We stayed at Semiahmoo Resort, and had breakfast at Packers Kitchen & Bar. It's on the water, with great views over the water. We were seated immediately even without a reservation. As we were being let to our table the host told us everyone was out on the deck as they had spotted whales. We went out immediately and were able to spot 4 whales. It was an exciting start to our day. We got the PNW Farmers Omelet, Dutch Baby, Hot Chocolate and Mocha. We liked both the Omelet and the Dutch Baby. The breakfast was great, bonus was the whale sighting.

We stopped into Packers hoping for a relaxing glass of vino... and ended up with a patience test instead. After 20 minutes, we noticed our wine just sitting on the bar -- the bartender had vanished. Eventually, we asked a server if we could please get our drinks. Another couple just walked up and grabbed their beers themselves (smart move, honestly). We ordered a meat & cheese platter and waited... and waited. Over 30 minutes later, still nothing -- meanwhile, other tables were getting full-on meals: burgers, chicken, pizza. We gave up, paid for our wine, and left. No charcuterie dreams fulfilled. We did get a discount for the delay, so at least there's that. But no tip this time -- earn it next round, folks.

Current menu... husband and I wanted to have a bite to eat and watch the sunset from the Resort. We are so so happy Packers is back open . Only open Fridays-Saturday-Sundays just FYI. Please come by and visit and have a drink or yummy smash burger.

Eating lunch here was a terrible ending to an otherwise wonderful stay at Semiahmoo. Service was insanely slow. And it wasn't even that busy. Our soup appetizers came out before our first cocktails. The bartender had to bring them out, as they'd been sitting a while. And she also brought us water. Took forever for our meals (sandwich and burger). Truly one of the worst burgers I've had. I ended up feeding the rest to our dog, as I couldn't handle another bite. They also forgot our fries! Anytime we tried to get someone's attention, we were ignored. No offer to get us another beverage. We sat around for a long time after we were done. I was finally so fed up with everything that I went inside to ask for our bill and pay it on the spot. I was thinking they'd be slammed inside (we were sitting on 3/4 full patio), but it wasn't even busy inside either! Giving 2 stars inside of 1 simply because of the nice ambiance outdoor and indoor, and the soup was good. But whoever is managing this restaurant needs to be fired immediately. They clearly have no idea what they are doing. Our stay at Semiahmoo was otherwise great until we checked out and had lunch here. Don't waste your time or money eating at Packers until they get it together. Blaine is close by with much better options. Go to The Vault and Drayton Harbor Oysters instead.

This is their berry crisp on our first night. It was jelly with some oats on top warmed up. Not. Good. At. All.

It pains me to leave such a low rated review but it has to be done. Semiahmoo Resort has but one option as far as restaurants go. You'd think they would really knock this out of the park but it is quite the opposite. The menu is limited, but offers decent options, so that is fine. The food comes out sooo sooo slow, staggered, burnt, missing parts and sub par at best. Breakfast is typically a little easier of a meal to prepare, but they were out of so much when we stayed there over Memorial Day weekend. We tried a couple meals and decided on the BBQ after those, which understandably became sold out. All the hotel guests were all thinking the same thing. All I can say is it's horribly over priced and inconsistent, and if you can get off the property, head to Bellingham for some decent options. It's a beautiful space. We've been coming to Semiahmoo for 20 years and because of this last experience at Packer's will be finding another resort to enjoy our family gatherings at. My hope is they will make some drastic changes to try and recoup people's faith but it's been down hill for a few years now so not sure they realize there is a problem. I will say it was a busy weekend and we were a large group, so maybe that plays a role, but large groups is typical for a resort this size. They should be able to handle this. Everyone's "low point" of our reunion was Packer's. Sigh. Just wish and so wanted it to have been so much better.

We had a wonderful snack after a day on the beach at this little spot! The food and drinks were good and the view was unbeatable! Service was super nice and friendly and I would totally return. Oysters were fresh and delicious! Crab cakes also hit the spot!

The grilled ones are a special favorite, and they're worth the drive. My favorite is the bourbon one, but the coconut curry is also tasty. We always end up with fries and a whiskey crab soup no matter what - it's an addiction and when I brought my parents, they both got a bowl. They aren't super into raw ones, so I had them all to myself and they're served very simply with lemon and mignonette, which allows the flavors to breathe and really shine. It's casual, but if someone took me on a date here I'd probably marry him. Anyone who is into food will know this is a prime place to wow people, just because it's so good. Service is at the counter, and then it's brought to your table and you bus your own. They have a pretty decent drink selection and the oysters/drinks are featured in their daily happy hour. They have outdoor seating and are dog friendly, which is always extra plusses in my book! Parking is on the street but it's never been really difficult to find a place. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a casual meal with a view.

Knowing it would be a busy day, I made a reservation in advance, which I'm glad I did. This restaurant had fairly good reviews, so we decided to give it a try. When we arrived, I was a little surprised. The restaurant was much more casual than I expected, and the ambiance felt a bit dated. We ordered the half dozen fresh oysters, spinach salad, seafood linguine, and the Creole chicken. Unfortunately, the oysters were disappointing. They weren't as plump or flavorful as the fresh oysters I've had in Vancouver, and they were served with tobiko, which I've never seen paired with oysters before. It wasn't a combination I enjoyed. The spinach salad was good, although I thought it was a bit overdressed. The seafood linguine was also enjoyable, with a generous amount of seafood, though I wasn't expecting it to be made with pesto sauce. It was still a tasty dish. The Creole chicken was just okay--the chicken breast was a bit dry, but the sauce helped make up for it. Overall, I felt the prices were a bit high for the quality of the food and the casual atmosphere. It may be a good option by White Rock standards, but if this restaurant were in Vancouver, I don't think it would stand out. That said, the service was excellent. Our server was genuinely friendly, attentive, and provided the best part of our dining experience.

There is definitely at least one back room, but the main dining room is a bright, airy space that has access to a patio where may even be some live music playing. The tables are gorgeous - all live edge, which might create a bit of an issue if you have short arms and are used to stealing bites across the table, but they are absolutely beautiful and a nice nod to the area. The wine list is extensive and a bit overwhelming, but the service is happy, friendly, and very knowledgeable. In fact, I love when servers don't know, admit it, and find the answer for you - it's humble and shows they really care at getting you what you want. We got the orange wine, which is a new favorite of mine. It's like a rose for reds. Rose:White::Orange:Red. More savory, still light, and best chilled. We had the beet hummus app, which is definitely best eaten with your hands. It's light and delicious. We had the miso black cod, a personal favorite, and the lasagna for dinner and while both were good, the accoutrements with the cod were the true standout. Amazing and I could probably eat two of them. As the restaurant operates on a seasonal menu, we had a strawberry rhubarb cobbler for dessert. I know there is Sunday Brunch, and I can't wait to try it. It's not the cheapest, but it's one of the nicer restaurants in Whatcom, and is definitely worth your pennies. Everything about it makes for a truly nice experience, and we'll definitely be back.
