I really wanted to like this place but they have screwed up too many times. They are always super busy and understaffed. They do a rush job pinning and but I still end up waiting around. I had to take back several items to be corrected. When I put the dress on and pointed out that it didn't fit right on top, she claimed that it had been stretched out by being on a hanger. Yeah right - this is a dress that I had for 2 weeks, it wasn't hanging for years. They charged me to fix it. I took 5 basic tops in for alterations and it was $80. Expensive but fast turn around. I've had hems that are not straight, places where the stitch wasn't closed at the end and it started unraveling, and just plain bad alterations. The clothes always come back with various colored thread clinging in weird places, covered in lint and wrinkled. Need to have dry cleaned before I can wear it. read more

Walked in on Friday the service was really good Kenny was the gentleman that helped me. I needed some pants hemmed for a interview on short notice that I needed by Tuesday and I knew that Monday was a holiday.. I asked if they where open on Sunday because it was my first time here and he told me no, so I said I needed them for the next day they charged a $20 rush fee which I get it was a last minute thing but once I saw they where open on Sunday's would the rush fee still been $20? They saved me but I did ask if they where open on Sunday and they said no when on the website it says they are that's my only problem and why I have two stars read more

For an affordable alteration that is simple take it here. But for suits that require a lot of alteration they seemed to not pay attention to detail and I had to take it back 3 times to get what I wanted. It still isn't as fitted as my other suit I took to a more expensive alteration place. So I suggest going elsewhere for more extensive alterations read more

It's so fancy inside...it looked more like a club than an alteration place! However, the service was super quick and super cheap!! I went today at 1pm and it was empty but quickly filled up with customers...must be popular! For what I needed, the service cost $2 for next day but since I needed mine the same day, it was $5 and it took maybe 15 minutes! I tried on the scrubs when I got home and it was perfect. Buying a good pair of jeans feels great, having them hemmed 1/4 inch shorter than requested, not so much. It has happened at Original Hems Studio many, many, many times....BUT, I am happy to report they now factor in seam allowance!! Yay! Now my jeans graze the floor where they were folded instead of 1/4" above my shoe! Same day service, seam allowance, and an affordable price have made them five star worthy. Nice job Original Hems. Love this place!!! Having a 26.5 inch inseam I have to get all my pants hemmed, even capris! So this place is a God send... They can do same day 5/10 minutes for $5?!?! I've been there three times, each time to have pairs of pants from martial arts uniforms shortened. The first time I had no problems. The second time, I needed 4" cut off the bottom, and then have the hem double-stiched. They wrote the instructions on the ticket. When I got them back, they had removed only 1.5" and single-stitched the hem. They corrected the issues while I waited. This past Friday, I took the third pair of pants in to be shortened. I gave the same instructions... "Cut off 4-inches, and then double-stitch the hem". I had already folded the pant legs back by 4". The lady at the counter measured the "cuff" and said "4-inches?". She marked the cut point, and wrote up the ticket. I paid extra for a rush job. I picked up the pants today, and they'd only cut off 2 inches! Maybe it's my instructions, but I think "Cut off 4-inches, AND THEN double-stitch the hem" is pretty clear... Especially when they mark the cut point in the pant legs! read more

I am extremely happy with extensive alterations made to a lined poly-satin suit (dress & long jacket) I'm wearing to a wedding. The prices were fair considering all the remediation they had to do. I sew (but don't do alterations) so I can appreciate all the work the tailors did and also the quick turnaround time. Talin, who pinned my garments on me, was nice, and professional. She did a very skillful job in pinning the suit properly so it draped and fit properly once I tried it on again when I picked it up. The tailors didn't leave any pin holes in the fabric after ripping the garment and lining. I was somewhat expecting the worst given the fabric type. I just made my first visit to this shop because other reviews mentioned how quick they were, and I needed to get some new jeans hemmed fast. They did it on the spot in 5 min., for $5. There were two clerks/tailors available, both very nice, and it was a not-too-busy time of day -- late a.m. on a Wednesday -- so I didn't even have to wait for service. Also, it's a surprisingly nice place inside, rather than the sweatshop vibe I've noticed at other alteration shops. I'm very satisfied and will be back. read more

Just left the store, I had two pants hemmed few month ago and they were done two inches longer. They wanted to charge me $20 to fix their mistake because of their 30 day policy. I did not get 2" shorter and a good company would own up to their mistakes. I will never use them again. read more

This place is great. I saw their cable ad late one night and went inthe next morning. Their hems realy are $2 and the rest of theri prices are great. I went in to have 1 suit done and decided to bring back several suits and many dress shirts (as I have lost a lot of weight). They are very fast and super freindly and my clothes have never looked better. Romero measured me and he did a great job. Some of the suits had to basically be completely re-cut to fit me right. The darts they put in my shirts were beautiful. And if you have to wait (as they ae quite busy) - the atmosphere of the place is great. It looks like a comfortable lounge with great music plaing on HD TVs. I recommend this place highly and I will be bringin in ALL my clothes now because nothing beats a tailored wardrobe from jeans to suits. Darren read more

The quality of the stitching was good, yet the alteration was not done to my requirements so did not solve my issue. I guess the girl at the front desk has difficulty in relaying what needs to be carried out to the workers on the machines. After 2 attempts to make my alteration I gave up on them. The second attempt to do the work they ruined a $100 custom patch, sewed it back on crooked and used white thread on a black patch. They gave me a store credit, but I dont trust them enough to use it. read more

While this is not my first experience with the Original Hem Studio - it will be my last. Since the four other times I've been here the same scenario plays out. On Fri Oct 3 at 4:00 pm I brought in a new pair of blue jeans to have shortened - I gave them the outside seam measurement (39 inches) and the admonishment to "measure twice - cut once." Then I paid my two bucks - this is a great price - and they said; "pick them up after 6:00 pm on Monday." This afternoon (10/14 @ 12:46 pm) I picked them up. The studio was very busy and the staff was running about taking care of a good number of customers. I asked for a tape to measure the out seam - at first the young lady was a little reluctant to do this. But in my best "Command Voice" I asked if this was a problem and smiled - a measuring tape was quickly produced from under the counter. The outseam on the pants were 40 1/2 inches one leg and 40 5/8 on the other. Naturally, I calmly asked for this to be corrected (It never pays to yell at people that you want to correct something). The young lady's response was come back Thursday after 6:00 pm -- at this point I gave her the "look". She then offer to have them done they next day for an additional $5.00. I responded that this wasn't my mistake and I would like this taken care as quickly as possible. She picked up the jeans and hurried to the young gentlemen (shift supervisor, or manager) after a quick conversation, she returned and asked me to wait for ten minutes and they take care of it. I walked outside and sat at the table and chairs provided and made a few business calls. Soon a polite young lady brought my newly re-hemmed jeans out to me, I thanked her and continued on my errands. When I arrived home, the little voice in my head was yelling that I should have checked their work before leaving their shop. So I laid them out on the bed and measured them. One leg had an outseam of 39 1/4, the other 38 1/2. Like most people one of my legs is slightly longer than the other - So I asked for the 39" outseam as a compromise, rather than challenge them with pants of different length. Who knew that getting pants leg the same length was such a challenge. As fate would have it, the short pant's leg corresponds with my longer leg and the long pants leg with my shorter leg. So its off to another tailor, $12.00 and with a little luck this can be fixed. This has been the fourth time I've gone through this with them. Clearly, it was my mistake to return to Original Hem Studio after being greatly disappointed each time I used them. But I was lured back by the glowing reviews on Yelp. So right now I'm trying to decide if I'm more disappointed in the Original Hem Studio or myself. read more

I had four pairs of pants hemmed yesterday and picked them up today. From dress pants to jeans, they were perfect. I can't believe she got them so exactly right, when the marking took only a few seconds. I took two more pairs in today. For $2 each, my husband won't be dragging out the sewing machine any more. There will probably be a short wait when you visit the store. But no wonder it's so popular! I also saw them fitting other clothing, so apparently they do all kinds of alterations. read more

Complaint Details I took 3 items to be altered and they were not altered to fit properly. I returned them to make adjustments and was told that the jeans could not be altered to fit because of the style, but for an additional charge they could make some adjustments. I explained they should have informed me prior to altering the jeans they would not be able to alter them to fit. I declined to pay more money for a service that never should have been done if they knew it could not be done. The other (2) items , a Anne Kline suit that was too large.The pants were taken in and only required minor adjustment in the side seam. The jacket also needed to be taken in on the sides. The lining was puckered in the back and the fabric on the sleeves did not lay smoothly. I pointed out that it appeared the are openings were now too large for the body of the jacket. They stated that they did not make any adjustments to the sleeves but could make adjustments for an additional charge. I again argued that the person pinning the garments or at least the person altering the jacket should have known that taking in the body of the jacket would cause problems with the sleeves. They agreed to make the adjustments at no charge. When I picked up the suit, the jacket still had the same problem. I expressed my dissatisfaction with the quality of the work and was again told that they had not altered the sleeves and did not seem to understand how the original alteration had caused the problem in the first place. I should have been notified and advised that more extensive alterations were needed initially. At that point, I could have chosen to pay for more extensive alterations or not have anything done at all. The person who appeared to be the manager didn't seem to understand the reason for my dissatisfaction and was not truthful when he stated they did not alter the sleeves, but there is evidence that the lining of the sleeves were stitched. I cannot were the jacket/suit in it's current state. Desired Outcome/Settlement Desired Settlement: Replacement I would like a refund for the failed alterations and reimbursement for the price of the suit. read more

I saw their ad on TV and on their website where it says they do hems in 5 minutes and also that the first 3 hems for new customers are free. Well no such thing on either point. I was charged $9.95 for 2 hems and told to pick up tomorrow. When I asked about their ad, the guy said they don't do that anymore. WOW!!! This place is awesome! When you first walk in, it feels very upscale. Music is playing and everyone working there is friendly and happy to see you. I've been going here now for several months, and more recently in the last 30 days. I've lost some weight, which is a great thing, but now I'm drowning in my clothes. Rather than pitch my clothes, and go on a shopping spree (which is what my wife would do) I decided to bring my clothes here. What a great decision. They were able to fix my suits to fit better than when I bought them. They've fixed the sleeves, taken in the body, and even shortened the length on my expensive shirts, making them look as if they made them just for me! I've even taken in work shirts, jeans, dress and casual pants. I live in Cerritos but this place is worth the drive. One thing, please be sure to allow them to measure the alterations for you, rather than doing it yourself. That way if you're unhappy, they'll fix it at no additional charge. And their prices are better than your local dry cleaner. In my opinion, this is the best place for quality, service, price, and most importantly... "HIPNESS"!!!!! read more
