I just ate at this Tommy's a few days ago, and I am happy to say I survived. The time before, months ago, I ended up at urgent care with a rapid heart beat and sweaty palms. I swore I would never go back, but hey I like Tommy's. I stay away from other locations, I never know how my body will react to this healthy food. This chili is hazardous, if you eat here and get sick, its your own fault. The food is good, it will bite you back if you don't take precautions. UPDATE: here I am a month later and STILL no call from a manager or their corporate about this incident. We ordered 9 breakfast sandwiches on English muffins. This is my favorite treat myself item and I just had a really really bad Easter Sunday because my dog got out of a boarding facility and was in he had spent the night at the ER vet. We were on our way home from him having surgery. Okay back on track. So I ordered 9 breakfast sandwiches for everyone who was at my house waiting to hear about the dog. I ordered these specifically ON ENGLISH MUFFINS. Alright I finally get my food and drive home. I'm about 20 minutes away maybe 15 with no traffic but it's Whittier Blvd so there is always traffic. Especially on a weekday in the morning. So I get home and start heading out the goods to everyone. Well low and behold they are on BUNS. On stinking BUNS. Yuck yuck . Sorry if you like it on the bun. I don't I really only enjoy it on an English muffin. It just tastes better to me and my kids and my family and my neighbors too. So the order is wrong. Well I JUST got home with my dog that just had surgery and I can't leave my dog to go swap out food. Plus it's like a 20 minute drive and there is traffic. I would have to go there, wait for them to remake it and then drive back. That's at least an hour. We called the location and they didn't even offer to replace the order IF we drove back. They said it had already been 30 minutes and it was TOO long to tell them it was wrong. So we called corporate who assured us that a district manager would call us back and take care of the situation. Well guess what they didn't. No one called us back. We tried to contact them again and were told they left a message for the manager to call us. Well it's been over a week now and no one called. So almost $60 in breakfast sandwiches that no one wanted to eat. Not even an apology from the restaurant. However my dog is doing better now. He is healing slowly but surely. So traveling through Pico Rivera / Montebello during lunchtime and it's a toss up between here and I-N-O. Well, went with Tommy's 'cause I can get I-N-O anytime since there's two near to me in my neck of the woods. And the Tommy's closest to me is a bitch to get in & out (no pun intended with the I-N-O reference) of their parking lot. Chili cheese burger, fries and a Coke - keepin it simple and I didn't have the deathwish mood to partake with their double or triple cheeseburger. My take on this day's lunch, the cook needs to go down to the ORIGINAL Tommy's on Rampart and taste that chili. I can't quite elaborate into words, but it didn't taste the same. Wow. Where do I start? How about I start with I had my worst drive through experience ever yesterday at this location. I pull to the drive through, about 4 cars ahead, 2 behind me. Get to the window and give my order. I am very specific in saying I wanted 2 items with no child, 2 items with. "Cheeseburger no chili, hot dog no chili, chili cheeseburger, chili cheese fries". I made it a long time ago". Meaning he was not going to remake anything because he had already made the order the incorrect way she told him to. OH HELL NO!! She starts doing something on the screen. They need to hire people that speak English to work at the drive through. Tried to order 2 mega combos after struggling to understand the lady over the com they hand is two medium drinks. First time at this restaurant yesterday, came through the drive-thru. Woman at the speaker was difficult as hell to understand. Her accent was thick and it made it very hard for me. This really is a biased review because this place is a childhood favorite of mine. This is the place that made me know, I am fattie, a foodie, love all things oily, just like Tommy's. Tommy's is a heart attack meal. This will make your esophagus layer thicker and every internal organ work harder, BUT it is all worth it. Tommy's is of course famous for their chili burger and chili fries. The recipe is consistent in every restaurant. I can never hate this place, no matter the location. I always get a single or a double nowadays and that can keep you full for the whole day. That is how thick the chili is. She has it in her mind that chili is the same as hot sauce. Worst case scenario is that mommy or daddy will use the extra chili and make chili fries if she doesn't like it, right? Tommy's will always be my favorite fast food chain so when I found out that there was one around the corner from where I now work in Pico Rivera I was stoked! Not the same taste as the Original on Beverly and Rampart but definitely gets the job done. I just came to Tommy's in Pico Rivera, on Whittier Boulevard. The skinny dark girl with glasses taking orders in the drive-through has a really terrible attitude. It appears that she HATES working here. Her terrible attitude while taking my order at the drive-through says it all.
