This was my spot when I lived in LB. Yea, it's *kinda* in the ghetto but Tommy's transcends socio/economic boundaries where a small white collar Asian girl can hunt for some chili covered bliss with everyone else. While my heart is reserved for the Rampart location, this Tommy's hits the spot when I couldn't make it all the way up to LA. For me, they were consistently delicious, very prompt and never messed up an order (which is inevitably 1 chili tamale, 1 chili cheese hot dog and chili cheese fries with extra onions and tomato). And the nice window guy always called me "Senorita" and asked if I wanted extra forks... which is like saying, "I know you're going to eat this all yourself but I'm going to help you save face here." Been a fan of Tommy's for as long as I can remember and this location is just as memorable as the original. One of the employees, Dino, makes every trip memorable as his demeanor and customer service are second-to-none. Even when he's not working a register, he always greets with friendly smile and sincere. We've been regulars ever since we moved to Long Beach and with employees like Dino around, we'll always come back. The burgers are unbelivable. You get exactly what you pay. I'm SOOO glad I was unaware Tommy's was a 24 hour establishment when I was consistently so near one. Though I did get to partake in a 1 a.m. Tommy's burger this past week and I think they might be better after dark... Why don't all burgers come with chili? Why are these so good? I have never received such horrible service from a franchised establishment. We simply ordered a double cheese burger, fries, and two hashbrowns in the drive-thru. After receiving our order, we asked for ranch. The employee seemed annoyed.. not sure why? Ranch does not come out of her paycheck, nor does it affect her in any way. She gave us a small container about 2/3 filled. As a ranch lover, I asked for more. She yelled to another employee in Spanish that we wanted another and she gave us the same size container not even 1/3 filled. If it's that big of a deal, CHARGE ME FOR IT. My friend and I were hungry so we looked for any burger place that might be open and this was the closest one with alright reviews. Prices seem too good to be true; $12 for a a hamburger, a double cheeseburger, and chili cheese fries is pretty great. The man in the drive thru window was really nice so we were really excited. However, getting home, we realized they got our orders completely wrong. They gave us both Chili Cheese Burgers and we decided to try then anyway because it was too late to go back. Long story short... the burgers were AWFUL and so were the chili cheese fries. Their chili tastes so bad and the texture leads me to believe that it's fake. I also just saw the reviews mentioning that this place is rat infested so besides them being gross, they're contaminated. Absolute waste of $12. Listen! This is long over due! I grew up in downtown LA, a few blocks away from the first Original Tommy's I have always loved Tommy's. I come here for their generous portions of chilli in everything I order, from my double chilly cheese burger to my chilli fries. I ALSO ASK THEM TO ADD ONIONS TO MY CHILLI FRIES. I recommend you try it. Anyway, I have not read the comments but I can assure you it is worth a try. I know the chilli is not your average chilli from a can, but that is expected from Tommy's, the chilli is something a little different that you must try for yourself and see if it's for you. I personally love it. The one star off is for the price. Their chilli cheese fries are more expensive than a chillu cheese burger. I think there is something wrong with that. And the prices are a little high overall. I was just there and ordered a chilli cheese burger and chilli cheese fries and my total way too high. The institutional Tommy's Chili Burger was a bit on the small size.. but really yummy.. .maybe too yummy which while eating you have this G - U - I - L - T - Y look on your face that will last three full days. oh yes.. I felt guilty like .. ummm what is my body doing.. it loves it..but i am going to pay for it later? You never really pay for it health wise..it just seems to digest itself quite fine. Burgers are well made... as so was the chili which was scathingly similar to fresh tasting canned Dennison's, if there is such a thing... therefore Tommy's for sure is the SoCal super cheap eats kind of thing. I've been going to Tommy's in Eagle Rock and Tujunga for years and it's always been pretty good. Went here cause I was cravin' a little Tommy's since my move to Long Beach. Went to the window to order, and wasn't acknowledged for 3 to 5 minutes. I didn't get that at all. There was one car at the drive thru. I ordered the double cheese, fries and drink. Got to tell you, that burger was the most overdone thing I've ever tasted, seen, and then threw away ever. OK after living in Long Beach the past 3 years I had to try this place out. All I can say is this place can clog an artery or give you a heart attack in an instant. Don't get me wrong this place is fabulous if your looking for a very unhealthy place to eat but if you have the chance go somewhere else. Their specialty is their triple chili cheeseburger with chili fries and a 64 oz. drink. Talk about overkill. The drive in itself is in a nice location close to Cal State Long Beach and has easy access from Anaheim street. It's inexpensive and a good late night option as many places in the LBC doesn't stay open too late. Now onto the food as described earlier this place is known for their chili. I did like the fries as they were crisp and fresh. The burger was drenched in chili so I had a messy time finishing the whole thing. Overall I thought the food was tasty but regretted it later on while trying to work it all of the next day. I told myself to come here only once a year at most. read more

Got the chili to-go because I heard so many great things about it but I just got disappointed. It's a scoop of overly ground meat and whatever else is in there. It's really thick and oily. The flavor is not bad but I could only eat so much of it until the texture catches up to it. I gave this two stars because of the guy helping me at the drive-thru. I've eaten at alot of Tommy's starting with Rampart in the 70's. Always a fan and supporter but they don't always measure up to my early memories. Too often special instructions are ignored and little pride shows in the food. Today complete faith restored! The staff was super friendly the meal came exactly as I ordered it fresh and delicious. Cruised over to this place Thursday night . My boss and some co workers talk about this place quite often so it was about time that I experienced it myself. Although I was a bit skeptical of chili on a burger. It was around 9PM and I was hungry. We pulled up and it's a well lit location but the place was pretty empty. Didn't do the drive thru as I wanted to take my time and scope out the menu. My lovely lady orders a #3 which I believe is a burger with fries and a drink, we are at Tommy's for a reason so we get the burger with the works, the fries with the chili and just for good measure I order a cheeseburger on the side with you guessed it more chili. So my first thought upon biting down was damn this is good. My second being why have I not tried this sooner. I was really into the burger and so was my girl. The fries with chili were ok. Nothing special. In fact I think maybe I'll do two cheeseburgers next time and skip the fries. Give this place a try. You'll be glad you did . read more

My friends and I needed quick drunk fast food so we ended up here on the way back home. My dude and I shared a chili double cheeseburger and chili fries, which was good, filling and cheap. The chili has a darker, deeper flavor compared to what you would get at other places. It doesn't top our favorite chili in Long Beach (@ Fantastic Burgers) but it was still good. Service was quick! Great place. I"ve been coming here for years. A little tidbit...this used to be a McDonalds back in the day. The food is great, but for fast food, it's a little pricy. Double chiliburger is my favorite. Everyone is so nice there and they are open late. They are also pet friendly. That is a plus for me. They allow rats in the restaurant(plus there are pigeons on the outside). Go there! Just remember to finish the chili off the wrapper! read more

But this is my place now due to living close. Tommys never disappoints, the flavor is always the same which is tasty with onions, cheese, pickles, tomatoes, chili and tasty hamburger meat. The window for drive through was kind of slow for a Saturday afternoon but I suppose the food was fresh and hot. Only tommys I know of in south at area. We also ordered regular hot dog and brought it home with a 8oz side of chili for to go order the bun wasn't very special but the chili makes up for all of it. read more

I visited this Tommys location 7/31/2016 @8:30pm and was very disappointed. Off the bat, employees took forever to respond to drive thru. Secondly, this is suppose to be fast food right?
