If I could give out Michelin stars, I would. From the moment I crossed the threshold until the time I stumbled out, it was a perfect night. The hostess was kind and sat us almost immediately. Our server ran that place like the military (complimentary). She was fab, the food was fab, everything was so fresh and hot and steamy. The place was kinda buzzing for a Tuesday night. A 100% improvement from our last visit. Everything was delicious and they were slammed. We sat at the bar as usual and they had two young ladies, Kelsey & Kaiden, bartending. Kelsey took our order and was very friendly and polite, Kaiden on the other hand couldn't be bothered. She walked past us no less than 8 times and never even acknowledged that we were there. I've been to this Outback Steakhouse several times over the years. This was actually the first Outback Steakhouse I ever visited. They have one of the VERY best Veteran's Day specials here so I really appreciate that! In the realm of chain restaurants I find Outback to be among the top tier compared to other spots. I find the food here to be of a much better quality when compared to other similar chains like Texas Roadhouse. The service here has always been really great while the ambiance has stayed consistent across all of the various locations of Outback Steakhouse I've eaten at. I generally stick to locally owned spots but when travelling you can always depend on good quality food, good service and an overall good experience at a good price at Outback Steakhouse. So tonight was experience that I would like to share and it wasn't necessarily about the food and service itself but the experience afterwards as we was waiting on the check another server walk by and drop a container I'm really not even sure what it was because I really believe I was in shock it had ranch in it went over my hair, my clothes, the seat , and backdrop on the bench this small amount had managed to get everywhere my daughter tried helping servers who yes apologize but try to make a joke out proceeds to try and wipe it out my hair, which is basically smudging it down into my scout now the thing is I just got my hair done today this morning 9:30 AM my $90 hairdo plus a tip is weren't because you just can't wipe ranch and it's not gonna still have a residue in there and although the manager stated oh let me give you my information so that he could pay for it. I wasn't interested in that. The one manager said oh I took care of the check, but as we were getting ready to leave she didn't proceed to say she took care of mine and didn't take care of the other two that was on the bill which one my daughters then when the server looked at me, I said it should've been all taken care of to be honest, it just should've been taken care of. She went to go talk to the other manager who came back apologized again then stated oh do I want his information so for the bill for my hair and I was very frank in my hair is expensive. It cost money to get my hair done. I wasn't interested then he said well. Can I give you guys some gift cards to come back next time, I said sure however I was under the impression that the bill was taken care of. I made the mistake of leaving my daughter and going to sit at the front because I'm disabled so it takes me a minute to steady myself and I was already overwhelmed from the situation as we're leaving. He did give $50 in gift cards. Our bill was probably about 90 some dollars my daughter gets to the car and tells me she paid the remaining bill which was about $36.00 And some change, I'm not sure what it was cause at that point I had really just tuned out when I'm saying I'm disappointed in how this whole situation ended. Double charged a third time in a row. I think I am done with this place. They gave me a raw burger. I sent it back and then they charged me twice for it. I did not order a raw burger. So in 3 different visits they've sent out a raw burger and three times in a row here they've overcharged me. The cook needs to learn to set meat out and let it come to room temperature before they cook it and then they won't wind up with a raw burger that's cold in the center. It took an extra 20 minutes for them to figure out the bill while I just sat there and stared at the wall. Learn how to use your POS system. It's not that difficult! It literally takes seconds on a POS system to reverse and rebill. If server cannot accomplish the task then the manager should be able to do it immediately. read more

Bill should have been $33 and change. When I receive my bill, it was $53 and change. It took them forever to figure it out and fix it and give me the correct bill. Then the two people that we were sharing a table with had the same problem where they were charged for 1 filet mignon, 2 sirloin steaks. The problem is that there were only two of them eating and they only ordered two steaks so they were charged for an extra sirloin. I guess we must've looked old and stupid and they didn't think we would look at our bills and then we would just pay them without looking.. this is the second time in a row that this has occurred with us so it seems like somebody's trying to run a scam at the restaurant. Make sure you look at your bill closely. The server was nice, but it took way too long to figure everything out and cost us an extra 30 minutes of our time while they tried to figure it out. read more

Disrespectful Owner/ manager , Won't Be Returning I've been to many Outback locations, but this was by far the worst experience I've ever had--solely because of the owner. The staff themselves were fine, but the problem started when I politely asked for the server's name since they weren't wearing a name tag. Before they could even respond, the OWNER himself swooped in, acting beyond entitled, and made sure I "knew" that his name is the only one that matters because it's on the door. The arrogance and complete lack of respect for customers was shocking. Instead of simply addressing the concern, he belittled me, made me feel small, and carried himself as if he was above everyone. It was an incredibly uncomfortable and unnecessary encounter. A restaurant is nothing without its customers and employees, yet this guy acts like he's doing everyone a favor just by existing. I honestly do not understand why people tend to underrate Outback restaurants. I have visited them across the U.S., and I have without exception found them to be extremely consistent in the quality of food, the quality of service, the professionalism of the staff, and the smoothness of their operation. As just one example: they have food runners bringing food out of the kitchen when it is ready to go. You don't have to wait for your server to bring you your food, and my food is hot. If there is a mistake, they will make it right. Servers have always been friendly when I have come in, most often on multi-day trips. No, it is not going to compete with the very top steakhouses, but you are not going to pay that level of price, either. My own experiences have been overwhelmingly positive at Outback restaurants. Tonight in Hattiesburg, Trainer Kelsey and Trainee Zander were fantastic, providing great service and pleasant interactions. Give Outback some love, people! read more

I don't even know where to begin. From the moment we walked in, it felt less like a dining experience and more like a warning sign we should've taken seriously. The owner was visibly berating the staff in front of customers--loud enough for the entire dining room to hear. Servers looked stressed, embarrassed, and overwhelmed. I felt awful even being there. The food took over an hour, and when it finally arrived, it was cold, underseasoned, and overpriced. But honestly, the worst part wasn't even the food--it was the energy. No one was smiling, not even the customers. The atmosphere was tense, uncomfortable, and completely unwelcoming. You could feel the dysfunction in every corner of the place. Watching someone in a position of power treat their staff like garbage ruined any appetite I had. It's hard to enjoy a meal when someone is being humiliated within earshot. I would never return, and I strongly encourage others to avoid this place until they treat their employees with the basic human dignity they deserve. Eat literally anywhere else. We had to ask for the bartenders to refill our drinks. I ordered a wallaby darn and was going to order another one but the bartenders never asked if I wanted another. We were traveling through and were hungry for dinner and decided to go to Outback.What a mistake this was. 1st off coffee was old and warm. My side salad was almost frozen as you can see from the picture. I asked the waiter why I had frozen cukes and he said "sometimes they don't thaw them all the way ". Someone needs to tell him it's supposed to be fresh. I suspect hopefully they are on their way out. My grilled chicken sandwich arrived and was delivered with honey mustard dressing that I simply hate. No beverage refills were offered. Waiter just dropped off the check before we were even done. This restaurant was extremely busy, and we had to wait about 30-45 minutes. The service was very quick once we were seated, and the food was great. My ONLY complaint was the baked potato was a little dry, and the steak was a little chewy. I had also ordered a potato soup as a side but forgot to take a photo. It was delicious. We were sat and proceeded to never be served. At least six servers walked by us and never even looked at our table, even though we tried to get their attention. The manager walked by three times and even looked at us, but after 15 minutes (at least from when we started tracking) with nobody even saying hi, we walked out. The icing on the cake was when the manager told us thank you as we walked out. One person in our four-person party said, "you didn't serve us at all," to confused looks all around. Visited Outback Steakhouse on 12/30/2023. Arrived at 6:00PM hoping to be seated in a reasonable time frame. Had tried several times earlier to get on a wait list if one existed. When we arrived were told there would be a 1 hour wait which we said OK. So, as I decided to walk to the restroom in anticipation of my wait when what do I see but empty tables (6 in this one area) cleaned and ready to seat someone. So when I come back I look on the other side with as many tables there sitting empty as well. I understand they say there is a workplace shortage of employees sometimes but this is ridiculous! They made every patron coming in wait up to 1 hour or more to be seated. The manager should have ramped up all persons in anticipation of a busy night. Instead, everyone was made to wait and wait due to this problem. Sorry but this just burns my butt! Yes, I could have gone somewhere else but I chose to eat there and once seated, food was on par as usual. Just my Rant although happens often. Hattiesburg is a college town and you can't tell me there are not students/ people willing to work. read more

I was excited to try their new Triple Layer Carrot Cake but it was a huge disappointment. I don't know what the icing is made of but it was tasteless and there was no hint of flavor in it, let alone cream cheese which is what icing is made of in traditional carrot cake recipes. I had dinner here last week and it's probably been 10 years or so since I ate at an Outback. Nothing really against the chain. I don't eat a lot of steak and when I do it's usually at a non chain type of restaurant. Located beside I-59 it is easy to get to taking the Hardy Street/Hwy 98 exit. It has its own parking lot. Walking in, I was quickly greeted by the hostess and my party was seated. The table ordered a blooming onion (of course) and I ordered a sirloin steak for the entree with mushrooms and a baked potato. The onion came out about 5 minutes later and then the steak followed by about another 15 minutes. The onion was a 3 in taste to me. The steak too however I felt that it didn't arrive at a level 4 score in my opinion. A 3 is a good score that means A-OK. I felt the same way about the potato it was good but again a 3. I liked the bowl of mushrooms better and gave them a 4. The brown sauce they were in was tasty. Table service for this meal was very good (4). I am giving an overall score of 3 because I believe it represents what you should receive coming here. I realize this restaurant is popular in Hattiesburg and I understand why. read more

The service is horrible! I went on a Saturday evening in town for a soccer tournament so everything is expected to be busy. We were told by the hostess it would be a 35 to 45 minute wait. So we sit outside because the lobby was packed. After about 30 minutes we walked inside to wait as the waiting area was cleared out. When we get to the door inside we are greeted by Caitlyn, who tells us sorry the system is down and no more service tonight. I said oh we already have our name on the list she said did we text you? I stated no and she again reiterated no more service tonight that the system was down and they are at a stand still. I asked Caitlyn when we're they going to tell us and she just looked at me. I was irritated that we waited 35 minutes to then get told no service. They were never going to tell us if we continued to sit outside waiting for a text. That's rude and not how to treat your customers! I can not comment on the food but the Customer service is no good and I honestly could not recommend this place to anyone to endure this type of behavior. The third time the manager brought it out to us apologizing. When we were sat there were 7 tables in our area dirty and empty. Our waitress did not give us plates with our cold bread or straws with our drinks. It took 15 minutes just to get a water. Our appetizer and meals were not brought by our waitress and she did not check on us one time. Literally. Not. Once. We had to flag her down for a box and the check when she took the order of the table next to us. Other then that she was never to be seen. Multiple manager dressed employees walked past us without a single word and it was clear they weren't just understaffed because multiple employees could be seen just standing around chatting with each other. Worst staff. Was there at 6:45 to get a 10 person table for my wife's birthday. Had a party from then till 8:30 and they close at 9:00 called us at7:45 that the table was getting clean for us. Waited and waited... then they came out and told us that they are still waiting for them to get up while they had to go boxes. Asked them if they can tell them that we were waiting and never got a response... they sat us down at 8:30 at two different tables, now you can't sit at two different tables where you can't see each other for a damn birthday party.
