omelet with a side of home fries and wheat toast. I was asked if I wanted onions with my home fries...which maybe should have clued me in, because in my opinion they aren't home fries if they aren't cooked with onions! Coffee was okay, but nothing to write home about. And I really hate paying $2.10 for coffee when I only drink one or maybe one and a half cups, and I know it cost them less than a quarter to make it LOL. Meal itself was just under $8.00 so not too bad for what I got. Food came quickly. I was disappointed to see that the home fries weren't very crispy, and the onions were sauteed thinly sliced rings in a little pile on top of the potatoes. So no onion flavor cooked into the home fries. No seasoning either, so a pretty big disappointment. The omelet was a good size, and had a lot of fillings (although if it had feta it was too small of an amount for me to taste). It was super hot, like burn your tongue hot, which I found kind of strange. The wheat toast was 2 slices of thick bread, and was actually pretty good. I was asked if I wanted refills on my coffee several times, and my bill came promptly. While I was there, they brought out a cake and sang happy birthday to another customer, which was sweet. Bottom line, the restaurant is cute and clean and the staff was great, but I'm all about the potatoes when it comes to breakfast, and those disappointed. It looked like they also had hash browns as an option on the menu, so I might go back again if I can't find somewhere else I like better, and see if they are crispy :-). read more

Waited 50 mins for order after being told 20 mins. Sausage tasted like it was microwaved, tasted like the brand that's in the yellow box. The sausage and gravy was a watery mess. Stopped by this place based on a good review by a close friend. Went with my son - and we left after 10 minutes. We walked in to a very small crowded establishment. The staff was polite but very busy and rushed. My som and I stood near the door for nearly 10 minutes before an elderly couple arriving told us that it was self seating. The staff walked past often and never mentioned that small fact. Upon finding an empty table we sat another 5 mi utes looking the previous occupants trash. They get to know you and make you feel like family. They're nice, attentive, and very friendly. We went in for brunch on a Friday morning. The sign up front said to wait to be seated, so we waited for someone to come greet us. We waited for a full 30 minutes with no one coming to check in on us or tell us when we can expect to be seated. At least three tables were available for us to be seated at, but no one came to seat us or even address us. As we were waiting, we could see other tables orders coming in at different times with multiple customers waiting on service or trying to get the attention of the servers. When we finally stopped a server to ask when we could be seated (30 minutes after entering and no communication from anyone), she rudely informed us that the kitchen was backed up and "you'll just have to sit at the table waiting for your food, so we'll just seat you when we can give you food" and walked away. We obviously didn't stay and hope they can improve their customer service! read more

Definitely the place to go for good fast breakfast with order just right. Forgot to check in while i was there but anywho... Asked my friend girl out for breakfast and she suggested this spot. Seems To be family owned and operated with a diversified staff. Small restaurant info a strip mall that if you don't luck up or you are told about it you could miss it. It is self seating diner style which is cool. So if it is a lot of folks in your group you need to get there early as seats fill up quickly. Staff was pretty friendly and efficient for whatever you ask for. I have been going to this place for about 3 or 4 years and a little before the pandemic, it started going downhill. I'm not sure what happened but it has been a slow steady decline. We continued to eat here on multiple occasions in hopes that each experience was just a "bad day." Today, was our last time eating here. The service was subpar (no asking if we need anything and we did), the restaurant isn't as clean as it used to be, the food is good but no longer great. The final straw though was finding three strands of hair in my daughter's french fries. I did not get a picture of the first french fry that had a white/gray hair standing up from it but I did get a picture of the other two fries. It completely spoiled my appetite. Unfortunately, my daughter had already eaten some fries so who knows how many hairs she actually consumed. Now, I'm not so naïve to think that food in a restaurant doesn't have hair in it. I know that it does, but, I don't want to see it. I can and have coped with one hair but three is over the top and too much. I won't be coming back. read more

First of all, I just want to be clear that this review is not on the food. I really wanted to give it a try but this is focused more on the service. This was our first time here and we went on a Saturday morning. We pulled up to this place and we noticed that the place was pretty packed. There were a couple tables that seated about 8 people that were occupied by a couple people. So we waited by the door to be told/asked "how many people in our party and to get our name." We just sat and waited and kind of observed the waiters. There were more people coming in now and waiting. I would say that our total wait time was about 15-20mins before deciding to leave. During that time the staff never spoke to us. We overheard that they were short on staff which explains the slower service. We also heard from the other people in line that you seat yourself. This would have been nice to know since this was our first time. We looked at the other tables to see if people were finishing up and there were some that looked like they've been done for a while and I initially thought that they were just taking their time and hanging out but a person from the table said that they asked for the check about 15 mins ago and still waiting. At that point I didn't want to wait any longer. We were getting a little impatient and hungry. If a member of the staff would've just asked us if we've been here before and told us it was seat yourself and that it may take some time.... I would've waited. It was just uncomfortable for me. A couple things that I saw also was that a small table got their food and then they had to ask for silverware and one of the waiters was probably a little overwhelmed by the amount of people and lack of staff that he was just aimlessly walking around refilling coffee. I understand that the combination of having a lot of customers, being short on staff, dealing with people's orders, preparing food and clearing tables can be a little difficult to manage but I would have just liked to see a little bit better customer service. They say first impressions are everything and ours wasn't the best. It may take some time before we decide to come back and give this place a chance again. read more
