$3.50 for a slice of pizza may seem overpriced, but the slice is basically a quarter of a pie. I ordered a slice mashed potato, bacon, and scallion pizza to go, and it was heavenly. They heat up a premade pie for you if you order by the slice, but it still tastes pretty fresh. The crust is thin and chewy, and they don't skimp on the toppings. Customer service is second to none. I do hate that they consistently change their menu to take away my favorite pizza but their pizza is great. A lot of places or people wouldn't believe in such a thing but my wife has a tomato intolerance. She developed it about 7 years ago and it has made my pizza eating life hell. I love pizza. It was something I ate a lot of. And then the intolerance came where she couldn't digest tomato anymore. Pizza became a rarity to me. Then we found Ottos. I was always against the idea of a white pizza. It just didn't make sense to me. But their white pizzas are enjoyable not only for her but for me too. I ask that if Ottos reads this you bring back two. The arugula, pear and blue cheese. And the pineapple and red pepper flake pizza. They were quite divine. If you're adventurous in your food and willing to go against the grain of your typical cheese pizza or your pepperoni pizza give this place a shot. The mashed potato pizza is a great choice. I'm not sure if I understand the hype that surrounds OTTO because I wasn't too blown away it. I came here on a Tuesday evening and decided to have a slice of their cauliflower and mushroom pizza. My friend tried the mashed potato and bacon one. There were plenty of seats so we had no trouble snagging a table. My pizza was alright- it was a huge slice!- and for $3.50, it was worth it. I liked how the cauliflower and mushroom toppings tasted fresh alongside the nice crust that held up well even with the ingredients. I wish my slice had more flavors going on, though! I visited Otto on Commonwealth Ave., Boston, near Boston University and used their app to order a large, mashed potato, bacon, and scallion pizza (my favorite pizza of all time). It was hot and ready even though I arrived 5-10 minutes past the estimated pickup time. The woman behind the pick-up shelving was friendly and helpful, and I was in and out in a matter of seconds. There's a reason i keep going back- every time, the pizza has been absolute perfection. the second time i ordered, it was online and my order must have not completely come through to the shop. they made it there, on the spot, and for the "inconvenience," gave it to me on the house. if it couldn't get any better, i placed an order at 11:45 pm tonight after my night shift at work, and they closed at midnight. they called me, told me it was too late, which i totally understood. I've been wanting to try Otto since it opened in Coolidge Corner and Rachel C raved about it. My friends and I ordered delivery on Friday, but I guess only the BU (Comm Ave) location delivers. So I still haven't tried the Coolidge Corner location! I spoke to someone on the phone who gave me advice on which pizzas to get and how many salads. He was very friendly and very helpful! We ended up getting 2 large pizzas (Sausage and Vidalia Onion and a Butternut Squash, Ricotta and Cranberry) and 2 salads (House with Red Wine Vinaigrette and the Crunchy Green, with Green Apple, Cabbage and Green Goddess Dressing). I tried the House salad, which was decent, but didn't get to try the Crunchy Green. My friend told me it was "AWESOME!" The salads are small - they are definitely "personal" sized, although 2 of us split 1, because I didn't have a ton of salad. As for the pizzas - they are AMAZING. The Butternut Squash was definitely the group favorite. I had 2 pieces and could have eaten the entire thing. It wasn't too heavy, but was super flavorful. The Sausage & Vidalia Onion was messier and greasier, but was very good as well. I had 2 pieces the next day for lunch and it was good, but just not AS flavorful as the Butternut Squash. I would try it again, but would maybe get another meat one over this one. But I would DEF get the Butternut Squash again. Btw - these pieces are HUGE. I had 2 Friday night and then a 3rd later in the evening and was SO.FULL. For 2 large pizzas and 2 salads, it came out to $62 with tip (free delivery though!). Easy, fast, delicious pizza place if you're looking for something different from a regular pizzeria. Slices are thin, crispy and relatively big. It's not greasy like a traditional pizza so well worth the $3 or $3.50. I keep coming back because they change the toppings so you can try something new! I love tomato sauce so I've never had the butternut squash, pesto or white sauce pizzas, but I heard they are really good. They have a mashed potato pizza which is really interesting and heavy, but worth every bite. The traditional cheese pizzas are good too and they have toppings like oregano, red pepper flakes and parmesan on the tables. I think the best part about this place is that you can also get beer, wine or pitchers with your pizza. I've been here several times--the service has always been shockingly friendly and the pizza is good. It is a little pricey for what you get, though, and I do wish they did just a regular pizza: the cheese pizza here is basically a white pizza with little gobs of sauce on the top. I did not enjoy this. Everything else I've had has been very tasty, though I will say somebody involved in this business thinks cauliflower is much better than it actually is. Seriously. I've come to this place a few times for lunch and have thoroughly enjoyed it. First off, there is no parking lot or reserved parking anywhere. Luckily, there are a slew of on-street spots on this section of Comm and I've never had a problem grabbing a metered space during the 11:30-2:30pm time frame. I can't vouch for evening availability, but lunch rush, you're good! The actual lunch options are great-- just as long as you're looking for slices of pizza. I believe they serve up a salad too, but I wouldn't know. What I do know is you can order slices of pizza from 6-8 different pies, all of which have been delicious (the tortellini and the bacon potato ones have been my faves)! At $3.50 a slice, this place won't break the bank. The slices are generous and well put together in terms of thickness and number of toppings. During the lunch rush, there hasn't been much of a rush at all. Ample seating means you don't have to wander around trying to find somewhere to eat. Can only review them based on delivery, not their actual establishment!! Have gotten two deliveries from this particular location. Both times it was pretty painless, once ordered by phone the other online. The first time ordered our pizzas arrived extremely fast! Got the tomato & basil and the apparently pretty popular bacon potato one. Was such a fan of the tomato & basil! Globs of riccota and fresh basil scattered throughout with a rich tomato sauce was great. I wanted to love the potato bacon one just as much but unfortunately I didn't. The flavor was great but it was just very dry, could be the lack of sauce but I wasn't a fan and if it had been creamier it would've been solid. Have also tried their sausage vidalia onion pizza, more onions on it than sausage for sure- but regardless quite tasty. Tip: order by calling and not online.. second time ordering we called after an hour to check on our order and the lady said their deliveries were backed up for 2 hours. Kind of crazy, but luckily after we called we received ours about 15 mins after the hour mark... So if you're in a rush or starving just call ahead to make sure they're not crazy busy. Wouldn't hesistate to order from them again, next time I will place my order through the phone and most likely get the Tomato & basil once again and perhaps explore a new flavor with the squash one. read more

It's a great option for takeout/delivery in Greater Boston for pizza night. Check out the monthly specials, which are often very good. The Fresh Pineapple, Bacon & Hot Honey is also a favorite. I used to think pineapple on pizza was weird, but I've bene converted. Very impressed with the quality of the delicious pear, arugula and blue cheese slice. I paired it with their special "Pizza" beer and it was delicious. Service was fast and friendly. The only thing I didn't really like about this place was that there was no parmesan cheese topping on the tables or counter area to put on your pizza. I love cheese and felt a little deprived. We ordered the Margherita pizza pie and the Butternut squash-crandberry-ricotta pizza! I only tried the butternut pizza and it was good! It tasted like a thin piece of bread with splotches of sweet (from the butternut) and savory (from the ricotta cheese). My only recommendation is that once you order the pizza eat it RIGHT AWAY when it its warm. I know it's kind of a obvious suggestion but I ordered the pies for takeout and then had to bring them to the other end of Boston (20 min). By the time i arrived at my destination the pizza was really HARD, FIRM, and like brick. It was hard to eat, but we were so hungry and there was no microwave or oven available.
