They hemmed a pair of jeans for me and they are perfect. I've also brought several family members' pants here to be hemmed. Great job! They say they can do it in 5 minutes however that is not the case - it always takes several days. Ever hear of false advertising? Also, this place is always very busy. They need to hire more help and have a separate line for pick-ups and drop offs, and a separate area for people waiting for in store alterations. I usually have to wait a good 10 minutes just to pick up something. The TV is BLASTING every time I go here. Is that really necessary!? I frequently see elderly people here. I have never had to have anything fitted before so this was the first and they did amazing on my daughters dress. I was concerned because the dress has a lot of detail on it but they made it work. I would avoid this place at all costs. I had the worst customer experience of my life. The employees here take zero pride in their work, and they will make any excuse they can to blame their poor workmanship on the customer. These horrible practices are likely due to the staff being overworked (I've heard the employees say they work all day, every day ), but that is not the problem of the customer. You pay for the services you want before the work is done, and this place takes full advantage of that. They'll take your money and will try to get away without doing the work. If I never caught the fact that they didn't do the work I paid for, they would have made free money. I came here to have two dresses hemmed. When I came to pick up my dresses, they let me know that one hadn't been completed in time, and to come back the following week for the second dress. I was a little annoyed with this, but I brushed it off and came the following week to get it. Several things I had paid for were not completed, and I have been back to this place 7 or 8 times since (I've lost exact count at this point), to make sure the work I paid for was completed for BOTH dresses, and to correct the work that was completed, but that was completed sub-par. For one example, the hemming was never even on my dresses, and when I told them about it, the responses were: 1. "It wasn't off by all that much." (first of all, it was off by several inches. And, excuse me? If it is off by even a millimeter, that is too much) 2. "You should have tried it on in the store when you picked it up" (sorry that I trusted you to do the work right the first time, and that I don't have the time to try things on in the store) 3. "Well, the dress is longer in the front in case you pull up your dress throughout the night." Also, I am not sure why this is, but they will pin where you want the work done (how tight you want something, how short you want it, etc.) and than when the work is completed, it is never to how you wanted it when it was pinned to you in person. It is as if they pin it, and then take all the pins out before they sew it and 'eyeball' it. It is bizarre. For one dress, I needed it taken in on the top. I had to take it in several times in order for them to take it in the proper, SIGNIFICANT amount. Their response as to why it took so many times to get it right? "You could have lost weight." WOW! To say that to a customer to try to excuse horrible work is BEYOND! Fast forward to the 8th time I tried on the same dress so they could pin for the work that STILL needed to be done. I told one employee I was really disappointed that I had to keep babysitting them, as the work was never done and/or never done properly. She immediately removed all the pins and made a scene in front of other customers in the store when I said that. She screamed "Why don't you go somewhere else if we can't do it right!?" Maybe it is because I already paid for the work, and, as a result, I expect it to be done right? I had to call out the manager to get the work done, and he made zero apologies for her behavior, or for the many times I had to come in. The nightmare continues...I came to pick up my dress for the LAST time after the manager got involved. I thought that certainly, by this time around, they would be super careful with my dress, and do the work right so that it would be over for the both of us. Wrong. I tried on the dress there (like they wanted), and it turns out they sewed the strap I needed shortened on wrong so that when I wore it, it was twisted. Seriously? The associate rushed it to the back to fix it, while my mom and I waited. Absolutely no apology, or no acknowledgment of the immense amount of time we have wasted through this exhausting, never-ending process. More try-ons and work had to be done there during that last visit before I could leave that place for good...and when I said the pinning was too tight and I needed it a little looser in order to get it right, the associate would shake her head, try to make it seem like I was the crazy one, and that it was only an '1/8 inch more.' Still, not one apology. So interesting, because the associate got so mad when I said I had to keep babysitting them, and when I came in for my 'final' try on, the strap was sewn on twisted...case in point! The associate told my mom while I was trying on my dress for the last time that she told the sewing crew to take extra care with my dress. My mom replied, "And this was the best they could do? A twisted strap?" She just shrugged in response. Again, no apology. So sad. We were there an hour, and missed dinner plans because of all the revisions that had to be made. I will never come back to this place. I was never given a refund or a partial refund for my misery. They like to blame the customer. They don't understand that the customer is always right. They don't know how to say sorry when they are wrong. You deserve the best service. You won't find that here. read more

Went in on Thursday old them what I needed done to my bridesmaid dress. They wanted me to try it on but my I had already pinned where I needed it hemmed. I was quoted $70 and paid for it. You can't beat hemming for $2, if you want the original hem on your expensive jeans... it's $9.50. I've never had it done in 5 minutes... the countless times I've been here (whether I am the only customer sitting there or a few ahead of me) has always been 2-3 days wait for one pair of pants. I started bringing my jeans here a couple years ago. The price was cheap and the turnaround was quick but the jeans were a bit short. I thought it was my fault for asking for it too short but almost everything else since then has also turned out either too short or uneven. It's really hit or miss here. My husband brought some of his suits and nice shirts to be tailored. His jackets turned out fine but his wedding pants were too short with one leg shorter than the other. One shirt was perfect but another was tailored too small in the waist using darts ups the back making it look like a woman's dress shirt possibly ruining it. I'm disappointed in their inconsistency and will look for a new tailor. read more

I came to Original Hems Studio with my boyfriends denim biker jacket to have a alteration done to make the arm hole larger. The woman who took the order clearly understood what needed to be done to the jacket. The quality of the work was excellent, but the alteration they made did not fix the problem. The woman at the counter understood, but there must have been miscommunication with who does the work because what was done did not address the problem at all. They did take it back to try again and fix it for no extra charge... but when we picked it up again a week later, the work was done in a totally different place than we spoke about...they decided to add a piece in the center of the back. To do this, they even had to remove a very large patch on the back of the jacket. The did sew the patch back on, but it was considerably off center, rotated, and they used a different color thread on parts of it. In the end, we gave up on getting the alteration done and just bought a new jacket, the quality of their work was good the first time, but it wend downhill from there. read more

I will never go back. I spent $60 on my daughter's choir dress to be altered in the bodice and have the hem taken in. They took in the waist and that was fine, but they only ironed the hem into place, it was never stitched. We didn't notice that the work was incomplete until the second concert that she had to wear an unfinished dress to that week. When I brought it back to be finished the "guy" behind the counter kept looking to my husband to tell him what happened! I guess I don't know what I'm talking about 'cause I'm just a woman. Workmanship is poor when it come to sewing hems and they seem to know it since they don't warranty their work beyond 30 days. I had new dress slacks hemmed and wore them 3 times when one of the hems came apart. Since it had been over thirty days they charged me $4.95 to fix their sloppy work. I went to them because they were close to my office and convenient for my schedule. But I'm going back to my local cleaner tailor who is cheaper and knows what she is doing. read more
