I have been a customer here since they opened. They used to get your items done in 2 days. I brought in pants to be taken in on Thursday morning which I needed done by Saturday night. They charged me an extra $5.00. I am on a fixed income and did not appreciate that. The staff did not care I was a long time customer. I sent them 3 friends who became customers over the years. I went to Original Hems Studio to get a bridesmaid dress tailored to fit me. The dress was originally too long and slightly too big in the corset. They took measurements to reduce the length & tighten the corset. When I went to pick up my dress it fit me absolutely perfectly, I was so amazed and happy with their work. Not only that but the people who work here are extremely kind and welcoming. My mom got two pairs of pants hemmed here & they fit her perfectly after as well. Not only that but the total cost for her two pairs of pants was $15. My dress was more expensive (around $150) because it's a lot of material to work through but I think the results were well worth the cost. I highly recommend this place, they are professionals at what they do, very friendly and cost efficient. I will definitely be back! read more

This place must have the worst customer service and tailor around the area. Do not go to them. They do a horrible job on their stitching and they can't even stitch a straight line. I had a patch sewn on to the rear middle of my pants and they were not able to stitch it right. I had to return 3 times and none of those times where they correct. Then the so-called manager supervisor didn't want to correct the error. He refused to try and correct it again. Even more the last time I went there they even stitched over the label which was nowhere near the patch area. Furthermore I've had them do stitching on the bottom of my pants and they came off after about a wash or two. Don't get any patches or ham your pants there. If I could I would give them 0 stars I would. they do not take pride in their work or the people that come in. Again this is the worst place I've ever come to specially when it comes to their work and Customer Service. They really don't give a damn they just want your money!!!! read more

I bought a jumpsuit for my grandmother's funeral and though it was the right size, it was way too big. The smaller size wasn't available anywhere and I had my heart set on wearing this because it is fierce, like my grandmother. Original Hems to the rescue! I brought in my 4 jeans to get hem. Each of them costed $4.95 when it should have been $2. What am i missing here? I had 2 jeans with holes patched up with $5 quoted and i paid $6. There's still holes on the jeans as if they were never fixed:( Its not even about the price. Its about the principle. The store is known for a $2 hem. I went in today with my daughter. We needed to have her skirts for school hemmed, as they were too long ( below the knee ). The dress code is slightly above the knee, but most girls do not follow the rule. When deciding the length, my daughter was having a meltdown ( blame it on puberty & hormones ) bc she wanted them shorter. Easy peasy! I brought my jeans, quickly changed into them in one of their many dressing rooms, a gal quickly pinned them up on one side, I paid $4.95 and left with a receipt. I returned a few days later and my jeans were hemmed perfectly. So much easier and less tthan hemming them myself especially at such an affordable price! Update: I used them again to hem three more jeans. This time the cost was only $2.95 each! At first I thought they were holding a sale, but they explained that because these were skinny style jeans that were narrow at the hemline, this was their normal price. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS GROUP: Four pairs of slacks for basic hem = two inches to short on all of them.Brought it to their attention and was told that I would have to pay for them to fix their mistake. SAME VISIT: Three pairs of pants basic hem= on one of the pants they hemmed one leg and forgot about the other.The second pair they sewed the pockets closed and nothing else,remember basic hem only. And the third pair they used yellow stitching on the hem. All other exposed stitching is white. They up charge the sh#t out of ye as well,your $2 hem turns into $15 + Do yourself a favor and find a REAL alteration company because this is a scrap yard for your valuable clothes. read more

They are open on Sundays! Being vertically challenged means I need a stool to reach the top of my kitchen cabinets, that I have to be in the front of a group when being photographed, and wearing shorter pants than most of my leggy peers. Original Hems specializes in, you guessed it, hems and alterations. I took my thrifted jeans into Original Hems on Sunday and they were ready the next day on Monday after 5pm. Perfect! I only paid $4.95 for the service. You go in, try on your clothing piece that needs said alterations and they pin it for you. Then you pay up front and return when they say it will be ready. The whole process takes about 5 minutes. Pretty simple. I can't attest to how well the hem holds up but I can tell you that I'm currently happy with the price and speedy return time. I am coming out of yelp retirement for this to help my fellow yelpers. After reading all the yelp reviews I had certain expectations, however I was let down. Here are my issues with this place. 1. $2 hems right? Well not if you have "designer jeans." Those will cost you $4.95 each. This is for the basic hem, not the original hem mind you. When asked why, the guy literally, and I quote, "i don't know. That's is just the owners policy." I suppose I should at least appreciate his honesty, but when I questioned him further he made up an answer like the stitching has to be finer. 2. Most reviews say first hem free. Not true anymore so don't go in expecting this. 3. They have a van parked outside that says $2 hems in 5 minutes. Maybe if they are super slow, meaning not busy, but otherwise you pay way more for same day hemming. Otherwise normal turn around time is about 24 hours, at least that's what it was for me. Dropped off around 4pm and ready by 5pm next day. Overall, my jeans got the basic hem, but the stitching is not even straight. I would gladly pay more for quality work. I will post a picture. I hope this helps some of you go in with the right expectations so you are not as disappointed as I was. read more

Do not take uniforms here to get patches sewn on! Took a couple of uniform jackets in to get patches sewn on, very friendly service and attentiveness. Simple shoulder patches 1" down from seem on center & 2 patches name/rank in the front level & center (which were marked by employee while I was wearing). Received a couple days later and all but 1 patch was way off center and crooked! Left shoulder patch front of center by 1.5", R shoulder patch rear of center by 1.75", name plate obviously crooked, and badge patch had wrong color thread stitched all over patch instead of matched thread sewn around the edges.‍After taking them home and trying on I was shocked at the careless workmanship. Returned them and they were redone over several days. This time only one patch was crooked (American Flag) and another was damaged from removal of the first attempt. Honestly looked as if the person sewing on the patches was drunk or a child, very dissatisfied with workmanship and now I have to find another place to get it right and out the $$. read more

Makes mistakes and bad customer service. The two Latina girls look and act as if they're in a foul mood, no smiles and very curt. I asked for two diff hems, first they charge me. Then whisper in Spanish then decide to add on another separate charge a few minutes later. Then when I go to pick up, they didn't even do the 2nd hem! Wtf? Best of all, no sorries or even an apologetic tone. The dude asks me, you sure you want it done? NO, I paid you in advance not to get it done. Idiots. So I have to make a second trip out there. Don't bother with these guys!! U will get screwed one way or another. read more

More like 2.5stars It now takes longer to pick up your items. Definitely no friendly service here. I've had pants, jeans, dresses hemmed here and it always seems they make it shorter than how it was pinned for. That's something to keep in mind if you don't want to look like you're waiting for a flood when you're wearing your scrub bottoms. First off there hems are no longer $2. They start at $5 and go up to $10. As for same day service, there's now an additional charge. Their website states "ALTERATIONS: All hems ready the NEXT DAY(same day service available ) Resizing, or detail alterations 2-3 days or sooner". They told me a hem is actually more like 2 or 3 days. When i quoted the website, I was told "they prefer not to do it for the next day". Really?? Then i prefer to take my business somewhere else. read more

Being the small person that I am (5'1"), I will always need my pants hemmed when I buy them...sigh.... So I was going to go to a small mom and pop laundromat to get them hemmed but decided to look for some alternatives nearby and came across this shop. I expected some small mom and pop shop but wow it looks like some modern studio. completely different from what I expected. I was drawn to the $2 hems which is unbelievable since most places is like about $5. This place seemed to get good business. It wasn't swamped by any means, but there was constantly people coming in and out. The man that I'm pretty sure was the owner helped me out was nice, he asked if I'd been there before and when I said no, he said it was free. FREE?! I go take a seat because he says it'll only be like 5 minutes and feel like I just got some special treatment..... but later figure out that its free for the first hem ::ohhh not so special...:: BUT STILL... thats pretty awesome, free for the first and $2 a hem is still a crazy deal. Great place for their pricing and the fact that they are open late and even on Sundays. On the downside, they don't always do a good job. I took a pair of my brand new designer jeans to be hemmed and when I got them back they were longer than what they had pinned and they didn't hem them with the original cuff they had. The next day I took them back to be fixed and the lady made me pay again and told me that they don't re-do hems for free and that I should make sure it's the right length when they pin them. Then I asked if they could at least make the cuff that should have originally been there and they still didn't do it after the second time. I was pretty annoyed that for one she would blame the customer for them not hemming the length they marked them at and for two charging me again to have them fix their mess up and the jeans still didn't come out how I asked. read more

I can always count on Original Hems. And that's saying a lot for a tailor. I've brought all my suites to Original Hems. And they have always delivered. Only once did the pants not fit as slim as I had desired. I did tell them "not TOO tight" (so it was probably my fault. But it wasn't enough to make me change my suite for the event. A few months after, I finally got a chance to swing by again. I was expecting to pay for the correction, but kindly enough, they made the adjustment for free. I appreciated it very much. I recently brought in some jeans and dress shirts. Turned out how I expected. Basically, when you go in, you'll put on the piece of clothing, and they'll pin it to the fit. They'll keep adjusting till you like it. And the reason I can count on them is because.. the final products looks exactly like how they pinned it with me there. So... if you approved the fit.. and when it's done, you don't like the fit.. that's your fault. Never have I had them butcher my clothes. All in all, a good place I can trust and the price isn't too steep. read more

Pros: - Decor is nice - Turn around is quick at same day or one day - Price is good ($5-6 to hem jeans), ($29 to hem bridesmaid dress) - Service is friendly Cons: - Purchased my first pair of True Religion jeans (approx $250) and needed to hem up but stitch quality was sub par. Had to have them redo one leg because where the stiching met on the jeans were messy and looked poor. Stitch pattern was also slightly different - J Crew Bridesmaid dress had to re-alter 2 times and even still the quality was messy on the bottom, was still too long and the inner lining where I brought in the dress was poor quality. Had problems with the dress all day of the wedding and still almost tripped. Moral of the story: if you go here, inspect your clothes carefully and don't go here with expensive clothes. read more

This dry cleaners is great for getting an original hem done for your jeans, but not for anything else. They don't have so much as a hand mirror to see how they are going to alter the back of your outfit, and they don't have the expertise to take apart clothes and alter them. If you have a top or dress or pants hemmed then that is the only reason to get alterations there. read more

My friend had all of her bridesmaids get their dresses altered here, since we purchased them at a salon close by, but the alteration prices there were ridiculous! We all got fitted fairly quickly, and overall I was happy with the quality, price, and quick turn around. However, one of the other bridesmaids had to bring hers back, as her dress still didn't fit right after they altered it the first time. Another one of the bridesmaids also had an issue with the alterations done on her dress (they switched up the measurements and made the bust too tight and the waist too loose). Still giving 4 stars, because the price was reasonable and the fit was right on my dress. read more

This is my primary spot where I take my suits to be tailored. The staff here does a great job and they are quick to get the measurements completed and the tailor accomplished. Pants on average take about a day, but can sometimes be done in a few hours. Suit jackets take about two to three days. They are pretty cheap for pants, but are on the higher price for suit jackets and other items. The location is pretty big and they have a decent size staff whom are all friendly. The locations ambiance is nice and professional. I come here, because it is located close to 7 of my companies. The do a trustworthy and honest job. I would recommend giving them a try. I put my trust in them for even my most expensive of suits. read more

Honestly, I don't know why this place has not-so-good reviews. This is the only place I go when I need my jeans/pants altered! The cheapest alterations I've ever been to in Orange County! This place has never disappointed me and I've had all of my pants and jeans altered here. The employees are very helpful and help measure how much to alter when you try something on in the dressing rooms. NOTE: debit/credit card purchases can only be made with a $5 minimum purchase. The place is very clean and spacious. The bathroom is also very clean. I would definitely recommend my friends to come here for alterations because this is my go-to! read more
