P F Changs has gone downhill over the years. Both the food and service were average at best. When we arrived for a late lunch, most of the tables were empty but they sat us under the air conditioner unit which was slowly dropping all over the table. The waiter reassured me that it's just the air conditioner dripping without offering to move us to one of the many open tables. Eventually, I asked to be moved with the response of "I guess..." The food was overpriced and I've had better take out Asian food elsewhere. I won't be returning and I suggest going anywhere else. read more

There are few things I like doing better on Yelp than writing a good review for a chain restaurant; mostly b/c it flys in the face of the 'chaina-hata's'...yelper's who slag off any chain restaurant whatsoever, just for their mere existence as a chain...how utterly predictable, trendy and pseudo-intellectual of you. But I digress..... PF Chang's at Fountain Square: we went over the w.e as my sis and her husband were staying in Oakbrook Hills for a conference and they wanted some Asian. The wife and I have had luck w. PF Chang's downtown/Schaumburg and knew they had a decent menu selection and also a good atmosphere to sip some cocktails and have some conversation. It did not disappoint, and might I add, *another* virtue of "a chain": consistency, you know what you're getting so to speak. Lettuce wraps are a good choice for a starter, as are the spring rolls, and they have great sauces and sides to accompany each of those apps. We all ordered something different and mixed and matched, so we could try different things...although, admittedly, you won't find anything on the menu that's unique or strays from mainstream Chinese fare; but that's not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, the food is still good. All the dishes were tasty but the standouts were the kung pao chicken (I must commend PF Chang's on their (consistently) quality white meat chicken; never a "wtf was that" moment of a questionable bite of chicken?) and the Mongolian Beef. Wrapped up the meal w.a trio of small desserts and called it a night. Overall PF Chang's was straight up Alton Brown, that is to say: Good Eats. read more

Gosh I looove P.F. Chang's...I have been to the one downtown, Orland, Woodfield, and now Lombard location. I had been craving PF Changs for weeks now so I didn't care about waiting 45-60 minutes for a table on a Saturday evening (Call in for reservations to avoid the long wait). I patiently waited while checking out their updated menu. I already knew I was getting the lettuce wraps...I ordered the chicken wraps this time but I think I like the Vegetarian/Tofu better...even my husband (a carnivore) agreed. We also ordered Steamed veggie dumplings....I rather have them fried...but we were trying to be "healthy". I had their chicken fried rice for the first time and loved it. There was sooo much I was able to have leftovers the next day. Also their Mongolian beef is the best. I didn't have any but I had some of the sauce....looking at it made me miss red meat. :-) I also tried some of their garlic noodles...I am not a fan of garlic but they were still very good. After a crazy feast we still decided to have a little dessert. We ordered some peanut butter chocolate cake...I don't like chocolate cake but I still ended up tasting it...and well it was a good dessert choice. There has actually been a time I did not like what I ordered at PF changs. Which is why I like ordering new things every time. There are soooo many options to choose from! read more

I'll never understand how people continually slam this place - It's official, I heart PF Changs - and I always order the same things! I start off with their egg drop soup, which I adore. Sometimes I order the crab wontons - delicious! Love the dipping sauce that comes with it. I ALWAYS get the mongolian beef - I love it so much because there's a sweetness to it that just makes it to die for. I absolutely have to have chicken fried rice on the side - best ever! I don't dine-in as often as I do take-out - I work in Aurora and live in Westchester, so if I call when I leave work to place my order, it's ready by the time I get to Lombard, which is a huge plus :) read more

Was always curious about this place as I pass it every day as I travel to and from work and was more than happy to give it a try when my friend said that's where she wanted to go to celebrate her birthday. The restaurant is ample and atmosphere was spot on. Our waiter was very attentive, honestly a little too attentive , as he kept coming to our table every couple of minutes to ask if everything was okay, if we needed anything and although I very much appreciate great customer service I felt this was a little much since he kept interrupting our conversation. For example when he brought us our drinks, I ordered a coke, he came back up 5 minutes later to ask if I needed another soda. I had barely even started to drink the first one he brought me. Lol Now on to what everyone cares about, the food. I was really wanting to like this place since each plate was about $17 average. I though my tastebuds were gonna be in for a treat, I was disappointed. The food was nothing more spectacular then any other Chinese food I had tried at smaller and much cheaper locations. Our table ordered the Mongolian beef, orange peel chicken, and another dish I can't remember the name of but it was noodles and shrimp. I won't say that any of it was bad because it wasn't but it was just slightly above par and at an average of $17 a plate I'm not exactly compelled to come back and try more. I've only been to PF Chang's a couple times, but the other visits were great. This one really disappointed. The main dish of lamb was wonderful, but seemed like it was missing a little something. The crab rangoon was alright. I would easily give our food three-four stars, however, the service was awful. Our waiter took his sweet time. We sat around waiting to order drinks, sat around waiting for refills and sat twiddling our thumbs to give our food order. He plopped down the sauces and didn't explain them, nor did he appear to even attempt to mix them to our liking. Chances are I won't try it if I can't be sure that it won't burn my tastebuds off. Just blah. Same situation with the main course. It was dropped off and he vanished. No questions, no small talk. He was in and out like he had a million other tables to wait on. Funny thing is we were pretty much their only customers at that time. And we never did get our refills. read more

Hate to give a low starred review to of my frequented chains, but this location is not giving Chang's a good name. I have been to several different Chang's and I go to the Schaumburg location OFTEN. The service was not bad, but the cooking was totally off. My friend always orders the dumplings and never has she once recieved them under cooked. I could tell just by looking at them that they were dry, they looked like plastic. The server was very nice and got her another order...unfortunately they were not any better than the first. My friend didn't want to make a big deal so she just let it go at that point. I ordered the kung pao scallops, which unfortunately were over cooked. I decided not to say something since my friend's order had already been ruined twice I figured even if I sent them back it wouldn't get fixed. Not to mention we would seem like we were complaining about everything. I will not be returning to this location, I'm gonna have to stick with Schaumburg. I did notice that this location was exceptionally quiet compared to Schaumburg, not as busy....and maybe now I know why. There are many other restaurants to go to in this area if need be. read more

I'm really surprised by some of the reviews posted here. You should't compare P.F. Chang's to your local chop-sloppy shop. Look, I'm the first to admit that if I want CHEAP, GOOD, QUANTITY, I'm headed to East China Inn (N. Aurora) before anyone else, but at some point, P.F. Chang's caters to an older crowd who is probably not as adventurous, who aren't afraid to spend a little money. I've never had a bad meal at a P.F. Chang's and frankly, how authentic it is isn't that important to me. I want good quality for a fair price with excellent service. P.F. Chang's delivers on two of those all of the time. Service can be spotty depending on how busy they are and that's unfortunate. MK and I headed to P.F. Chang's to meet up with her parents (VERY PICKY and NOT ADVENTUROUS) after we stopped off at Lord & Taylor (02/09/08). We arrived early (4:00pm) and were seated right away. Absolutely it gets crowded and the wait sucks, that's what happens at these places, although I did see a new sign that stated that they took call-aheads now and reservations. I didn't take a look to see if there were any asterisks next to that. We ordered the chicken w/lettuce wraps appetizer (so overdone now at EVERY restaurant that they really should come up with something new) and I had a cup of the Egg Drop soup. MK's parents also ordered the Vegetable Spring Rolls. Although the spring rolls were a little on the small side, her Mom and Dad enjoyed them. For main courses, we had a Mongolian Beef, Chang's Spicy Chicken, Almond & Cashew Chicken and a Shrimp in Lobster Sauce. Everyone's meal came hot and not a person had a bad meal. In fact, for very picky people, her parents were very happy with what they got. In fact, they are going to visit the new one in Orland Park later this week with other friends of theirs. They do have a new dessert trick and unfortunately they are hopping on the bandwagon that I'm starting to see at many restaurants and that is the $2/shot glass of desserts. It's unique (they have 8 options) but I do think it's a bit overdone already. We ordered a few of those as well as one "great wall of china" chocolate cake that is just so big that it can feed a family of six. Bill was $113.00 for the four of us and that included 2 large beers (Asahi 22oz.'s). If you think that's expensive than I guess you need to stay at the local chop-sloppy shops, but liquor, appetizers, mains and desserts for $30 a head is actually a damn deal. Lastly, there were many groups of teens there this day who were out eating before a school dance. I would imagine that they had a good time as well as this was their "nice" place to eat before their event. Sorry so many of you have bad experiences, but I've never had and this is probably the 4th location I've visited. If you DO like P.F. Chang's, watch out for Pei Wei coming to your neighborhood. It's the P.F. Chang's menu but served in a style similar to Go Roma (order at a counter and then it's delivered to your table). It is part of the franchise. Meh. it was ok, IMO. I was a little confused by the amount of "ground chicken," in everything. Chicken that goes through the food processor and gets added to everything? I guess it's easier than chopping it by hand. It was a little weird to me. The spring rolls were a very good appetizer, the wonton soup was huge and pretty good, and the chocolate dome dessert was awesome. I had enough noodles left over from my entree to eat for at least three more nights. I liked the lettuce wraps as well, though it came with more ground chicken, same as my entree. Our waitress was kinda out there. She needed to elaborate on everything, interrupting conversations way too often (and saying loudly, no no, please keep talking) to give these long-winded speeches. With these, she included elaborate hand motions, as though she were doing some sort of interpretive dance, and proceeded to go on with these every time she reached across the table. I'm all for attentive service, but when she needed to explain how she mixed the sauces for us while doing an interpretive Dance of the Seven Chili Peppers of the Lost World, my whole family got a bit annoyed. Really, honestly, truly just okay. The lettuce wraps alone would totally skew PF Chang's rating as this appetizer is what seems to sail a thousand ships. I'm not disagreeing with this claim, but the entrees and desserts leave me a bit stranded on the island with a rumbling stomach. Their vegetarian section of the menu is about a quarter of the page--impressive! Seriously, giving me more than two options already earned some stars in my book. The atmosphere is classy, chatty, dimly lit and great for dates. This place really packs in a tight crowd with a line out the door to prove it. I feel like each sentence I write deserves a "but" or "except" and I'm not fully satisfied writing this until I divulge my true feelings. PF Chang's is all talk and no walk. They've made a name for themselves with lettuce wraps and a classy look. Living in Lombard, I can understand the appeal. However, Oak Brook is just down the road with some real winning restaurants. The entrees weren't really any better than a fast food Chinese restaurant, and the desserts were just awful. The presentation of the desserts are cutely displayed in small glass cups with layers of what tasted like pure sugar. There is no real flavor, and your lasting memory of this dessert will be the charming presentation and your diabetes medical supplies. If it weren't for the gift card, I wouldn't have come back. read more

This restaurant is a great ambassador for Chinese food with excellent alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks (Strawberry Cucumber mashup) that makes my tastebuds tingle. If you have non-Asians who have never experienced the flavor and spices of Asia, this restaurant is a good introduction and they will feel welcome here among the crowds as you will notice no Asians eat here due to the high franchise price lol. (And there's gluten free options for you special peeps!) The Mongolian Beef, Lettuce Wrap, and Garlic Noodles creates a sensual feeling in my tummy that brings back feelings from my Asian Homeland. Came here for post-mother's day celebration the following Monday around 1pm. The restaurant was empty but somehow we still weren't waited as much as we're used to. We had to ask to get refills, twice! It was our first time there and asked the server what he recommended and he just said it was like any other Asian restaurant and we were back at square one. Fantastic Gluten Free Menu! Not only can you get many menu items prepared Gluten Free, but they also have a gluten free soup, dessert and BEER! Also, a very, very important part of serving Gluten Free dishes in a Restaurant.......they actually prepare all Gluten Free items in 'separate' woks to avoid cross contamination and serve them in specially marked bowls and dishes. The Gluten Free menu selections are many and varied because they have gluten free soy sauces and even gluten free pot sticker sauce that is used for their Beef menu items. I tell you when I first had to eliminate all gluten from my diet and had suffered for a few months with not being able to either order anything out at a restaurant or 'modifying' it so much that it tasted horrible, I was so excited to dine at PF Chang and have such a great selection of gluten free dinners. My first meal there I had the Gluten free Beer and Flourless Chocolate Cake.....and cried with joy! read more

PF Chang's gets a solid 4 stars from me, solely from the merits of our server, Nancy. Along with the rest of the support staff, she was awesome start to finish. Attentive, friendly, not intrusive at all. She's everything I enjoy about serving and being served. Oh yeah, they have food here too. It's good. Not the best I've had, but it's solid. I got the orange peel beef, cooked with red chilies and fresh orange peel. I was expecting spicier, but it didn't pop like I had hoped. It was also reaaaally saucy, and so in turn, pretty salty. Plus the white rice tasted like it had been in the kettle a bit too long. But a little red chili oil (included tableside) did the trick. Dragon Inn North still holds the title for best orange beef, so far. I got a chance to try a little bit of the egg drop soup, and it was delicious! bursting with flavor. i could've done without the mushrooms, but i guess i could get over it. Overall, good stuff. Now that I've been here, I'll probably only return before 4pm and stick to ordering the special lunch bowls, especially the Cashew Chicken. Value-priced and generously portioned, lunch bowls are the best food value on the whole menu. read more

Changs, I'm sorry I passed you up in Vegas for some gross "Asian fusion" food, it won't happen again. Promise. First and foremost you HAVE to start with the lettuce wraps. Even if you're not into lettuce, trust that you will love them. Or get the pot stickers. Better yet get BOTH!!! If you're going with a group I would recommend getting 2 or more dishes to share. My favorites include: Chang's Spicy Chicken - delicious pan fried tender crispy chicken pieces in a spicy sauce; Kung Pao chicken - with red hot peppers; Mongolian Beef and the Mu Shu. Orders comes with brown rice but you can opt for some of their awesome noodles. The service isn't always great but I'm not there to chit chat with the wait staff. PS. They're gluten free! read more

They increased the prices since the last time I came here. The menus look different ... "classier," if you will. Things on the menu are pretty much still the same. Salty noodle dishes, but the other dishes seem to be pretty good, especially if eaten with rice. The ONE thing I love about this place is the banana spring rolls. I love coconut pineapple ice cream! I love how people get upset when a restaurant is busy. Hell, if it weren't busy it would go out of business and you would be shit out of luck. I absolutely love their food! I get a bottomless stomach when I eat here. I have to start with the lettuce wraps and spring rolls. The hot and sour soup is awesome too. Then I usually follow with the shrimp chow mein which has a great flavor and has tasty vegetables in it. Then for dessert I follow with the banana spring rolls which have a crispy covering and they are served with coconut -pineapple ice cream and caramel and fresh berries... At this point I can't breathe but who cares it was all worth it. Whatever is left I take home and I hate leftovers but, if its PF Chang's I will eat it. I have to stop talking about it because I won't be able to get it out of my head until I go there again. read more

It's hard to find a bad thing to say about PF Chang's-- other than perhaps they're predictably predictable. Pretty and friendly staff? Check. Consistent food? Check. Loud music and big crowds? Check, check. Like all the other PF Chang's I've visited in many a city, the food is good, it's served fast (and hot) and the waiter always mixes your spicy mustard, chilli and soy sauce in must the same way (always mild, even when you ask for it spicy). My husband loves this place which is why whenever we go to the US and there's a PF Chang in the vicinity, we seek it out. He always orders something with a lot of meat and I always go for seafood or a veggie option. And of course, chicken lettuce wraps are a must. Lombard was no different-- although super crowded for a weekday! Very family friendly (i'm guessing the suburban location helps), they didn't even blink at the food on the floor or occasional outburst from the littles that made up our party (although some of the other diners were none too keen-- but we don't care about them). In all, happy to carry on our quest to visit every PF Chang's in the US. read more

I went here for my mom's birthday on a Friday night. I'm glad we got reservations because this place was packed! We had a large table for about 10 people and people who got there early snagged a seat at the bar for some drinks. They enjoyed theirs. Because I didn't want to make the bill complicated, I had my husband order our drinks from the bar. A few minutes after he gave me my drink a server came by asking for my ID. That didn't bother me, but I guess they really watch out for that stuff. I had a mojito and it was terribly flat. I had the waiter replace it. Overall, the food was satisfying and came out quickly. The service was great but, sadly, the meal could have been better. Our waiter, Jim, was attentive and constantly refilled our water glasses, which I appreciated. The salt & pepper calamari appetizer was okay but nothing special. I've had better calamari at other places. It was served on a bed of rice noodles. My companion liked their shrimp with lobster sauce but I was not impressed with my Buddha's Feast. I thought it was odd that it was served without any rice or noodles especially they didn't offer a bread basket, being an Asian restaurant. I also thought it was odd that, even though I ordered it steamed rather than stir fried, it had no seasoning whatsoever. It was very bland and dry. We split "The Great Wall of Chocolate" (cake). We went here on a Friday night with a couple of our friends last week and my review in one line is: I will probably be coming back. Word of warning to some, if you don't like a loud restaurant - don't come here on a Friday or Saturday night. It was VERY loud inside at 7:30pm which was a little irritating at first because we could hardly hear one another talk, but the crowd thinned out as the night went on and the volume level dropped to a more reasonable volume (just channeled my inner "Office Space" there). I had the Honey Chicken and it was phenomenal. You know how at some cheap Chinese takeout places the chicken chunks have a lot of fat on them? Not so here, the chicken was chicken through and through and the glaze was REALLY good. My wife had the salmon which disappointed her greatly, but I'm not sure ordering salmon at a Chinese place is a good call to begin with. The bill was really pretty reasonable, we had a couple of appetizers, 6 alcoholic beverages combined and 4 entrees and the total was right around $120 before tip - not bad for 4 people. I really enjoyed the food and I think the next time we come, it'll be in the middle of the week when there's less of a crowd. read more

Ordered carry out for lunch 4/28/22 and decided to check my order in the car. Discovered the egg roll was missing. Went back in to advise the hostess who went to the back and peered over the counter where she she found my egg roll sitting in the pagoda box. She attempted to close the box but it wouldn't close so she pressed it down with her bare hand and closed the box then handed it to me with a half-sincere apology. The long beans are a great add, since few of their meat dishes come with little-to-no vegetables. Their tropical drinks are also a good add, but not cheap. The missus and I met up with friends for dinner on a Wednesday night. I would say the place was about 30% full at around 6:30, which was good for us because we knew we wouldn't feel rushed. Appetizers were all good. We had the Dynamite Shrimp, veggie spring rolls, and orange-ginger edamame. Main courses were equally delish, consisting of Singapore Street Noodles, chicken pad thai, veggie pad thai, and lettuce wraps. Finished off the meal with banana egg rolls. Chang's is a large chain of American-style Chinese fast casual restaurants, typically located alongside larger high-end shopping centers and along trendy suburban restaurant rows, and often very busy. The Lombard location is as typical a P.F. Chang's as you'll find anywhere, for all the good and bad that come with it. GOOD: Like any casual restaurant experience, dining at P.F. Chang's is what you make of it, and there is also some luck involved. If you are seated right away, get good service, and order the right food items from the menu, you could end up having a very enjoyable experience . The menu is safe and approachable, so it's a good place to take the family if there are very old or very young people in your group. The stir fried spicy eggplant is, in my opinion, the most outstanding menu item -- perfectly sweet and spicy. If you have vegetarians in your party, they may enjoy the lettuce wraps. My wife is gluten-sensitive, and enjoys the separate gluten-free menu. The house-made ginger beer (non-alcoholic) is the best ginger ale I've ever had at a restaurant. If you plan ahead and make reservations and adjust your expectations - and luck out with good food and service - you will probably have an enjoyable experience, as I have on many occasions. BAD: P.F. Chang's (this and other locations) are typically very crowded and chaotic right around the time you want to have dinner. Even if you thought ahead and made reservations, or otherwise get lucky enough to be seated right away, you may still feel like you are in a crowded airport terminal before the holidays. These conditions will sometimes impact quality of service. It can't be helped with such a large, busy dining room. I've had my order screwed up many times, and I can always tell that the delivery chain from kitchen to expediter to server can be stretched thin. Most disappointing for me personally is the ordinary-ness of most of the menu. P.F. Chang's is constantly innovating their menu offerings with a lot of exciting-looking items. But most of them don't taste very interesting to me. Even basic staples such as orange chicken are kind of... blah. If you want to have a good P.F. Chang's dining experience, you should stick with the food items you know from experience are to your liking - or just get lucky. Sometimes your server will offer helpful advice, but not always. No way to tell. OVERALL: If you are in Lombard with one or more picky eaters in your group, and you want something other than the usual Du Page county hamburger offerings, P.F. Chang's may be a good option. But if you are feeling a bit more adventurous, there are better options even around Lombard. read more

One of our favorites! The PanAsian decor and open ceiling design makes it a fun And casual place to dine. The food is fantastic (I recommend the chicken lettuce wraps). They waiter will mix a dipping sauce for you right at your table. Custom made to your level of spiceossity! The staff is attentive and helpful with suggestions if you need them. I know this strip on Butterfield has lots of good options with Champps, Weber and Uncle Julio's, but give PF Changs a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

I love PF Chang's, I've never had a bad experience. And I go there all the time! They have a Chang's card that helps you save 10% on every bill. There is always something on the menu, that you can eat and enjoy. Despite your diet. Vegetarian, Gluten free, etc. I suggest to anyone. Trying there banana egg roll dessert with homemade coconut ice cream, drizzled caramel and mixed berries. It's so scrumptious! And if your on a budget, The 2 for $40 deal is a good deal. Five years of going to this location after moving back to the Chicago area and today's visit was beyond disappointing. My pad Thai had what felt like a piece of a shell that got caught in my throat while eating and wouldn't go down. So it was not the food or any allergies that where the problem. The shell triggered my gag reflex causing an accident in the bathroom. The problem was the lack of concern or disregard of the staff with this manner. The well being of one of their customers seemed to be a major inconvenience to them. To add insult to injury my issue prompted the, 'We will be glad to comp your meal for or give you free desert.' A little care or concern would have been nice we were not trying to get a free me out of you. My wife is a physician and I am a college professor and their responses were unfortunate. We simply paid the bill for our 4 person party and left. We will not be returning. I hope that in the future your management and staff can do better. You have to do better. read more

Hit the place on an early Friday....about 4-ish. Not too many people there, so we had prompt seating and a great server. First thing that hit me was the music. LOUD! And strange choices for an Asian themed restaurant. It made us want to eat fast and get OUT.(perhaps that is the intent?) Husband and I ordered the dinner for 2, which includes soup, appetizer, 2 entrees and a dessert to share. Good price, so we bit. The spring rolls, although tasty, were really greasy. And no other sauce to try except for a small thimble of one type of sauce...no Chinese mustard. Soup was average. (egg drop) We had the Singapore street noodles and the chicken lo mein. They both lacked something...were a bit on the dry and flavorless side. There was very little curry flavor in the street noodles, one part looked almost burned, and therefore,I was under-impressed. read more

This was my first time at PF Changs. My experience was awesome. We ordered the lettuce wraps as an appetizer and had the BlackBerry martinis with her asshole wonderful. My meal was the surf and turf and my husband got the honey shrimp. Service was impeccable as our waiter Jordan was awesome and went the extra mile. For dessert, I got the fried bananas and coconut pineapple ice cream, my husband got the butterscotch putting. Again... A plus. Will definitely be returning to PF Chang's!!! read more
