Closer to work (and home), this new location is de Bom! They're going through a few growing pains as they get started, but don't let that keep you away (my friend has gotten a few orders with mistakes, but they are resolved easily) the food is the same fabulous, un-MSG'd, un-Supersized, real deal. The 'small' burger is actually a correct portion size and adequately filling (not as big as the 1500-2000 calorie burgers corporate fast-food joints serve laced with almost as many 'proprietary' chemical ingredients as cigarettes). And if you are still hungry after the fries, there's always a cookie - my fav! (I save my cookie for atleast an hour or two because I'm full after a burger & fries) Truly tasty, but the new building may be a challenge for massive trucks & SUVs to navigate. read more

I'm a fan of the location on S. Lamar--it's a great, easy stop for a quick bite and works for the kids every time. This location on Ben White is ultra convenient but the drive through set-up is a pain with the line going out onto the service road when it's really busy. And, there is no walk up here as there is at S. Lamar. The food is consistent here as with the other locations but it is drive through only. It's worth a stop if the line isn't outrageous and your needing to hit the road. read more

I don't understand how this place has less than five stars. Austin is ripe with trailer-eats but they are not drive-thru! If you have a kiddo, this is important. P Terry's has BADASS food. They have chicken burgers, veggie burgers, beef burgers and fresh fries, milkshakes, lemonade, ice tea. I especially love to get a chicken burger on a wheat bun with no sauce and jalapenos, onions, pickles, lettuce, tomato yummm!!! plus an unsweetened ice tea and fries for my son. yummm!!! They charge a bit extra for jalapenos and wheat buns, and when I get to the window, I ask for more ketchup hun. Make your breakfast potatoes have salt or they'll be bland, for some people, I suppose, that's all they can stand. P. Terry's is a top notch burger stand and you won't find a better fast food burger in Austin. Always great! My only qualm is that my crispy fries are never crispy. Advice: To achieve a good crispy fry, it requires cooking them twice and letting them rest for about 30 sec - 1 min in between. The drop in temperature before dropping them again is crucial. My biggest pet peeve about fast food joints is how often they manage to mangle an order. I don't think "mustard instead of mayo, no onions" is really that difficult to grasp. Happy to say I frequent (once a week to once every other week, I'd say) this P Terry's and the one on Lamar and have never had my order mixed up. +1 the burgers are big enough to fill you up, but not big enough to make you overfull. +1 vinegar on the fries, oh man. They are friendly, fast, always get the order right... They are consistently good and that counts for a lot .... lemonade is good and the fries are great but only for 2 minutes and 17 seconds.. Why would you invest so much money in making a place look nice, creating the food and the decor and then just stop short when it comes making your employees wear gloves? I saw an employee wipe the sweat from her forehead, scratch the inside of ear and then begin making my burgers. Her hand went into the lettuce tub first so if you've had anything with lettuce in it, it probably had earwax and sweat on it. If it were up to me I'd fine the owners, take away their business license and probably their library card. Seriously though, adding gloves to the mix isn't that hard. Btw, the one up on N. I'd actually give this place 2.5 stars if i was allowed. I was feeling generous and was going to round up to 3, but 3 is "a-ok", and 2 is "Meh", and it was definitely meh. I 100% do not get the P. Terry's hype. I went to the original one once, 5 years ago after first moving to Austin and was totally unimpressed. This new one is very close to my house, and my neighbors raved about it, so I thought I'd give it a chance. The price is right. No complaints about that. $2 for a hamburger, $2.25 for a cheeseburger, and $1.45 for fries. You get a ton of fries for the price. The burgers are a little small, but adequately sized for the price. Problem is though, the taste of the burger is pretty awful. My neighbors, as i mentioned, loved it. But they have both chain smoked for over 35 years. Apparently cigarettes do kill your taste buds. I went at a slightly off time, and still had to wait a while in the drive thru line. The fries were pretty good. The bun was good too. The burger itself was totally meh. I won't be going back. For my quick burger fix I'll ease on down the road another mile or so to the classic greasy joint on Manchaca and Ben White. read more

I came to this specific location a couple times when I used to live near by. P Terry's is a nice little burger joint. That being said, I see it as a poor man's In and Out. However, their veggie burger is surprisingly really good and their fries are decent too. You also could get a lot worse for you fast food elsewhere. So if you're looking for fast food, this ain't bad in terms of price and quality. Less than mediocre, very small tasteless cheeseburger about the size of a child's burger at McDonald's. The fries were so greasy I could soak up an entire napkin with one fry, the most disgusting fries I've ever seen or tasted. This place was only a drive thru. I ordered a double with cheese, fries and a caramel milkshake. It was a decent burger, nice and juicy. I asked for light special sauce and added onions and pickles. The fries were crispy, but sooo salty. The milkshake was good. I'm from California and this place is similar to In and Out. Sorry, In and Out wins hands down and even their fries. I'm really frustrated with this P.Terry's. My husband loves P.Terry's so it's our fall back when we're looking for something quick. This will be the last time. The last three visits have had mistakes. The first time, they charged us for 2 fries and gave us one. We figured it was a fluke, but then the next time was worse. I ordered a number one but the guy rang up a burger, no meal. I corrected him. Then the girl came up with two tickets, one for a burger and the other for fries and a drink. I explained the mixup and she came back with my food. Without fries. Tonight, my husband went to grab food while my friend and I stayed home. I'm on a crazy restricted diet at the moment (no eggs, no dairy, no soy, no tomatoes, no fun) so I ordered a double with no cheese, no tomatoes, on lettuce instead of bread. My husband checked for the fries, but didn't worry about the rest because the burgers are usually right and he reiterated the "no cheese". Well, it came with two slices of cheese melted on to each patty. So I didn't get to eat while everyone else ate around me. You shouldn't have to check every single item you order. Closest thing you'll find to In n' Out in Austin. All the veggie ingredients are grown locally, and their draw is happy chickens and cows so you won't be eating some malnourished unhappy animal specimen. There is always a line for lunch or dinner, and they are fairly quick. A burger is a burger is a burger and this place does not suck, but still is a FAST FOOD burger joint. my god, the best part about p ters is that they have mastered the double drive through line. It took a tru stroke of genious to come up with the double drive thru. The trick to the double line is to wait at the entrance long enough to piss everyone off behind you but at the same time allowing you to get pick of the shorter of the two lines and see which one is moving faster. Dont worry about the mad people behind you, they rarely get out of their car to yell. This peters location has this pink moist special sauce that you can get on the side and then dip ur fries and burgers in. Its so much better than the 5 guys. read more

Great burgers but SUPER slow. DO NOT get in lane 2 unless you have around 15 min +++ to kill while lane 1 takes about 3-5 min. Also the car hops (servers) are super rude and lazy. Note to corporate... bring in a corporate trainer for dinner rush training and fire all the people who act like they gate their job. 7 cars have gone thru lane 1 and I'm still 3rd in line for lane 2 and no one has taken my payment. I don't know why people are giving this place such good reviews. I appreciate that the burgers are all natural and antibiotic free, but mine just wasn't good. I got a cheese burger (the #2 maybe?). The patty itself was nearly tasteless, the veggies that came with it, which seemed like an afterthought, consisted of mostly the white crunchy parts of lettuce, and a (local) tomato that contained a hard green middle. The cheese wasn't even melted. My chocolate shake tasted like straight up fake chocolate syrup and nothing else. It's only saving grace were the fries, which I liked and my fiance did not. read more
