After eating badly all thru the holidays, we came for a healthier dinner and had a really nice meal. Our server Taylor was so sweet, helpful and knowledgeable about the menu, so we were able to find the perfect meal combinations. Your typical outback. I ate here a couple of times while I was working in Key West, always at the bar. Met some really nice locals. Food is your typical outback: not phenomenal, but also not horrendous. Service is hit or miss. I will call out one bartender though, Gaby. On my last night in Key West I went & sat at the bar as usual.....for about 10 minutes while she talked with some friends & didn't even acknowledge me. The food at Outback has always been one of my favorites. On 4/13/21 we visited the only Outback in our area- Key West, FL. We were greeted by hostess and asked to be seated in bar booth. We were thrown a little plastic bag with small plastic utensils??? For steak? Our waiter was friendly- let us take our time (it was early and not packed at all). We asked if there was happy hour- the waiter didn't know. It used to be buy one / get one (house). He returned and said it was indeed happy hour but now it is 1/2 off house drink from 4-6 pm. I ordered a house white (larger glass) and my partner a pint of beer. We had a wonderful appetizer - and ordered the largest cut of Prime Rib so we could split. A few minutes later the "manager" came to table and said the Prime Rib was not ready due to oven problems. SO we have no working dishwasher and a broken oven! The manager convinced us to take the bone in Ribeye- we went home. We were charged $5.49 for our 1/2 price pint of Stella and $8.49 for my 1/2 price wine. In addition, there was no compensation for having to change our order- to the contrary they charged us MORE! Our alcohol outrageous- if $8.49 is half price that would mean regular price would be $17 for a glass of house wine- ridiculous. Non working oven, plastic silverware due to broken dishwasher, outrageous prices. A bad review for sure- we will not be dining in if we ever go back. Our server Lisa was great, but the food was not for the money we paid for. My husband ordered a lobster tail that was like a jumbo shrimp and filet mignon that they cut in half and folded over. Not worth the money! The inside of Outback restaurant has gone very down hill looking very poor looking. We went at 4 pm and didn't get our food until 5:10 pm and the place had hardly anyone in it! All the sides I asked for were not included, they forgot my daughter's drink, and they forgot to included the silverware I asked for. I don't usually leave a review but this experience was a disaster! Poor service was the majority reason for the moderate rating. Our waiter (I think Charles) had an attitude from the beginning but we gave him the benefit of the doubt that he may be having a bad day. He rarely checked on us and was very attentive only at time of checkout. Because of his poor service, we decided to tip him approximately 10% (which was more than what we wanted to give), however, he returned our tip and stated that it was too low. We will use that $ towards parking! Secondly, I ordered my steak medium-well and it was rare towards the middle and another steak was ordered medium-well and it was received well done. My steak was cooked to my liking around the edges so I ate the edge on one side. The manager stated that there will be no discount because I ate most of the steak and did not send it back. Service was quick...enough. Honestly, I am a bit disappointed with this location. The food quality was not as good as many other Outbacks I've been to. The steak wasn't as full flavored as normal and the temperature of our steaks was not on point; my boyfriends steak was overcooked (was supposed to be medium) and mine was a tad undercooked (was supposed to be medium rare). I'm normally sensitive about my steaks being cooked the way I asked but I'm honestly too tired to wait for them to do it again. I'll just leave this totally pathetic three star rating here instead. Went for lunch, they were slow to seat us. Server was friendly and nice. Placed order and got salads(salads were great) and bread. Food came relatively quick but burger wasn't cooked right, fish tacos were cold, coconut shrimp overbooked and baked potatoes were old and cold. Ask to have warm baked potatoes so they took and microwaved.... they were slightly warmer but still old. Manager did visit table and offered a fresh baked potato but was going to be a while since still in oven. Offered a dessert for table to share and took fish tacos off the tab.
