outback steakhouse, lindenhurst ny... after a 4.5 hour drive from upstate with my honey doreen boucher barnett horrific experience. over cooked meat sent back. sugar in my sweet potato when i asked for none. charged for more expensive wine... service took forever and bread came way too late... (waitress forgot) check before dessert which was part of the meal because they ran out... so they didn't bother to give us another choice, expecting us to just forget... and took 15 minutes to get a refill of my soda after i asked for it.... and at the beginning we were told a 30 minute wait even though there were plenty of empty tables, they told another couple 45 minutes... they left... and so should have we.... 2 and a half hour dinner! exhausting. read more

Today is my son's birthday and for his birthday he wanted to go out to eat. My son always wants to have steak and every year we go to Outback. Today was a big mistake! Where to begin? Well when we got there we sat in a booth with no utensils - (fine because of Covid ) We ordered drinks and my son wanted a cinnamon whiskey but they ran out of that so he ordered a different whiskey and it took about 15-20 minutes to get the drinks. Then we got our bread that they usually give with the butter with no knife no plates no utensils had to ask for them. Then the appetizers - one of the appetizers was a little bit soggy because they spilled the ranch dressing on the mushrooms but they fixed that by bringing a new order. Then came the piece the resistance that my son was waiting for filet mignon with lobster tail and mashed potatoes and when the dinner came out the fillet mignon was raw on the inside he was devastated, disappointed and upset! He showed the waitress how it was uncooked in the middle she took it away 10 minutes later comes a man with the same piece of steak and looks like it was over cooked. He complained to the man & tried to eat the filet mignon and it tasted horrible not to mention the mashed potatoes are now cold, but wait there's more - he found a hair in his potatoes ....ugh gross !! So lady manager comes and says she's comping part of the meal n will give us a couple of comp cards - when she brought the cards - they were expired!! OMG how many things were wrong here ? I have gone to this outback for many years. It 'USED TO BE GOOD" but it's gone way downhill ever since. I got Alice Springs Chicken as a take out order. It was supposed to be ready 25 mins earlier then they said! Waited forever, then ordered extra honey mustard sauce, did I get it? Nope, had to call up and asked for it again while waiting AGAIN in the car. The chicken was cold, tough and dry. Slicing it? It was more like sawing at it. The mashed potato were bland, no flavor what so ever I had to add parm cheese when I got home just to give it some flavor. The chicken did have flavor but what good was it when it was cold, tough and dry? If it wasn't for the honey mustard sauce, best part of the meal, I wouldn't have been able to eat it. I came to outback for a birthday dinner, the sirloin was absolutely perfect it was tender and cooked just how I asked. The server was very attentive with refills and extremely polite even sang happy birthday when dessert arrived. I got the strawberry parfait which was very good. This Outback is great! Don't go at night on the weekend because you'll never get in but the service is great, very helpful. The food and drinks are really good especially for a chain restaurant. I usually get the Outback special which is good, the cheese fries and bloomin onion are good, the New England Clam Chowder is good. I would definitely recommend this place. read more

Just visited Outback in Lindenhurst for the first time in a while and they really turned this place around! I got the ribeye and I added on a lobster tail. Came out perfect and the waitress was great. Management is very interactive and friendly at this location! The staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a A great night and we did! This was my second time at this location. Our first time here was on a Saturday it was super busy and the service was great for a Saturday night. Last night I was here again it was a Monday night and it was just terrible service. Our server was very rude and we were not even rude to him so I don't understand why he was acting like that. My chicken came out raw so I ask them to take it back. The food was good and the drinks were good. But I waited almost 30 for another drink he never came back to check on us to see if we need it anything else. When the guy brought my food again I ask the guy if he was the manager and said yes and I said I have been waiting for a drink for a while. He apologize and gave me the drinks for free. Our server brinks me my drinks and saids am sorry I didn't know you wanted more drinks but he had such an attitude. Like our you serious you never check on us how am I supposed to let you know. To begin, it took at least 10 minutes for waitress to bring bread, then we ordered cheese fries which arrived luke-warm-sent back to heat. Grandaughter ordered a burger with bacon and cheese-received a plain burger, my order of ribs were not hot. My husband and I went out to dinner last night to this Outback. We ordered steaks and the food was as usual very good. We have gone to this restaurant before in the past. We have two small children so this was a much needed break and a rare occasion for us. At the end of our meal we were about to order dessert when our waitress disappeared and the manager came over to our table with our bill in hand. She proceeded to tell us that we would no longer be served alcohol after my husband had four (4) beers. He requested a cordial (Zambuca) with dessert. The manager asked us would we still care to order dessert even though she already placed our bill on our table. She then turned to my husband and asked him if he was driving home. My husband is 6' 3 and about 300 pounds. I myself am a non-drinker. Both my husband and I were embarrassed to say the least and a bit taken back. This had never happened to us before. Not to mention our bill was over $100.00. This was a complete buzzkill to our seldom night out. Bottom line, we will never be patrons of this restaurant again. What a terrible let down ! 1 star is too much ! My family & I HAD enjoyed the food and service a few times in the past and HAD a fairly good opinion of the Lindenhurst location. I had worked in restaurants for 12 years and most recently had just returned from living in Afghanistan for the past 4 years, so I don't believe that I had unrealistic expectations of the food nor service. As long as the food is cooked and my children are happy then I am grateful. Last Sunday, August 16, I took my family to the Lindenhurst Outback for an early dinner at about 4 pm. When we arrived there were two tables being served and over the next hour and 10 minutes over 10 more tables were seated. The floors were wet / damp and slippery. The menus were sticky with some (food?) residue on each. The silverware was sticky & had some visible food residue on three of the pieces among us. We were introduced to our waiter and promptly ordered water as our drinks and ordered a blooming onion from the menu as appetizer and were told that the water and some bread would be brought out "right away"... this took about 8-10 minutes to arrive. The bread was 5-6 inches long and about 2 inches in diameter while the butter receptacle contained what can only be described as 1/10 of an ounce of butter .... all for 4 people ! When our waiter arrived at the table, I asked for more silverware which never came despite another request before we began eating I asked for more bread and it did finally arrive - 25 minutes later - I was told that the bread loaves were being heated and it was a special process that took some time and that I should be patient ! When we ordered our meal I asked and asked again for my chicken to be cooked well. I explained that even microwaved chicken was OK with me - but please cook it well. "No problem" I was told by our waiter. The blooming onion was small (about 5 inches diameter) and soaking wet with warm, smelly grease. Admittingly, my children ate it but even with the sauce I found it unpalatable. When the food arrived the portions seemed to have a lot of extra space on the plate. My chicken arrived pink on the inside and cold to the touch, when I asked for the waiter, the red shirted manager came over and asked "what's the problem" ? I then re-stated that I would like the chicken well done, whereby she explained to me that they are very busy and are doing the best that they can. I asked why the blooming onion was so small and she stated that "they are not in season" and that maybe "you should have ordered something else from the menu". She then asked "how is everything"? and at this point I told her that everything was fine and asked if I could please have a "to go" box for the chicken. "why" she asked, what's the problem ? I then told her about the wet floor, cold food and the lack of fair amount of bread and butter for 4 people and she raised her voice a bit and told me "Sir, I told you... we are very busy and we are having a rough day " Not wanting to cause an issue and feeling a bit embarrassed, I didn't say anything else and thanked her for coming by. Immediately up her leaving, our waiter then showed up and asked "how is everything" ? At this point, I told him that I had asked for the chicken to be cooked well and repeated my request for a "to go" box. The manager then again came over and asked "sir, what's the problem" whereby I replied that I was a bit disappointed with the food. She then asked "would you ever come to Outback again" ? and when I replied "absolutely not", she just walked away, visibly angry (in my opinion). What amazes me most about this visit is that none of the issues were addressed - not even "we are sorry" or "how can I help" I paid over $100 and left a pretty good tip, so I don't think that I am being stingy. All that I ask it that the manager's excuses are removed from the menu and that they remember why I came there in the first place. I don't like being cajoled, harassed or manipulated into saying an experience was good when the food and service sucked ! I mistakenly thought that they would offer an apology or "here is 4 free toothpicks - on us" ... something to make me think that this was just a rare experience, but after leaving HUNGRY I stopped at McDonald's on the way home. At least you get what you pay for there. read more

My bad experience started before I even got there. I call and ask if they have call ahead seating. The boy on the phone says yes the earliest I can give you is 730, my aunt interjects and says is there a wait when we get there? So I ask the boy on the phone and he goes "um yea like I said the earliest I can give u is 730" his exact words. So I give him the name and let it go. We get there and what do ya know... there was a wait! So we get our seat. Look over the menu the waitress comes and asks if we want something to drink, from jump I didn't really care for her demeanor she didn't even tell us her name lol (yea seriously). So I ask what flavor or lemonade they have she takes a deep breath like i'm bothering her and speed reads down the list. So i order the raspberry with no ice she goes um yea it's free refills so you don't need to do that. So i just repeated myself (again wtf?? just take my order, the reason i don't want ice is because i have sensitive teeth and I can't handle the ice) So I get the drink its like she put triple the amount of syrup in it just to screw with me. Then after she walks past us like 10 times without stopping we finally get to order our meals. We order, 80 years later our food comes. My chicken is warm not hot, my aunts "alfredo" is alfredoless and is just a pile of dry looking noodles swimming in oil with 4 shrimp next to it, and my mother has a french onion popsicle instead of french onion soup!!!!! Oh yea and I forgot that instead of the signature brown bread they always have which is the only reason I went to begin with. They gave us stale rosemary spiked bread. Tough steak....that is unacceptable. We went to Outback for the Wednesday special. For some reason the host didn't give us that menu??? We sat down and ordered a Blooming Onion right away. It took over 15 minutes to get it and then it was overdone (too brown and over crispy). We ate it and didn't complain since we were hungry The pecan blue cheese chopped salad....was not "chopped" and had a few minuscule tidbits of pecans. But they felt they could charge me an extra $1. The 6oz sirloin had a tasty outside but the first cut displayed grizzle and tough meat. Really ?? The manager came by as we were literally cutting, so he said he would stop back. He never did. I was not impressed that they could not give us a tender piece of steak when they serve them every day! My son's chicken was good, as were our side dishes. The server was very attentive, but he doesn't cook the food. We will not go back to this location Many empty tables and not enough help to seat the crowd in the waiting area. Worst service ever. It was so bad in fact, the people seated behind us felt compelled to express just how badly they felt at the experience we had. My wife, daughter, son and I, sat there while being blatantly lied to our faces about the status of our order. Having to ask for everything from silverware and napkins, to 'oh yeah, it's been so long I forgot I'm even supposed to get a salad'. A table of six had their order taken about the time I was attempting to ask for silverware and we sat there and watched as they were served their meal before us. When asked about the status of our order we were told the kitchen was backed up, they were really busy. Unfortunately I have eyes and a quick scan of the room told me that there were plenty of empty tables on this Wednesday night. And the poor quality of service continued having to ask multiple people multiple times for a dressing, and waiting for another extended period of time for our check only to have to hand it off to another server to be processed. I went to the outback Lindenhurst to watch World Cup game on a Sunday afternoon. They do advertise in a paper they have a Sunday happy hour all day. She said she didn't think they were doing happy hour.The bartender was waiting on a couple other tables had a wait to be served. I asked which beer was included in a happy hour and she said only bud light. Every beer I've gotten from this bartender has been short poured an inch or more from the top of the glass I believe she is instructed to do this. A real turn off. I was watching seven dollar and 50 Cent big bloke beers going out with four inches of foam on them. A total rip off. She never asked me if I wanted a menu. The wings are very good. There seems to always be a problem with the bill because the waiter or bartender has to go to the manager to adjust the bill. And you never know what you're going to get. At least have another choice of beer like a regular Budweiser a yingLing a paps blue ribbon etc. Instead of just light beer. And if you gonna pay for a pint of beer give me a pint of beer. My husband and I went to Outback Sunday April 29th after work. We were seated at a booth by the bar. We ordered the steak quesadillas as our app. When they arrived they were flat. There was hardly any steak and practically no cheese in them. The manager walked by and asked how our meal was so far. We showed her the quesadillas and she agreed they were poorly made. She offered a half portion to be remade. We declined. Just as our food was coming out the bartender decided to clean the bar with what smelled like ammonia. It was so strong I immediately got a headache and could smell and taste the odor from the cleaning solution. We told our waiter that we needed to move because of the smell. He moved us right away to another section and we started to eat our dinner. Then some other staff members decided it would be a good idea to clean the floor beside us. The manager came over and asked us why we moved. We told her about the smell in the bar which she could also smell. She apologized and offered us a free dessert to take home. We quickly finished our dinner asked the waiter for our check and asked for our dessert which the manager said was on her. He told us the kitchen was closed but he would see what he could do. He brought the dessert in a to go box. The dessert was frozen. I can understand staff cleaning up the restaurant but there's no need to use harsh chemicals while people are trying to eat. It was disgusting and hard to stomach. I called and left 3 messages at the corporate office of Outback Steakhouse and no one has had the decency to call back. We go to this restaurant on a regular basis this was the second bad experience in the past few months that we've had. read more

Wow! Hadn't been to an Outback restaurant in a long time. Got a gift card for a birthday gift and off we went, not sure what to expect. We live not far from the lindenhurst location, so that's where we went. Seated and had a waiter table side in less than five minutes! Very clean place, I might add. We are both 65 years old and appreciate good , quick , courteous service. They sent " Dan" to our table. Handsome, neat, pleasant, and obviously an excellent waiter. We told him we were not familiar with the menu. Then he did something you rarely see a waiter do.... He "squatted down", at the tables edge, so he was able to explain the items slowly and clearly! He made sure he kept looking from me to my wife, so we both felt included. How nice! The young man should be a "waiter trainer"! Hot, fresh, delicious coffee was in front of us within minutes! Great start, right? We ordered the steak and lobster tail, with a side of salads and amazing Mac and cheese, omg, and crispy potatoes, omg again! Hot delicious , tender steak and a wonderful lobster tail! The salads were great and a good size and don't let me forget, the. Hot brown bread and soft butter in a cup! We asked for more and there it was in minutes!! Now this was turning out to be a great birthday dinner! Dan the waiter made our experience at Outbacks soo very enjoyable ! The food was amazing, the restaurant was clean and nicely decorated, the restrooms were immaculate and the prices were great! After our meal, Dan asked if we would like any dessert, but we were quite full! When he handed us the charge slip to sign, we noticed that Dan, had handwritten "Happy Birthday!" On our receipt! Now after reading this review, you really should take your appetite and some friends or family or both over to the Outbacks in lindenhurst , NY. I rarely ever write reviews at all , but we felt that this birthday was made completely enjoyable by Outbacks and especially Dan, the waiter! Thanks again! Ps.
