Man what a hidden little gem. Its a small place with no parking, good luck trying to find any but thats city life right haha. But this place has enough seating surprising to accommodate a few small parties. Lots of options of snack foods to try. The Philly cheese steak was great and the wings were flawless. This is my favorite wing place in the city. The only thing I love more than the wings are the fries. That said, they have recently switched their fries from the hand cut to those battered "crispy" fries that everyone else has and they are the worst. Please bring back the hand cut fries. Where Tradition Meets Flavor. My boyfriend, who is a California native, moved to Texas 7 yrs ago. He has always mentioned that through his child hood, Original Buffalo Wings was a family favorite. So of course, we had to stop by during our visit to SF, and I now see why this spot has been around since the late 1980s-- the food is genuinely good. The buffalo sauce is classically... buffalo... but better haha. It's also amazing that the sauce seems to go with everything. It's perfectly spicy and tangy without being overpowering. By recommendation, We even ordered a side of it for our chips, and it was a game-changer. IDK why we had never thought to order the frys or chips with some sauce to accompany them. Even the buffalo sauce mushrooms was unexpectedly delicious. Obviously the buffalo wings were good. Despite the food being amazing I have to say that the best part of our visit here was the look on my boyfriend's face--pure nostalgia and satisfaction. It's moments like these that make revisiting places like Original Buffalo Wings special. Service was excellent too. The cashier, Mel, was incredibly sweet and made sure we were well taken care of. I'm in town for the week and this is across the street from my hotel. I have already eaten here twice. Even took a friend with me today! Last night they were about to close but still took my order. Terrible wings I got the lemon pepper and they were dry,oily in the wrong ways,little to no seasoning,and had a really dark chicken meat taste. I also got the garlic fries and they were mushy,soggy,very starchy and overall just terrible awful off putting flavors.definitely the worst wings and fries I have ever had in the city and my life do not recommend the wings or garlic fries. I ordered a beef Philly steak and garlic fries and two orders of mild buffalo wings. The steak was minimal on the sandwich, would not order again. Fries were OK. The mild buffalo wings were not mild in fact, after I had consumed a few wings my mouth felt like I had been given Novacaine. Out of a total of 15 wings they were two drumsticks, and the chicken was dry and did not taste fresh. Original Buffalo Wings was my first Buffalo wing experience, so, pretty much everything else I have had since is compared to these. When I first had Buffalo wings from here in the mid-nineties, the wings were bursting with flavor. I had never experienced them before and Original Buffalo Wings got me hooked. Stepping back in today was eye-opening. The menu has expanded by quite a bit from what I remember... and now there are many more flavors than the original spicy flavor. I didn't deviate from what I wanted so I just went for the original spicy. They weren't as much of a flavor bomb as I remember, but I have to be realistic and know that my taste buds have changed over the years. They've been through shock and awe so I'll never had that first experience of Buffalo wings again... but that's ok. I'd have to say that the Buffalo sauce here is still excellent. The taste is what I remember and it has a perfect tanginess. I also got a side order of their house made chips that they fry right there and then. They came out really hot and crisp. I was in heaven! The only gripe I have is that the service here is pretty slow. I came during a dead time in the middle of the afternoon and I still had to wait about 20-25 minutes for my order. I can only comment on the wings. Although, why would you order anything else at this location?. Ordered a 25 piece wing with fries. I am a fan because the wings are smaller than most drumsticks which allows for the sauce to be evenly distributed in all wing pieces. I did not have one piece where I felt like it was missing sauce. In addition, I feel that the smaller pieces allow for the chicken to be crispy. As far as the chips, you can tell they are house made. Slightly a bit greasy bag downside but the flavor is great. They are crispy, variety of pieces and a lot in a bag. The dipping sauces we got were ranch and blue cheese. The fries are thick enough that we actually were dipping the wing sauce with the dipping sauce. I would definitely come back here for wings, the only downside is that the location is the complete opposite side of town for me. Try it out! read more

I've been coming here for years and try to stop by when I'm in the area (which isn't all that often, maybe once a year). My latest trip was a few weeks ago for an early lunch. I came in around 11:00 AM, and the place wasn't that busy (only a couple of people in the dining room). I noticed that the menu was redone, but was sad to see that there weren't any "combo" deals available. Instead, I had to order everything a la carte. While it's not a huge deal, it's a little bit of a pain, since my normal order was always 9 bone-in (classic) wings with the housemade chips and a soda. I put in my order and sat down at a table. About 15 minutes later, one of the servers brought my food. While the menu and the restaurant decor have changed, the food is the same that I remember for the last decade. The wings are on the smaller side, but they are cooked well-done with a very crispy skin. This time, I ordered them with teriyaki sauce, which was very thick and sweet. The chips were also very thinly cut and very crispy. If you like you wings super meaty, then this isn't the place for you. I don't have any experience trying any of these other items, like their burgers or ribs or salads(!). Here, I'm a sucker of habit and get the same thing every time. I went here looking for good chicken strips not the only place I was aware of with good ones, Hillstone, took them off the menu. My response overall was meh, but this is a buffalo wings place and expecting their plain chicken strips to be good is asking a lot. The bacon with the cheese fries was cooked great and the cheese fries were fine, so I'll give them 4 stars. That said, I wouldn't go here for their standard chicken strips/chicken tenders. Anyway, we stopped on our way back from Crissy Field because we wanted something cheap and decadent. We went full gusto and ordered the $15.25 Double Dozen - 26 wings between us, yes, 26 (see photo). It wasn't as gluttonous as you think since they are on the small side, but Jamie went to town and ordered four different flavors - Mild, Original Spicy, Teriyaki, Spicy Teriyaki - which basically meant unearthly shades of orange and brown glaze were lacquered on the wings. They were OK, nothing that special nor offensive. I honestly more enjoyed the complimentary carrot and celery sticks with the ranch dressing and even the $1.75 pile of fries (see photos). That was a lot even for us, but now we can check this one off the list. I am surprised that this place received so many poor ratings. Due to poor Yelp reviews, I avoided this place for the longest time, until I realized that there really aren't too many places in SF for me to satisfy my Buffalo wing cravings. I am not from New York and do not claim to be a wings expert, but I have dined at the famous wing restaurants in Buffalo, NY, and other excellent wing restaurant around the country. I felt that OBW was pretty close to the real thing. It is certainly good enough to satisfy my fix and DEFINITELY 10X better than wings at Hooters. They used high temperature oil so wings were crispy (not soggy) and most importantly, it was not breaded. Sauce was nice and spicy --- not the best, but pretty good. I liked their specials: #1) 9 Wings with Chips or Fries and Soda ($7.25) #4) Buffalo dozen with Chips or Fries and Soda ($8.95) PARKING: 3 free parking spaces --- facing Lombard Street. P.S. The location is pretty convenient as there really aren't many other wing spots in the area (aside from Avelino's). Decent amount of seats. And the service is good. I called in advance and the wings were ready as expected. Now the wings themselves aren't that great. They're pretty small and overly saucy. I'm more of a dry guy myself when it comes to wings. They come in a tray and I'm assuming it's straight from the oven like that. Overall everything here is pretty bland (wings and fries) but if you really want some wings it's worth checking out.
