The pizza here is great, and the toppings are really unique (white beans, carmelized pear, etc.). It's definitely worth trying if you're into California-style pizzas with unconventional toppings. I did have two minor complaints, however. I ordered roasted garlic (confirmed on my receipt) and instead I was given roasted red peppers. Not a big deal because luckily I like both toppings, but frustrating. Also, the crust of the pizza was quite burnt. I like my pizzas well-done/crispy, but you really shouldn't be getting a strong burnt taste from the crust. Judging from the pictures that other people have posted, this isn't typical for Otto, so I wouldn't worry about that happening. So, definitely give this a shot! read more

Called for delivery and was pleasantly surprised by the promptness. We got the roasted chicken caramelized pear-a favorite, the chicken and (extra) basil, and tried the spicy pulled pork for the 1st time, which was packed with a good amount of heat. I would start by saying..yes..the other reviews are correct. Never order online here. It took them more than 1.5 hours to deliver the pizza(FYI, my place is .7 miles away) By which time the pizza was dead and cold. Went here on a team outing with my company for dinner. I had heard great things and was really impressed by the food! We grabbed some beer and a couple of salads to start, and then we ordered a chicken and basil pizza. The pizza has huge slices, and they are perfectly greasy (at least in my opinion). They have a number of other interesting pizza combinations, and I definitely want to return to try more. I also really appreciated the employees working there. While OTTO is a place where you order and pay at the counter, they were very attentive to our table when we had any questions or needed any refills. Will definitely return! read more

Always super delicious, generous on the toppings, and even though I am probably on the last street in their delivery area, always hot! Tonight was no exception. The driver was going to be 5-10 minutes late due to an issue at the previous stop. Katie called me and proactively explained and apologized. Uber eats and the other delivery apps have taken over this area, because of most pizza delivery giving such shitty customer service - but Otto still has their own drivers and they are AMAZING! And did I mention how freaking delicious the food is? The tortellini pizza is so different. The mashed potato and bacon is ridiculously delicious . The toppings and combinations are so unique (butternut squash!). The only thing that didn't live up to my expectations has been the chocolate chip cookies. They tasted good but were hard as a rock. The boyfriend and I have been to Otto twice in the last month and will probably be back in the near future. The atmosphere is great, the staff is quick and friendly, and the pizza is divine. Both times I have gotten the tortellini pizza-- pasta on a pizza, an Italian girl's dream. The cheese is perfectly melted, the crust is crisp but still soft inside, and the red sauce has just the right amount of sweetness. The boyfriend has gotten the pizza that has bacon and apples on it, which he enjoyed. Yesterday he got the brunch pizza, which is fried egg, bacon, spinach, and tomatoes on pizza. I thought I'd lost him after the first bite. My only complaint is that they don't have cider. If they did, Otto would be absolutely perfect instead of almost perfect. read more

This pizza is awesome. The crust is crisp, the toppings are different but still very good. I got the spicy pulled pork and scallion which has become one of my favorite pizzas ever. A little spicy but great flavor. Awesome cold the next day. We also got the eggplant and ricotta to share and the eggplant was soft, tender and flavorful. Eggplant on pizza can always be hit or miss, but they nail it here. A little pricier than your average House of Pizza but way better quality, so I personally think it is worth it. They serve beer and wine and the selection won't blow you out of the water but is decent enough. Staff couldn't really answer any questions about any of the alcohol which is a pet peeve of mine. They only have maybe 5-6 beers, not hard to know a little about them. But I would go back in a heartbeat. read more

The management emailed me back a few hours after I posted my review apologizing for the incidents, but did not address the 2nd visit where there was just a lack of product to sell. Addressing the 3rd visit, he stated that management was changing at the location but their was no excuse for not having someone trained to check ids and sell alcohol. I learned to love Otto Pizza from my local spots in Portland, ME and now it is great to have one close for when I visit my sister in Brookline. Otto is the kind of place that is always worth going out of your way, traveling a little further, just to get there. The availability of singles slices makes this a great place if you are on the run but the atmosphere is even better if you've got the time to sit and enjoy a full pizza. There is little chance you wont be salivating before you make it half way down the menu with the tasty and original combinations they've come up with: Mashed Potato, Bacon and Scallion is amazing but Pulled Pork and Mango made me fall in love with Otto. read more

I'm rather surprised that this place only has 3 1/2 stars. I'd say that they're pizza is pretty good, and I'm normally very picky about pizza because I'm used to NY/NJ slices. They're squash and cranberry pizza was awesome. Thin crispy crust yet and the sauce was savory. this review is for delivery only. Live closer to the coolidge corner location but they only have pickup so they referred me to the commonwealth ave location for delivery. Ordered 2 large pizzas: the white cauliflower pizza and the ricotta tomato basil. The pizzas took about an hour to arrive which I thought was pretty standard, but when they did arrive they were pretty cold. Because of this, the crust was starting to be stale and the cheese had hardened. I also thought that there was way too much un-covered crust (aka crust to pizza ratio). If the crust was fresher, I may not have dislike this so much, but I felt like I was eating cheesey bread. The flavors were good, but the pizza was disappointing overall. This is one of the more conflicting reviews I've had to write because of the stark contrast between Otto's food and service quality. Food: Otto has great pizza variety. I've tried slices from several pies and every single one has been above-average to very good. One of my personal favorites is their "small" mashed-potato, bacon, and scallion pizza, which at just under $15 was shockingly large; size-wise, it's definitely on-par with the large pies at many other pizza places. Quality-wise, it was relatively non-greasy and tasted delicious. Service: The first time I ordered delivery from Otto, I ordered catering for an event starting at 5 pm. Our ten-pie order was supposed to arrive at 4:15 pm and when we called at 4:30 pm they told us it was minutes away. At 4:50 pm the order still hadn't arrived so we called again and they told us that the pies hadn't been made yet... They scrambled to make the pies and at around 5:45 pm, our pies finally arrived, an hour and a half later than the promised time. Even still, I treated this as a singular incident caused by someone accidentally forgetting about a ten-pie order (still not sure how this is possible) and a few weeks later I boldly decided to give Otto delivery another go. I ordered a single small pie at 7 pm and will spare the details, but it ended up arriving nearly two hours later (projected wait time was an hour). Looking at some of the other reviews here, this seems to be a problem others have had too. Otto serves great pizza and is worth trying, but I'd recommend ordering in person if possible because they're so unreliable with delivery orders. read more

My wife and I ordered a pizza at 8pm At 9:30, I called to ask for the status of the order- "we are working on it" At 10, I call once again "we are working on it" At 10:45- I call again. While on the phone with the restaurant, I get another call- The driver is here. We ask the driver what happened- he says I don't know. We ask if there is any discount or compensation for a the long wait and no updates for 2 hours 45 minutes and that we are ready to go to bed. He tells us that we are welcomed to put our pizza in the fridge. We told him we didn't want it anymore and take it back. Do yourself a favor and don't order from this place. I don't get the excitement? I tried this place out a while back and got the pizza standards: Cheese, pepperoni. IF you can't get that right, I am not willing to take the pizza relationship much further. It was meh at best. At that time, the service was weak, and the prices were poorly matched to the quality. I decided to give them another go when I was working a long day and wanted cheese. I got the four cheese white pizza to go. I called ahead and showed up when they told me to. I stood around for ten minutes while they worked on the pizza that the guy had the balls to tell me was "cooling off" when I walked in. Sure buddy, too bad I can SEE there is no pizza waiting for me. Then it was mediocre again. A nice cheesy blend. Not filling at all. The crust was weak, too. Booooo. If we're gonna rave about Portland pizza joints: Flatbread is where it's at. Pizza is unique and good (not your "typical" pizza but heated up on the spot by slice or made fresh if you get a whole pizza). Limited beer selection, but all is craft beer and good.
