So I've grown to appreciate this place since moving to Austin. Plus, I honestly think the burgers have improved. The fries still need work. But in any case, the breakfast is *wonderful*. I got an egg burger with ham and a piece of banana bread. The egg burger was delicious, made right then and with quality ingredients. And cheap too. The banana bread doesn't have any nuts, which is a bummer. And it's not quite as moist as I like my nana bread to be, but it was still good. My Oj was delicious and probably freshly squeezed. Have you ever loved a place so much that it pains you to even take 1 star off of the review? No?!?!? Well then we are on a whole different level. P. Terry's a 5 star establishment, I have been to 4 different locations and they are all great but this one just isn't as great as the other 3. (other 3 being William Cannon, Barton Springs, and North Lamar). The quality is just a bit off here, and I don't think it is the product I think it is the employees. The fries have a tendency to come out either cold or old and I have gotten the wrong order a couple of times. These things do not prevent me from coming here but it is not the gold standard I have come to expect from P. Terry's. Pros: Location. Right off 71 and Congress, and maybe this leads to the issues I have had here because they are always busy. Hours. Open til 3 am on Friday and Saturday (nice because now I don't have to deal with the drunk foot traffic at Barton Springs). Food. 99% of the time it is spot on and amazing. Cons: Service. They can be slow as hell even when they have both lanes open and as I mentioned before it appears to have some slacking in the kitchen. I will be back due to convenience and location but I sincerely hope they eventually get this location as consistent as the other locations in town. read more

The reason why I am giving this place a 3 is because the service sucks!! Every time I go inside thinking I'll get quicker service, I don't. They pay sole attention to the drive thru since its always busy. I get it, I worked at sonic for 4 years. It does get very hectic. But you can't forget about your inside guest. You should probably hire more people so you can satisfy all your guest. Also, when I stated I wanted everything on my veggie burgers, he thought I meant everything as in also adding pickles and onions. Which I never said that. Then I had have him re-make them and he still left the pickles on. It's really not that hard. He was choosing to not listen which really frustrated me. Now I know to only go through the drive thru. As a big fan of P.Terry's I was excited to know that when I recently moved into this area there would still be one near by. I've been to this drive-thru only location several times now, and while it's fine, it's not as great as the other locations. The double line is something I'm used to from other places, but they don't seem to have it running smoothly here yet. The employees are ok but not as friendly as the wm. cannon location. I've also had my food seem a bit stale on two different trips, not terrible, just not the freshness I"ve become accustom to. A pleasant surprise! Randomly went here to just check it out and I'm pleasantly surprised. The burger: I ordered the cheeseburger and it was delicious. Its on the small size but it was just the right portion. The meat was cooked right. It was juicy and fresh. The special sauce is amazing The Fries: THE FRIES! the FRIEEEESSSSS!!!!! Amazing!! Look, the food at P. Terry's is amazing when you get it right. I've been to this location in particular many times because it is a normal route to my job. I have had a couple of occasions where my meals have been messed up. Let me tell you, if you become a regular, and they mess up your food more than once, don't expect cooperation. The first time I had an issue I was told they would mail me a gift card...I waited a couple of weeks and finally texted back to let them know I haven't received it. When they replied they confirmed my address, that they got incorrect. I even went back to make sure I wasn't at fault. They told me they would reship. I never received them so I texted again...they finally said I could just get them from the store so I did. I went back several times after and they accidentally messed up my order. So I texted the number and I guess they still had my number because they texted back and addressed me by name. When I explained the situation I never got a response. I tried to follow up multiple times but I never received a response back. I finally emailed corporate and also haven't received a reply from them either. The food is great, the customer service and wait time, especially at Ben white location is really bad. read more

Banana Bread is a huge disappoint, it was served cold and tasted bland and dry like too much baking powder in it. Great drive-thru experience recently! Food is as good as always and this location definitely met my comfort level with regards to COVID precautions. With all the windows, it's easy to see that all employees wear masks. The interaction at the window went well too. The employee extended a basket at a safe distance to drop my payment. He sanitized my credit card, swiped it and sanitized it again before returning to me. Great example of adjustment during these times! read more

Every now and then we need a burger fix and we typically go to P. Terrys, It's fast food and they are so far ahead of McDonald, Wendys, etc - there is no comparison. They are certainly not perfect, but the food is generally really, really good. I never order the fries! Why? They give you too many and I end up eating every last one ;-( So I just steal a few from co-workers ;-) I tried the veggie burger - not my favorite - but I don't like veggie burgers anywhere. Ok why does everyone rave about this place? I don't get it! Lets start with the service...I don't know how things are ran here but when we drove up THREE guys took our order, well one wrote it down while the other two hung out with him. We drive up to the window and there are 5 people inside doing nothing and it took FOREVER to get our three burgers and two fries. At least everyone was nice. Now I appreciate good burgers and I do not mind waiting for a freshly made one. But these weren't even juicy or off-the-grill hot. And the fries were TERRIBLE. Maybe I'm not used to "healthy" fries but these had no flavor, were teeny tiny and tasted chewy. Like they weren't properly cooked. I basically drowned the few I ate in ketchup to achieve some flavor. The burger was ok. It wasn't bad but it wasn't brag worthy, if I never go here again I'm not missing out. I liked the special sauce (which may have just been mayo+ketchup mixed together) and they have really good pickles. But Five Guys uses the same (or similar) pickles and I'd much rather go there. The lettuce and tomatoes tasted fresh and crisp. I'm giving three stars because the burger was decent, but the fries and service were bad. A new P. Terry's opened up near my apt on N. On the road out of Austin, we stopped at P. Terry's to determine if it lives up to the hype. I'd basically say it does. First thing to remember: this is not a fancy burger joint, so don't expect it to be. It's fast food with prices on par with Wendy's, McDonald's and Burger King. The difference is, this place is a lot more unique and the food is significantly better. When we got there, there was quite a long line of cars, but it still took less than 15 minutes from getting in line to receiving food. The fresh squeezed lemonade was really good (you ain't finding that at Whataburger, I guarantee) and I enjoyed the burger far more than a Whopper or Big Mac. I wasn't in love with the fries but they weren't bad -- no major complaints. I say pass up McDonald's across the street and go to the P. Terry's drive through instead, but if you're looking for gourmet, go to Your Mom's Burgers. read more

In no way am i saying their food is nasty but more like disappointing. After hearing and reading all the hype about this place i decided to finally try it out. I ordered the double cheeseburger with extra "special sauce" and fries (canola oil had me intrigued). To keep it short it didn't live up to the hype the burger was bland despite having extra special sauce and the fries were just bad (greasy, soggy, and needed salt). If this was a review on just customer service then it would be a 5 stars all day but the food was just so disappointing and so bland I have to give it just 2 stars. Burgers need some love read more

UPDATE: Super impressed. I left the review below with 3 stars but I have to change it. After posting the below review someone from PTerry's management actually reached out to me with a sincere apology, told me about the frozen vegan burgers they sell at Whole Foods, and sent me $7 so I could try those out for free. Woah. Super blown away. Just got the $7 check in the mail today. Way to go PTerrys. Can't wait to try those vegan burgers. I really hate leaving bad reviews but I just can't overlook this one. My husband and I are vegan and recently moved to Austin. We heard good things about Pterry's and decided to go and see if their veggie burger was vegan. I asked the employee if it was and he enthusiastically said yes. So we've been eating the veggie burger without cheese for about 5 months, to discover today, by another employee that the veggie burger is in no way vegan. It contains cream, egg, and cheese in the burger. Super bummed. They offered me a refund, and I'm glad they told me, hence the 3 stars instead of 1. But I guess I learned my lesson... Getting in and out is a bit of a hot mess, but it's worth it. Even at lunch rush, you move through pretty quickly (two lanes!) just be careful if you are in lane one you don't run over the runner ;-) Believe it or not, I pass on the bun, the chocolate chip cookies, the fries, the buttered pecan shake...but I'm sure all those things are great. P Terry's is one of my favorite burger joints. The meat is fresh and hormone free, the french fries actually taste like potatoes and they give my dog a treat if they see him in the car with me. My last trip to P Terry's I did something a little different, I tried the veggie burger. I was not disappointed, the burger is their own veggie patty recipe and it was fantastic. I believe my expectations were set way too high, not just by their Thrillist.com rating but by many friends who rave about it. I've been neglecting writing this review about P. Terry's. I have been to the Lamar location and the Ben White Location. Both gave the same great service. The burgers are thin, but taste great. I am a double cheeseburger girl with everything no mayo. The doubles are doable here because the meat is very thin. The burgers here taste fresh. My only complaint here is the fries. They are skinny and grease laden pieces of fried starch. Please P. Terry's , at least make it worth the calories for me to eat your fries! After giving them a couple of tries to make a decent french fry, I have given up ordering them. I will go out of my way to buy waffle fries from Chik-Fil-A and then swing up the street to P. This is pretty much it for a drive-through fast food hamburger restaurant in Austin. The line at this location can get out of control but the staff will create a second line to keep you moving. I avoid this place during rush hours but I also don't eat fast food all that often. P. Terry's isn't In-And-Out Burger but it's just about as close as you're going to find in Austin. Be sure to ask for onions and pickles! (I love vegetables on my hamburger and they even offer wheat buns.) Also, with the amount of fries that they serve, the single patty burger is more than enough food. I'm glad to have a solid alternative to national fast food chains nearby. read more

(especially the ben white location): 1) Highest quality fast food burger I have had with a consistant and great taste 2) They always have friendly and happy employees. 3) All natural beef, some organic produce, and generally natural menu items (except for things like soda with HFCS). 4) ROOTBEER MILKSHAKES ERMEHGERD 5) Offer a pretty good veggie burger when you want something fast but dont want the intense cholesterol. 6) Priced very fairly for such a better quality fast food burger. (less than burger king/wendy's) 7) fries with the skin in-tact 8) The place looks a hell of a lot cleaner than ANY other drive through burger joint. I went to P. Terry's not long ago on my lunch break because it is close to my bank and I needed to make a deposit. I was very impressed by their fast and efficient service. I ordered a veggie burger combo. Their veggie burger is not my favorite in town, but is within the top 3. It's delicious and satisfying, and the price is good for such fresh ingredients. Disappointing all around. Not as bad as the now shuttered sixth street location though. This local chain has definitely seen a steady decline in quality since expanding. Very poor customer service, Want to grab a Burger at 10:57 a.m.. The representative taking my water show me they did not have any fries ready until 11 o'clock. I told him I would wait or would he like me to drive around the drive thru. He told me do whatever I think is best. Waited for 10 minutes went back through drive-through any told me it would take another 15 minutes because they have not cut fries. I told them I was confused because our day supposed to have lunch ready by 11. There was literally no one in the drive-through. They said it is what it is. Informed the Manager on Duty who told me it was chocolate, then told me worker says he put only a little bit of chocolate in it. Really!?!? It's a chocolate shake, duh. P. Terry's is so good. It's no wonder new locations are popping up all over! It always hits the spot for whatever meal you need- lunch, late night, they even have breakfast that I haven't tried yet. Even if the drive-thru line looks long, don't worry because they're speedy and have a double drive-thru! I've only tried the cheeseburgers and fries, but my bf had the chicken burger (ground chicken, not a whole chicken breast) and said it was amazing so that's next up on my list along with their cookies that everyone raves about but I always try to resist. I recommend asking for a side of sauce with your fries. It will take them to the next level, I promise you. While they aren't my favorite fast-food fries, they are pretty darn good. Yes, sometimes there is a wait, and at the Ben White location it can get crazy real fast because the lanes are kind of tiny and everyone has to snake around. It's ok, though...because as most seem to agree, P. Terry's is a gem. I just feel better knowing things are hormone free and locally sourced when possible, and they deliver on that. My two jams are the chicken burger - which adds swiss cheese to the equation and makes it perfect. The veggie burger is also great...it's substantial and I have never felt lacking because I didn't get a meat product when I ordered it. Their tea is good, too. Always a plus. read more

I don't know if they mind being compared or not, but this place reminds me a lot of In and Out Burger and may have been patterned after it. Their menu is simple--hamburgers, cheeseburgers, veggie burgers, chicken burger, fries, shakes, drinks. Everything was delicious and cheap. I got the burger in the lettuce wrap because I didn't want the bread and it was filling enough I wouldn't have even needed to get any fries. The fries would have been much better if we hadn't had a 10 minute drive home during which they got cold but I could tell they were hand-cut and fresh cooked and would have been delicious if I could have eaten them hot on the spot. The lemonade tasted like it was made from real lemons not a mix. I would definitely come back here if I wanted a fast cheap meal. There is no place to sit inside, strictly a drive-thru place to take to a park or bring home. The service was amazingly fast and efficient. They keep those cars moving so you don't have a long wait. You order and pay at the window and then pull up and they bring your order out to you. My daughter said the place is always crazy busy. read more
