I love the food at Pachanga and the cooks are very nice and friendly when they deliver your food to table or counter. However, I have been here a few times after work in the evening and the service is mediocre. Disinterested unfriendly cashier who does not greet you when you order...just a blank hostile stare. Over charged me twice when I wanted to add on rice and beans to my order which according to the menu costs 2.50. I got charged 3.20. When I mentioned this to the cashier, they had to use their smart phone to calculate the overage. I just told them you owe me 0.70 cents. Basic math not Rocket Science involved. No thank you(s) when I paid or when I departed. I will certainly avoid eating here in the evening and will continue to stop by for lunch. I work nearby and there are many choices for lunch but they come into 2 categories; 1. Expensive- (Daily Grill, McCormick's, etc.) 2. Less expensive strip mall at the MB Marketplace accross the street which has Subway, 2 sushi joints, and now a pizza place. One of the food places there is Pachanga Mex. Grill. If you read my past reviews you can see that I have visited many different mexican joints mostly for lunch. Although this place is not as good a Chile Verde their speed of service and food are consistantly good. They alway offere additional item specials and they have fish tacos which are also good. In the end, since this place is close by I'll continue to walk here from fork and enjoy a quick bite however, this is not the place to take a date for an authentic Mexican experience like Poncho's but the food is good to hold you over until dinner. Its a very specific taste though, so if you are looking for some crazy pork/beef one this might not be for you but you should try it! THE BEST RESTAURANT! This is my favorite restaurant of all time and I've been coming here ever since I was little. My parents started coming here before I was born and our family orders from here at least once a month. The owners have seen me grow up and always know my order once I walk through the door. When I was younger, I would always get the cheese quesadilla with guacamole on the side. Now, I get the shredder salad and the portion is HUGE. My family has gotten almost everything on the menu and every meal has always been PERFECT! We bring our out-of-town family here and I've brought multiple friends here to enjoy the fantastic food. The salsa bar is the best part because you can get as much as you want to add to your meal! Each meal also comes with a lot of chips, which are always super yummy! EXCEPT - today, I show up for my usual lunch and find that the new owner has changed over to Pepsi drink products. Literally, yesterday, there were Coca Cola products. WHAT ELSE IS ABOUT TO CHANGE??? Sorry, but I have been going to the restaurant for over 22 years, and the new management is terrible. They left out part of my order, when we went back, they treated me like a criminal when I asked for my full order. I re-paid and told them that they have lost a long time customer. We are their target family. We go 2+ times a month and this dinner was a special one for my sister's birthday. They have lost out on more than $500 per year in profit. Profit that he new owners desperately need to keep afloat. We will never go back to this restaurant. We'll miss the shredder salads and chicken quesadilla's, but the quality has been going down for the last few years anyway. When a customer shows you a receipt from 15 minutes ago and says that the large order was missing two items, give them the two items. Don't argue that they should have dumped out every chip from ever bag in the box to check the order. That's your job as a restaurateur, not the job of the customer. The steak nachos are AMAZING!!! Personally, I order them with cheese and steak only, no beans or salsa, and seriously, YUM!! The chicken is good too but I usually get the steak and then the salsa verde from the salsa bar. I'm not a veggie fan which is why the nachos are my thing. They've got your typical favorites, tacos, burritos, quesadillas but they taste fresh not greasy. The chicken,fish and beef are flavorful and grilled over a flame broiled grill, not over a griddle. They also have a great tostada salad that is fresh and filling. They've got the best nachos around. Crispy tortilla chips, melted Jack cheese, beans, guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo and your choice of meat! I love the Oso Burrito. I came here for lunch on a busy weekend and ended up pleasantly surprised. I've tried the Pechanga in El Segundo a few times and I'm not a fan, so I wasn't overly excited about this one. But my buddy wanted to go so we did it anyway. The staff were super nice and smiling the whole time, friendly, and brought us some stuff when they didn't have to (it's almost fast food where you go up to the counter to order/get your food). The food still isn't Mexican, it just uses Mexican ingredients, but it tasted good nevertheless. I got the enchilada plate and some nachos to share. The enchiladas were will flour tortillas and wasn't baked like I think they need to be, to be called enchiladas. These were basically small burritos. They were also pretty packed with cheese and meat like a small burrito would be, and the cheese and sauce on top tasted unhealthily good with it. The beans and rice were a bit bland, but mix them together and pour some salsa on top and you're set. The nachos were standard too but had some average guacamole on them. Everything had a lot of sour cream.....enough to ask them to just skip it next time. Overall it was a confusing experience and a confusing meal. The ingredients were the one's that we're familiar with in Mexican cooking, but the way they were combined wasn't Mexican and the cooking wasn't Mexican. Still, it tasted pretty good and the portion was actually pretty darn big for the price. Way better than the El Segundo Pechanga too! This is a more modern take on your typical Mexican restaurant. Service is quick, the staff is friendly, and the place is very clean. My sister always insists on coming here whenever she is in town. It is not as high up on my list as it is on hers, but I still enjoy it. My favorite things to order are the soft tacos or the chicken tomatillo burrito. The rice and beans are also very good (a feature often overlooked at most Mexican places). However, the real highlight of Pachanga is the SALSA. Yes it is that good. Holy guacamole this place gets crowded during the weekday lunch rush! When I first entered, I thought "Oh, Baja Fresh or La Salsa". I got in just before the rush (11:30) and secured a table against the wall (by placing my binder and water bottle down). You place your order at one end of the counter and are given a number. i decided on the nachos with steak, black beans. The serving was generous and the chips were crisp. The salsa fresca or pico was delicious, but I also added the hot sauce available at the fresh salsa counter. Good deal considering the location. Good parking, quick service, perfect for a worker bees' lunch break. The only thing that sucks to me is that they don't have the fountain drinks out where customers can refill at will. Thought I'd try this place instead of Subways next door at 9:30pm. Ordered the Chicken Burrito Padrino with free chips for $7.78, including tax. I went to get some salsa and the burrito was already ready. A guy was cool enough to give me a bag for the salsa. It helped that I was the only customer and they were ready to close for the night. The burrito was kinda cold. Not frozen, but as if it was sitting at room temperature for a few hours. It tasted pretty good though as it had rice, black beans, sour cream, and lettuce.The salsa was good, but not outstanding. I came again a few days later and ordered the Steak Burrito Padrino. This time, the food was a bit warmer but not by much. The cashier and cook were very nice people. Overall, 4 stars for taste and service.
